B45 builds this bat in the easy-to-swing 271 turn model. However, for youth players, they tone down the barrel size and it should have a diameter right around 2-1/4 inch. As well, the bat is designed to have an approximate drop 7 length-to-weight ratio. This should make the bat lighter than a large number of youth wood bats that come in the approximate -5 sizing. Thus, this bat should be on the lighter end of available wood bats for youth players. It should be a great model for a batter swinging a wood bat for the first time.
As well, be sure and note that this bat is made from Birchwood as opposed to maple or ash. Birch is awesome because it combines the most popular feature of maple bats and the most popular feature of ash bats. The barrel of this birch bat will be hard and less prone to chipping (like a maple bat), but the bat will flex between the barrel and handle when contacting a baseball (like an ash bat). We believe your budding star will really enjoy using this bat if it is their first introduction to wood baseball bats!
