Marucci CAT8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810

Take your game to the next level with the new and improved Marucci bat lineup.

Bat Benefits

The CAT 8 USSSA Baseball Bat features a maximized barrel length that provides a wider sweet spot thanks to its longer surface area. One of the main differences from the CAT 7 is the new and improved AZ105 Alloy, the strongest aluminum on the Marucci bat line, which allows for thinner barrel walls, a higher response rate, and better durability. This Marucci bat's one-piece alloy design blends year-round durability with a traditional feel, and its ring-free barrel construction eliminates dead spots while improving flex. Its precision-balanced barrel provides a lower M.O.I. and a balanced feel that makes it easy for any style of hitter to enjoy their personal best results. New to the lineup is the 2nd Generation AV2 Anti-Vibration Knob that features an upgraded, harmonic dampening system for a better feel and less negative vibrational feedback Marucci Sports: Honor the Game.

This Marucci CAT 8 USSSA Big Barrel Bat features a -10 length to weight ratio, a 2 3/4 inch barrel, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification. The sting-free comfort knob is ergonomically-molded nylon engineered for comfort and control, complemented by a micro-perforated soft-touch grip whose extra tack makes for a no-slip hold. Every element of the CAT 8 craftsmanship comes together to earn a sterling reputation: these Marucci bats provide simply the best look and feel with the most "pop" off the bat and the least vibrational feedback, making an ideal fit for any age and strength of hitter. Marucci does it again! Matt parent

Pros: Bought the 29/19 for my son. I also have the CAT 7 29/19, which is a great bat! The CAT 8 has a more gradual taper giving it more surface area. The CAT 8 is just a tad bit heavier feeling than the CAT 7, but you would have to really be trying to notice the difference to tell. We Love the barrel! As far as size and taper, it fits between the old green Hex bat and the CAT 7. The sweet spot is insane! Really big sweet spot. Ball speed feels about the same as the CAT 7, but with a larger sweet spot. The bat looks good and should be durable.

Search No Further!!! Scott parent

Pros: So, I am not one to spend much time on a computer, but I do feel that I owe the Dad's out there who are looking for the right bat that enhances your son's ability to reach his top performance. Well Dads, search no further....this is the bat that will take your son to the next level. We have been Marucci loyalists for the past 3 years. We have put away the Eastons, and the Louisvilles since he started swinging his 18/28 Hex Alloy bat thru his 8U, 9U, and 10U seasons (Great Bat!). Just last weekend, we took it out to the ballpark to hit balls to see if he can put it over the outfield fence. He was line driving them, but either one hop or two hops into the fence. Well, it was now time for a new bat to kick off the 11U season.I read the reviews on Just Bats...and ordered the 19/29 Cat 8. Ordered it and we hit the field this Saturday morning. I pitched first two pitches, both one-hop over the fence. The third - he went YARD!!!! We have officially retired his Hex Alloy.

Cons: NONE - CAT 8 ROCKS...looking forward to the fall season!!!

AFTER OUR RESARCH...THE WINNER IS Coach Brad coach

Pros: For the last 3 yrs we have watched kids hit with bats and have looked at reviews and have bought and played with Combat Vigor, Rawlings Velo, and Adidas Aeroburner Alloy. My son loves all of these with the Aeroburner being the hottest...until now. The Cat 8 is a solid notch better and my sin smiles ear to ear. He is 12 and a leadoff contact hitter of thinner size with a great swing. This bat hit on the sweet spot smokes the ball. Low vibration to hands. Great bat. We bought 30/20 size. Worth the price. This is the priciest bat we have purchased but priced better than other brands.

Great Bat So Far JT parent

Pros: Previously bought the F5, which was a great bat (especially) for the price. Decided to spend a little more for the next bat and went with the CAT8. While the F5 definitely has good pop, the CAT8 seems to just a bit more. Where this has seemed to translate is in actual games where my son seems to be generating more pop on balls to the gaps. Also, from what I've seen, my son is getting less sting from this bat that the F5 when it's not squared up off the barrell. In summary, the F5 was a great bat (especially for the price), but the CAT8 seems to be worth the additional price. For what it's worth we've had nothing but great reviews for Marucci.

Cons: None so far.

Great Bat, FLAT SPOTS On 2 Bats Already Father of a Cat Crusher Parent

Pros: Pop for days, balanced swing weight, the bat just begs to hit hard laser beam gappers! For a one piece aluminum there is virtually zero sting on mishits which is pretty amazing on it's own.

Cons: My son (75 pound 11 year old) has already dented 2 of these. The first one was after 1 tournament and the second one was after 2 tournaments. He doesn't use them for BP or even warm ups, GAME SWINGS ONLY! Makes zero sense. I would suggest if you have this bat to roll it through your hand, you can't really see the flat spots but you can certainly feel them. Now I have to send this one into Marucci and wait. LAME

Son prefers over New Zen Rich Parent

Pros: Composite bats have a brief window where they are exceptional. The Marucci is durable and reliable. The ball jumps off my son's bat as well as it did when his Zen was broken in and before it broke. It's also less expensive which is appreciated. May son loves it.

Cons: None so far. It is very loud in an indoor cage, which the kids prefer.

Love it Tony Coach

Pros: My son's entire 8U East Cobb team uses this bat. Amazing pop, we're seeing 1-1.5mph higher exit velocities (Hittrax) with this bat over the Cat7 and definitely higher EVs with this over anything else in the category. We also own the Cat Composite (more expensive) and maybe it's not broken all the way in yet, but still the highest EVs with this regular alloy Cat8. You're costing your son some performance if you buy him anything else.

Cons: Not quite as big of a barrel as the Cat Composite, slightly less forgiving on miss-hits, but more power so far.

The King of Pop Jason Dunkel Parent

Pros: This is a great bat right out of the wrapper. Tons of pop and awesome sweet spot. The grip is super sticky, but it will wear off once it is rolled around the batter's box a few times. My son has been hitting this every night for the past 2 weeks and he still has a smile when he crushes the ball. He plays for a travel team and most of the older players and showcase players all have this bat (plus a few others), but I can say that all of them grab this bat first.

Cons: My only complaint is that I didn't get the Cat 7 last year.

Pros: Bought this for my 11 year old son. He absolutely loves it. He said he loves the feels of the bat. I can see that this bat has more pop then his other bat. I wasn't sure if the handle was really going be a big difference with the vibration but my son said he hasn't felt any vibration yet and this is coming form a kid that ALWAYS had to have the rubber knob for vibration, he has not used it with this bat so far.

Don't hesitate buying the new Cat 8 Cody Coach

Pros: This bat is hot straight out of the wrapper. Big 8yo son (59" & 100lbs) was moving up from Easton Ghost X Hyperlite (29/17) to something a bit bigger (30/20). We looked at and tried almost all high end bats on the market, but he felt most comfortable with the balance of this Cat 8. The Ghost X was a composite so I was worried about stinging on mishits. After many cage sessions, he has not had even one stinger. He raves about how much better it feels than his Ghost X. Sound is just right and he now has more confidence at the plate than ever before, which is half of the battle for travel ball at his age. Same kid, same swing, and balls are traveling significantly farther than before. It is not a cheap bat, but at this price point, I would argue that you won't find a better bat. He has recommended this bat to everyone who is willing to listen. No issues with durability so far, but just getting started on the season, so only time will tell.

Good bat Jim Other

Pros: Good cool weather bat . Bought the bat because of cool weather affecting his composite bat. In season opening double header he went 5 for 7 with a walk off dinger and 7 rbi’s. Don’t think the homer would have carried in the cool weather with a composite bat.

Cons: Don’t know yet. That’s why I gave it 3 stars for durability. My grandson has only used it for one bp and two games.

Disappointed David Fakoury Parent

Pros: Looked like a ton of pop

Cons: After 10 swings with official league baseballs the bat has at least 3 dents. One is a flat spot. My son is a 95 lb 11 year old and is pretty disappointed. I don't normally do bad reviews, but I got this bat because of all the great reviews. I know either just bats or marucci will make it right, but another of these bats will not be good enough.

Absolutely best USSSA bat Rick Parent

Pros: This bat actually has pop. My son has 3 bats in his arsenal. A CAT-7 (about $180), a Zen($350), and this Cat-8. Both the other bats are decent, but the Cat-8 is worlds above both the others and priced about in the middle. Since this bat was bought half the kids on the team hit with it. The sweet spot is almost from the taper to the end. Definitely the best bang for the buck.

Cons: Not USA approved.

WHY WOULD YOU BUY ANYTHING ELSE....SERIOUSLY! BT Coach

Pros: My son used at -10 30/20 for age 13 Select. By the end of the season he had cracked it but it still performed even cracked. Marucci replaced it and we are on to next year. I research and buy bats for my son to try. By far this bat not only has best sweet spot, low vibration and best pop of anything in this price range or higher. If Marucci keeps this up I don't need to research or buy anything else. Love this bat. Don't change anything on quality or price Marucci, you are cornering the market. Thanks.

Great bat for 11U travel ball Steve Parent

Pros: Just got this bat for my 11 year old playing his first year of travel ball. After using a USA baseball bat for the last 3 years, this bat was very much appreciated. It has great pop and a nice big sweet spot. Vibration is minimal even for balls hit off the end or the handle. The bat also has a distinct loud “ping” and teammates usually take notice when you hear it. About half of the players on my son’s team use the CAT8, so this is clearly a very popular bat.

Cons: This bat has been used quite a bit in just 2 weeks as we have a batting cage at our house. There are a couple of small dings and the bat has only been used to hit real leather baseballs. I’m not sure about the durability, but time will tell.

So far, so good Scott Parent

Pros: The ball seems to jump off the bat compared to USA bats and even other USSSA bats, ie, distance in hits has been 10-20 feet farther compared to other USSSA bats. It seems durable and solid so far. Need a little more time to gauge true durability. Swing is balanced and player really likes it. No complaints regarding vibration. Went with a 29” for an average-sized 9 year old even though usually uses a 28”. The extra length hasn’t been an issue.

Good choice Larry Wirtz Parent

Pros: This bat is a world of difference from his other bat, different brand. This is our first time buying a Marucci. My son is hitting the ball with a higher exit speed and more distance. He really noticed the expanded sweet spot. As far as the vibration goes, way less than anything he has hit with before. He said he has felt no uncomfortable sting and he has hit the ball outside of the sweet spot.

Cons: Do not have any at this time. But this a lot higher end bat than what he has used in the past. USA bats. He has moved on to an 8U travel team. So, this is USSSA bat.

Pros: Got the 30/20 brown and gold. Sons first choice when the pressure is on. Big sweet spot. Tons of pop. Easy to swing. Exit velo off the tee is consistently a mph or 2 higher than his cat9 alloy and 23' meta

Cons: Not much vibration but it can happen on badly hit balls. I added a wrap on top of the factory wrap to take almost all the sting out.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Marucci CAT8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Will they make a 2 5/8 in the -10? Jay
Unfortunately as of right now, we are only aware of the 2 3/4" version of a -10 like this Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 being manufactured by Marucci.
Tyler
Which bat will have a longer or larger barrel the Marucci cat 8 -10 or the Marucci Cat 8 -8? Both in a 29 inch 2 3/4 barrel. joe1
If you order the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 in a 29'' and a -8 in the same 29'' the barrel will be the same exact length.
Max
When will the shorter lengths be released? Moodyfour
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 was released in sizes 27 - 31 inches. We currently only have 30 and 31" available in stock. You can add your email address to our notifications for the smaller sizes and you will be notified when that size is back in stock.
Daveron
When do you expect to get the 28 inch drop 10 in stock? wolfe
Typically speaking, it takes about 2-4 weeks after we run out for the manufacturers to provide us with more inventory. However, considering the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 just released that time frame may be shorter than that.
Tyler
Is this bat approved for 11u baseball? Kenny
This bat has the 1.15 BPF USSSA stamp for travel baseball. It does not have the USA stamp for Little League play.
Kyle J.
What is the difference in the Marucci Senior League Cat 8 and the Marucci Junior Big Barrel Cat 8? Samboe
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 will be intended to be used in all kid pitch leagues. Any Junior Big Barrel bat is constructed to be used for coach/machine pitch baseball and should not be used at any velocity above 40mph.
Tyler
If I order the bat through your company and there are any defects in the bat such as bending or cracking within a year. Do I send it back through your company? G
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 comes with a 12-month manufacturer's warranty. If your bat becomes defective within a year from the date of purchase, the warranty claim would be handled through Marucci directly. However, we are happy to provide instructions, contact information, and an UPS shipping label as an assistance to our customers.
Daveron
What's the difference between the -10 CAT 8 27” inch bat and the junior barrel CAT 8 27"? Billy D
The difference between this Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 and the Junior Big Barrel model is that the Junior Big Barrel bat is made for use in coach and machine pitch, while this bat it to be used at kid pitch levels.
Tyler
Would this bat be okay for a 7 year old in coach pitch? Flash
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 would be a great option for a 7 year old coach player. At his age, I would suggest the 27" 17 ounce Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810.
Logan
My 9 year old son is 72lbs and 4 ft 5" and a contact hitter. Is this a good bat for his size? Length? neil
Yes, the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 would be an excellent option. Furthermore, given his specifications I would recommend a 29" bat.
Tyler
Is this the bat for someone who play's travel on a 12U team? He's 5'5" and 115 lbs. What length would you recommend? He played last year with a 32" bat and had a 1.011 OPS. MarkB
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 I would imagine will be one of the top bats of for travel baseball. I would recommend sticking at 32'' length based on his height, weight and success that your player has had.
Max
Whats’s the difference between this model and the Jr version? Vic
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 is constructed for higher velocities (kid pitch) compared to the Junior Big Barrel which is constructed for coach/machine pitch (max ~40mph.)
Tyler
Can this bat be used for coach pitch? My son plays 8u coach pitch but will start kids pitch next year. What bat do you guys recommend? Jr perez
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 is designed for kids pitch but can certainly be used for coach pitch as well. If your son will be playing kids pitch next year then the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 would be a great bat to get now as well as to use down the road. The one-piece alloy design features a balanced swing weight feel and the AV2 knob design helps eliminate almost all of the vibration a player would feel from an off-centered hit.
Cameron
Can this be used in PONY league? Jose
PONY baseball requires the use of either a USA or BBCOR certified bat. With the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 being USSSA certified, it will not be legal for play in PONY leagues.
Logan
My son is 4'7", and maybe 70 lbs. He swings his teammate's CAT 7 28/20 and CAT 8 29/19 well enough. Would getting a 30/20 and choking up be a good idea? william
Based on his height and weight, the 29'' is the suggested size for him. He would probably be able to get a 30'' in the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 and use it just fine.
Tori
Is this bat end loaded? Kyle
No, the Marucci Cat 8 is a balanced model.
Kyle J.
Thoughts about the correct size. My son is 9, turning 10 next June and I'm torn between the 29/19 and 28/18. He's 54" tall and weighs 68 lbs. He used a teammate's CAT 7 27 inch and I was going to go to the 29, but it seems a lot heavier. I'd like the bat to at least last a year. Thoughts about going to a 28 or 29 inch? Joe Pavone
With the size specs provided, we would suggest the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 in the 29" / 19 oz option. The bat may require some practice; however, your player will only continue to get stronger. Your player would outgrow the smaller size fairly quickly.

What is the difference between the -10 Cat 8 and the composite -10 Cat 8? The one-piece is about $120 less than the composite. Greg
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 is constructed out of alloy material, which is less expensive to manufacture than composite materials. Alloy will conduct more vibrations, but also be hot out of the wrapper when compared directly to composite.
Tyler
Which is better for 10U CAT 8 alloy or composite? Chris
In my opinion, I would proceed with the alloy model. The reason I lean towards the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (MSBC810) is because it will not require a break-in period and therefore your 10u player would be able to utilize it right away.
Tyler
I am looking at the 28/18 for my 9 Year old and am wondering if this bat has good pop in all weather conditions? We play some games early in the season in 40 degree weather and then play in July in 95 degree weather. If not, please recommend me to one that is better in all weather conditions. He loves hitting a Marucci thanks, Jake Grizzard
Generally speaking aluminum models such as this Cat 8 -10 (MSBC810) perform better in colder weather and are a bit more durable than composite models in cold weather (below 50 degrees). This would be an excellent option for you in my opinion.
Kyle J.
What material is this bat? Jordan
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 is made from alloy (AZ105).
Cameron

My son is 9 and we are looking at the new Cat8. He is in kid pitch, but the bat we found says “Coach Pitch Only” or something like that. The next Cat8 is a Senior League bat and has a smaller sweet spot. Will the Coach pitch bat hold up? John
To answer your last question, no the coach pitch model would not hold up to the rigors of a kid pitch season. Furthermore, most leagues would not even allow use of that bat in a kid pitch game. You would want to proceed with the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 as it is the correct bat for your player.
Tyler
Does this bat come with the USA label that is required by a little league? My son is 11 and I want to make sure I get the correct bat. Is there a difference between a youth big barrel and a regular barrel? Robert Walsh
No, this bat does not have the USA certification stamp. It has the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp as indicated by the "USSSA" in the title. For a USA bat, you can use the "Approved By" search filter on our site and select "USA Bat" to be shown bats certified for Little League/Babe Ruth youth use. The term "Youth Big Barrel" simply refers to a youth bat with a barrel larger than 2 1/4", and intended for kid pitch use.

What is difference between this and the Louisville Omaha 519? Jeff Bruner
The main difference is that the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 offers an anti-vibration know making contact much more comfortable for the player. This is not common for one-piece alloy bats as they typically create sting in the hands on poor contact.
Tyler
What is the difference between the MSBC810 and the MJBC88? Kara Hanley
The difference between the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 and the Marucci CAT 8 -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC88 is the drop weight of the bat. The drop weight is the length to weight ratio of the bat. The MSBC810 features a -10 length to weight ratio so sizes will be 27" 17oz, 29" 19oz and so on. The MSBC88 features a -8 length to weight ratio so sizes will be 28" 20oz, 29" 21oz, and so on.
Dani
Which bat would you consider to be better for all around performance and power, the Marucci Cat 8 29/19 or the Marucci Hex Connect 29/19? Chris
While performance between the two bats will be the same (if the bat is stationary), the stiffer one piece construction of the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 typically benefits a power hitter, while the two piece fully composite construction of the Marucci Hex Connect Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCX10 offers a larger hitting surface and is more forgiving on off center hits.
Logan
Will they weigh close to what is stated? Frank
Virtually any bat on the market will weigh 1-1.5 oz heavier than the listed amount. A test model that I just weighed of this Marucci Cat 8 -10 came in at .7 oz over the listed amount, so it seems to be more accurate than other models at least.
Kyle J.
I'm looking for a great USSSA bat for my son. Is this the one I should get, or are there others that we should look at? scott gerber
Currently, the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 has been one of our most popular and highest rated USSSA bats out there. It would be hard to suggest another that would be better!
Logan
We just received this bat. We have the 30 inch -10. I ordered this bat for my 10 year old playing USSSA. It has the USSSA stamp on it but it also says ‘Senior League”. Is this approved for USSSA youth? Gregory Lolley
Yes, this bat is approved for USSSA play. "Senior League" is just another common term for USSSA play, and references kid pitch leagues.
Kyle J.
What is the difference between the MSBC810 vs the MJBBC8? Edgar Acevedo
The MJBBC8 is a "Junior Big Barrel" bat, which means it is designed for machine pitch and coach pitch, and won't hold up very well in kid pitch leagues. The MSBC810 is the kid pitch bat.
Kyle
My son is 4-11 and weights 78 pounds. What size bat do you recommend? He is currently using a Hex Alloy 29/19, would he see much benefit with the cat 8? Ryan
Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest moving up to a 30" length. The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 does offer an improved alloy material and larger sweet spot than the Hex Alloy.
Logan
So I purchased this bat, a 30'' 20 oz for my son for Christmas from you guys. He loves it, great pop, great stick! After 2 months of cage work it's looking used! Is there any way to safely clean the barrel? Thanks Jay
There is a good way to clean ball marks off the barrel of your Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810. I would recommend rubbing a new tennis ball in a circle motion on the ball marks, this will help clean the ball marks and will not damage the bat.
Max
Does Cal Ripkin League allow this bat for the 11 year old age group? Bob
No, the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (MSBC810) would not be allowed in the Cal Ripken League. The Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken League requires the use of USA certified bats and because the CAT 8 features the USSSA bat certification, it would not be allowed.
Taylor
I have a question on bat size. My son is currently 11, almost 12 in a few months, he’s about 5’6'' and weighs 135-140 lbs. He’s debating on getting a 31'' since his current 30'' is feeling “small.” Can I get some input? Yessie Vargas
Based on your son's height and weight, the best size to get the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 in would be a 32''. However, if he wanted to just move up an inch to make the transition a little easier, he could definitely do that without a problem
Tori
marucci cat 8 we saw in store was labeled senior we want the cat 8 usssa in 31/21 why does the store bat at say senior? (NP) harry topping
Harry, thanks for the question. Senior League is an older term to refer to USSSA, kid pitch baseball. The terms can be used interchangeably. They are the same models. (NP)
Tyler
Does temperature affect bat, is there a certain temperature it shouldn't be used? Tim
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 features an alloy barrel. Unlike composite barrels, alloy options do not experience durability concerns in colder temperatures.
Daveron
Does the Marucci CAT 8 come in a 32 inch -10? Patrick
The largest option of the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 would be 31 inches. To get a 32" Marucci Cat series, you would have to move towards a -8 or -5 option.
Daveron

What is the difference between the Marucci CAT 8 and the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal? I love marucci
The only difference between the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (MSBC810) and the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (MSBP2810S) is the colorway and cosmetic design.
Taylor
What is the difference between the MJBBC8 and the MSBC810? Julie Holzmeister
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 is constructed for younger players in machine or coach pitch. This option is not meant to meet pitching velocity over 40 mph. The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 will be for your intermediate youth players in kid pitch.
Daveron
What’s the difference between this bat and the Jr big barrel? I’m looking for a 27/17 bat. Jorge
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 would be used by those players who are playing in a kid pitch league. A Junior Big Barrel bat will be used by players between the ages of 6-8 who are in coach pitch leagues. The reason for this is that a Junior Big Barrel bat can only withstand velocity up to about 40 MPH.
Cameron
Should I go with the 1.00 mm or 1.75 mm diameter grip for an 11-year-old? Robert
Grip thickness is a purely personal preference decision, so it's difficult to say. Generally speaking though, 1.00 mm will be more common than 1.75, especially for younger players with smaller hands, so I would lean towards that option.
Kyle
Why does it say "Senior League" on its side? Just confirming this is a USSSA bat for my 10 and 11 year olds! Brian Ring
Senior league is another term used for USSSA bats. The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 is USSSA certified.
Tori
11u 4'9" and 115 lbs. Needs a great bat with pop. Swings -10 31/19 old COMBAT and loves it. Any recommendations? Exit velocity avg. is 58 MPH. Tony
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 has shown to be both a highly durable and performing bat according to those that have been using it. Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend this bat in a 30 inch.
Cameron
CAT 8 vs Rawlings 5150 USSSA. What are the advantages of CAT 8? Sean
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 will feature more vibration control when compared to the Rawlings 5150. This is due to the 2nd Generation AV2 knob that Marucci features on the CAT 8 series. Other than that, both bats are one-piece alloy models with balanced swing weights.
Cameron
What is the difference between this one and the junior big barrel version of this bat? I notice the price but wanted to know the details. My son is 8 and is playing coach pitch this year and want to make the better decision for him. Chris Medrano
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 is constructed for kid pitch. Its true weight will come in a little heavier. The junior big barrel option is not constructed to withstand more than coach/machine pitching of 40mph.
Daveron
My son had the bat for 3 days, hit with it for the first time, and the bat broke in half. Someone mentioned this was a new problem with the Cat 8? Is that true? Allie
I actually have not heard of a high amount of durability complaints on the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (MSBC810). That being said, odd things can happen on an isolated basis. If your bat was purchased within the past 12 months, you would still be under the 12 month warranty from Marucci. I would recommend reaching out to Marucci and organizing a return for replacement if it is under the 12 months from the purchase.
Ben
My son will play 12U travel next year. Currently uses a 30 inch drop 10 USA bat, 2 5/8" barrel. We want a CAT 8. drop 10 but unsure if we should go to 31 inch or stay with 30. He's 4' 11'' now and 90 lbs. in 3-4 months he could use a 31 inch but will the bat last 2 years? mike
With the player specs listed, yes, your player may be able to move up to a 31" of the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810. However, something to consider, 13U USSSA play regulates players to use a -8 bat or heavier. This -10 will only be good for your player until he moves up to 13U play.
Daveron
Would this be a good/comparable replacement for the Hex Alloy 2 (MSBHA2X10 with the AZ105 alloy)? Other than cosmetics, is there any difference between the CAT 8 and the newest Posey 28? All my research has said no, but I want to be sure (he is a catcher and loves Posey, so if they are the same.....) Robert
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 would be an excellent option to consider for someone that has used the Hex Alloy 2 previously. Both of these bats will feature the same AZ105 alloy. As for the CAT 8 and the Posey28, the barrel taper is slightly different on the Posey28 and this difference will give the two bats a different balanced feel. Which one is ultimately more balanced could be debated as it would be more based on personal opinion than anything else.
Cameron

My son plays 12u travel baseball and needs a USSSA bat. Last year he used an Easton Mako 2 1/4 barrel 31” 20 oz. He’s grown in the last year and is 5’5” and around 170 pounds. Thinking of switching to the big barrel Cat 8. We are pretty sure he needs to go up to a 32” just want to make sure though and not sure what weight to go with. He is a strong power hitter. Thanks! Ken
Based off the information provided, I would suggest the 32" 27 oz.
