Description

The leader in fastpitch is back and better than ever. Not only does it feature a new number but DeMarini has improved the most popular model in its class and continues to lead the pack with its advanced features. The DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is perfect for those left handed, speedy slap hitters. In comparison to the DXCFP -10 model, the Slapper features a lower MOI and an extended 14" barrel for maximum plate coverage and better barrel manipulation. In addition, it will also feature a unique grip tape orientation to maximize comfort and feel for lefty hitters and will decrease the chances of the grip bunching or ripping in comparison to the 'normal' orientation. However, don't believe for a second that you must only slap with the DECFA. When you don't want to slap, this bat acts as a lighter swinging -10 with enough mass and pop to give contact hitters an advantage when driving the ball into the gaps. Like all other CF9 models, the Slapper comes with the brand-new Paraflex Composite Barrel which offers 22% stronger carbon fibers compared to the Paradox+ Composite on last years model. This makes for less composite material needed allowing for the lightest swinging DeMarini bat ever! Additionally, it allows the composite material to lay more consistently creating a more responsive barrel, a massive sweet spot, and hot out of the wrapper performance. The D-Fusion 2.0 Handle Technology is back with a vengeance and still eliminates vibration on off-center hits while redirecting more energy into the barrel. With a two-piece composite design, a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter, and a -10 length to weight ratio, the DXCFA will be approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. The DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is also covered by a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. DeMarini: For the gamers! Get yours today with Free Shipping!

Excellent bat for a lefty Dr. Vince Petrelli parent

Pros: Great balance, broader barrel with a more forgiving sweet spot, more control at the hands for last minute adjustments to the pitch vs an end-loaded bat. Our 13 y.o. daughter loves it. Great for slapping, but has plenty of pop to let loose and drive the ball. Definitely an advantage with the grip wrapped left handed for better control. Highly recommended for lefties who are slap/contact hitters or are looking for high OBP.

Cons: None so far

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Do they make a 30" version? Based on my daughter's height/weight I am worried the 31" will be too much for her. Cindy
Unfortunately, the smallest size they make for the 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is a 31" model.
Jason
What is the difference between the CF8 Slapper bat and the CF9 Slapper bat? Greg
The main difference between the 2016 DeMarini CF8 -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (DXCFA) "Slapper" and the 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) is going to be the composite used. The CF9 Slapper uses Paraflex Composite Barrel which is 22% Stronger Carbon Fibers Compared to Paradox+ Composite that the CF8 Slapper uses.
Carter
Can a girl that is a power hitter achieve the same results using the CF9 Slapper as she would using the CF9 WTDXCFP? SBDaddio
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) is designed for slap hitters and if a girl was a power hitter we would recommend the 2017 DeMarini CF9 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFP).
Carter
Can a left-handed batter use this bat the same as the slapper? tt baseball
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) is designed for slap hitters, however, a non slapper hitter could use it as well. It is gripped for lefties.
Carter
Does this bat need to be broken in? if so how long? Coach Y
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is a composite bat, so we would suggest 150-200 swings off a tee or soft toss while rotating the barrel 1/4 turn between swings to give the bat a nice, even break in.
Logan
Hi are there any differences between the 16, 17 and 18 slapper bats? Are there other slapper bats recommended? My daughter is a left handed slapper and has the 16 model and loves it. Jesse
Each year the Slapper's gain some new technologies but have similar features. The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA would be very close to the 2016 a good fit for your daughter.
Max
Is this a one piece bat? Also what is a slapper bat? Can a right hander use this bat? jojo
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) is a two piece composite bat. The slapper means it is designed for left handed slap style hitters. A right hand hitter can us the bat, but it will cause damage to the grip tape.
Mick
Could you please tell me if these bats are ASA certified stamp (ASA 2000 or ASA 2004 for Fast Pitch) or the ISF certified stamp note that beginning in 2015 only the ISF 2005 'plate stamp'? Also do you ship to New Zealand. Lidi
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA will feature, and be approved for, the following stamps: ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. Unfortunately though we are only able to ship within the 50 US States.
Cameron
My daughter is 5'4", 118 lbs and she has the CF7 (32/22) bat now for hitting and slapping. She has been using this bat for 2 years now. Should I move her up to the CF9 (33/23)? She is a power hitter and pretty good at slapping. Tony
Whether or not to move your daughter up to the 33/23 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA will depend more on how you feel she is currently handling the 32/22 bat as well as if she has grown any since that purchase. We have a bat coach feature that allows a customer to enter a player's height and weight to determine proper length and we would recommend using this to see if a 33 would be advisable.
Cameron
Looking at this bat for my daughter. I need a 33"/23 oz (-10) size. Is this bat end-loaded? Jennifer
This 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) is not end-loaded. If you wanted a CF series fastpitch bat in the 33"/23 oz size with an end-load, I would recommend the 2018 DeMarini CFX Insane -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFI).
Ben
My daughter is a lefty and likes to slap but also likes to drive the ball. Is this a good combo bat? CHRIS INGRAM
Yes, you would be able to slap and drive the ball well with the 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA. The longer barrel will help with slap hitting but not hinder the ability to drive the ball.
Carter
I haven't found many reviews on this bat. I have however found many reviews on the DeMarini CF8-10 DXCFA "Slapper". How does this bat compare to the CF8 -10 DXCFA Slapper? Chris
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA features a Paraflex Composite barrel which is stronger than the Paradox Plus+ used on the DeMarini CF8 -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: DXCFA "Slapper." Other than this slight change, the bats are very similar with the 2017 model being mostly a continuation of the CF8.
Logan
Does this bat come in -13? Jess
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is only made in a -10 length to weight ratio.
Logan
Would this bat be a good one to use even though I'm not a slap hitter. I'm a power hitter so I wouldn't know if this is the bat to choose. High School softball
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is grip tape oriented to maximize feel/comfort for lefty hitters. If you are not a slap hitter, I would not recommend getting a slap specific bat. A better option for you might be the 2017 DeMarini CF9 Insane Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFI. The end-loaded swing weight is very beneficial to power hitters.
Dan
Is the 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat available in a 31'/21 oz? Lex
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper is made in a 31"/21 oz, but we are sold out of that size so it is not listed on our site.
Kyle J.
What is the ideal bat size for a girl that is 60 in tall and weighs 120 lbs? 10
Given those specifications, I would say that generally a 31" bat would the ideal size. Unfortunately, we do not have any 31" options available in this 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA.
Tyler
Is this bat USSSA certified? Pat
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is USSSA certified. It also features ASA, NSA, ISA, and ISF stamps.
Cameron
Comparison between 2017 and the 2018 Slapper bats? Dave
The big difference between this 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) and the 2018 Slapper is that the 2018 has a new 3-Fusion End Cap and a new 3-Fusion Handle Technology. Also, they updated the cosmetics on the 2018 bat.
Ben
My daughter is 10 Yrs, 4'10 and weighs 125 lbs. Is this bat too big for her? Gabrielle Sagala
Based on your player's height and weight, I would recommend getting this 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) in a 32"/22 oz size. As long as she can handle the 22 oz weight, I wouldn't say this bat is too large for her.
Ben
My daughter is 5'5 150lbs, swing 33 -10 now with no problems. Reviews state the CF9 Slapper is a lighter swing. Should I buy the 33 -10 or go 34? Morgan Vito
The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA will have the lightest swing weight to date and if your daughter is swinging the 33'' quickly through the zone I would recommend switching up a 34''.
Max
Can you use it in Ohio High School girls softball? Mike Cotsamire
The DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA will be legal for Ohio High School girls softball.
Max
I'm looking for a slap bat for my daughter who is almost 5' and only 80lbs? Dan
The DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA would be an excellent option for your player. I would probably recommend a 31" model, given her size.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
