Description

There's a reason Louisville Slugger remains the #1 bat in fastpitch softball. Their attention to detail and drive to surpass so-called limits have resulted in this year's newest and most-innovative design yet: the Louisville Slugger XENO PLUS Fastpitch Softball bat! Like many elite players have grown accustomed to seeing in other XENO models, the barrel features the S1iD Inner Disc Barrel Technology with a Zero Friction Double Wall Design. This technology actually allows the barrel to be tuned to exceed the legal ball exit speed ratio. The trick is that a governor is placed inside that allows the barrel to flex to its MAXIMUM allowable performance from SWING 1. The XENO PLUS is made from Louisville Slugger's innovative newest Performance PLUS Composite material. This composite blend is lighter and more durable than previous versions, and with the S1iD Technology, it needs ABSOLUTELY ZERO BREAK-IN! The XENO PLUS also features a new iST Connection for a solid bond between handle and barrel. iST provides players a bat with a slightly stiffer feel for more efficient energy transfer on contact and a HUGE sweetspot; all while absorbing vibrations from mis-hit balls before they reach the player's hands. With a tacky synthetic grip a 7/8 inch handle, the XENO PLUS WTLFPXN160 will provide players with absolute control and confidence at the plate. Louisville Slugger: Passion In Your Heart; Power In Your Hands! The XENO PLUS is approved by all major fastpitch softball organizations (ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and ISF). This bat comes with a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty against breakage. Free Shipping!

Xeno 2014 vs Xeno 2016 plus Steve coach

Pros: Pop- I dont think it comes out of the box with as much POP as our old 2014 Xeno, but hopefully it will get hotter with more hits. It also has a different sound than the 2013 & 2014 Xeno. General Feel - The bat has a good feel to it, also has a rough texture over the barrel of the bat (Not sure of exact purpose or benefit of this) Durabulity - Brand New cant answer this one.. Graphics- It is a sharp looking bat, still new not sure how they hold up..

Cons: Thought it might be a little hotter out of the box and does not have that 2013 & 2014 Xeno Sound.. Hopefully it will get hotter with more hits.. I am also comparing it to a broken in 2014 Xeno Bat.. We like Xeno bat this is our 3rd one..( 2013, 2014, 2016 models)

Cons: Half the team wants to use it

Limited Use Bat trewte parent

Pros: When functioning has good pop.

Cons: We have a 2016 Xeno Plus -11, we use to have a 2015 Xeno -11. The 2015 Xeno -11 was returned because the end cap started coming off after about 6-7 months of use. The replacement they sent and made sure that we understood this was our 1 Bat warranty replacement was a 2016 Xeno Plus -11. Well we have used it about 8 months and the 2 piece construction sounds like it has started coming apart. You can slap it in your hand and hear a tink sound and the bat end will move a little. She plays year round with High School and Select so she puts it to use. But as of present the bat can not handle the work load. Since I have used my one bat warranty I can not get a defective product replaced. So moral of the story, Rethink your purchase of a Xeno bat product if your daughter plays year round. They can not handle the work load.

Cons: Bat broke at the joint after hitting approximately 50-75 balls. The bat was replaced by Louisville Slugger promptly but missed 2 tournaments without the bat. We just received replacement a few days ago and have hit once with it. Good pop and we will use it this weekend in a tournament.

Great buy Dee parent

Pros: 1st time buyer of a Louisville Slugger Xeno bat, my daughter loves this bat. She had an excellent experience, nice pop to the bat, a few hits and a homerun playing Varsity. She made a comment that is light and easier to manage. Excellent choice for trying a different brand.

Cons: Too new to judge but I hope the paint coat maintains, I read some do chip off. I will keep my fingers crossed that it will not chip too soon.

Ongoing end cap problems Rich Carey parent

Pros: Good pop, minimal vibration, pretty colors

Cons: This 2016 bat was a warranty replacement for the black/purple 2014 model, which had the end cap separating from the barrel after eleven months of use. Yesterday, my daughter's bat was pulled prior to the start of a CIF playoff game yet again for a separating end cap, this time after only six months of use. With qualifier and tournament season approaching, we now have to find a bat that we can depend on to last.

Patrick
What is the difference between the XENO and LXT fastpitch bats? PW
The 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) and the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) fastpitch bats share many similarities, but the LXT PLUS offers an even lighter swing weight with its TRU3 Three-Piece Connection Technology that also eliminates more sting and vibration that may be created on off-center hits. Less vibration means more of that energy is transferred to the ball on contact for extreme performance.
Damon
Does this bat have extreme pop like the 2015 Xeno? cara
The 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) will have similar performance and feel to the 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN150) but will have a bit better dirability for more sustained performance and better barrel reinforcement.
Patrick
Does Xeno Plus 2016 need to be broken in before game usage? softballmom
Yes, the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) will need 150-200 swings, rotating at a 1/4 of an inch on each swing. We recommend these swings are off of a tee.
Frankie
Is this bat hot right out of the wrapper? cheryl
While the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) could benefit from a short break-in process, it it more game ready out of the wrapper than any of the previous model years of the bat.
Patrick
Is this bat good for a power hitter or is the LXT more for a power hitter? ashley
The stiffer flex of the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) would possibly make it a better model for a power hitter type player compared to the more flexible 2016 Louisville Slugger LXT Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX160) but both would be very nice options that would work for a power hitting player.
Patrick
Why do you all not have a 33 inch 22 ounce? cheryl
The 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) is a -10 length to weight ratio so a 33 inch size will weigh 23 ounces by design. The model you would want to look at for a 33 inch 22 ounce would be the -11 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN161).
Patrick
Does this bat come in a 33/24? Nell
The 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) is a drop 10. In order to get the 33" 24 oz, you would need to get the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN169) model.
Jason

Frankie

Based upon your height and weight, I would recommend a 32" model of this 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160). As long as you can handle the 22 oz weight of the 32" option of this bat, I would recommend that size.
Ben
I'm 5'7 and 150 lbs what bat should I use.Freshman in high school and I like to use the xeno bats bullet
Based on your height and weight, I would recommend that you swing a 33" length. That would be a 33" 23 oz. in this 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160.
Nick
My daughter is 11 year old, 5'3", and 105 pounds. I'm wondering about size and if this bat or the 2016 Easton MAKO -12 would be a better fit? maddy
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend using a 32" 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160. It is hard for me to recommend the weight of a bat that is right for your player as that will vary depending upon her personal preference, hitting style, and strength.

Would you recommend this bat over the blue and white Louisville Slugger TPS Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP13X? Bixby
Based on improvements made with the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160, as well as the customer reviews on this bat, we would recommend it over the previous version - the Louisville Slugger TPS Xeno Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP13X.

My daughter is 11 years old 5'1" and 105 lbs. Currently swings a 2015 Xeno 31/21. Was wonder if the 2016 Xeno Plus 32/22 would be a good size/weight for her now? Mike Mefford
Based on your daughter's height and weight, we would still recommend that she swing a 31" length. However, she is awfully close to the 31"/32" line. If her bat speed is really quick, then she should be able to move up to the 32" length with no problem.
Nick
Im 12 years old and weigh 95 pounds and I am 5ft 1 what size bat should I use for this bat? Marissa
Based on your height and weight, I would recommend that you swing a 31" length. That would be a 31" 21 oz. model in this particular model of the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160.
Nick
My daughter is 12 years old, 5'10" and 190 lbs. She currently has a 32/21. She did some BP with a 34/24 and came around on it OK, but I'm still concerned that's a big jump. I'd like for her to be able to use this next bat for more than a year. What would you recommend? PJA
Even though the 34"/24 oz model seems a little large right now, that is the size I would suggest for your player if you are considering this 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160). Based upon her height and weight, the 34"/24 oz option will give her the bat that has the best potential to last the longest (if 34"/24 oz scares you too much, then 33"/23 oz would be my other suggestion).
Ben
My daughter is 13 years old and currently swings a 32" 22 oz. 2014 XENO. She is 5'5" tall and weighs 175 lbs. She swings hard. What bat do you recommend? She is a huge fan of the bat she has right now. Bon
Based on her height and weight I would suggest a 33" or 34" bat and I would recommend sticking with the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) if that is what she is currently swinging.
Jake
My daughter plays high school softball and is 15 yrs old 5'2 120 lbs, what size bat would be best for her? She currently has a 31" -12 that seems too small for her. Rich
Based on your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend that your daughter swing a 32" length. That would be a 32" 22 oz. size in this particular model of the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160.
Nick
I have a 5', 115 lb power hitter. There are a few XENOs on here. What's the difference on them? laura
Based upon your player's height and weight, we would recommend getting an option of this 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) in the 31" length. I would recommend getting a 31" option of this bat as long as you feel the 21 oz weight will be good for your player as a power hitter (all the XENOs will be built the same with exception to the length-to-weight ratio offered on each model).
Ben

John P.
My daughter is 16, 5'6" and 130 lbs. She currently has the XENO Plus 31" -10. What size would you recommend now? She was looking at the 32". Cynthia
Based on her height and weight, I would suggest a 33" model in the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160.
Jason
My daughter is 9 years old, weighs 92 lbs and is 4'4". Would this be a good bat for her? jazzy
Based on your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160 in a 30 inch 20 ounce model. If you feel the drop 10 length-to-weight ratio is too much then it would be wise to look into a drop 11.
Cameron
Just bought the 2016 XENO Plus for my daughter and took a few hits yesterday and it seemed very hard with no "pop". Does it take time to break-in and also, what is the best approach for this? Static Dad
Although, it is not always necessary, some players that get this 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) note that a break-in was needed to get the bat to game-ready level. I would recommend dedicating a couple days to hitting in the cage and off the tee before taking it to a game and expecting to see the highest level of performance.
Ben
Do these bats have a tendency to break or crack over time? smitty
While any bat can break or crack at any time, the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160 is not more susceptible to it than any other bat.
Marcus
DAUGHTER PLAYS 11U TRAVEL. 2ND YEAR WEIGHS 74# AND IS 56" TALL. wHAT IS BEST SIZE BAT? Currently using 30" -12 drop Dale
The size that she is swinging now is what we would recommend based on her height and weight, a 30"/18oz bat.
Carter
Do these bats need to be broken in or are they ready to use? I've heard you need to break them in by hitting 1/2 speed and rotating but have also heard they are ready as soon as you pick it up. Nicole
The 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160 will still require a break in period of roughly 150-200 swings rotating the barrel roughly a 1/4" after each swing. A player can break this bat in during soft toss and tee work drills and they do not have to use a full swing to accomplish the break in (as far as not needing to go at game speed on each swing).
Cameron
My 11 year old daughter is 4'9" and weighs 90lbs. She currently has the 30/20 Xeno (2015 model). What would your recommend for her (i.e. length/weight and Xeno or LXT)? Scott
I would suggest the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160 in a 31" 21oz. size based on her height and weight and the fact that she is used to the feel of the XENO.
Logan
My daughter is 5'6" and about 130 lbs. What bat and size would you recommend for her? She has been a power hitter thus far and most go to the fence. Looking for that little extra to get them over. gaetheb7803
Based on your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN160 in a 33/23.
Cameron
My daughter is 4'8" and 70 lbs. She is a good hitter, but doesn't always have a lot of power. What are the differences between the XENO and LXT? Which would you recommend? Michele
I would recommend getting a fastpitch softball bat in the 30" length. This 2016 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN160) has been an excellent bat for a number of years. It will have your two-piece, all-composite design and a balanced swing weight. The LXT will feature the same material, but it also features an advanced connection point that allows for more barrel flex at contact and limits the vibration that gets to a player's hands on a miss-hit. If you want the model that technically has the most technology, I would suggest an LXT. However, the XENO can be bought for slightly less money and I think it has the potential to perform as well as the LXT.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
