Pros:  We hit soft toss with it today and it sounded good and seemed hot but every bat we soft toss with sounds/feels that way.

Cons:  Mine weighs in 3oz heavy and every single review I've seen shows this tank to be a drop 7 not a drop 10. Make sure your kid can handle the load. I doubt my kid can hit this bat against anybody throwing with some velocity. I weighed every bat we have today with most of them being off by less then an ounce then this stupid thing 30/20 tips the scale 23.2... Most the weight seems to be in the end. Its easily the most end loaded balanced bat I've ever seen. If it wasn't for the warranty return I certainly wouldn't own this thing.

Pros:  Still the best bat available. OMG they put a collar inside it! (and they thinned the barrel walls to compensate). This is not the banned Zen nor is it the retooled Zen. It's the best of both. Get 'em before they're gone...

Cons:  Haters gonna hate... My 29/19 tips the scales at 20.7 oz (that's precisely 1.7oz over the stated weight) so you could: weight it before you unwrap it and return it or exchange it for a shorter/lighter one (OMG my 11 year old can't swing a 29... (sarcastic)), choke up and inch, or make your kid bulk up over the winter...

Pros:  The bat looks great and feels very balanced, nothing like the retooled 2017 Zen. We have now hit 700+ balls with no issues. The ball flies off the bat, very comparable to the original 2017 Zen. My son says there is no vibration, even when hit off the end. No issues with excessive weight. We also bought the 2018 Voodoo and they both feel similar. Very happy with the purchase!

Cons:  My son was not crazy about the white grip so we put a red Lizard Skin on, really makes the bat look nice!

Pros:  Lots of pop right out of the box. My son needs a non end loaded bat with pop as he has a slower swing speed. He absolutely loves this bat, has given him the confidence I was hoping that it would. We compared it to last years CF ZEN and it definitely has a larger sweet spot when placed side by side. The ball jumps off this bat like no other bat he has used. It's better than a mako, cat 7, voodoo, combat, etc. We will see how it holds up, but I can tell you without a doubt he believes he can hit better with it. That's worth 350 to me, and can you really put a price on that?

Cons:  Price, but you get what you pay for.

Pros:  Playing fall ball in Ohio. Bought this on a whim because my boy busted his go-to Maxum. Holy crap this thing is HOT! He used to hit the gaps, now he hits the fence! 10 y/o, got the 29/19. Perfect! Get one before they're gone!

Cons:  Compared to the Maxum, heavier and less balanced... maybe that was the difference he needed though...

Pros:  My son "likes" the bat and swings it well. No complaints of vibration but it has been warm weather since he has been using it for 3 weeks. Colder weather may make a difference. I can't speak in terms of durability yet because nothing has broken. Overall this is not a 5 star bat due to weight difference and lack of pop in comparison to last years. If I wanted a -8 I would have ordered one.

Cons:  it is nearly 3 oz heavy, not nearly the pop of 2017's original Zen.

Pros:  Been usuing demarni a long time. Saved two vouchers from 2017 zen which we busted one of these as well. Got one retooled one end cap flew off, got a voodoo that didnt last a cple mths busted. So reused voucher for 2018?31/21 Zen BEWARE !!! busted less than two weeks. DONE w demarni. Almost all bats have been back ordered for awhile now an 900 in vouchers no bats on stock.....an you know when you use a voucher for less value you do not get the balance. Fuming with this company and the crap they been putting out. they say no refunds. Im done with it stay tunes when money gets returned.

Cons:  Junk we havent had a bat go past 2-3 months the past 2 years. No quality. 400 dollar bats come on. Just got the 2018 Zen 31-21 drop 10. had it less than 2 weeks did a little soft toss, finally got a open day to break it in a little at D-Bat. Busted 11 year old 98 lbs. 60mph. myself and all the trainers were floored!!!! brand new bat. which was good cause they also had some for demo

Pros:  After reviewing bats for days we bought the 29" 19oz for our 9 yr old son who wanted a bigger diameter barrel bat for his travel ball team. We are very happy with its durability and performance. It weighed in at 20 oz but not a big deal....he has no problems swinging it. He loves how it hits and so do all the other boys on his team. He has used it for about 20 games now and no issues with durability. Great sweet spot! We didnt have time to break it in before he used it but it was hot to start with and seems to be getting better every time he uses it. We are very pleased with this purchase!!

Cons:  All of the boys on his travel ball team want to use it but I guess it will just help break it in faster. lol

Pros:  Watching our 11U Travel Team use these bats, everyone is hitting farther and harder with these. By far the hottest bat out there right now. Durability is questionable, we have had one crack after a month, but the others are still going strong. Yes, they are heavier since Demarini put a sleeve/collar inside after last years recall to correct the durability issues last year and the recall. The sleeve/collar is about 1.5 to 2.0 ounces...so they will be that much heavier. Take that into account when ordering....If you can swing it you will like it. This bat has HR pop and hits it a mile.

Cons:  Durability is still in question as one we had cracked after a month of game use only. Weight is 1.5 to 2.0 ounces heavier that stated.

Pros:  Good pop, nice look.

Cons:  Not a drop 10. It weighs out to be a drop 8 so it's a little heavy. However, my kid hits it well. Cracked within less than 4 months of use and he doesn't allow other kids on the team to use it and he even uses another bat for cage practice. NOT ACCEPTABLE for a $350 bat to crack in such a short time. POOR QUALITY. Would not recommend.

Pros:  My son had the Mako Beast last year and hated the vibration of that bat. so much so, he developed a fear of hitting. Within one cage session with this bat he went from fearing, to trusting, to crushing. I had to drag him out of that cage! Great pop, great feel and most importantly, great fun!

Cons:  The price of this bat is absurd.

Pros:  Once Broken in, has good pop. Feels good once have adjusted to the weight. Getting around on ball just fine. If the swing is good, this is probably just an adjustment.

Cons:  The 31/21 is precisely 23oz, making it actually a minus 8. Our 31/20 Mako Beast was actually 21.3 oz for reference. Too early to tell about durability

Pros:  Has good pop for as long as it will last, which isn't long.

Cons:  Durability is pathetic. Bought this bat 3 months ago for a below average size 11 year old. Only hit baseballs in practices and games with it and the bat is already cracking. Absolute joke that a bat cost this much and doesn't last doing what it was intended to do which is hit baseballs. Done with DeMarinis

My son is 11 and is just under 5’3'' and weighs 94 lbs. Based on charts, he seems to be on the cusp of 31” or 32”. Which would you suggest? Also, are those two sizes for this bat now not allowed for travel ball/USSSA?

Based on his height and weight, I would recommend getting the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXCBZ in a 31''. They are both allowed in USSSA.

Is the 2019 better than the 2018?

Considering the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXCBZ-19 has not been out for too long it is tough to say if it is a higher performing bat than the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXCBZ, at this point in time. However, the 2019 model has implemented an X-Lite Knob to remove sting and improve overall comfort. This is the most noticeable difference among the listed specs of the bat.

Just heard that USSSA just announced that the 2 3/4" 2018 CF Zen CBZ-18 ( 31'' & 32" inch model) have been suspended from sanctioned play. What is Wilson/Demarini's response to address the issue? A lot of people purchased these bats specifically for USSSA play.

We were informed of this information late last night on 4/12. We are working to contact DeMarini/Wilson today to learn what they plan to do for customers who purchased their product. In the past they have offered a voucher or an upgrade to a new model if one of their bats gets banned for play, so that is the most likely scenario, but we do not have official details at this time.

How long does it take to break in this bat?

Like more composite bats on the market, the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXCBZ will require 150-200 hits before the barrel is full broken-in. I would also recommend that you turn the barrel about a quarter turn every 10-15 hits to make sure the entire barrel is ready to go.

What is the true weight of this bat?

Basically any bat out there is going to weigh slightly more than the listed weight due to the paint, glue for the end cap, and grip tape adhesive not being factored into the final weight. Most bats fall anywhere from .5-1.5 oz heavier than the listed amount, from our experience.

Here at JustBats we do not recommend using a bat in weather conditions colder than 55 degrees. Furthermore, we emphasize that with this 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXCBZ as the composite construction can be compromised in colder conditions by the more dense baseballs.

My kid is 5"7' and 145 lbs. He deciding between the 918 prime or the DeMarini CF Zen. Which is better for travel ball? Also, which size is best for him?

Both the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXCBZ and the Louisville Slugger Prime 918 will be very similar and balanced. Either would be a good choice. Based off of his height and weight, I would recommend getting a 32'' bat. Depending on his age, you may want to start moving him up in weight as well and maybe move to a -8 bat.

My son plays 11u this year. He is 5'3" and 125 pounds. What do you recommend for bat size? -10, -9 -8?

For an 11U player a -11 or -10 model would be best. Based on the player's current height and weight, getting the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXCBZ in a 31 inch model would be best.

Is this bat 2 5/8" in diameter? This is would be for Little League correct, even though it says Senior League?

This bat is listed as Senior League because is has the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp of certification and is made for kid pitch. Little League sanctioned leagues require the new USA Baseball stamp for 2018, which this bat would not comply to, and would be illegal for use in those leagues.

My son is playing 11U travel and I'm looking for a good high performance bat. Something that pops like a Mako or better, low vibration in the grip and good balance overall. Thinking about this bat but of course the price is a little scary since he hasn't had a chance to try one. Curious if this would be a good fit for an 11U player. Thanks

The 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXCBZ is a highly popular bat, and for good reason. It is a two-piece composite bat with premium pop off of the barrel. Also, the CF Zen is a balanced bat with a 3-fusion end cap built to optimize the weight and control of the bat. Considering you specifications, this would be a great fit!

I am considering the Mizuno Covert -10 in addition to this bat. What are the significant differences?

This 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTDXCBZ) has a two-piece, all-composite design. The 2018 Covert (-10) is a two-piece bat, but it has the composite handle and alloy barrel. Both bats will be balancedc in their feel. Overall, there is no inherent performance advantage to an alloy barrel bat or a composite barrel bat, it just comes down to the preferences of the player.

Can this bat be used in Babe Ruth 2018?

No the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTDXCBZ) is not Babe Ruth approved. You are going to want to look at USA approved bats. Maybe try something along the lines of the 2018 DeMarini Voodoo One -10 USA Baseball Bat (WTDXUO2).

I've read two questions on this bat about the 2017 vs 2018 models. One answer says they are the same just different color and one answer says they are different. What is difference in 2017 vs 2018?

The only marketable difference other than cosmetics between the '17 and '18 versions of the CF Zen's is the end cap on each bat. The 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTDXCBZ) offers a 3-fusion end cap to improve weight, control, and overall durability over the '17 version.

Does this bat weigh heavy as many people have stated? If so what are the manufacturers tolerances?

If you were to get this 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTDXCBZ) and were to put it on a scale, the weight will probably register 0.5 oz to 1.5 oz over the listed amount. Overall, I would say it is almost an industry standard that a bat will weigh 0.5 oz to 1.5 oz over the listed amount.

For use in USSSA, would you get the Easton Ghost X -10 (SL18GX10) or the DeMarini 2018 CF Zen -10 (WTDXCBZ)? Which one is more balanced and which one can generate more pop?

In regard to quality of reviews, both this 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTDXCBZ) and the Easton Ghost X (SL18GX10) have received decent remarks, but I would give the advantage to this CF Zen. In regard to balance, the bats will feel very similarly. In regard to performance, I might give a slight advantage to the CF Zen, as the customer reviews for that bat have been slightly above the reviews for the Ghost X.

The 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTDXCBZ is approved for Nations Baseball League. The only USA stamped CF Zen we currently hold is the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -13 USA Tee Ball Bat: WTDXUCT.

My son just turned 8. He is 4"4 and 75 lbs what size bat do you recommend?

It is suggested that he uses a 28" bat. The 2018 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTDXCBZ) could be a little heavy for your player. Its recommended that 8 year old use a drop 12 or drop 11. But if he can get the bat around and has a nice swing with a drop 10, this bat would be perfectly fine for your player.

What does -3 mean and -10 mean? What does 5, 9, 11, drop refer to?

The -3 refers to the length weight ratio. An example of a -3 is a bat that is 30" in length and 27 oz in weight. The -3 is another way of saying "drop 3". A drop 3 is a bat that is 30" in length and 27 oz in weight. For drop 5 (-5), drop 9 (-9), and drop 11 (-11) it is the same process as above. The drop refers to the difference between the length and width.

What is the difference between the 2017 CF Zen re-tooled and the 2018 CF Zen? Is it just the color of the bat?

Yes, the difference is in the cosmetics. They are both composite, -10, 2 3/4 diameter barrel, and have USSSA standards. The difference is in the end-cap, it provides better balance and better durability.
