Description

New for the season is the DeMarini CFX series! One of the best softball bats is back and better than ever. DeMarini is driven by innovation and strives to improve year after year. This series pushes the limits of technology to create the lightest swinging, highest performing fastpitch softball bat to date. The proven Paraflex composite material makes up each bat to deliver 22% better durability, precise weight distribution, and premium pop right out of the wrapper. A half and half, two-piece design dampens negative feedback in the hands during off-center hits while simultaneously increasing sweet spot performance for more ball flight than ever before. The latest and greatest feature that is exclusive to the CFX series is called the 3-Fusion system. This one-of-a-kind design includes the streamlined 3-Fusion handle along with the lightweight 3-Fusion end cap that optimizes weight for better overall control at the plate. With a sleek design, the 3-Fusion handle provides a dramatic reduction of sting in the hands and a noticeable difference in flex on contact that helps transfer energy into the barrel for maximum performance. DeMarini's RCK knob tops it off, and it is still anatomically designed to fit perfectly into any player's hand. DeMarini: Can't Stop!

This particular model, the DeMarini CFX Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFF), features a -9 length to weight ratio, a sweet spot that extends all the way down the barrel, and it is ideal for power hitters at the high school and collegiate level. CFX-9 Dan D. parent

Pros: My daughter has used a DeMarini end loaded bat for her last two bats, the CF8 Insane and the CF9 Insane (2017). Both of these bats had so much pop and we only replaced because she continued to grow taller. I was a little worried about the CFX-9 because of the weight. I decided to give it a try and my daughter loves it. The sweet spot is more to the inside. She alway has more confidence with a new bat but this bat had so much pop its amazing. So glad I got this bat.

Cons: Priced on the high side.

Pros: It is a DeMarini...my daughter and I swear by this brand. Incredible pop right out of the box.

Cons: Not this model..."balanced swing weight" advertised, but not so - so much heavier than the 1oz. from the drop -10. Feels much more like, end-loaded creating an unnatural pull off the ball in swinging - stay with the drop -10.

Pros: Durable. We have found the -9 last a lot longer than the -10.

Cons: Less pop than we hoped. The bat is not as hot out of the wrapper as our CF8 -9. Luckily the old one is still good for tournaments. We will try and break this one in and hope it get there.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFF? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How does the -9 model compare to the -10 endload version? Justin
If you were comparing similar length models of this 2018 DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFF) and the 2018 DeMarini CFX Insane -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFI), this bat will technically be the heavier bat (due to its -9 length-to-weight ratio). However, the CFX Insane will have extra weight displaced into the barrel of the bat which will allow some players to possibly use that bat and put a little extra force into the softball and hit it further. However, if a player is looking for "heavy" feeling bat, this CFX (-9) or the CFX Insane (-10) should suffice.

My daughter is a freshman in high school. She is 5'8" and weighs 170 pounds. What size would you recommend? joey p
Based on your player's height and weight, I would recommend the 2018 DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFF) in the 34"/25 oz. size.
Taylor
What's the biggest comparison for 32/22 bat from a -9 to a -11. Daughter is about 5"2 and 113lbs. I wouldn't say she has the best swing and is a little slow in her swing. Currently using a XENO -10 32/22. no clue
The difference in a -9 to a -11 will be two ounces in weight. For example, the 32 inch bat you discussed will weigh 23 ounces if you chose a -9. In comparison, the 32 inch bat with a -11 will weigh 21 ounces. In my opinion, I think the 2018 DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFF will be too heavy for your player. I would recommend the 2018 DeMarini CFX -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS if your player needs a lighter bat to help increase her bat speed.
Dan
My daughter's swing is not "that fast" she says, will she have a problem with this bat? She is going to be a freshman in high school and is 5'8'' and 160 lbs. She is a power hitter but prefers a lighter bat. If this is not the right choice could you recommend another bat please? JenniB
The 2018 DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFF is designed more for a power hitter but if your daughter prefers a lighter bat, and at her age that is not a bad thing, then we would recommend looking into the 2018 DeMarini CFX -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFP in a 33 inch model.
Cameron
Would this bat work for 14U? gil
The 2018 DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFF would work for 14U. It is approved for play in USSSA, ASA, NSA, ISA, & ISF.
Daveron
My daughter is a sophomore that is 4"9' and weighs 106 pounds, she is small but has a very fast and powerful swing. What size bat would you recommend for her to use, lately she"s been using other bats and says that hers is too light, although the old bat is 19 ounces, and 31 inches. TeamTorres
I would recommend sticking with the length of 31'', but maybe switching to a -10 or 21 oz. The 2018 DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFF might be a bit heavy because of the big change in weight. I would take a look at the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFP19 in a 31''.
Max
My daughter is 5’8" and weighs 135. She has a DeMarini now although it may be a little too long and too heavy, 34’ -10. What would you recommend? maky26
Per your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2018 DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFF in a 33 inch model.
Cameron
My daughter is 5'4" 185, power hitter, short arms, struggles a little getting to outside balls without getting long. Swings a 32" -10 Xeno now. Interested in this bat. Size recommendations? Tez
With the size specifications you listed, we would suggest the 2018 DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFF in 33 inches. Depending on if you think she is done growing, you could consider going to the 34" option to allow for growth. She may just need to choke up for a season.
Daveron
Is this the Insane model? Is it end loaded? Glen
The DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFF will not be the Insane model, as the Insane will be end loaded. The DeMarini CFX -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFF will be a balanced model of the CFX.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
