Bomb after bomb after bomb Vincenzo player

Pros: Sounds great...swings great...the grip is comfortable...4 piece makes a huge difference compared to my 2016 DC41

Cons: Too many people on the team want to use it, I have to put it away after I hit my home runs...Purple is OK, not my favorite

Awful bat Jon player

Pros: This bat was absolute garbage. For a $300 piece of equipment, its durability is laughable. It was used for SIX at-bats and cracked. Went through the warranty return policy and got a new bat. The new bat broke in ONE at-bat

Cons: Everything. Terrible product

Great Stick Overall JK Player

Pros: Great pop once broken in. Approx. 200-300 cuts. Similar to the PT Max 2017 , just a bit longer conditioning time. I bought a 2nd, JiC tragedy ensues..

Cons: Massive Shark tooth crack down by the taper / barrel. It was used on primarily .44 core balls which is a no no, but its still functional. Will Probably snap like a bread stick around June. Definitely recommend it for .52 core

Best Bat I've Owned Richard From NJ Player

Pros: Excellent Pop and no break in time . Grip lasted 2 years before needing replacement. I've had my 34 x 28oz since 2019 July of 2019 and man I love this bat. We pound the hell out of some .44 cor balls and this thing is holding up great and still sends the ball flying. The fences are only 205 feet and the longest I've hit was about 280. I know it's discontinued now so I'll have to find something comparable once it does kick the bucket. If you have the opportunity to get one. GET ONE! I recently bought a Miken Ultra II MSU2M, which is supposed to be the best long distance bat and it pales in comparison to the Freak Maxload.

Cons: None

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MA? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I use an ASA Freak Platinum 34-28 end load. What difference should I expect with the Anniversary Freak? David
The 2017 Miken Freak Platinum Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: FKPTMA features the same unique four piece composite design as the 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MA. Both bats use the 100 Comp Formula and feature a half ounce end load. There will not be many noticeable differences between the two bats.
Carter
How long is the break in period? jwebb
For a fully composite bat like this 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MA we recommend that you hit between 150-200 balls with the bat, turning it about a quarter turn after every 10-15, before it is fully broken in.
Tyler
I hit the Miken Ultra II 34/30 in Senior Softball. How close is the Anniversary Freak to the Ultra II? Lee
The 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MA is going to be different than the in a number of ways. (1) This bat is lowering performing essentially since you are comparing an ASA model to a SSUSA model. (2) The Freak is a multi-piece bat meaning it offers more flex on contact compared to the one-piece Ultra 2. (3) Barrel length is longer on the Freak by a 1/2 inch. (4) Freak will feature a 1/2 ounce end-load while the Ultra 2 is balanced. (4) Freak will have a 12 month warranty from Miken from the date of purchase while the Ultra 2 features no warranty. The better comparable option would be the 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Balanced Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: M20BSS.
Cameron
What is the compression testing score for this bat and does that differ by weight? I would not think the weight would make a difference. Looking at the 30 oz. Ken
Unfortunately we do not know the compression testing score of the 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MA. This would be a better question to direct to Miken directly.
Cameron
How do you determine which oz bat is right for you? Harry Herman
You always want to swing the heaviest bat you can handle, while still having proper control and bat speed. Your own strength and swing efficiency are the main contributors towards determining the proper weight of your bat. Best is to just try and take some dry cuts with different weights to see how they feel.
Kyle J.
Do I need to break in this bat? Luis
The 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MA will benefit from a slight break-in period of 100-150 swings.
Cameron
Would it damage the bat if used with a .44 cor ball? Justin
The Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MF20MA) is built for a 300 compression softball. Since the .44 COR balls typically have a compression above 300, there will be a shot that this bat would be damaged easier if used with a .44 COR ball.
Ben
What is the BPF rating? Mike
The Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MA is a ASA model and thus does not have a BPF rating; this is something you would see with USSSA models.
Cameron
How will this bat do with a .40/275 ball? They are a rock when cold and mush when warm. Jason
The 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MA would perform pretty well in warm weather when the ball is softer. There aren't really any bats designed to perform well in colder weather, but this would be fine for that as well. You just would want to limit the use as much as possible when playing cold weather games.
Logan
how long should this bat last. I bought this bat brand new and I am the only one that uses it. I always have hit great with it but lately the bats doesn't pop like it used to. I own a lot of you bats and this has never happened before. Alisha
It will depend on how often you use it. If you ordered it through us please give us a call at 1-866-321-2287 and we can look into it for you.

About the Brand

During the past few years, serious softball players have looked to Miken Sports for bats that provide the highest levels of performance and durability. Our relentless focus on both technology and the demands of players has made Miken the most demanded line of softball bats today.

Although composites are the latest trend in softball bats, the technology has been the core of Miken's success since the company's inception. Miken pioneered the modern high-performance composite softball bat in 1998 and has pushed the limits with every model since. No other bat company has driven innovation as hard, and the results are indisputable. Look around. If a player is serious about softball, they are most likely swinging a Miken bat.

The success of Miken Sports has been driven by two forces - innovation and a passion for delivering what players demand. The results are obvious. Players have decided that composites are the future for bats, and no one does composite like Miken.
