Pros: What this bat offers that's different is the slight end load you can add that makes it feel a lot different from the other end loaded bats. It feels like the zcore speed but with more weight and that adds to the pop. You wouldn't think there is that much of a difference between a drop 3 and drop 2.5 but when your generating the same bat speed the drop 2.5 will drive it farther. I got the bat because I have two boys one year apart and thought I can save on cost having them use the same bat. I haven't swapped out the balanced weight yet they both love it. It has that great thin easton handle along with that durable easton grip that my sons have grown up to love. Has a huge sweet spot.

Cons: I heard the weights and blank plug are not legal in College. You don't want to lose the pouch that comes with the tool and weights. I have no idea how those weights are going to hold up. My sons have only used it for about 20 games now and it seems good but who knows i haven't touched the weights since I got the bat. A bit of brick dust, clay and moisture in the threads and it might cement that screw in there. Despite the cons this is a 5 star overall bat.

Pros: Seems to be a solid performing bat, bought for my son at the end of JV high school baseball. Multiple players tried it and had some solid hits. Babe Ruth is just starting for us, so will get to use a lot this summer

Cal Ripken and Little League have not yet released their rules in regard to the use of BBCOR bats in divisions below high school. We will have to wait and get official set of 2018 rules before we make a statement. However, I do know that this 2018 Easton Z-CORE Lock & Load BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17ZLL) would be legal for the high school divisions of those leagues.

I weigh between 130-140 pounds. I'm about 5'8-5'9 and am looking to buy an Easton bat for my league that is BBCOR certified. I am 14 years old, turning 15 in November. The bats I am considering to buy are the MAKO Beast 2017 BB17MK, this 2018 Z-Core Lock & Load BB17ZLL, the Z-Core Speed BB17SZ - with the black and blue colorway specifically - and also the Z Core Hybrid Model of 2017 with the black and neon yellow colorway specifically. Can someone please describe each of those 4 models (how they compare, how they are different, what kind of hitter is best designed for each bat, which is most durable) and what bat you would recommend for me to buy. I'm planning to buy one of these bats in a 31 inch but whoever answers this feels that I should get a inch higher or so, please put that in your response. BennyDaJet

Based on your height and weight, it would be best to get a 32 inch model. As for which bat to get, the 2018 Easton Z-CORE Lock & Load BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17ZLL, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK, the 2017 Easton Z-CORE Speed BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17ZS, or the 2017 Easton Z-CORE Hybrid BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17ZH, this will ultimately depend on whether you prefer composite, alloy, one-piece or two-piece and balanced or end loaded. All four bats are great options to consider with the only one being slightly end loaded (Z-CORE Hybrid). The MAKO and Z-CORE Hybrid are both two-piece constructed bats and are better equipped to reduce vibration from off centered hits than the other Z-CORE models. Ultimately comes down to personal preference but based on your age, as well as height and weight, it would be best to consider either the MAKO, Z-CORE Speed or the Z-CORE Lock & Load since these bats are all balanced. If you are concerned about your hands stinging from a missed hit then you will want to get the MAKO.

After doing some research, it appears that for NCAA play, this 2018 Easton Z-CORE Lock & Load BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17ZLL) can only be used if the removable weights are NOT in the bat when it is being used in a NCAA sanctioned game.

While the Ghost X is a two-piece fully composite with a balanced swing weight. Performance wise the two bats are equally good.

There is a new rule that will be in place in the 2020 season for collegiate play that outlaws bats with the primary colorway white. As long as your player is not playing in college the Easton Z-CORE Lock & Load BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17ZLL will be legal for play.

Whether or not to get the Easton Z-CORE Lock & Load BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17ZLL or the Marucci F5 BBCOR would come down to personal preference. Since I have not used either bat it would be impossible for me to give my opinion. Both bats are one-piece alloy models so there would not be much difference between the two, assuming one could not use the load and load feature on the Easton (cannot use this in college).
