Description

Take your game to the next level with the new and improved Marucci bat lineup. One of the main differences from the CAT 7 is the new and improved AZ105 Alloy, the strongest aluminum on the Marucci bat line, allows for thinner barrel walls, a higher response rate and better durability. Additionally, the SDX EXT, or Extended Shock Dissipating Connection, increases the bat's overall stiffness for maintaining energy transfer to the ball while diminishing unwanted vibration to the player's hands. Another upgrade for the lineup is the 2nd Generation AV2 Anti-Vibration Knob that features a harmonic dampening system for better feel and less negative vibrational feedback. Marucci Sports: Honor the Game.

This Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR baseball bat features a -3 length to weight ratio and 2 5/8 inch ring-free barrel construction important for increased barrel flex and reducing the likelihood of dead spots, so every ball you hit can travel high and far. The barrel is also precision-balanced for a lower M.O.I, resulting in a lighter feel as you swing and giving you better precision and control. Its one-piece alloy construction provides a clean, consistent swing, and the tapered handle with its soft-touch grip is topped with an ergonomic knob shape for more top-hand control and comfort while you're at the plate. This bat is BBCOR certified for high school and collegiate baseball play, and it comes with free shipping and a full one-year manufacturer's warranty. Incredible Caleb player

Pros: Marucci does it again! I had the Cat 7 Connect BBCOR all last season, and I loved it. I had to get the Cat 8 Connect and I was amazed that this bat is better than the last. Pop is there, the end-loaded feeling is there, and no vibrations. Great swinging two piece bat that's actually a little stiffer than the 7, which I love!

Cons: Graphics are so clean I don't want to get it dirty.

Excellent Bat! Justadad parent

Pros: My 13 y/o was swinging the DeMarini -5 which is a great bat, but needed to go to a BBCOR. I've been doing a ton of research on bats and we decided to go with this one. Bat came in on same day as a tourney. Pulled it out of the box and then went 3-4 with two smoking doubles. He said it does have a slight end weight, but nothing drammatic; plus he liked it. He absolutely loves the feel and the overall swing of this bat. He told me "this is one of the best bats I've ever had." Great pop! Now the rest of the team is starting to swing it as well (ugh).

Cons: Still has the loud ping, which is awesome during games but when inside the indoor batting cage it does get loud. Not really a bad thing because in a game its really cool!

Less sting Gary Weaver Parent

Pros: My 13 yo B Team player had been swinging his all aluminum Marucci bat a lot more this spring. He started complaining about his bottom wrist progressively hurting more each week. As a DC I took several films thinking it was a hammate frx. When that wasn't the case the next thought was the bat vibration irritating his growth plates. As soon as he started using the Cat8 connect his wrist felt better, and 2 weeks later its now pain free and were hitting about 250 plus balls a week.

Cons: I gave the bat 4 stars on durability cause we've only had it 2 weeks

Great Bat Stewart Nickel Player

Pros: I like how it feels good wherever I hit it. I never feel like I jam myself and it has a nice sound. The end loading keeps me focused on keeping my hands inside.

Cons: I don’t personally like the grip that comes with the bat-I should have ordered the Lizard Skin Grip.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Marucci CAT8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How does this bat compare to the "regular" CAT 8? Free_Willie
The two main differences between these bats will be their swing weight and overall construction. The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBCC8) will feature an end-loaded swing weight and has a two-piece, hybrid design (composite handle with an alloy barrel). The Marucci CAT 8 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC8) has a balanced swing weight and features a one-piece, all alloy construction.
Taylor
I see that the new CAT 8 comes in a solid design, 2 piece design (Connect)/and a composite design. Which is the best to purchase for a routine base hitter that swings a CAT 6 very well 31/28; high school/travel ball player 15 yr old 125 pounds. CL
If the player has been using the CAT 6 with success then it would be better to go with the Marucci CAT 8 BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBC8 as this is a more comparable bat compared to the Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8. The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 will feature a more end-loaded design which will give this bat a different feel than the CAT 6 he has been using.
Cameron
Can he use the CAT 8 Connect when it's cold outside with the composite handle and all? Hayden
The CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 can be used in colder temperatures even though it has a composite handle.
Cameron
Have there been any problems regarding the durability of the connection? Or if a player gets jammed would it damage the connection? Connor Ellis
There haven't been any issues to this point regarding the connection between the handle and barrel of the Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8. The Cat 7 Connect was a great, durable bat, so we have no reason to think the Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 would be different. Obviously, the bat is not designed to hit balls directly off the connection area, so multiple direct hits to the connection could be damaging.
Logan
All things being equal, between the CAT 8 and the Cat 8 Connect which will give the hitter more power/distance? joe
That is difficult to fully answer as it will be dependent on the type of hitter. The Marucci CAT 8 BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBC8 is a one piece alloy with a balance swing weight. This will benefit the more traditional power hitters. While still offering performance for contact hitters. The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 is a two piece hybrid which allows for more flex in the swing. This usually benefits the more traditional contact hitters. This will be slightly end loaded which can benefit power hitters as well.
Daveron
What is the difference between the Cat 8 BBCOR and Cat 8 Connect BBCOR? Dan Shear
The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 will be a two piece, hybrid model while the CAT 8 BBCOR will be a one piece alloy. The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 will also be end loaded, while the CAT 8 will be balanced.
Max
How have they improved the CAT 8 connect over the CAT 7 connect? My grandson has hit the CAT 7 and doesn’t know if he should to go to the CAT 8 this year. Any advice? Donald Davis
The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 has a new alloy barrel construction (AZ105 Alloy) that gives this bat slightly thinner barrel walls compared to the previous CAT 7 model. The thinner barrel walls should help improve the trampoline effect of the barrel on contact thus giving the bat an edge up performance wise. If your grandson's current CAT 7 Connect BBCOR bat is still good for game play then we would certainly recommend continuing to use that bat but if need of a replacement then the new Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 would be a hard one to pass up.
Cameron
When will the 33'' 30 oz be available? Eron
The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 should be available at the end of this month, January, as we are waiting for Marucci to resupply us in stock in the 33'' 30 oz size.
Max
Purchasing for a 14 year old kid that is not a power hitter and is not a big kid (5’3”, 110 lbs). Recommendations on which bat would be more appropriate for him? Doug
I would avoid this Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBCC8) as it will be heavy towards the barrel. However, I would recommend looking to the regular CAT 8 BBCOR Bat (MCBC8) as it will be very balanced. Based on his height and weight, we would recommend a 30" BBCOR bat.
Ben
For a 13 yr old just starting to use BBCOR, would it be a good starting bat? Jack Roche
Yes, the Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 would be a great choice.
Tori
Difference between Marucci Cat 8 and Cat 8 Connect? Joseph Bartely
This Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBCC8) is a hybrid bat. It has an aluminum barrel, composite handle and also features an end-load. The regular Cat 8 is a one-piece, all-aluminum bat and features a balanced swing feel. The Cat 8 Connect might be marketed more to a power hitter. The regular Cat 8 could be used by any style of hitter that wants a balanced bat that is easy to control.
Ben
My son has been using a Cat 7 for about two years, but the bat isn't making the ping like before. I thought he was hitting farther last year. Does this bat lose it's pop? Kyle
Any bat can lose its performance with time and use. 2 full seasons of use is pretty good for bats being produced these days with performance being the emphasis and durability is secondary. If the bat is not performing like it was originally, I might recommend looking to make a new purchase of bat. If you were interested in getting a bat with a bit of an end-load, this Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBCC8) would be one to consider.
Ben
What is the break in period? Is it comparable to the DeMarini Zen? Cary
The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 does not have a break in period because it is an alloy barrel. It is a little different than the DeMarini CF Zen as that bat is fully composite. However, they are both balance, two-piece bats.
Tori
Is it returnable? Carl Britt
The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 can always be returned if unused. Unused bats can be sent back within 12 months of the purchase date.
Cameron
Which bat will feel most similar to an Easton MAKO bat? The Connect CAT 8 or the solid piece CAT 8? Not sure if the Easton was front weighted or not. jerry
The Easton MAKO BBCOR was a two-piece composite model with a balanced swing weight. Although neither the CAT 8 one-piece alloy or the Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 are ideal comparisons, we would recommend getting the CAT 8 Connect as this bat will feel most similar.
Cameron
Would it be ok for a 14 year old, 140 lbs, 5’10’’, just starting to use BBCOR to swing this bat? Rob
The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 is certainly a good bat to use and based on your height and weight, we would recommend a 32 inch bat.
Cameron
What size would you recommend to a 14 year old who is still growing, that is 5’9 160 lbs? Elijah Fernandez
Considering the player's height, weight and age, we would recommend getting the Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 in a 33 inch model.
Cameron
Is it easy to swing? Michael
We have not heard anything that would indicate the Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 is difficult to swing.
Cameron
Is this stamped for high school use? Does it meet color rules? Reading so many things. I have the Connect -5 now and we like it. Not sure if you can use two piece bats in high school. Jason
The Marucci CAT 8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 is approved for high school play but not eligible for college due to the white barrel. Any bat that is marked as "BBCOR" would be eligible for high school play, regardless of whether it is two-piece, like the Connect, or one-piece.
Cameron
My 17 year old is 5'9 weights 150 and bats left. He's a power hitter, what size bat is best for him? Sharon
I would recommend a 33'' bat!
Ryan
If I am 5’9” and 125 lbs., and almost 14, would you recommend 32” or 33” for BBCOR? Josiah
Per your height and weight, we would recommend the Marucci CAT8 Connect BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBCC8 at 31 inches.
