Get your kids noticed Trey McGraw parent
Pros: I originally purchased this bat for my son to use in the cages. I felt he wasn't getting the recognition from the work he was putting in using his composite bat which has a muted sound. With this bat, everyone knows when my kid is taking BP and people are now noticing how hard and solid the ropes are to the top third of the net. This bat by far is the loudest on the market. Is your kid going to a tryout? Get this bat and you will be noticed. My boy actually fell so in love with this from his cage work though that he has taken it out to the field. Now the only sound more satisfying than the pop off this bat, is the sound of the visiting teams pickup trucks getting hit over the left field fence.
Cons: none so far
recommend to all Caleb Chavis coach
Pros: I bought this bat for my son and it is hot right out of the wrapper. And the sound by itself will get you noticed. If you are on the line dont think it its worth every penny.
Cons: which it was a different color other ta han white
VELO -10 UT8V34 Mark other
Pros: Bought this bat for my Grandson and his teammates. Great pop, ball seems to jump off this bat.
Cons: Only problem is getting the boys to switch from their old bats, but as soon as they do watch out.
Proud Fan James parent
Pros: Bought this UT8V34 (1 piece alloy) in 30/20 for my 11 yr old grandson to replace his UT8V12 (2 piece composite) in 30/18. It was time to move to a little heavier bat. Both are great balanced bats. The UT8V34 was hot right out of the box. Has a lot pop with lots of sound. The sound gets everyone's attention. Increased his confidence at the plate immediately. The ball jumps off the -10 bat and has more carry than the -12.
Cons: The one piece alloy does sting a little on miss hits but he said it doesn't intimidate his swing.
Ping! Good bat Ping Ping parent
Pros: Definitely the loudest ping on a bat at this age I've heard. Son loves it and his teammates love to use it. Seems good quality.
Cons: Probably true to weight maybe feels slightly heavy. Maybe.
great bat Scott parent
Pros: Probably the best bat for your money on the market right now.
Cons: none
Velo is a great bat! Freyman7 parent
Pros: Great pop! My son hits this bat a ton compared to the Marucci Hex Core he used during the season, the ball jumps off the bat. It also feels more balanced as well in comparison. The handle is very comfortable, but he can feel some vibration when he doesn’t make perfect contact on the sweet spot. $200 less than the last bat I purchased... can’t go wrong.
Cons: Smaller sweet spot than Marucci bats he’s used in the past.
great bat!! Lyn J parent
Pros: lots of pop right away, LOUD, good looking, great bat for advanced players at low price
Cons: nothing yet
Kid loves it so far Blake parent
Pros: 9 year old went from 28 inch drop 12, 2 1/4 barrel to this 29 drop 10 bat almost seamlessly. It took about 8 swings for him to get the feel and then was hitting balls harder and farther than ever. Nothing over the fence yet but hard liners to the fence and making contact on pretty much every ball that's hittable. Kids love the loud ping and feel of the bat. Only minor issue with vibration.
Cons: Kids not crazy about the way it looks. Great bat if it holds up.
Rawlings Velo Definitely at the Top! Mark Cisar Coach
Pros: Great balance and feel. Great pop. And at a great Price!
Cons: None
Confidence Matt Parent
Pros: My 11 year old is loving this bat! He plays 12u travel ball and being younger he was timid around the older boys; with this bat in his hands he is confident and stroking the ball.
Cons: none as of yet.
Nice Mark Fagenson Parent
Pros: Kid likes grip, balanced feel, and really loud sound.
Cons: None...yet. Has only used in practice. Maybe 200 hits.
Great buy Kevin Parent
Pros: Kid loves it. True to weight and length.
Cons: None at this time.
So far so good! George Myers Parent
Pros: great weight distribution so the bat swings really smooth. Great price as we needed a bat quickly and relatively cheaply so this bat more than came through for us. Not composite so it has pop right out of the box with no break in period required to start seeing performance. No sting in the hands which is a big deal to my son.
Cons: None so far.
Very good deal!! Jason Connolly Parent
Pros: Son says it feels great and has awesome pop. Likes it better then his cat7 he used last year. Highly recommend this bat and it's a great price. Son is 9 by the way.
Cons: If not hit right there can be some vibration, pros out way the cons though.
Dented after four games Troy M Guillory Parent
Pros: Hits well. Good pop.
Cons: Multiple dents after four games. These were fair weather games with new game balls. Never been used in cages. Always with real baseballs. Very disappointed.
Great Bat for the Price!! Chad Coach
Pros: Good barrel size, an sweet spot. Ball jumps off bat. No vibration on contact.
Cons: None so far
I dented the bat after one season Elijah Fernandez Player
Pros: Great pop nice sound and colors
Cons: I dented the bat after only one season of use and the bat came “deformed. “ It looked almost bent to one side. Also, the vibration is terrible. It feels like you are slapping ur hand on nails.
Fantastic bat Matt Parent
Pros: My 10 year old was using the two piece composite -12 Velo until it developed a crack after a season's use. He loved it but not supposed to use the composite in colder weather, or hitting heavies (from what I've researched) so replaced it with this -10 Alloy. Sound is loud - which is great feedback on hitting the ball square. Pop is great. He loves it. Very pleased.
Cons: Grip wore down on his -12 Velo after a season. Same will happen with this one, being that they use the same grip, and will need to replace.
Really hot bat Maddox Hallum Player
Pros: Smokes off the bat and feels really good to swing
Cons: Idk if this is just mine but after half a season a whole side of my bat is flat
Solid bat Cjt Coach
Pros: Excellent bat, weighted very well for my son, hitting line drives deep on most all hits.
Cons: None so far, wait and see if it holds up all season.
Great bat! Kim Parent
Pros: My son plays 11U AAA travel ball. He has hit 4 HomeRuns this season so far with this bat. So far zero dents . Highly recommend!
Cons: Zero
Rawlings 27” 17oz Kurt Sinclair Coach
Pros: Cheaper than Marrucci cat 8
Cons: Not as much pop as the Marrucci cat 8
Impressive Bat JP Parent
Pros: Has pop for sure! Just recently bought this bat for my 8yr old for his birthday. He went from a 26/16 Combat composite to a 27/17 Velo. 1st time using the bat in a tournament this past weekend. The ball flys off the bat, hit his 1st HR over the fence!
Cons: None so far

I'm looking at this bat or the new CAT 7 -10. What are the main differences and which bat would you recommend for contact hitter? Joe
Beside the color/paint scheme, are there any differences between this year's 2018 Velo -10 and the previous year's 2017 Velo -10? My son is 10 and playing 10U travel ball. He is currently using a 2 1/4" Easton S600C 30/18 and it's been good for him but I'm looking to upgrade. He also uses an Easton S750C 30/20 USABat for Little League but I feel like that is just bit too end-loaded for him. For travel ball I think I'd like him to try the Rawlings Velo 30/20 2 3/4", the Marucci Cat 7 30/20 2 3/4", or the Demarini 2017 Retooled CF Zen 30/20 2 3/4". He's 4' 7" and 75lbs. He's more of a contact hitter with occasional power to the warning track and fence. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Toedogg
Is this bat good for all weather conditions since it has a composite end cap? Jenko
Is this bat Little League approved? My grandson needs a USA approved bat for his All-Star Game. MaryBeth
My son is 11 and playing 12U travel (line drive hitter). Given the huge jump in price between this bat and the 2019 Cat 8 -10, what are the main differences in pop between the two? Daniel Herrera
About the Brand
Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.
The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.
In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.
In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.
The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.
Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
