Get your confidence back! Danny Parent

Pros: I have gone through several bats since the rule change to USA bats. And this bat by far has done just that, give back his confidence. He lost 20 to 30 feet on most of his hits until I got this bat and now he is back to hitting balls to the fence again.

Cons: I spent way to much money on other bats and got zero results, wish I had just bought this one first.

Excellent bat. James Crawford Parent

Pros: 12 year old grandson loves this bat. One of the best bats of the maligned USA category. Coach didn't dent bat after smashing a ball to center field. Coach said he liked the bat. Bat had the best pop sound compared to the other bats at practice. Grandson consistently hit the ball further compared to the other hitters at practice. Would highly recommend this bat for USA play.

Great bat for the price Tom Coach

Pros: My 8u loves this bat. Pop is above average and he's never complained about vibration. Other kids on the team ended up either borrowing the bat or actually buying it halfway through the season

Cons: Grip started peeling a little at the end of the season, but not a big deal

Great Bat Ron S Coach

Pros: I purchased this bat for my 9 year old in December last year. I normallly purchase all our bats from Justbats, but when the changes came I purchased a forty dollar bat from Big 5. That bat lasted through a few practices and ended up getting dented at the cages. So I started doing my own research, calling other coaches, trainers, etc for their advice and got no where. I then researched the 5150 Rawlings and rolled the dice. This bat is well worth the price. I highly recommend it. This bat has pop and you can hear it when a ball is hit. My son was crushing the ball last season, he hit one over the fence and many shots hit the fence. The reason I chose Rawlings was the quality of their bats and prior purchases before the USA bat changes.

Cons: Other players wanting to use it.

What is the difference between a USA bat and a USSSA bat? Is this a USSSA bat? Darrell Smith
Youth baseball leagues generally enforce one of two bat certifications: USA or USSSA. The main difference between these two certifications is the level of bat performance that is allowed. USA bats are designed to be lower performing (more like a wood bat) and USSSA bats will allow for higher batter performance. This Rawlings 5150 -10 USA Baseball Bat (US9510) features the USA certification. The higher performing, USSSA-version of this bat is the Rawlings VELO -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (UT9V10).
Taylor
My son currently has a Cat 7 and we are looking for a new bat I was going to check out the Cat 8 but then I saw the reviews on this one. He is still able to use USSSA approved bats, but I was going to see the difference between a USA vs USSSA. Thank you. Juan
The Rawlings 5150 -10 USA Baseball Bat: US9510 will not be as high performing as your CAT 7 USSSA certified bat. The USA approved bats will be more comparable to the performance of wood baseball bats. If you are able to use USSSA certified bat I would recommend using a USSSA, as if you are using a USA approved bat you will be at a disadvantage.
Max
How would you compare the drop 10 vs the drop 11 in terms of performance? My 12 year old who is 4'10" and only 75 lbs. tends to favor a lighter bat, but I'm afraid a drop 11 might compromise pop noticeably. Any suggestions? Bill
The pop will be the same for both models of the Rawlings 5150 USA (US9510). Power is a product of bat speed plus the mass of the bat. This means that a heavier bat swung with the same bat speed will give you better performance, but if you can swing a lighter bat with better bat speed, you can make up that difference and get the same performance. Ultimately it comes down to each player's preference and what they do best with.
Kyle
Can you explain the difference between the -11 and the -10? Erik
Between this 2019 Rawlings 5150 -10 USA Baseball Bat (US9510) and the -11 version of the same bat, the specs are going to be very similar. That being said, the -10 version might have a slightly longer length of barrel the features the full 2 5/8" barrel.
Ben
How does the barrel length compare to the 2018 model? Charlie
The barrel length of the 2019 Rawlings 5150 -10 USA (US9510) is roughly the same as the 2018 model.
Kyle
Do they not make this in a 30/20 or is it just out of stock? Corey Hickman
Rawlings did make the Rawlings 5150 -10 USA Baseball Bat: US9510 in a 30 inch 20 ounce model but we have unfortunately sold out of this size. At this time (6/17/19), we are awaiting the release of their 2020 lineup.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
