Is there a big difference in swing in regard to balance with a 2 3/4 barrel compared to a 2 5/8 barrel? I know they are both -10 drop, but I am just curious about how much the barrel size will affect the swing speed and balance. Slider
The 2017 COMBAT VIGOR -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: VG2SL210 will be more evenly balanced than the 2 5/8" barrel and will weight almost exactly as the listed weight while the 2 5/8" will weight more by 0.5 ounce roughly.

The price difference that one might see with regards to the MAXUM and VIGOR is going to the barrel length. The COMBAT MAXUM will have a longer barrel making the bat more balanced with a larger sweet spot when compared to the VIGOR. One should gain slightly more pop with the MAXUM compared to the VIGOR.

That and the colors is the only difference. Both of these bats will stand up to 12U pitching.

I coach 8/9 year olds and 11/12 year olds. Are all bats currently being used going to be declared illegal? When will the new bats be available? What stamp or certification do I need? (I have bought a bat and glove from you guys - thanks for what you do). David
The new USABat standard goes into effect Jan 1, 2018, and will make all bats currently being made illegal for Little League. USSSA leagues and BBCOR leagues will not be affected. We are estimating that the new USABat certified bats will be released in August/September of this year.

I have a son who is 4.5 years old and playing baseball with 5/6 year olds. He is pretty athletic. Will this bat work for him? If not, what would be a good COMBAT bat for him? shelly
For most 5 year old players (I rounded his age to 5 years), we would recommend getting a bat in the 26" length. If you feel that your player can handle the 16 oz weight of the 26" option of this 2017 COMBAT VIGOR -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (VG2SL210), I would recommend this bat in that size. However, if you felt the 16 oz weight would be a little heavy, you could look to the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -12 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7MX112) with its 2 5/8" barrel diameter and 26"/14 oz size.
