A solid crack on the bat starts with swing speed, which is why this Louisville Slugger sports a new Speed Ballistic Composite end cap that slices through the air without sacrificing control. The patented VCX technology allows for independent movement between the barrel and the handle that controls vibration and provides unmatched feel on contact. VCXTM technology creates a feel unique to each sport and player type. The balanced swing weight lets the bat do some of the work when you're hitting for power, or when you need that extra swing speed to push your momentum to the max. Great USA bat Dadof3 Parent
Pros: Real good pop, virtual no vibration. My son loves it
Cons: Need 200-300 swings to get it going
Caden’s bat Caden Hopkins Player
Pros: Zero vibration , great pop!
Cons: Sweet spot a little smaller than a zen.
Amazing bat Perfect A Son Player
Pros: No vibration at all no matter where you hit it. Amazing pop and not even broken in yet. Balance is good could be a little better but it’s not bad. It feels so good every time and just an outstanding bat.
Cons: May need to break in around 150-300 hits. A little tip roate the bat a little every hit it will break it in faster.
shows sign of wear instantly Brian Parent
Pros: Good swing, good weight balance
Cons: The coating they use comes off with almost every hit. I expect better out of a bat at this price range.
Excellent Jon Parent
Pros: My 12yo hits this bat extremely well. Almost hit 3 dingers but hit the fence.
Cons: None
No pop out of the box TJ Long Parent
Pros: Very little vibration I guess.
Cons: No pop. 200-300 swings, not seeing any break in. Disappointed would be an understatement. Demarini USA bat has a lot better pop, couldn’t find -8 tho.
USA best Keith Stancill Coach
Pros: Got this late in the season , but the big kids have no trouble with it. Good POP. Hit 5 diggers with it and counting.
Cons: All the kids want to hit with it and they just can't get it around.
Great feel Stefen Parent
Pros: No getting used to. Great feel. Comfortable
Cons: Nothing so far
great bat david Parent
Pros: my son loves it!!! Now the other kid uses it!!! i guess that could be a good thing..
Cons: None so far..
Very Solid TH Coach
Pros: No vibration, feels extremely solid when the ball is hit.
Cons: Not a criticism of the bat, but make sure the kid is ready to swing something heavier and end loaded. My kid has trouble getting the 32/24 around, and is popping up a lot more with it. Should have stuck with 31/21 through this season, now he won't go back to his Omaha (which is a great $99 bat.)
Pros and cons Christian Faulstich Player
Pros: This bat gas so much pop, and has a great feel off the barrel, it fells like a composite bat, when really it’s an alloy barrel
Cons: The grip on the bat wears out fast, don’t let any of you teammates use it
On FIRE !!!! Scott Owens Parent
Pros: Great Bat My 12u Player Hit 3 Bombs so Far this weekend 2 in one game in The State Semi Finals. The bat is a game changer. The -8 isn't for everyone....You need power! Great Price compared to Sporting goods stores and Batting Cage Stores
Cons: Didn't Buy it sooner....
Coach's review Jr Coach
Pros: Love the end load and pop that comes off this bat
Cons: No at this time
Still Great!! Peter Moon Parent
Pros: Great feel and balanced swing. Looking forward to using this bat during this fall season
Cons: None
No pop out of the box - disappointing Paul LaBelle Parent
Pros: Nice looking bat, durability seems good.
Cons: My 11 year old son got this bat for 7th grade school ball and is completely disappointed with the performance out of the box and it doesn’t seem like it will get any better with a break in. Sweet spot hits don’t go very far into the outfield. Hits not on the sweet spot barely leave the infield on the ground.
Great potential! Jasen Myers Coach
Pros: Solid feel. No vibration. Great price, and quick delivery! Just off-season cage sessions for my 8u travel baller now. Building strength/bat speed for next spring with the -8.
Cons: None yet
Money well spent Josh Boskie Other
Pros: My son has been crushing the ball with his new bat
Cons: I didn’t buy the bat in the spring
good bat Papi Dinger Player
Pros: good for contact hitters, durabilty is outstanding
Cons: doesn't fly off the bat too much
Great USA bat Chris Jackson Parent
Pros: Good pop for a USA bat; very durable and nice balanced feel; grip is nice too My son has used several USA bats and this is definitely his favorite.
Cons: Seems a little heavier than most -8
Loses pop very fast! Kyle Coach
Pros: Feels great In the hands and well balanced bat.
Cons: Out of the box it has some pop. After 100 or so hits these bats die off hard! My son used the drop 8 and after a couple practices and games solid hit line drives were dying in the infield. Let other kids try it same results. Same kids different bat (Cat 7) the ball went twice as far. Not wanting to lose out on the money we got a new bat under warranty. Started out of the box great for about a week and we're back to solid hit balls dying off again. Same issue with an 11u team that uses this bat in drop 10 that i help coach. These USA bats are made of extremely inferior alloys. If your league allows USSSA BPF 1.15 stamped bats do yourself a favor and buy those instead!
Love it ?? Andrew Parent
Pros: Balanced Bat with a lot of pop
Cons: None so far
Select 719-8 Thaddeus Coach
Pros: My son has done a gew batting practices with his new 719-8 bat. I can see the difference in the pop and he is really excited about his new bat so far. He says they're isn't any vibration in his hands. He is twelve and is swinging the 30"drop 8 very well. Lots of hits into the outfield.
Cons: We will have to wait and see. Just got it a few weeks ago.
Breaking in an alloy?? Mavererik Coach
Pros: Not sure where, who or why people think an alloy can be broken in but theres no such thing. Composite yes. An alloy will be hot of of wrapper and at max performance. Been hearing this breaking in alleys more and more lately no idea how it started but doesn't exist.
Cons: Ridiculous
BAt Chris Acosta Player
Pros: That bat feels good no complaints yet has a lot of pop for a USA bat.
Cons: Non so far.
Probably the best -8 bat out there Parker Parent
Pros: Big sweet spot, nice balanced feel, still breaking it in, so hard to tell how the pop is yet - it's good on a fresh bat, but should improve as it breaks in. My son likes the smooth matte finish. He's been using a Select since 9U travel ball and they never disappoint. We've also never broken a Louisville end cap, while my other son has blown out 3 different Demarini end caps - Louisville does this right! The grip is also better quality that other brands and matches the rest of the bat.
Cons: The paint started chipping in the first cage session, not terribly, but I wasn't expecting that in an indoor cage with quality leather covered balls.
Found the perfect bat Peter Cadiz Parent
Pros: Son tried a lot of bats that was to hype for its popularity…but nothing couldn’t compare to the Louisville slugger period!
Cons: N A D A (nothing)
Ben Dover Player
Pros: No vibration and is durable
Cons: Swings like a log No pop at all
Great bat Anonymous Player
Pros: Best bat I have ever swung very light great pop
Cons: None

I'm looking for a transition bat for my son who will be 13 next year, playing in Pony League. He is a high average hitter, but hasn't hit his growth spurt yet and doesn't rely on power. About the Brand
In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.
After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.
The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.
The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
