Bat Benefits

The most popular USA bat is back! Load up for a big swing with this Louisville Slugger Solo 619 USA baseball bat. The 1-piece hyper alloy construction maximizes energy transfer when you make contact with the ball for reliable swings and hits. Newly designed Speed Ballistic Composite end caps let you swing faster than the traditional Solo 619 for maximum contact with high-speed balls, and the extra length helps you increase collision efficiency to maximize ball speed on contact. Practice hitting all day long when you hold the LS Pro Comfort Grip that perfectly blends tack and cushion for batting practice. The 7/8-inch tapered handle provides a comfortable surface for youth players to practice their grip and learn how to hold the bat properly. Louisville Slugger: Others Make Bats, We Make History.

This Louisville Slugger Solo 619 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBSS19M13) features a drop 13 length to weight ratio, a 2 1/2-inch barrel diameter, and the USA Baseball Certification. Give any AABC, Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken, Dixie Youth, Little League or Pony pitcher a moment to pause when you approach the plate carrying the latest offering in the Solo series.

Fills a Hole in the USA Bat Space RH parent

Pros: We have a 7-year old who is 50" tall, weighing 57 pounds. So, he's relatively tall, but has a slight build. He currently plays coach/machine pitch in Little League. We really struggled last year finding a good bat for him. The 26" -13 (T-Ball) bats seemed a little short, but with the weight issues we all experienced last year, a 27" -12 was too heavy. With a 2 1/2" barrel, this bat seems to fit perfectly in the space that was created when we were forced to transition to the USA Bats. We purchased both a 27" and 28". He said the 27" feels better, and his swing looks better, so the 28" may be just a bit too long/heavy for him right now. He may grow into the 28", but when he does, we're not sure if we want to be in the -13 space so we'll probably end up returning the 28" and figure out what to do when he gets bigger. I think this would be a perfect bat for a younger/smaller child in coach pitch or even first year in LL Minors.

Cons: Way too early to tell about durability, and we only hit wiffle balls off a tee in the garage. The 27" has an almost cone shaped barrel, but again, it will probably do the job for the smaller kids who are ready to move on from a T-Ball bat. Hopefully this review is helpful, I will update it as we gather more information.

So far so good Yola Parent

Pros: These new USA Approved bats are consistently heavier than advertised. This is really an 18oz bat. I got the 30 inch for my 9 year old who is 4' 9" 80 lbs. He is currently playing 11u ball and this gives him the ability to get some real bat speed against the bigger kids.

Cons: Hoping that because it is so light, it may not be as durable.

Not to shabby Zach Taylor Coach

Pros: I’m a Coach for a 8u coach pitch team. We were supposed to switch to USA bat rule just like many other leagues, however last minute decision or enough parent and coach complaints cause the league to allow USSSA bats. I have now bought a 28/18 solo 618, 31/20 solo 619. Both bats are great bats, limited sting even on miss hits. We have 3 Marucci bats on the team. What we have found is the 619 if hit on the barrel will out perform a cat 7. Our discovery over hundreds of cuts in the cages, tees, live; in comparison to the 618, s450, s550, 518, 5150, ‘19 voodoo 1, cat 7 (x2) is that it has the better bat. I will list the bats we have in order from best to worst. 1. 619 2. Cat 7 3. Voodoo 1 4. 618 5. 5150 6. 518 7. S550 8. S450. All but the cat 7 are USA bats and each one has its pros and cons. However the 619 is a solid bat that is comfortable in our players hands. Shipping was super fast.

Cons: None at this point

Great speed swing Alex Parent

Pros: Initially tried demarini uprising and voodoo for 9yo... he prefers the solo swing 28 inch and swings it much faster, makes more contacts, no sting (with gloves) even on all but the obviously worst batting cage machine hits no sting. I thought a slightly heavier bat like the omaha or solo might yield longer hits but he still prefers this solo spd.

Cons: Cons? None i could think of. Price? Color? No lizard skin? Next year i’d like to compare this bat to the new CAT usa bat thats coming out.

Easy to swing SANDY Coach

Pros: lightest swing weight on 28" bat using golf fulcrum method gave son (7 yrs 52" 60 lbs) the fastest swing speeds durable hit everything from live bp to cages up to 50 mph no dents or cracks over 1,000's of swings even the kids on the team who use 2 1/4" barrels swung this better.

Cons: slow motion video you can actually see barrel recoil on impact (heavier swinging bats like demarini sabatoge didn't do that) higher swing speeds didn't lead to longer distances (only a few feet) definitely complained about hand sting

Good light bat! Brett Norton Parent

Pros: My 7 year old got the 28”. It’s a good light bat that he can easily swing. We wanted a bat that would let him have good form when he swung and not let the bat be so heavy it swung him. We hit a lot of BP also with it and it has held up.

Cons: Definitely not as much pop as his 28” drop 11 bat but what can you really expect from a 28” drop 13. It’s what I would expect from a bat that light.

Durable Lightweight Bat GS Parent

Pros: Excellent thin handle with no taper if that's your preference. Great balance. Very durable for such a light bat. I was initially concerned with durability issues given the weight of the bat. There are no dents after thousands of hits with batting cage balls, weighted contact balls, practice balls, and game balls. The primary signs of wear are ball marks and chipping of the neon yellow "LS" paint.

Cons: This is definitely more of a contact hitters bat. There isn't a great deal of pop.

Other than the barrel size, can you explain the difference between the drop 13 and drop 11 LS 619 Solo USA bats? Steven K
The differences between the Louisville Slugger Solo Speed 619 -13 USA Baseball Bat: (WTLUBSS19M13) and the Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: (WTLUBS619B11) are the -11 and -13 length to weight ratio difference and the -13 has a 2 1/2" barrel diameter while the -11 has a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Dani
Normally, all bats make a reference about the diameter but not the length of the diameter. How long is the 2 5/8 measure? Because for inside pitches could make a big difference. David
Unfortunately, LS does not indicate length of the barrel on the Louisville Slugger Solo Speed 619 -13 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBSS19M13.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
