Pros: Lots of pop
Pros: Weight is spread out across the bat with a huge sweet spot.
Cons: none yet
Pros: Bought this for my 11yr old grandson who plays select/travel ball. He loves the feel and pop of it, says it reminds him of his original Mako but a better version.
Cons: None at this time. He has only had it a couple of weeks.
Pros: Right out of the wrapper hitting bombs. I got this as a replacement to the cf zen and my son is smashing the baseball with this bat. All the kids on his team are using it.
Cons: none yet
Pros: Great composite bat...we estimate that it has increased hitting efficiency by 20%...This is our third composite big barrel and our best..
Cons: None yet
Pros: My son hits great with this bat. Awesome pop and sounds just like the small barrel orange mako. Pop is probably even better than the small barrel mako.
Cons: -Paint chips easily (the same with all of these bats) -Unfortunately, combat is going out of business. Heard Easton is discontinuing the combat line, what a shame . This Maxum is my sons favorite bat.
Pros: Bought this for my 11u son. Hit a grand slam on his third at bat over the centerfield wall. Ball comes off the bat very hard!
Cons: None so far!
Pros: Ball shoots off the bat. Totally different carry off this one and his old bat. Good sweet spot. Even "misses" come off hard
Cons: none yet
Pros: My son is on an 11u AAA travel ball team that plays in four neighboring states. Since we purchased this bat, he has hit 5 home runs and his batting average went up tremedously. The bat has awsome pop and the ball comes off of it fast. I highley recommend this bat for a serious travel ball player!
Cons: none so far
Pros: great bat amazing pop my son who is 8 has tried all the top name bats out their and he loves his combat.
Cons: sad that COMBAT has gone out of business
Pros: great feel and pop
Pros: Bought the bat for my 8yr old son. He likes the way it feels and no vibration at all. Pop is getting better with each use, only had the bat for about 2 weeks so cant rate properly on durability!!
Cons: None at this time, we will see how the durability turns out.
Pros: The handle feels good and has little to no vibration
Cons: Has a very small sweet spot. Bought the new version because we have the old version and my son loves it. This one does not come close to our old bat.
Pros: Very balanced. Loud pop. Looks great.
Cons: The handle is pretty thin and my son is complaining of some sting in his hands. Other than that, no complaints. Overall, a great bat!
Pros: got this this week. my 10 year old broke it in with 9 bombs over 190+. He said he likes the pop better than the Marucci and the zen. that his opinion.
Cons: none yet
Pros: This bat is extremely hot!
Cons: Absolutely none
Pros: Seems to have a lot of pop. Still breaking it in.
Cons: Thin handle but we put a lizard skin right over the tape it cam with for a nice thick grip.
Pros: great balance and the best pop i seen in a youth bat! buy it try it and im sure you will agree
Pros: my son has hit with a Marucci hex, DiMarini Zen, and the Louisville 917 composite bats, and rather an easton S3 allow all day over those bats. The S3 has great pop, great price, great sound off the bat, great balance, excellent bat! According to my 10 year old
Cons: like every alloy bat it dents easily
Pros: Great feel..hard hitting..balls scream off the bat. Confidence maker. You will hit home runs. Makes you buy the next size up. My son was real close to hitting the fence until he got this bat. 16 home runs between two fall seasons and a spring season. Not really sure if it’s the bat or just his abilities or the confidence of having it in his hands. Plus no dents like some other reviews stated before. He hits hard and uses it even on pitching machines. No issues out of this bat at all.
Pros: Everything you want in a bat and more
Cons: Horrible vibration Small sweet spot
Cons: Bought Easton S3 30 inch 20 ounce to primarily use as a workhorse in the batting cage and save the composite MAKO for games. The S3 has a very small sweet spot. That's minor compared to the vibration. The handle is very thin and the grip is very thin. First couple hits my son almost cried because of the vibration. I decided to take some cuts with the bat to show my son that it's just him, but the first couple hits, I dropped the bat and my hands stung like crazy. This bat vibrates a ridiculous amount that it really hurts. I then bought a lizard skin grip for about $7 and wrapped it right over the existing grip, and that seemed to give a little padding to reduce the vibration, but it still vibrates slightly. Would return the bat if I could. Looking to just eat the money I paid for it and buy something else with less or no vibration. My older son has an Omaha 517 that he uses in the cage and there is little to no vibration. I recommend buying that bat if you're looking for a cheap alloy.
Pros: Great for power hitters my 11 year old son hit 15 home runs in 35 games with this bat. 1st at bat with it out of the park 250ft. He loves it so much we got a 2nd one for his 2018 season. The Ball Jumps off of this Bat.
Cons: There is no cons we have had no issues with this bat.
Got a question about the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210 ? Ask our team of experts, and they will respond within 24 hours.Ask A Question OR
Are you able to get this in a 31/21? Looking for a -10 in a 31/21.
Unfortunately, we do not have any 31'' 21 oz bat in the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210.
Is this bat going to be legal for the year 2018?
Under USSSA rules, this 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7MX210) will be permitted for all USSSA divisions of play in 2018 (except for the 14U division).
How does this bat compare to the 2017 Marucci HEX Connect?
This 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7MX210) will have an all-composite design to it and a balanced swing weight. The Marucci Hex Connect will also be all-composite and be balanced, however, the Hex Connect will be a two-piece bat. That two-piece design would allow the Hex Connect to offer more barrel flex at contact with the ball (when compared to the MAXUM).
What is the benefit of using the 2.75" diameter bat vs. the 2.625" diameter bat?
A benefit of using a 2 3/4" barrel such as the barrel size on the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7MX210) is that it has more surface area to hit the ball in comparison to a 2 5/8" barrel.
Looking for a bat for my 12 year old son. He is 5'1" and about 115 lbs. I was trying to decide not only on size, but whether the COMBAT -10 or the COMBAT -8 would be a better fit? Is there an advantage to one over the other?
Since your son is starting to get older, I might recommend looking to the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -8 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7MX108) over this 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7MX210). The reason I suggest the -8 size is because he will be required to swing BBCOR bats in high school and those bats will have a -3 length-to-weight ratio. Around 6th grade, it is good to start working towards the -3 bats. I think getting the the SL7MX108 in the 31"/23 oz size might be a good choice to start moving towards heavier bats.
Is the Maxum a much more superior bat to the Vigor line of bats and what are the differences if any?
The 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7MX210) is going to feature a much longer barrel than the 2016 COMBAT VIGOR -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (VIGSL110). Another major difference is the Maxum is going to be a much more balanced bat than the Vigor. Those are the two big differences between the two bats.
What is the difference between this bat and the SL7MX110?
This bat has a 2 3/4" barrel diameter while the SL7MX110 has a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Can you please compare this bat to the Demarini CF Zen-CBZ17
The 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210 is a one piece composite bat with a larger sweet spot, so it will offer more stiffness than the CF Zen, which is a two piece composite bat.
Can I get this in a 2 5/8" barrel?
Yes, the SL7MX110 is the model with the 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Why does Carter say that "Easton shut down the COMBAT brand and as of 2018 they will not be produced anymore"? This is not correct. They will continue to produce the MAXUM, per their own company's press release.
Unfortunately the COMBAT lineup of bats will be dissolved heading into 2018. Back on July 21, 2016 Performance Sports Group released an article that states "will continue to sell and market the current COMBAT MAXUM line of bats, but will immediately cease sales of all other COMBAT bats and product categories." Easton will more than likely incorporate technology from COMBAT's lineup into their own bats but as of today (2/27/17) there has not been word as to whether they will manufacturer the MAXUM for release in 2018.
Is there a temperature range for durability with a bat like this? Some of our games in the midwest are cold.
Really it is the same for every bat on the market regardless of material. It is best to use bats in temperatures above 55 degrees, especially composite bats like the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210.
I purchased this bat for my 9 year old son for Christmas. The barrel is starting to chip a lot. Is anyone experiencing the same thing? Is there anything I can do about this?
We are not aware of this being a common issue with the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210. As bats are used they will start to experience imperfections such as paint chipping but this will not affect the performance of the bat. The bat does feature a 12 month warranty but would advise using this one-time replacement for when the bat is defective.
I just bought one of these. If I have correctly interpreted the previous answer, then as of 2018, Combat bats will no longer be produced? If so, it is a shame. This was my sons favorite bat.
Yes, unfortunately Easton shut down the ComBat brand and as of 2018 they will not be produced anymore. They were very good bats.
If COMBAT basically no longer exists, how will the bat be warrantied?
Any COMBAT bats, such as the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210, that are advertised with a warranty will be carried out by either Easton or, if placed at JustBats.com, through JustBats.
What is the difference with this model compared to 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210?
The main difference between the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210 and the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 will be the colorway. Other than that these are the same bats.
If this is a 2017 bat, why is it discounted so much already?
Normally we can't offer lower prices on 2017 models due to manufacturer restrictions. However, COMBAT was recently dropped by its parent company, so we bought out a large stock of their remaining bats, allowing us to sell them at lower prices.
Do the SL7MX210 and SL7MX211 have the same performance characteristics? What are the differences between bats other than the drop of 10 and 11?
The 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210 and the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -11 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX211 are going to be very similar performance and the only difference would be the weights of the bats. With that said, a hitter would typically get more pop from the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210 due to this bat being an ounce heavier.
How many swings are recommended to break-in this bat?
The 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210 is pretty hot out of the wrapper. However, we feel it will benefit from about 50-100 swings
My son is turning 9 years old on December 12th and will be participating in a 9u travel league program. He is currently 4'10" and weighs 122 pounds, and has above average strength for his age. I am planning on ordering this bat with 31 Length and 21 OZ (-10). His travel coaches are telling me that this will be way to big for him but I don't think so. Curious to hear your thoughts on this.
Based on your sons height and weight, I would recommend the 30 inch, 20 oz 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210, but it is all down to personal strength and preference.
Got a question about the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 ? Ask our team of experts, and they will respond within 24 hours.Ask A Question OR
My son is 9, 4'7'and a solid 98lbs, what would be a good bat size him?
Given your player's specifications, I would recommend a 30" bat version of this 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310.
My son is 4'8 and is a solid 103 lbs. He just turned 10 and plays all stars this summer. He has been swinging a 30/20 Beast 2 3/4 barrel well but we like the S3. Based on his size do you recommend the 30/20 S3 or the 29/19?
Based on your player's specifications, as well as bat history, I would recommend the 30" 20oz. size of the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310.
Is this bat BBCOR or USA certified?
The 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 does not feature a BBCOR or USA stamp. It is USSSA certified.
My son is 11, 5'3" and 143 lbs. With his wingspan, diagrams say that he should have a 32" but we are being told that he should not use over 21oz. Thoughts? Advice?
Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest a 31" length. At his age, players typically use a -10, so the 31" 21 ounce 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 should be a good fit.
My son is 10 yrs old, weighs 170-172 lbs and is 5’ 5†tall. Would the 29†-10 bat be the right fit for him? He is a tall and solid kid.
Based on your player's height and weight, I would recommend either a 32" or a 33" bat. If this is a significant jump from your player's previous bat, I might suggest sticking with the shorter 32" size this season. The longest option available for the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310) would be the 32"/22 oz size. If you wanted to go with a 33" bat, you would need to move up to a drop 5 length to weight ratio. That weight might be too heavy for a 10 year old.
Is this a USSSA bat?
Yes, this 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 is a USSSA approved bat.
I have tall slender 12 year old, his 26 oz is too heavy. Would this be proper?
This bat would certainly work, although we generally recommend a -8 drop bat for a 12 year old to help them transition to BBCOR in a few years.
Is it possible to just get the Mako -10 2 5/8?
Unfortunately we do not have anymore of the Easton MAKO -10 models with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter. We do however have the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 in stock.
I have an 11 year old that is 5 foot 1 inches and weighs 120 lbs. Would this bat be a good fit?
Yes, it would. Based on his height and weight we would recommend a 31"/21 ounce 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310.
I have read many reviews online and I have seen repeated posts about this bat denting very easily. Can you give me any insight into this?
Just like all aluminum alloy bats, the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 is going to be susceptible to potential denting. This is much like how composite bats are going to be prone to cracking. The S3 utilizes Hyperlite Matrix Alloy which is actually used to provide increased durability for the barrel of the bat.
What's the difference between the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310) and the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310B)?
This 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310) has a 2 5/8" barrel diameter and differs from the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310B) which has a 2 3/4" barrel diameter. besides that difference, everything else on the bats will be the same.
My son is almost 12 and weighs about 80 pounds. He has been using the Worth Prodigy 28/18 but I think that is too small now. Would you recommend a 29 or 30? He is also on the shorter side.
To determine the best size to get the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 in we use an algorithm that incorporates the player's height and weight. If you let us know the height of your player we would be more than happy to let you know the proper length to select.
Is this bat still legal to use with the new bat rules?
If your league is requiring the new USA certification, then the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 would not be legal. It is USSSA certified and not USA certified.
My 11 year old is about 90 lbs and has been using a Marucci 29 inch. Would this bat with a 30 inch 20 ounce be recommended?
A 30'' 20 oz would be a great fit in the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 for your son.
My son is 49 inches tall and weighs about 50 lbs. Is this a good bat for him? If so, should I get him the 28 inch or 29 inch bat?
This 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310) would be a solid bat for your player. Based on his height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this bat in the 28" length as long as he can handle the 18 oz weight.
My son just turned 10 years old. He is 5' tall and 75 lbs. Right now, he has an Easton S2 2 1/4 barrel bat (30"/17 oz). What size do you think would be good for a 2 5/8" barrel bat?
Based upon your player's height and weight, my general length suggestion for a 2 5/8" barrel diameter bat would be the same 30" length your player is using currently. If you feel that your player is ready for the 30"/20 oz size of bat, I would recommend this 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310) very highly in the 30"/20 oz size.
Looking to find correct bat size for 9 yr old. He likes the Easton S3. He is 4'8" tall and weighs approx 85-90 lbs. He plays on a travel ball team and is currently using a DeMarini Voodoo RAW 29/19. He was having trouble getting through the zone and his hitting was on and off. When his coach changed his bat and he started using an Easton 2015 S2 28/18 his hitting improved 100%. What would you suggest as bat size? Should we stay with 28/18 or 29/19 Easton S3? New season is starting so don't want a bat that is the wrong size.
Based on your player's height and weight, we would recommend the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 in a 29 inch model. Some of the issue he may have been having with the DeMarini Voodoo RAW is that this bat is end-loaded. This can cause the top hand to drop and thus cause a longer swing. If he feels more comfortable with a 28/18 then we would recommend staying with this size or asking his coach if a 29/19 balanced bat will be okay to use.
(1) Any sales for this bat? (2) Can this be used in 13 year old division for Babe Ruth? (3) Out of all bats, which bat would you choose for a 13 year old Babe Ruth player (2-5/8" barrel)?
(1) For the current time being we will not have any sales going to offer an additional amount off the listed price of this 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310). (2) This 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310) will not be allowed within the 13-15 year old division of Babe Ruth because it does not feature BBCOR certification [I might recommend double-checking the rules as I could be wrong on my interpretation]. (3) If you wanted a BBCOR bat to consider, I would recommend the 2017 Easton Z-CORE Speed BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17ZS).
I know bats are generally off an ounce or 2. How does a 29 x 19 measure up in weight?
The 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17S310 actually comes in pretty close to the listed weight, within .2 ounces over or under.
