When B45 makes their birch wood bats for professional players, they have to work to meet a number of specific preferences for those players' bats. Due to the nature of working with a material like wood, there are situations where a certain piece of wood cannot meet the preferences of a professional due to aesthetic blemishes, wrong specs or other minor imperfections (not related to wood quality). In these situations, B45 takes these incomplete bats and completes their construction. Then they paint them black and slap the B45 logo on them so that they can be B-1's.
