Reviews
Average Ratings Based on 85 Customer Reviews
Pros: I was skeptical about this new USA bat standard. I thought they were charging us parents the same amount of money for a bat that didn't perform as well. My son wanted this Ghost X because it's most similar to his mako beast but I think it's better. The pop is great off this thing. He never complains about sting in his hands anymore either. 11/10.
Cons: None yet.
Pros: We all know that the bat will not be as hot as the USSSA ones...but this model is not that bad. If you hit it square...it will fly. Can't compare to the other models but I am happy with this bat... Will only get hotter as we use it more. Smooth and clean design as is the norm with Easton bats...
Cons: Loud ping when the ball is hit 29 inch comes in at about 19.5 ounces the price
Pros: havent fully broken the bat in yet but its feeling better. good pop, good fly. all the kids on my sons team want to use it.
Cons: few bad stingers with the start of break in. bat seems "softer" with more pop on every batting session
Pros: Nice looking color
Cons: Everything else. Our whole team tried it out. Hands were stung and balls went nowhere. We average 3 homers a game and the team managed to hit 1 out during the entire 3 hour practice. Not worth the money
Pros: Really solid feeling. Little to no sting. Ball seems to fly off bat ......but
Cons: A good 30-40 feet shorter than last years Beast. So 240 is now 200. MAKO Youth Ash Wood 2 1/4" bat goes further consistently. OK if I can expect break in, but Easton says no break in is necessary.
Pros: Obviously this is a new bat on the market and there are a lot of questions about the new USA bat standard. I broke down and bought a 30" drop 10 Ghost X and my son absoltelty loves it. He loves the feel of the composite bat and continues to say how he does not even feel the ball coming off the bat. The biggest diffence I see is not with the pop of the bat, but how many more balls he is hitting hard that he was just missing with the 2 1/4 barrell. With a composite 2 5/8" barrell, he is now putting balls in play that would have been fouled off with the smaller diameter bat. He feels like he is going to the plate with tennis raquet in his hands which has given him a ton of confidence. He picked an inside the park HR on his first hit by sending a ball to the gap that rolled to the fence. Balls that were singles are now extra base hits and he has tremendous confidence at the plate. Other kids on our team that also have Makos notice a different feel with the Ghost X.
Cons: The Ghost X will make a lot of money disappear, but it's worth it for our family and is a bat he can use for the next 2-3 years.
Pros: Bat is well constructed with a good balance.
Cons: I usually don't write reviews but feel compelled to with this product. I think the velocity restriction has gone too far. The average exit velocity is 5% to 7% slower after 500 swings than my son's previous 1.15 bat. In fact, we purchased a maple Louisville slugger wooden bat on sale for $19.99 at the time as this purchase. My son gets slightly more distance and better exit velocity off of the LS, which is a couple ounces heavier. I would not buy this bat again. I strongly believe my son gets an equal performance from a much cheaper wood bat. I am concerned that this restriction is going to drive players from youth organizations using the USA requirement. Finally, the bat does still vibrate quite a bit when the ball misses the sweet spot toward the end of the bat or below the barrell.
Pros: Feels light for -10. Bigger barrel. There is enough pop in this bat. I would not classify our game testing results as similar to wood. Some well struck balls from a couple players that used in a game. Probably a bit less than a broken in mako, but as a coach, hitting fungos I didn't notice a drastic difference from the 1.15. Which begs the question, WHY CHANGE TO A NEW STANDARD?!
Cons: Cost. Plenty of good bats still in circulation and these new ones don't seem all that different to us so far. Our organization is allowing both the old bats and the new bats, at least for 1 year until we see how this pans out. Let kids hit homeruns and if you are worried about safety, play 50/70 and move them back.
Pros: nice looking back, small sweet spot.
Cons: made too weak. my sons bat and a friend of ours both broke after 1 or 2 games. -10 and -8 both cracked toward the tip of bat.
Pros: This guy at practice brought a bunch of these bats to "demo" them and I like the "32 inch, 25 ounce". This bat had so much pop and right when I picked it up to try it out I knew this is going to be a great bat for. Thanks so much Easton for this new bat, great job on the bat.
Cons: nothing wrong
Pros: This bat is basically like hitting a slightly less stinging, light swing weight wood bat with a full size barrel.
Cons: $350 for a bat that doesn't hold a candle to the one your kid used last year. A good 30-50 feet shorter, and on par or less performance than my sons Marruci Cutch youth wood bat. The bat also is not as sting dampening as the old bats.
Pros: It is drop 10
Cons: Mot much else. No pop, a "tinny" terrible sound, and almost no feedback other than vibration, and fairly expensive for such sub par performance. My son got it early to see how the new little league bats would perform. After 3 months of use he has decided to either find a different bat, perhaps just go with aluminum alloy, or go to wood for little league.
Pros: Good swinging light bat. Well balanced.
Cons: My son is the 3 hitter in the lineup because he has power and excellent contact. Since buying this bat his production is lousy. We have actually in most cases had him go back and use his previous Demarini and he performs great. I understand pop will decrease but this is terrible. I am very surprised as we paid a lot of money for what we thought would be the best bat. I also feel this is kind of silly and will just detour more kids from playing regular little league type divisions as apposed to some type of travel or other division where these bats are not required.
Pros: We purchased this bat (32" -10) on Saturday (11/18) and I was terrified that it might be too big for my 8 yr old son... but I want him to grow into it so thats why we bought it bigger. Well we came home, set up his hitting net and tee... After his very first swing with it, I knew we had made a good call on the length and weight. He swung it like he had been swinging it forever already. He loved the feel of it... he loved the colors of it... he was so excited... so all I can say is that my son loves it so far.
Cons: None so far... might find some later but for now, very happy with it.
Pros: Good pop, well balanced, and nice sound. Put this bat in a good hitter's hands with sound mechanics and the ball jumps off the barrel. My son is a contact hitter with gap power (10 year old) and he is driving balls just as hard as his old Combat Maxum. The larger barrel makes up for any sweet spot issues. This is a really nice and well made bat! As with all eastons, feels about an ounce, ounce and a half heavier. Lots of ooohs and awwws when my son is taking batting practice and he's on the smaller side. This is a full 2 piece composite bat not an alloy hybrid and more balanced than end loaded like the makos.
Cons: Not a fan of Easton's grip but even so there is little to no sting. Parents/coaches complaining about this bat will find ALL NEW USA BATS have the same or similar issues on "homeruns." Unless your kid is used to hitting multiple homeruns every game, I wouldnt put 2 cents into the "no pop" argument people have complained about. The cost is high but is the bat evey hitter gravitates to wittiut a doubt.
Pros: looks good
Cons: very disappointed my son complains constantly about stinging in his hands, the bat preforms like a wooden bat.
Pros: SON DOESNT EVER CONPLAIN ABOUT IT STINGING.
Cons: NONE SO FAR
Pros: Bat looks good, swings balanced, not much else
Cons: The cost of course is a major con. Not sure why LL went to the USA bat standard because these bats are dead. At least 30 feet less per hit with this bat. Broken in, its not much better. I really didn't see many hits before the USA bat standard came out that worried me about players health, so this just seems like another moneymaker and power grab to me
Pros: I have used this bat very minimal ,but as I was hitting my bat really started to get broken in and was hitting better than ever! Although I do have the -11 and I honestly don't know what the different drops mean and all that so... if that helped!
Cons: I have none so far, I will let you know if I do while playing!
Pros: They look and feel good in the hands
Cons: Bought two of these bats for my 10 and 11 year old sons. Both play select ball and Little League so we have experience with multiple bats for both organizations (USSSA and LL)...both are excellent hitters for contact and power but these USA bats are not only bad for pop but the consistent sting is so bad they prefer to use a wood bat. My sons and every kid we have spoke with absolutely dislikes everything about these bats. This review is for the USA Bat technology itself, not so much for Easton. We've had great experience with the Makos so with all things considered we hope these Eastons hold up for the 2018 Little League season but we are not happy about the performance of them. This specific bat could use a better grip, we replaced both grips before initisl use. If you play Little League, "it is what it is"!
Pros: nice Sweet spot
Cons: vibration makes this a $350 decoration
Pros: Okay guys, I hesitated to put a review in after getting the bat. I didn't want to be critical with reviewing the 2018 Easton Ghost X bat because I know there is some breaking in time with composite bats. I don't think it would be fair to judge any composite bat the first few weeks of purchase and use. The 2018 Easton Ghost X (drop -10) is no different. Honestly, right out of the wrapper, my 8-year old son used it and immediately we both noticed the bat did not have any pop. After the first 400-500 hits, I noticed a little more pop and a little more distance. Now we've had it for over a month now and over 1,000 hits, I'm seeing more and more pop. The ball is finally popping off this bat! The rating IMO is not fair of this bat. Let me also be clear that my son hasn't used other USABats yet, but we are really noticing an improvement in the performance of this bat the more my son uses it. The barrel size is awesome! BTW, my son was using the 2015 Easton Orange Mako.
Cons: 1.20 bpf is the new standard.
Pros: Great carry on ball
Cons: Stung
Pros: weighted well
Cons: absolutely zero pop. square one up knock the cover off the ball snd it goes nowhere
Pros: Looks cool. Good Balance
Cons: It's not Easton's fault. They're required to make a bat to fit within the new USA Bat standard. DO NOT waste your money on this bat. My son could hit a ball further with a broom stick. If you used garbage bats before, then this will seem like a decent improvement; but still not worth the money. I agree with several of the other posts, it delivers about 50 ft less distance than the Easton Mako. I'll be shocked if my son matches last years offensive power production.
Pros: feels solid on squared up hitsBat feels good overall with the new usa bat standard there should be no advantage. from whatever bat you choose. The advantage will be made by the individual player. Not the equipment. get out there and find a bat you are comfortable with. and go with it. Its upto you now
Cons: not sure only had it out a few times. nice lioking bat
Pros: Nice looking.
Cons: ZERO pop. Granted, my son is used to swinging a Mako and- by design- this has less pop, but he hit the Mako 210/215 regularly... he hasn't put a ball past 175 yet with this bat. if your goal is to hit a lot of routine fly balls for outs, this is the bat for you.
Pros: My 11U boy really loved this bat at the start of training this season. It has a good sound when the ball is well hit and no vibration in the handle.
Cons: As a baseball club we have broke 3 of these bats with less than 500 cuts. All of our training has been done indoors with real baseballs. They have not been used in cold weather or with dimpled balls and still breaking. Easton will only provide 1 replacement bat. We decided to go with the Demarini Zen USA -10. My son loves it. It has just as much pop and no vibration. We have not had one break yet.
Pros: none so far
Cons: broke after just 3 weeks on a 75* night
Pros: My son has been hitting with this for about 6 weeks now. He is 11 yo, uses a 30 inch drop 10. He says he feels like he can't miss. Now, he is coming from the 3 and 1/4 barrel so that is probably why. Bat has better pop than we thought it was going to have due to the new standards. So far so good.
Cons: more exciting grip tape for a $350 bat
Pros: Balanced feel.
Cons: It's a dead bat with a small sweet spot. Not sure what is going on with the bat but it only hits fine with pop if you hit the dead center of a sweet spot. Maybe it needs more breaking in but hugely disappointed with it. Definitely not worth the price. Looking to get another bat then try to test the bat again over the summer when temperatures are warmer.
Pros: People think you spent a lot on a bat. I guess that's a pro?
Cons: Stings just about every one of the kids I have had hit it. When we were about to give up on it and had the whole team use it once to see if my son was just being a wuss. Every one of the kids hated the feel of it.
Pros: hits great
Cons: none
Pros: it feels good and has great pop its a good bat
Cons: ???????????????
Pros: Good balanced weight
Cons: Small sweet spot, if you miss hit at all it rattles top hand, no reward for barrel hits.. We've been apart of the easton family of bats ever since I played in college and this bat is trash. I payed full price and feel ripped off.. Do not buy.. I know the USA rule has tooled the bats down but this bat is the bottom of the barrel..
Pros: good looking. durable.
Cons: I coach 10 year old super league. Thought I was buying the top-of-the-line youth bat. After 3 batting practices with all 11 players. Every single one of them had very little pop, and had to use a different bat due to vibration and hands sting. Not one of my players will even touch the bat again. Ended up being a big waste.
Pros: this bat will produce base hits, thats all that matters in baseball. homeruns are nice, but contact and putting the ball in play is what counts. the DADS writing reviews about their son having power and getting less distance and so on, have no clue about true baseball, its not the bat, its your player, those dads play through their kids. its not the bat, its the batter. put the ball in play and make the defense work, name of the game. thats what makes a ball player. A bats a bat, a kid that makes contact and puts ball in play is a true ball player. distance means nothing, especially at this age.
Cons: none
Pros: Looks good in your hands, that's about it.
Cons: This bat is like a piece of cement cloaked in composite. I understand that the pop on the new USA bats were going to be substantially less but this is ridiculous. My son is not a slouch by any means, I mean he was hitting balls off the fence last year in coach pitch with an $80 Easton of which I don't even know the model. This year the same contact has yielded balls that barely leave the infield using a bat 4 1/2 times the price. Rip Off
Pros: that bat is durable. i used it all winter for fielding practice for break in. Easily hit 1000 balls. The balls can fly if you hit the ball correctly. But thats where it ends. The bigger bats are better we have a 31 -5 and its a completely different bat over the fence everytime with good contact and no sting.
Cons: The kids started using the bat in the spring and i think every kid has stood on second still shaking their hands. With the -10 they are all base hits. The bat is really end loaded so the balance is awful if you have trouble driving hands at the ball.
Pros: None
Cons: Worst bat for any kid. Spent the money and would not recommend. Played back in the day with the black magic. Can not compair. oh I know new rules. Been coaching for 25 years. Worst bat. Dislike bashing but want ro save money for all. Moved to beast. cheaper amd better. pardon grammer...
Pros: Better than most bats.
Cons: Breakage Issue - My 9yr old has swung this bat for about 60 days, 6 games - it now has a small crack, seems to have lost any pop.
Pros: The bat feels great in my sons hand,
Cons: The bat seems to lack a sweet spot, All the balls he hit with this bat barely made it out of the infield, The bat is always stinging his hands on contact, It seems to have been dead out of the box, He used it 2 times in 1 game and lacked a lot of pop, and the 2nd time he used it in a game the bat cracked, Now he had the Beast also and this bat is the better of the 2 , lots of pop good power hits and no stinging of the hands, But im very disappointed in the ghost, Not a good bat for the $349.95 price tag, Im a parent and a coach of the team
Pros: The bat does dampen any vibration but thats really the only pro.
Cons: Without any reliable reviews on the new USA bats we bought the bat because of our postive experience with Easton in the past. Realizing the USA bats won't be like the old USAAA bats early on I accepted the poor sound, feel, and pop was just part of the new standard. Then we finally were able to get out of the cages and hit outside. Solid hits that normally should be well into the outfield barley made it to second base. We then used some of the other kids less expensive alloy bats and had much better success. I couldn't be more disappointed that I spent over $600 for my two sons and had to go back and spend another few hundred dollars on "lessor" bats because of the Ghost poor performance. If you are looking at bats do not spend the extra money for this bat.
Pros: LOOKS COOL
Cons: NO POP, BAD VIBRATIONS JUST NOT THAT GREAT OF A BAT. WE HAVE THE FIRST VERSION FROM SEPTEMBER 1ST 2017
Pros: not much
Cons: sounds like an aluminum pipe when the ball hits it. My son has leanred to dislike this bat and he has moved to a wood bat. i think there are better USA bat options available. i would advise to stay away.
Pros: ? dont have one
Cons: The 30" (-10) just got decertified by USA baseball standards
Pros: Looks good.
Cons: Sting on almost every at bat. The sweet spot is extremely small. I ended up buying the Louisville slugger select 718 and was amazed by the difference in bats. Since he switched from the ghost to the LS he has been killing the ball and has yet to have his hands sting.
Pros: Cage hitting looked great wit this bat over the winter. Once we got out on a field, I'd watch my 11 year old make great contact with ball hitting it square. Instead of a line drive in the gap, it would come off the bat like a looping liner to shallow outfield. The USA bat standard is a ridiculous ploy to extract more $$$ out of parents and this bat is the poster child for this scam. My son plays AAU and thankfully they have not adopted USA bat standards. We quickly picked up an old 2014 30 inch -9 Easton Mako and now the ball is being driven to the fence over and over. Just found out this bat was de-certified and I can't wait to ship it back to Easton.
Cons: - zero pop at all
Pros: Stoked if other team using it! Serves everyone right for playing little league aka whiffle ball. You gotta be kidding me. How about moving to 50 70 with longer fences?
Cons: Zero pop. Terrible sound. Worst bat I have ever owned or bought. Beyond disappointed don't waste your time or money with this piece of garbage!
Pros: looks cool
Cons: (from kid) this bat has zero pop, stungs terribly. it really dose decrease your confidence when the bat feels terrible evrey time you make contact. it almost feels like all the weight is in the handle. i was a king at the plate last year and this year it is a miracle if i hit it deep into the outfeild. i would recomend the luisville select 718
Pros: The design mitigates vibration. The sweet spot is legit. The weight distribution creates momentum during the swing.
Cons: Black and yellow would have been a better color scheme. My nephew is a Steeler fan. Plus, black matches everything.
Pros: It looks good
Cons: This bat has zero pop and it vibrates bad. Three members of my team purchased this bat. All are frustrated with the vibration and lack of pop. I would think twice about purchasing this bat.
Pros: It seems to hold up ok. Very balanced. Made it thru 40 games with a few teammates using out randomly.
Cons: Didn't realize how dead this bat really was until we purchased a new different brand bat. This thing has been very dead from the start and recently has gotten worse. It was broken in properly, and maintained as recommended (with the exception of a couple teammates wanting to try it). It just has no pop, and for a multi piece composite bat it has plenty of sting. There are better options for less money. However I'm sure easton will fix the problems with this bat, and have better usa bats the second year.
Pros: feels good to swing, big barrel
Cons: no pop, expensive, heavy hits have no results
Pros: No sting, outstanding balance and feel.
Cons: Our team has gone through 3 bats in 3 months. One in a game, one during live BP, and another one in BP with a pitching machine with real baseballs at 43mph. I have witnessed just as good pop come off of a wood and aluminum 750c Easton as this one.
Pros: Bat looks great. Weight distribution is good. The bat feels good in your hand.
Cons: The bat simply has no pop. The sweet spot is extremely small and it is very unforgiving with regards to hand sting. We just finished our state all-star tournament and it cracked in two places and the barrel began to separate from the Connexion joint. Overall I was very unhappy with the bat especially for the price. My son quit swinging it due to its lack of performance.
Pros: None
Cons: When the ball hits the bat it sounds dead and the ball goes no where. When my 10 year old son uses this bat he can’t get the ball passed the pitcher but with his old bat he can hit the ball to the fence. Not at all worth the money!!!!
Pros: Extremely Balanced Bat, with awesome pop!!! My 12 y/o son absolutely love it, hit 6 bombs this past year with!!!
Cons: None right now
Pros: Great pop, easy to use, and great feel
Cons: There is either no viberation, or there is a ton. It goes 0-100. Also, after ~50 swings, there were a ton of blemishes and marks.
Pros: Has a good feel to it. Weight is distributed well, espically if you have a skinny ball player.
Cons: Pop seems weak, but I guess these USA bats are suppose to be like that?
Pros: Good Price
Cons: It's a USA Bat
Pros: Seems to be coming alive little by little. I know it won't have the pop as the other ghost x bats, but my 8yr old is one hoping the fence on a 200ft field fence.
Cons: None yet still breaking it in
Pros: Good pop for USA bat..
Cons: Vibration is more than expected, not bad, just not great..
Pros: Looks good.
Cons: Heavy. No pop at all. He hits the ball and it barely makes it to first base and he's 13
Pros: It’s a bat
Cons: The ball seams to die at contact
Pros: Don't have anything good to say about the bat.
Cons: We went through the process of breaking in the bat but it still sounds and hits like a dud. He hits the ball hard and it just doesn't go anywhere.
Pros: The bat has good pop and feels well balanced.
Cons: The vibration has been absolutely merciless with the bat. We’ve tried vibration dampeners, gloves and new grip. Nothing works. It feels as if you are hitting a telephone pole with rebar. I didn’t believe my son and have used the bat for pop up drills a few times. It doesn’t matter where contact is made - vibration just wont stop.
Pros: The sale price was so ridiculously low that I just had to buy it. I also told my friend who son is on my team. He ordered the same day I did and we both received the bats 3 days later. Both boys absolutely love the bat. The pop might not be there but still comes off the bat fast and har
Cons: As of now nothing. Let's see how it holds up for the season
Pros: Balance is perfect Feels good in your hands Large sweet spot
Cons: Stings your hands on mis hits Has good pop but not great
Pros: Pure hits
Cons: None
Pros: Can't speak to many
Cons: The bat is dead. I forced my son to use his "new bat" that I bought him. After this last game, I apologized for making him. Doesn't sound right when you make good contact. I told him to stick with it, thinking it may come to life. I paid about $15 a game for this useless bat
Pros: none
Cons: I expected the ball to fly off the bat. So far, not a lot of pop.
Pros: Not sure
Cons: Not what I expected. My son is a solid hitter but can’t hit past the bases with this bat. He hits twice as far with USA stamped bats from Wal-Mart. Other boys in his league swithed to this bat and i noticed their distance was cut in half aslo. COMPLETE WAIST OF MONEY!
Pros: good balance, great pop
Cons: none so far
Pros: Takes the sting out of hitting. Nice Pop. Good for grounders & getting that ball out to the fence. Comfy grip.
Cons: None really other than having to take the time to get the 200 soft toss hits in but that’s with any composite.
Pros: Good pop
Cons: Crack in barrel within 3 weeks. Sent back to Easton
Pros: None
Cons: We bought an Easton bat and it broke within the first 2 months. Used the warranty to get the bat replaced and they sent us this bat. Wow! A $300 bat replacement, we were excited. After a few month of use, we noticed the barrel was cracked on 2 sides. Who would have thought a bat that cost so much money would do that. That was the end of last season. Fast forward to the last warranty claim we were able to make on this bat and they send us the exact same Ghost. Ok, maybe it was defective the first time around. Nope! After 2 months of use, the barrel is cracked again. This is also after he was not able to use it in a tournament because it was on the illegal list! We bought him a second Easton bat, which he used when this one cracked and that dented on the first hit! Would NOT recommend!!
Pros: As soon as my son got this bat, his BA has rocketed. He went from a one piece aluminum competitor bat, of the same dimensions, to this two piece composite. He no longer has any vibration to deal with and he is hitting the ball harder and farther. Awesome bat.
Cons: A little worried about the paint/design chipping, but as long as the performance doesn’t suffer, that is immaterial.
Pros: it can last for a long time
Cons: it stings at first
Pros: A good bat for the$70 price... glad I waited 1yr to buy it.. seems to have decent pop and little vibration.
Cons: Would never pay $350 for it.
Pros: The ball flies off the bat. This bat has great pop right out of the package.
Cons: No cons yet!
Pros: Compared to other approved bats, this bat seems to have more pop and less vibration. My 10 year old loves to swing it.
Cons: None
Pros: It was great while it lasted. It lacked the pop of a usssa bat but it was good for a USA bat.
Cons: It died one season in. I took care of it and all but it still only lasted me a season. Now it sounds and hits like a dead bat
Pros: Feels good. Looks good.
Cons: No pop, no sweet spot, terrible vibration. Switched from this to a VooDoo and had a much better experience and results using USA bats. First time I’ve been let down by EAston.
Pros: pops good, 2 years still in good shape, vibration is good.
Cons: nothing
