Description
After a brief one-year hiatus, the Louisville Slugger Select is back! New for the season, the Select 718 baseball bat is built for power. With the highest swing weight score in the Lineup (at 3.0), this model features a slightly end loaded feel that is recommended for heavy hitters swinging for the fences. A 100% composite handle combines with an aluminum barrel made up of the proven ST 7U1+ alloy for maximum power, long lasting durability, and superior pop on contact. These two features are combined with the improved TRU3 technology that helps practically eliminate sting in the hands on mishits while providing an unreal feeling during each at bat. Right out of the wrapper, you'll notice the championship level performance without having to administer any type of break in. Louisville Slugger has also applied their new Speed Ballistic End Cap for an increase in barrel length, better overall weight distribution, and more control through the hitting zone. As the cherry on top, a custom Lizard Skins baseball bat grip comes pre-wrapped to offer a sleek look and reduce negative vibration. Louisville Slugger: The Most Trusted Lineup In The Game!

Pros: Pop Endloaded Lizard Skin Zero break in
Cons: None. This will be my gamer.
Pros: i love the looks of this bat and also it swings like butter. feels good but is balanced for the fences.
Cons: i dont really like the wild design of the lizard skin its a litle too wild for my liking but i always love the feel of LS so ill switch it to something simpler once it wears out
Pros: I just bought this bat for my son who is a sophomore on varsity and his very first at bat with the 718 Select he smoked a ball to center field farther than he has all season! The pop was better than expected! So far he loves this bat! In his words "This bat Rakes"!
Cons: None
Pros: looks good
Cons: maybe we got a bad one but the ball does not jump off this bat very well. Cat 7 has tons more pop. Hit 4 late last year as soon as the Cats came out, struggle to hit to the fence with this one. Its just not worth it. We usually go demarini or Marucci, thought we would take a chance. dissapointed
Pros: Very light feel. Easy to get around quickly. Has great sound too.
Cons: wear gloves because of lizard skin wrap
Pros: Purchased for my son this year. A month into the season it is still a workhorse. About a 1/3 of the team uses the bat now at games. They are leaving some nice brand new bats in their bag (i am sure the parents are not happy). It says slightly end loaded, which is correct. It is a nice balance though ... my son is a contact hittet (mostly singles). He has been anle to drive the ball deeper into gaps so far this year and getting more doubles. Some of it is him getting better, but some is this bat. I honestly believe that. Even when he does not hit the ball squarely, their is enough of a sweet spot to still get pop off the bat.
Cons: Definitely cost, but i do not regret the purchase. We typically spend $200 or so for new bats and the extra $150-ish serms to be worth it so far.
Pros: good pop
Cons: Very poor durability and Very poor Customer Service from L.S. for a defective bat. Buyer Beware, my son's bat lasted about half of his high school season before developing a rattle.
Pros: I'm usually just a contact hitter but the first time i used this i hit a triple to the fence. It says end loaded but actually has a balanced, smooth swing. No vibration on mishits and great pop.
Cons: The lizard skin grip should be thicker. for a little better control and comfort.
Pros: Great bat
Cons: 0
Pros: Great swing feel. Bat has a great sound to it and little to no vibration on miss hits. For an aluminum bat it swings like composite.
Cons: The end cap cracked before the end of my high school season
Pros: handle is on the skinnier side with a big end loaded barrel which is what i love. bat absolutely smokes the ball and swings butter smooth
Cons: none
Pros: just got bat yesterday. hit 3 buckets of balls .. ball is jumping off the bat . getting about 30 feet more with bat . went to a 33 inch bat . had a 31 inch beast and 32 cf bat . its my second louie bat had a vertex in my cooperstown run. price was good and getting a big bang for the bat.
Cons: none
Pros: I purchased this bat for my 13 yr. old son. He has only begun using it but he loves it. He was able to hit with it right out of the wrapper. This is a big switch for him from a drop 10 to a drop 3. He said if feels lighter than his other drop 3 bat. I am giving it 5 stars on my initial rating but he has only had it for 3 weeks.
Cons: So far so good.
Pros: My son said it feels good during swing. He has also been impressed with the pop so far during practice
Cons: My son said it is a little end heavy
Pros: Big bat. Seems very durable
Cons: End loaded
Pros: It is so great for my kid
Cons: Helping him get better
Pros: •No Vibration •Great Pop
Cons: •Bat died before the season ended. Disappointed. •Something was very loose inside the barrel

About the Brand
In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.
After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.
The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.
The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
