Constructed with the patented Missile Forged Alloy (MFA), this bat is super lightweight, giving you extra bat speed for driving the ball at the plate. This USA baseball bat also includes the 3Fusion tapered handle, a streamlined design that provides better balance and feel on impact and helps protect hands from the occasional blistering squib off the bat. The Big D end cap also helps to equalize the weight and balance of the bat, further ensuring peak performance and accuracy through your swing. The barrel of the bat is forged with the sturdy Half + Half Alloy. This, coupled with the Missile Forged Alloy, will give you lightning bat speed. DeMarini: Can't Stop!

This DeMarini Sabotage baseball bat (WTDXUML) has a drop 12 length to weight ratio, the first 2 3/8 barrel diameter, and comes with USA Baseball certification. This bat is ultra balanced, meaning that the combination of alloys in the grip and barrel will provide stability, comfort and control. Glad we made the purchase KB parent

Pros: My son has been able to use this bat a few times now. He loves it. I was a little worried because the barrel is much smaller than his big barrel he was hitting with last season but it hasn't made a difference at all. The bat is very light which allows him to swing a little faster. The big Pro for him is the lack of vibration. He said occasionally he will feel a slight vibration but it is not even close to what he was feeling last season with his Rawlings bat. Glad we made the purchase.

Great bat so far James parent

Pros: The bat has good pop, but not great but not sure any USA stamped bats have great pop. The balance of the bat is good. My son loves the feel and distribution of the weight. The barrel size is also a plus. I was worried after he was hitting with the bigger barrel bats that coming down to the 3/8 would hurt but it hasn't. The two piece design is a little weird looking at first but I think it has helped with the vibrations. Overall, it's still early but the bat seems to be a winner.

Worth a chance David parent

Pros: My 8 yr old is the smaller side but even with it's heavier than expected weight he really enjoys swinging it. In his hands it does appear to have a little more pop than the first round of USA bats. The two piece design definitely cuts down on vibration which is a big plus at practice. The increase in pop together with the decrease in vibration has lead to increased confidence at the plate. It also seems to be a popular bat with his teammates.

Cons: We purchased the 27/15 looking for a lighter bat in the 15-17 range. While the kids like the feel and pop, it still weighs a whopping 18 oz.

Not bad for a USA bat Bryant Christensen Coach

Pros: No sting at all. Well balanced, light. I got the 27 - 15 model. I coach 7 - 8 year olds and the smaller kids love this bat because it never hits them back. I think if I got a bigger size the bigger kids might like it too, but I am not going to drop another $200 on a bat that doesn't perform any better than a $30 big barrel with the USA stamp from Walmart. The $30 Walmart bat is actually the best performer on my team. I won't mention the brand here, but it is one of the major manufacturers.

Cons: Not much pop. I was hoping for better performance, but the USA certification is holding it back I suspect. If you are restricted to using USA bats by your league I recommend saving your money and buying a cheap big barrel in the biggest size your kid can swing comfortably. It will sting a little sometimes, but that sting does't hurt so bad when the ball is sailing over the shortstop's head, and your kid will get stronger with every swing.

Demarini doesn't stand by its product Matt Spencer Coach

Pros: My son likes the feel of it

Cons: After only a few practices this two part bat broke in two. I went through the hassle of sending it back only to get a new bat that has the words "warranty replacement" etched into it. The packing slip stated and the Demarini website states that customers are only eligible for one warranty replacement. What if this bat, the only one that I've seen break in two due to the flawed design, breaks again... I'm just out $200? Come on Demarini... make durable bats and stand by your product!

Perfect for undersized kids Bobby Mesker Parent

Pros: Lightweight Pop Minimum vibration Gives undersized hitter confidence to swing Cost was ok

Cons: None Best USA bat I have seen. I’m a college coach with undersized 6 and 9 year olds. I was very disappointed in Last years USA bats and felt they were not good for smaller players. Actually, really bad for their development as a player. I looked at wood bats even. This year the sabotage has helped my boys and everyone on their teams are using them now.

$200 Bat lasted 3 months Dave P Parent

Pros: Very nice balance. My 8 year old loved the bat speed he could get with a 28" bat. Overall excellent feel with almost no hand sting.

Cons: It is slightly heavier than advertised and lacks the "pop" of other bats. Ours also broke after three months. It seperated at the joint of ghe two pieces. Waiting to see if DeMarini will stand behind it.

Pros: Good Feel Player really liked this bat until....(see the cons)

Cons: Durability! Our original broke. DeMarini warrantied the bat. The warranty replacement broke the exact same way. There is obviously a serious design/durability flaw. All of this happened in the span of 3 months. Didn't even get a full season out of two of these bats.

Great bat for my 7 yo grandson BUT..... K. Wilson Coach

Pros: Good pop, minimal vibration, swings easy

Cons: This is the second bat to fail this season at the point where the handle inserts into the barrell. Same exact model. Maybe a problem with the epoxy adhesive. Have to send the bat back to Demarini, have them inspect it, and then wait on them to send it back. Meanwhile, we don't have his preferred bat available. AGAIN

Decent bat at most Luis Velasco Coach

Pros: No sting, Above average pop, well balanced for hitter.

Cons: The 2 piece connection is held together by a 1/8" diameter pin. How do I know this? The barrel flew off at the batting cage. My son didn't use it that much after purchase because of the covid shut down. Now that things are starting to open here, we decided to play. Bat has literally less than 150 swings. A pin should be made from an alloy material cmon Demarini!!

Good bat, but heavier than advertised. Wayne Coach

Pros: Bat has held up well, no dents or cracks after nearly 5+ months of Rec + Travel. My son has never once complained of vibrations.

Cons: Purchased a 28/16 for my son. I have replaced the OEM grip with a Lizard Skin 1.1mm grip, and after weighing the bat on my kitchen scale it comes to 18.6oz, that's 2.6 oz heavier than it should be, making it nearly drop 9 .

Disappointed Doug McClintic Parent

Pros: The bat was hot out of the wrapper. We bought this bat to backup the Sabotage 2020 that the bat head came flying off the handle. My son liked it better than the 2020 .

Cons: Within 10 days the same problem occurred which we had with the 2020 Sabotage. First we heard a rattle inside the barrel then the barrel became loose and cracks began to appear in the metal where it attached to the handle. Very difficult working with the company.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is 49 inches and weighs 50 lbs. He has been using a Rawlings RX4. I would like to upgrade his bat. What bat would you recommend and what size? Thank you! AmyBolch23
Given your player's specifications, I would recommend the 27" model of this DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML.
Tyler
How does this bat perform is colder weather? Any concern for the comp. handle? Natedog
Although we cannot say for sure how the DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML may hold up in colder weather there should be no issues with regards to the composite handle.
Cameron
My son is 9 years old 90 lbs. What length would you recommend? Even though he's big for his age, he had trouble swinging his Louisville Slugger Omaha. EC
The average 9 year old usually swings a 29" bat. If your player is a little bigger than his friends, you could go up to a 30" DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML.
Logan
My 6yo son is 51” and he weighs about 60lbs. He currently uses a 28”/16oz bat, but he constantly hits balls to the right side of the field as a R hand hitter. Should we be looking at a shorter bat for him? Jim
Based on his specifications, you could look into a 27" model of this DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML and it would be a more controllable size for him.
Tyler
My son will be 11 in one month. He is 4' 8" and 75 lbs. He has a long swing which causes him to be late on faster pitchers. To speed up his swing I'm looking at the 29/17 -12 Sabotage. What do you think? Big Steve
The DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML is a very light swinging model, and one of the lightest in all of the USA models. I think this would be a great choice for your player.
Tyler
What is the actual weight of the 27/15? Not advertised weight but actual weight. Mike in Macon
The DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML will come in roughly 1.9 ounces heavier than the listed weight.
Cameron
My son is 10 and is maybe 48" and 68lbs. He is a very good contact hitter. He has used the Solo 618 and Ghost Hyperlite. Both are 28". Would this DeMarini be a good choice even though it will be a 2 3/8 barrel? Jon
Sadly, we only have one review at the time of your question. However, I think this DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat (WTDXUML) will be a solid bat, especially if you are wanting a lighter swinging USA bat. I don't think the 2 3/8" diameter will inhibit your player's performance.
Ben
Does this bat require a "break-in". No, right? Because only the handle is composite but the barrel itself is alloy. Frank
The DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML will not require a break-in. As you mentioned, this bat has a hybrid design with the alloy barrel and composite handle; any bat that features an alloy barrel will be ready to go from swing #1.
Cameron
What other lightweight bats do you recommend at 27 inches? My first impression is that this bat feels a lot heavier than advertised. frank
The vast majority of the bats unfortunately will not come in under the listed weight and that is no different for this DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML; on average, 1.9 ounces heavier. At this time there is not much on the market within the -12 length to weight ratio so it may be worth considering a -11 model of bat.
Cameron
Does this product have a 30 day money back or swap guarantee like the Rawlings Quatro that is on the site? Jeremy
The DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML will not have a 30 day trial as the Rawlings Quatro does.
Max
My son is 8 1/2 years old, and he is 4' 6" and 70 lbs. Very athletic but not too experienced in baseball so not an aggressive swinger - more of a contact hitter. Looking for an easy swinging bat with low sting as he's complained about the very cheap bat we own (he's right it's terrible). This -12 seems like a good fit to get his confidence up. What size would you recommend? Having trouble deciding between 28/16 or 29/17. Any other low sting / easy swing models in this price range? Jim
This DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA (WTDXUML) would be a good option if you are looking to reduce the vibration on mishits due to the two-piece design. As for size, we would probably suggest a 29" for his height and weight, though personal preference certainly plays a part in that as well. This is the only bat we have available in a two-piece design for a -12 size.
Kyle J.
My son is 51 inches and 60lbs. Would you recommend the 28inch or 27inch? Brian
With your son's specifications, we would recommend purchasing the 28" DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML.
Dani
Is this bat 2 5/8"? Frank
No, the DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML has a 2 3/8" barrel diameter.
Tyler
Am I allowed to use the USA bat where we are required to have the BPF 1.115 stamp? Jason
You will be allowed to use a USA stamped bat such as the DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML, but you will be at a disadvantage because the USA models will have less performance than USSSA certified bats with a BPF of 1.15.
Max
My son is very small and in machine pitch. This looks like the lightest bat I can find for him. I noticed in the reviews, someone said this 27"/15 oz actually weighs 18 oz. Is this true for all of these bats, or was that an anomoly? If it does really weigh 18 oz., can you recommend a 27"/15 oz bat that actually weighs close to 15 oz.? Forrest
It is certainly an anomaly that it would weigh 18 oz, however every bat on the market will most likely weigh slightly more than the listed amount. Generally this is only 1-1.5 oz max. This is because the paint, glue for the end cap and adhesive for the bat grip is not taken into account for the final weight of the bat. This is probably the best option for a light bat for USA play.
Kyle
Thank you for answering my previous question. It was very helpful. I have one more. Is this the best possible 15 oz USA bat for machine pitch regardless of price? Several of his teammates have the Rawlings Quatro Pro -12 ($349). I love the pop in that bat, but the lightest it comes is 17 oz. My son is only 43 lbs & 43 inches. So that is too heavy. Forrest
Unfortunately there are not many options when considering the smaller sizes, namely those in the -12 length-to-weight ratio category. With that being said, the DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML would be a great option to consider for a player needing a lighter swinging bat.
Cameron
Yes I noticed that one customer said the only con was he bought a 27 15 and when he received it the bat weighed in at 18 oz is this a common problem. My 6 yr old is swinging 16oz Rawlings I want to go to a 15 oz though he is 40 lbs . Just looking for a usa 15 oz bat for him Garry
Unfortunately, this is an industry standard across all brands and certifications. The true weight of a bat will come in .5 - 2 ounces higher than listed. The DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML comes in about 1.3 ounces heavy.
Daveron
I am looking for a new bat I was thinking a 28 inch. My son is 7 and is only 48 inches about 50 pounds, but is using a 27 inch bat and it seems a little short. I am just wondering if I should go with the Voodoo or the Sabotage? Bill
I think choosing a lighter options like the DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML would be a better choice since he is smaller. The -10 Voodoo may be too heavy.
Tori
I read a review that stated the 27" bat weights 28 oz, not 25. Is that accurate? Ryan
Yes, that is correct. The DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML comes in heavier than the listed weight.
Cameron
Is this considered a big barrel bat? My grandson is 4'4", weighs 61#, looking for a birthday gift, but need to confirm so it's legal in his league that not a big barrel. Daryl Perrine
No, the DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUML is a 2 3/8'' barrel which is not considered a big barrel (2 3/4'').

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
