The exemplary model has provided players and teams championship quality performance year in and year out and the design is no exception. Great Bat Julio player

Pros: Balanced swing weight, great grip, insane pop, hot out of the wrapper. I have swung the cat 6, demarini voodoo, and all of the Louisville slugger bats and I have to say that this is better than all of them.

Cons: None so far.

great bat Jacob Gwynne player

Pros: I have been swinging the 5150 for years, but the last few models I have been dissapointed with. This bat has not dissapointed. Its a generally balanced bat with great pop. Feels more like the old 5150 modles which I love. Great bat for a great price.

Cons: More top heavy than recent models, but like I said it's more like the old model and I love that

Pros: this bat is probably the best all around bat of the year I've swung Easton all my life but this year I've started started swinging Rawlings because i'm a freshmen in high school and i have to swing bbcor. I've always heard great things about rawlings bbcor bats but this model blew me away. it has insane pop and is extremely balanced great for the transition into high school swings like a -5. highly suggest this bat

5150 is back! I hit tanks player

Pros: Back to the "old" design without composite end cap. Love the feel of this bat. Slight end load helps with the power. The bat is balanced but has just a touch of end load. The grip is surprisingly good. BBCOR std makes all the bats the same so its just about how the bat feels to you. I hate 2 piece so this bat for me is perfect. This bat goes yard just as easily as the $400 bats.

Cons: Slightly thick grip/handle. I'm not a fan of flared handles but this one is small, especially compared to my Cat6. Its not really a con but this bat is LOUD. Inside the cages the ping is almost deafening.

Not great Jake Lewis player

Pros: Has a nice balanced feel to it and looks nice

Cons: Vibration is very bad for an aluminum bat compared to my LS 516 and pop isn't great. Heard people talk about the pop on this bat; just because it is loud doesn't mean the ball flies off faster. I am a high-school senior with an exit velocity of 90-92 of a tee. I really had to try to hit balls out with this bat. After around 3 weeks of hitting, I hit a ball of the end and the end cap separated a little from the barrel causing extreme vibration on every ball I hit. Returned it for another LS omaha. First Rawlings and now I know never to leave Louisville Slugger for Aluminum bats.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the difference between the 2016 and 2017 model? TonySoi
This 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) will differ from the 2016 model of the 5150 due to the differing cosmetics between the 2 bats and also due to this 2017 bat not having a composite-lite end cap on it (2016 bat featured the composite-lite-end cap to feature more balance on the bat).
Ben
Is this good for a 13 year old that is going to use BBCOR bats in the spring before gold glove tryouts? proway baseball
This 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) will feature a one-piece, alloy design and a very balanced swing weight. If you can find a length and weight option that will fit your needs, then I think there is a great shot that this could be an option of bat for you.
Ben
What is the difference between the 5150 and the VELO? beanieman23
The main difference between these two bats is the weight distribution; the VELO will be more balanced than the 5150. Due to the extended barrel of the VELO it will be more balanced and feature a larger sweet spot; the alloy used will be different as well (5150 uses 5150 aerospace grade alloy while the VELO incorporates AP alloy and a comp-lite composite end cap - another feature that adds to the balance of the bat).
Cameron
(1) Does this bat still have the loud ping sound? (2) Is this 2017 model any different from the 2015 model? Andillio
(1) This 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) is built with the traditional 5150 alloy that has been used on these bats since they were first made in 2011. That alloy has always produced a significant "ping" noise at contact. If you were to compare the "ping" of this 5150 to the "ping" of the VELO, the VELO may be louder; but I think you would be satisfied with the noise coming off of this 5150. (2) This BB75 model features the same alloy as the 2015 5150 (BB5150), but the big difference will be that a composite end-cap was present on the 2015 model and not on this 2017 model. As well the cosmetics were different between both bats.
Ben
Will this new 5150 feature a longer sweet spot than previous models? swrhoads34
The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 has improved pOp 2.0 technology and as a result it has a larger sweet spot compared to previous models.
Jason
I'm 5'8" and 165 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? tanky9
For your height and weight, we recommend a 32" bat length.
Angelique
Does Rawlings make an end-loaded bat? baseball dad
For their 2017 BBCOR release, Rawlings did not create a model that is featuring an end-loaded swing weight to it. Neither this 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) nor any other 2017 Rawlings BBCOR bat will feel end-loaded when swung.
Ben
Does this bat feel like the TRIO? august
This 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) will feature a one-piece, all-alloy design on it which creates a very stiff feel at contact with the baseball. However, the TRIO features a hybrid design (alloy barrel and composite handle) that will allow for a little more of a flex feel at contact with a ball. I would have to say that at contact, there will be different feels between this 5150 and the TRIO.
Ben
What size would you recommend for a 190 lbs 5'9" person? Is this a good bat for a power hitter? Decaf Coffey
Based on your height and weight we would recommend a 33"/30oz bat. The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) is a one piece bat which power hitters tend to prefer and would be recommended for a power hitter.
Carter
What size bat for a player that is 6'2" and 169 lbs? Drake
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 33" model in the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75?
Jason
Is there a better bat than this one? Big gun
Whether people like one bat over the other is a lot of personal preference. The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) is a highly liked bat and I would recommend it.
Carter
If I'm 6'0" and 140 lbs, what size would you recommend? matty ice
Based upon your height and weight, we would make a general recommendation of getting this 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) in the 33" length. As long as you can handle the 30 oz weight of the 33" length model, that size should be excellent for you.
Ben
My son is in 7th grade. He's 5'1" & 80 lbs soaking wet. He's been swinging a -3 Rawlings 5150 here recently. It's 30" 27 oz. It seems to be more end loaded than what he needs. Is the 2017 model more balanced or would you recommend the VELO for him? 5St8Fans
The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 will certainly feel more end-loaded compared to the Rawlings VELO. If looking for a more balanced option within the Rawlings lineup then we would recommend purchasing the VELO.
Cameron
Does this bat need to be broken in? Scott
Given that the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 is an alloy bat, it does not require a break-in to be game ready. Only bats with a composite barrel require a break-in.
Marcus
I'm 5'11" 160 pounds. What size would you recommend? ty
Based on your height and weight we would recommend a 32"/29oz 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75).
Carter
How is this bat compared to the 2016 version? Bomberbaseball
Sean
I am 5'6" and 130 pounds. Would a 32/29 be a good bat size for me? j
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 31" model in the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75. If you are comfortable with a little bigger size, then the 32" 29 oz model would certainly work for you.
Jason
I'm 5'10" and 170 lbs. What size bat would be best for me? Seth Young
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 33" model in the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75.
Jason
I am 5'11" and weigh 140 lbs. What 5150 bat do I need to swing? Caiden
Based on your height and weight we advise going with a 32" 29 oz 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75.
Sean
I am 6'1" and 195 lbs. I am currently using a size 33 inch bat and I was wondering if I should move up to a 34. The 33 does feel perfect to me as I am a power hitter; don't want the bat to be too long. Ty
We would recommend getting the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 in a 33 inch. It certainly sounds like you are more comfortable with a 33 inch model and it does not make sense to switch to a 34 inch unless you have intentions of backing off the plate.
Cameron
When did this bat come out? ayy boy
The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 was released in June of 2016.
Jason
I was wondering how this model of the bat will perform compared to the older versions of the 5150, in particular the white and red one from years back. I would also like to know how the feel of this bat is compared to the 2017 Cat 7. Billyc
This bat is still nearly identical to the red and white 5150 from several years back. Both are made of the same 5150 alloy, just some slight optimizations with the sweet spot technology, along with cosmetic differences. Both this bat and the Marucci Cat 7 will have very balanced swing weights.
Kyle J.
How is the 5150 better than the VELO? Rasamuffin4
Both 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 and the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7V are both great bats, the main difference between the two is that the Rawlings 5150 is going to have an Aerospace Grade 5150 Alloy and the VELO features an Acoustic Alloy and a Silver Comp Lite End Cap to give it a slightly more balanced feel.
Sean
First time at practice the green cap on the end of the bat partially broke. Do I need to send it back? Jhunt
If you need to make a warranty claim, you can do so by calling Rawlings. Their phone number is 1-877-225-1041.
Kyle J.
I am 5'8" and 150 lbs and I am deciding between this bat and the Z-CORE SPEED. Can you explain the differences and which bat you personally believe is better? raymondzaligar
Both the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 and the Z-CORE SPEED are one-piece alloy bats with balanced swing weights. These bats will be constructed from different alloy materials and the balanced swing weight feel will not feel the same from one player to the next more than likely. The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 might feel a little heavier to some and will have a more distinct sound on contact. Both are good bats to consider and based on your height and weight you would want to get either a 32 or 33 inch model.
Cameron
I am trying to decide which bat, I should get between this bat and the 2016 Rawlings VELO. Which one do you believe is better and why? Baseball5
The Velo will offer a more balanced feel, extended barrel and sweet spot, and greater alloy strength than the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75.
Logan
My son is 5' and 90 lbs. This is his first time using a -3 bat. What would you recommend? We are considering the Rawlings 5150, VELO and Louisville slugger 617. moe
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting a 29 inch BBCOR. All of the bats mentioned are great bats to consider as they are all one-piece alloy bats with balanced swing weights. The Rawlings VELO and the 2017 Louisville Slugger Solo 617 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBSO6173 will feature a more balanced swing weight feel when compared to the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75. Since you are needing a 29 inch BBCOR your best bet would be the 2017 Louisville Slugger Solo 617 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBSO6173 as this is one of 3 bats that are made in this smaller size.
Cameron
I'm 5'7" tall, 120 lbs. Would the 2016 5150 be a better choice than the 2017 5150 because it is more balanced? coop12
I think both bats would be excellent choices. They should be balanced nearly identically.
Kyle J.
I am 6'2" and I'm probably going to buy a 32"/29 oz size. Would you recommend a 33"/30 oz or bigger? nacho
If you are comfortable and performing well with a 32"/29 oz bat, you can certainly get this 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) in that size. However, if you feel like there is some performance you may be missing by using the smaller bat, I would recommend thinking about a 33"/30 oz size.
Ben
I am 5'11" and 155 lbs. What bat size do you recommend I purchase? Tanner
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 in a 32 inch model. If you feel that a 33 inch bat better suites you then we would certainly recommend that length as well; at 5'11" a 33 inch bat is certainly the better fit but it all comes down to your preference based on which size allows for better bat control.
Cameron
Is this bat balanced or end weighted? NXO
The Rawlings 5150 is a balanced model.
Kyle J.
What's the difference between the VELO and the 5150? bj
The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 and the 2017 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7V are both one-piece fully alloy bats with balanced swing weights. The VELO will feature a more balanced feeling based on the composite end cap (this improves the balance) and will have additional flex and pop.
Cameron
What does the alloy from the 5150 differ from the VELO alloy? bj
The alloy that is being used in the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 is an aerospace grade while the 2017 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7V will utilize an acoustic alloy. This acoustic alloy, in conjunction with the sliver comp lite end cap, give the VELO a more balanced swing weight feel to allow for faster swing speeds.
Cameron
I am 5'10 and 160 what size should i get a 32 or 33 inch? cory frazier

Logan
What size bat would you recommend for a 110 lbs, 5'3" person? Which one would you recommend between the VELO or the 5150? Will

Cameron
Does this bat have the new stamp for the little league and high school standards? Tom
The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 will be BBCOR certified which will be legal for high school, not little league.
Max
What's the difference between the 5150 and the VELO? jp
The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 and the VELO are both one-piece all alloy models with balanced swing weights. The main difference is the VELO will feature an end-cap which will give the bat a more balanced swing weight. As well, the VELO features acoustic alloy which will give the bat a more distinct sound compared to the aerospace 5150 alloy used on the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75.
Cameron
I am 5'11" and 210 lbs. What bat size would you recommend for me? Jack

Cameron
My son is 4 ft 3 and weighs 52 lbs. What size bat should he use? Ian Frazer
We would recommend a 28" or 29" length for his size. We would not recommend a BBCOR model as they are intended for high school age play and above, and will be rather heavy at a -3 drop.
Kyle J.
I am 6'3 175 pounds, is this a good bat for me? What length should I be swinging? parkman562
The 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB75 would be a great option for you. At your height and weight, I would suggest a 33" model.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
