Pros: Large sweet spot, comparable pop to Easton XL1, and DeMarini CF6/7. Combat has always been decent with their returns but I have had too many issues with their bats. My son owned a Combat B4 which cracked after 6 months. Combat replaced it with a new Combat Portent since they discontinued the B4. After 4 months the know came off the Portent. Since ithat was the replacement bat, we were done. Thought I would give Combat another try and am beyond frustrated at this point. All of our bats are kept indoors and never used on batting cage balls and these bats keep breaking within a year. If your gonna sell a bat for 400.00 it better last more then two weeks. Please read below.
Cons: Our travel team bought three of the Maxum Bats, two at drop 5 and one at drop 8 three weeks ago. After two weeks, the drop 8's end cap came out of the end of the bat-TWICE. Yes our player hit some off of the end of the bat but end caps shouldn't fly out of bats especially when you advertise a ground breaking design with a 500 day warranty. Not what you want after spending 400.00. My sons drop 5 also appears to be cracked after he got jammed and hit one towards the handle and he has had the bat for only two weeks also. So 21 days into the 500 day warranty and I am already on my one replacement replacement bat which of course will be stamped with "no warranty".
Pros: The sweet spot is huge!! I used to have a Easton Mako and I was looking for something that had a little bit of a bigger sweet spot and i found it. When the ball touches the bat it just jumps off like a trampoline.
Pros: great bat ! great for both power and contact hitters ... i have hit several balls over 310 feet and im only 5'5 120 lbs. this bat is great!! and also i recomend this website to many others because of great customer service and any questions you need to ask you can just ask and they will respond in a matter of minutes !!
Cons: My son who is 12 and plays travel ball broke this bat TWICE! And it almost hit the pitcher one of the times that it broke during our State Tourney. The first time I had to FIGHT to get a new bat and the second time I had to DOUBLE FIGHT to get a second bat. I wanted my money back but they wouldn't do it so I took the new bat and threw it in the garage. I also have 2 Mako's, LS, 3 - DeMarini bats and have had no issues. This Combat is way too expensive to be breaking...and the last new one I received has a sticker on it that says NO WARRANTY.....seriously????
Pros: My son plays 14U. This bat has a large sweet spot, swings balanced and fast, and has a lot of pop. The ball comes off of the bat like a trampoline. First swing out of the wrapper was a opposite field 320' double.
Cons: Unsure of durability. Have read that may be an issue, but so far so good.
Cons: We originally bought a 2014 Combat Portent (Which was the 1st Combat bat that we ever owned) it cracked after two months. I contacted Combat customer service, who was helpful, had me pay to ship the broken bat in. They in return ship me a brand new Combat Maxum, needless to say we were excited about this, brand new top of line bat and all...... Too bad it didn't last long. This bat was a dud! The bat had a rattle out of the box, no pop and it stung my sons hands so often and so bad that after a few weeks he refused to use it. Combat allowed me to ship this one back also even though it did have a "No Warranty" etched into the bat and then they sent me another Combat Maxum. After a couple hundred hits on the tee and softtoss my son used it in a game (not cold but 85 degrees) and the very first at bat it cracked, no joking it cracked again! My experience has been poor and I seldom write reviews but I felt obligated to share my experience with other customers.
Pros: all of the combat bats have AMAZING pop. 8 of the kids on my sons elite travel team have this bat. my son has cracked his bat 3 times, and two teamates over the past year and a half...but combat has had new bats shipped in less than a week. no one has had a priblem getting them to replace any bats, including the replacement bats. if you are interested in getting the best results...it is worth it!
Cons: crack a little easy, but the results are worth the effort that goes into returning
Pros: Great if you like a balanced bat. Big sweet spot.
Cons: Horrible durability. We have tried three Maxum vats and the longest they have last before going dead is about 7 weeks. 500 day warantee does matter if you can only get one trade in when it breaks (and it will).
Pros: Very good bat. Son his hitting well with it and loves it. Bat has very good pop.
Cons: Right now none. I have read some review which concerned me that the bat was not durable. However, we took the time to break the bat in and seems to be holding up fine right now. Other kids on team are using the bat.

Can this be used in Junior Little League play?
Asked by Mick
Unfortunately, this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL105) will not be allowed for use in the Junior Division of Little League Baseball. The reason it is not allowed for use is because this MAXUM features USSSA 1.15 BPF certification and composite barrel material. If a bat features the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification, the only way it can be allowed for use in the Junior Division of Little League is if the bat also features alloy barrel material (and a 2 5/8" barrel diameter).
How would this bat compare to the Easton MAKO?
Asked by jd
This 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL105) will come with an all-composite build and a pretty balanced swing weight like a regular MAKO model. However, it will feature a single-piece design that allows for a stiff feel at contact. The MAKOs are two-piece models and feature barrel flex at contact. The performance for this MAXUM has been pretty solid and the bat also features a 30 day trial period that would allow a customer to send the bat back to JustBats for a full refund or exchange if it was determined that it was not the bat for you within 30 days from the purchase date (that 30 day trial period is unique for the MAXUM models at JustBats).
Is this bat good for a power hitter?
Asked by rad
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL105 is a one-piece balanced bat, and it is a great option for any type of hitter. The balanced swing weight is more commonly used among contact hitters though.

What are the differences in the 2016 and the 2015 MAXUM 31/26?
Asked by Al
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL105) is in its first year of production so unfortunately there is not a 2015 model to compare it to.
Can you explain what is meant by the stated feature "Up to 17% Swing Weight Reduction on Average"? Does this mean that a 31 inch -5 feels like 21.58 ounces compared to 26 ounces?
Asked by Jeff
Swing weight is completely different from the actual weight of the bat. Swing weight is determined by balance, ease of swing which is called M.O.I (Moment of Inertia), flex of the bat. The actual weight of two different bats could be the exact same on a scale but the difficulty to swing them could be very different. The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL105) is very well balanced giving it a lighter swing weight than more end-loaded bats of the same size.
Is this bat 100% composite?
Asked by jack
Yes, the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL105 is a 100% composite bat.
Is the Combat G3 and the Combat Maxum going to so have similar performance? Because I loved the Combat G3?
Asked by joshbassball
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL105) and the 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat w/ Lizard Skin Grip (PG3SL105) will have similar peak performance levels but the MAXUM will have a bigger sweet spot and a more balanced feel.
How can the COMBAT G3 and COMBAT MAXUM be compared and contrasted?
Asked by cxbaseball
The barrel on the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League (MAXSL105) is going to be longer than the barrel offered on the COMBAT Portent G3. Both bats are going to be very well balanced and 100% composite.
Which bat is better: COMBAT Maxum -5 or the Easton XL1 -5?
Asked by AJ34
Which bat is better will come down to how you like your bat to feel. If you like a more balanced feel to your bat, then the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 (MAXSL105) would work better for you. However, if you prefer your bats to have an end loaded feel, then I'd go with the 2015 Easton XL1 -5.
Is the Maxum replacing the Portent?
Asked by Tom
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL105) would be the latest line of COMBAT bats with similar single-piece composite construction to the Portent line but it will have a larger barrel area and a more balanced feel. Description for 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL105
The team at COMBAT said that "something big" was in the works. But the bat that emerged has pushed through the boundaries of what was even considered possible with a composite bat design! Introducing: the new COMBAT MAXUM! COMBAT has made a name for themselves in the bat industry by consistently delivering bats that offer an extreme combination of a light swing weight and HUGE sweet spot, but the MAXUM takes the crown in both categories. This COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL105 provides hitters with an almost unfair sweet spot that is 20-40% larger than competitor models! Switching to the MAXSL105 will also result in an average of 17% Swing Weight Reduction! These bats are one-piece composite designs created through advanced Precision Molding Technology (PMT). Unlike typical composite bats that are created by rolling/overlapping layers of material, the PMT process injects liquid resin into seamless high-quality carbon sleeves under extreme pressure. The result is an ultra-consistent product that eliminates seams/weak points that you get with the traditional process. That means that players can rest-assured that the MAXUM will deliver perfectly tuned performance over a longer lifespan. The MAXSL105 carries the USSSA BPF 1.15 Performance Certification mark on its taper and is backed by a full twelve (12) month warranty. COMBAT: Measure Up to MAXUM! Free Shipping!
Justbats was quick to get my order processed and out for delivery. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking to buy a new bat.
