Description

Louisville Slugger Prime -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9X1020
Give this season's pitchers something to fear with this new Louisville Slugger Prime bat. Designed with industry-leading technology and sophistication, this high end baseball bat combines strength and agility, making this USSSA bat effective for both utility and power hitters. With its -10 drop weight, this bat is lightweight enough to get it through the strike zone with swiftness.

Bat Benefits
Find the sweet spot more easily with Louisville Slugger's patented Premium AVC Microform Composite construction. This new design provides a stable, consistent barrel without sacrificing power. It also ensures a thicker, more aggressive sweet spot on the barrel head. Have no fear leveling up your power with this bat – the VCX Vibration Control Connection System marries the handle with the barrel elegantly and keeps the power in your contact, not your hands. The independent movement of the barrel also offers a subtle slingshot effect, giving an extra edge to the muscle provided through the swing. Roping liners into the gap just got a bit easier, since the Turbine Composite end cap gives both speed and control on the swing by optimizing the shape and balance of the barrel head. And with the Premium LS Pro Comfort Grip, hands stay comfortable as you swing for the fences when you see your pitch come in through the meatiest part of the zone.

Warranty
Lousiville Slugger offers a one-year limited warranty on this bat, and all its non-wood varieties. Order now from JustBats.com for fast, free shipping!

Awesome Bat! Mark Parent

Pros: Great distance, pop and a great feeling bat. Although my son have less than 50 swings with it, he’s knocking doubles and triples with little to no break in time. He absolutely loves this bat.

Great bat until it breaks Ryan Clayborn Coach

Pros: Once broken in, has a TON of pop. Good feel, good sound, great bat.

Cons: Bat cracked in the first season of play (10u baseball, less than 25 games on the bat) despite keeping indoors except for game days, avoiding hitting anything but game balls, and never using below 65 degrees. We have seen four of these break during warranty period.

Not very durable Anonymous Parent

Pros: Very nice looking and awesome the first 3 weeks

Cons: A month after we purchased for my son the bat sounds dull and any contact with a ball isn’t good. It’s just a pop and ball drops. I’ve tried to work with the warranty but I keep getting the run-around for the past 2 weeks. At this rate it looks like we’ll just have to purchase a different bat.

Cameron
Is this a balanced bat? Rob
Yes, the Louisville Slugger Prime -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9X1020 is a balanced bat.
Tori
What's the difference between the USSSA Prime and USSSA Meta? Ryan
The Louisville Slugger Meta -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WBL2467010 has replaced the Louisville Slugger Prime -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9X1020 moving forward. The Meta will be a two-piece composite bat with a balanced swing weight as well but features a completely different set up in terms of composite barrel (EKO Composite material for a more balanced swing), connection point (VCX2 Connection Piece - greater flex for added vibration control) and end cap (GT1 End Cap - enhances the balanced swing weight of the bat).
Cameron
What does 3 piece composite mean? Is 3 piece more or less durable than 2 piece? Katie S
The Louisville Slugger Prime -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9X1020 is essentially a two-piece bat (handle and barrel are joined/fused together at a connection point). The 3rd piece is essentially the end cap. There are no bats on the market that have multiple connection points as this type of bat would break rather easily.
Cameron
Does this bat need to be broken in? And what is the procedure to do so? Brent Vodicka
Since the Louisville Slugger Prime -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9X1020 features a composite barrel it would be advisable to put the bat through a break-in period of 50-150 swings. This would consist of tee work, soft toss, front side toss, etc and the hitter should rotate the barrel a 1/4 turn every few swings. When hitting, the player need not exert 100% of max swing effort.
Cameron
Would this bat be good for a 12 year old who plays 12u AAU and 13-15 town? Would a 32/22 be okay for someone who is 5’1” and 125 lbs? Holly
The Louisville Slugger Prime -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9X1020 would be a good choice as far a top performing bat. However, based on their age and if they are going to continue playing through high school, I would recommend moving up to a -8. A -3 will be required in high school, so now is a good time to start transitioning. Based on their height and weight, I would recommend a 31''.
Tori
Is this bat the same as the Prime ONE, that I would've purchased probably a year ago, that looks very similar? J hallberg
The Louisville Slugger Prime -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9X1020 is not the same as the Prime ONE. Both bats do feature a composite barrel but the Prime ONE is a lighter bat at -12 and features a one-piece composite design.
Cameron
Would this bat be a good choice for a kid who is about to start his first year of 7u? And be used for a year or two, until he turns 10, before needing to upgrade again? Greg
Yes, the Louisville Slugger Prime -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9X1020 is a great option. This bat offers a good length and weight option for someone that age, and has good durability.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
