Bat Benefits:

The Quatro Pro -12 is a 2-piece composite bat that features a multi-disc system and ultra-light end cap, giving it a balanced, lightweight feel for increased bat speed. Rawlings uses Q4 Technology to combine ultra-reactive barrel and handle flex to provide unmatched power, speed, and distance when the ball leaves the bat. The bat also boasts Focused Flex, a reactive collar where the handle and barrel meet, which eliminates vibration up the handle and barrel drag through the strike zone. For even more comfort and control, the bat uses a Lizard Skins grip.

Rawlings stands behind the quality of their products and offers a one-year warranty on all bats. In addition, they know that when you play at this level, you want to love how it feels every time you swing. How is this thing legal?! Phil Coach

Pros: Just got this bat but it is unbelievable when you compare it to other USA bats. First the barrel is HUGE. And the weight it pretty much right on the money - no excess weight in the end cap and grip like you see with all other bats. The pop after just a couple hundred off the tee is incredible. I can’t imagine what it will be like when it’s actually “broken in”. Also can’t say enough great things about Just Bats. I ordered at 830 last night and was delivered by 130 today.

Cons: I am sceptical about the durability. It sounds like an amplified wood bat, almost to the point where you check it after each hit to make sure it hasn’t cracked. It’s a sound I have never hear before in a composite. If this thing stays durable it will be the biggest seeking bat this year.

Kids love it! Coach K Coach

Pros: The bat looks great with a high gloss red finish. My son liked the balance and feel from the first swing. He took between 150-200 off the tee to break it in and loved the pop from the first swing. Seems to be getting better as it breaks in. He brought it to batting practice and a few of his teamsmates tried it out. All of them said they “loved the pop”.

Cons: When hitting the ball, it sounds like a broken wood bat. You will have people asking if the bat is broken or have the coaches or ump tappping it on the ground to feel for vibration to see if it’s cracked. I did the same. I also hit a few balls with it and it did sound like it was cracked be had a nice solid hit feel.

Already broken Coach K Coach

Pros: See previous post.

Cons: After three practices and two games the barrel is already cracked on both sides. We are getting a replacement because the kids on the team love it, but very skeptical about durability at this point. We’ll see how long the second one lasts.

Like no other Coach/Dad Coach

Pros: This bat definitely has pop, however, it’s still a USA bat. Compared to others in the space, I’d still put this to the top. The differentiator is the bat speed your child will gain from the drop 12. When you combine the extremely large barrel, natural pop and increased bat speed, you have a very high performing USA bat.

Cons: It does have a different sound and you will check bat as if it just broke but it’s not (at least on my sons). You get used to it quickly.

Be careful! Ryan Coach

Pros: It's light. The -12 is nice for helping smaller kids generate bat speed. No vibration.

Cons: I just sent the 4th bat back. The first 3 had something loose in the barrel right out of the box. I'm not talking the sound of sand rattling around in there but something was loose and you could feel it hitting the sides of the barrel. The 4th bat made no noise out the box. I thought great so I took my son to break it in and after about the 130th hit it started making the same noise as the first 3 bats. Towards the end it sounded like the barrel was going to shatter. After 4 bats I'm moving on to another brand which is sad because I like that it's made in America.

Too good to be true? Hope not! Kyle Narasky Coach

Pros: My son has only had this bat for a few days and it has great pop already! If this thing gets better over time it will be insane. It has a very balanced feel and my son says it feels great off the bat with no vibration. I compared the surface area of this thing with other bats in it's class and nothing comes close.

Cons: Strangest sounding bat ever. Makes you want to check it after every hit. Just hope it holds up.

Great USA bat Nicholas Winford Coach

Pros: Most pop I’ve seen out of a USA bat. The -12 aspect is great for smaller kids that need more length. Bat looks great and even when the ball is hit closer to the handle or end, the bat has little vibration.

Skeptical of durability Jeff Scott Parent

Pros: Drop 12 weight is nice for my youngest son

Cons: Sounds very weird when hitting balls, to the point where majority of games the umpire checks the bat after the first time they hear it. Pop seems okay, nothing really special. Very skeptical that this bat will last too long.

Most Pop of any USA bat so far!! Parent/ Coach Coach

Pros: The trampoline effect of this bat is the best so far. I haven't found another USA bag that compares. It had a huge sweet spot. Even balls mis hit at the end of the bat has decent pop. The bat has close to about 300 swings on it and it's still going strong. No signs of cracking, like other reviews seem to have had. In fact, our team has 3 kids with this bat and the kids love it. It does sound weird when you hit with it, which I think kind of catches the defense of guard.

Cons: None .

Broke within weeks Ashley Headley Parent

Pros: My son loves the feel of this bat. It's light. He hit great with it in his first game. He says it has a large sweet spot. The bat also looks nice. It makes a very weird sound every time it hits the ball, almost like it's breaking. It did have pretty good pop.

Cons: My son is 11 and the bat cracked and broke in less than 3 weeks. He does swing hard, but we're only in little league! We contacted Rawlings and they are sending a replacement bat, but I just read in their email that the replacement bats do not carry a warranty. So I'm a little concerned it may break again and we'll be out $350. I'd probably rather just hand my money back and try another bat...I would not recommend purchasing. Go with a bat that has better durability.

Best USA Bat, if it last James Granger Parent

Pros: Hot Bat, Big Pop, Ball bounces off of barrel. Biggest Barrel length wise of all bats out there for USA and it's a drop 12.

Cons: having the barrel this big for so long down the bat and it still being a drop 12, they had to shave weight obviously. I think the walls are very thin and cracking is going to be an issue. We had 2 cracks within 2 weeks of having our first bat, but Justbats.com sent us shipping labels and we returned and got a replacement in quickly. Hopefully this one lasts.

Just Awesome Trav Coach

Pros: Have had the bat for 2.5 weeks, it's the 31" used by a 12U team. This bat is the hottest USA bat we have used so far. Hit about 250 times off the tee and soft toss to get it broke in and then have used it only for games no BP. About 15 kids have used it in the games for our rec league and travel ball, it probably has 400+ hits on it now. The kids love the the very balanced weight and super fast bat speed. The bat has incredible pop! The majority of the hits from this bat have reached the deep outfield with 2 over the fence. The sound that bat makes is incredible! Every time a new umpire hears it they have to check it.

Cons: Not for the kids that have a hard time hitting, they can't slow down enough to hit, they are way to far in front of the ball. After last nights game we found a break on the bottom of the barrel, I'm sure it was off a foul ball that was hit, the foul was caught by the center fielder in the other field! We will get it warrantied and hope it lasts through the all-star season that is coming up.

Very Light with Pop! Dan Parent

Pros: Bat is extremely light and has a huge barrel and great pop in the sweet spot. Ball jumps off the barrel and has increased exit velocity distance. We went from a 28/17 Solo, to this and achieved my goal of a bigger barrel and light swing weight. In game situations my 8U son has hit multiple doubles and even had a massive hit that went all the way to the fence and resulted in an inside the park grand slam!

Cons: On mishits the bat makes a terrible sound like it is broken and the ball drops. Right now I believe the good, outweighs the bad, but on a jam shot or pop-up, an aluminum bat may be more forgiving. It marks up easily and based on other reviews I am constantly cleaning it and checking for cracks to be safe. I hope it last because right now its an amazing purchase.

Pros: 12 year old son loves the bat and it's pop despite the bat being fragile. Rawlings has been amazing in the customers service with 2 bats being cracked in the span of 1 1/2 months. Durability Jeff Yoder Parent

Pros: Bat feels great, very balanced, kids love it. Sounds like a broken wooden bat but when ball comes off barrel definitely not such. If wasn’t for results I’ve seen with the bat when 100% probably would’ve moved on by now.

Cons: Got 1st one out of box & already had a clicking sound coming from the barrel. One of the disc technology they install was loose. 2nd bat broke within another 2 weeks of using it. This time 2 piece composite where they meet loosened & broken in 2. Son is now on to his 3rd one. Hopefully 3rd one is a charm. Definitely skeptical about the durability & quality of materials. Seems extremely thin!

Pros: Bat is hot out of wrapper. This will Rawlings most returned bat in the history of their company I'm sure. The internal discs come loose and rattle around and bat's pop it once had is no more. Sounds like a baby rattle once this happens.

Cons: Wish I'd known issues sooner. Now I'm out of my 30 day return and have to go to Rawlings direct and can't get money back, only credit for their website on purchases.

BUYER BEWARE!!! AG Coach

Pros: Bat is hot out of wrapper, but will not last with the new bat construction. A bat has never been made like this before with the floating discs and Rawlings is finding out now they have made a huge mistake. This will be the most returned bat for Rawlings of all time. I returned 2 bats and my 2nd return was just my 30 day to get refund where now I'm stuck with a credit to use on the Rawlings site with numerous limitations. There is nothing buy worthy on their site and all of their older bats are prices much higher than their outside retailers. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BAT.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Approved for Babe Ruth baseball? Jesus
The Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12 does feature the USA stamp which is what Babe Ruth requires. With that said, we would not recommend a -12 bat for players that are 13 years old or older. This bat is better suited for the Cal Ripken division. A better option for the Babe Ruth division would be the Rawlings Quatro Pro -8 USA Baseball Bat: US9Q8.
Cameron
Will this come in a 27 or 28 inch length? Austin
At this point, it looks like the 29" 17 oz. Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12 will be the smallest size available for this bat.
Logan
What is the best way to break these two piece composite bats in? Jason
We suggest tee work for about 150 - 200 swings, rotating the bat every ten swings to break in the Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12. You will want to put in this work before the bat sees live pitching.
Daveron
How long is this barrel on the 30" model? How does it compare with other top end composite barrels? Scotty Baseball
The Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12 offers a significantly longer barrel than other top end composite USA bats.
Logan
What is the warranty for this bat? Ryan
This Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat (USZQ12) features a 12 month manufacturer warranty with Rawlings.
Ben
At what temperature should you not use this bat? And what may happen if you do use it at a colder temperature? Steve
We generally suggest to use a backup bat once it starts to get around 45-50 degrees for any model if you can. Colder temperatures make the ball slightly more dense, and this puts more stress on the bat at impact, which puts it at a higher risk of durability issues.
Kyle
What is the weight of 29" bat? marshalll
The 2020 Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12 is a -12, which means that the weight is 17 ounces.
Tori
Will this have less pop than the drop 10? Which would be better for a 13 yr old? Swing a 31” drop 10 or a 32” drop 12. Jason Wessels
The performance and durability would indeed better for a 13 year old with a -10 bat option. A -12 bat is not meant to handle the velocity of pitching for 14U players. In general, most 13 year old players have started working towards -8 or -5 models in preparation of the high school standard of BBCOR (-3).
Daveron
When does the USSSA version come out? GEORGE
At this time (4/9/19) we are not aware of when Rawlings will be releasing a comparable USSSA model in the Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12.
Cameron
I was looking at a 29'' 19 oz for my son in the 2019 Quatro Pro. If I go with the 2020 -12 would you suggest a 29'' 17 oz or 30'' 18 oz? Jay
I would recommend going with the 30'' 18 oz in the Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12 because of the extremely light swing weight of the model. The Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12 also will feature a 30 day guarantee, which will allow you to try it out for 30 days from your purchase and if it isn't the right fit for your son send it back for a full exchange or refund.
Max
What age is this for? Brandon
The Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12 is intended for younger youth players. In general, this bat would be good for players 10 year and younger.
Daveron
Just received this bat and there is a rattling sound in the barrel of the bat. Is this normal or did I receive a defective bat? Wes Takeuchi
This 2020 Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat (USZQ12) should not come with a rattle. Was your order placed from JustBats? (I could not find an order for this Quatro Pro with your name or email address). [NP]
Ben
Hey, I bought this bat and everyone thinks it broke by the sound and a couple weird hits. How would I tell if it's actually cracked on the barrel? I just see other reviews saying they had a cracked barrel and got a replacement. Anthony Granger
When a composite bat breaks, like the Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12, one would notice major splitting in the barrel composite. Spider-web cracking is a normal occurrence within composite bats and does not affect performance or durability.

My 9 year old son used the (Marucci CAT -10 USA Baseball Bat: MSBC10USA) 29/19 this summer and fall and had good luck with it. What size/drop should I get him in the Quatro Pro 30 drop -12 or go with the 29 drop -10? Will
Would not recommend dropping down to a drop 12 bat, like the Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 USA Baseball Bat: USZQ12, unless the player was struggling with the previous bat and the weight of it. If the player was having success with a 29/19 bat, then I would go to 30/20.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
