This B45 model of fungo bat will be cut from birch wood. Birch has recently started to establish itself as a great alternative to ash wood & maple wood. The reason that hitters like the birch bats is because they display some barrel hardness like a maple bat. However, the bat will also feature some flex when you contact a baseball, just like an ash bat.
Fungo bats like this one are great for coaches or parents to purchase if they are going to be hitting a high number of fly balls or grounders to their players. This bat will be the same length as an adult-sized wood bat but is much lighter in weight (due to the smaller barrel diameter) and thus it is easier to swing. As well, the quality birch wood of this bat should hold up for many seasons so long as the bat receives proper care (i.e. it is not thrown around like a regular baseball bat).
