Best USA bat Don Coach

Should Have Bought Sooner Jonathan Evans Parent

Pros: Hot out of the wrapper. Satisfying sound, even on miss hits, foul tips wont be missed. Good weight distribution. My 8yo son was crushing line drives on all pitches, high, low, inside and out. At one point he hit 10 in a row. Never done that before. Comfortable grip and absolutely no vibration complaints in the first hundred or so hits.

Cons: I waited too long to buy it.

One of the best USA bats Derrick Coach

Pros: My 11 year old has gone through a series of bats. The one that he liked the best prior to this bat was the Demarini Voodoo. The Prime definitely hits about 20 feet further on his home run balls and has a much larger sweet spot giving less mishits and just misses of barreling up. A little worried about an all composite bat in the Northwest cold, but so far in around 50 degree weather and about 1000 cuts outside still not a blemish.

Cons: Still not like the USSSA bats in pop. However, this bat is a split the difference in distance between his USA Voodoo and his USSSA bat,

Highly Recommend LS Prime 919 Coach Coach

Pros: Excellent bat which is well-balanced, nice sweet spot with great pop, and very little/no vibration issues. This was a major upgrade over the Rawlings Prodigy bat which my son outgrew.

1 of the best USA composites Mavererik Coach

Pros: 1 out of 10 rating Grip/Handle-6 Pop-7 Vibration-8 Weight-8 The durability is the most impressive aspect of this bat. I'm sure some have had ones that break and that happens but overall it's what stands out about this bat to me.

Cons: None. Most composites in USA after the break in process your lucky to get a full season out of the bat. The Prime 200 solid hacks to break in and now 2 seasons going on a 3rd it's still going strong and getting even hotter.

Pleased with purchase Jason Coach

Pros: 9 year old swings it well, crushes the ball. Ball exits off bat hard and fast. He switched to other bats and they sting his hands, no complaints with this bat. As a parent I'm pleased with the Justbats price and the performance of this bat. Son loves it.

Cons: He has approximately 250 hits on the bat and I found some kind of small coating chunk off the barrel about the size of a nail head. It's not effecting anything and who knows how it really happened, he's a 9 yr Old boy. I will keep an eye on it.

tons of pop low durability Orrin Trull Player

Pros: lots of pop beat cf zen usa bat. as far as feel on hits and mishits its amazing and when you hit a ball in the sweet spot it fly's off. compared to cf zen, Easton ghost x evolution and demarini sabotage i think it can hit farther and feels a lot stiffer.

Cons: after hitting for a few weeks there's several chips on the barrel and you can hear something rattling in the barrel. still performs well although I am concerned. the cf seems more durable. but if you like a stiff feel no vibration but want something more durable id go with the select 719 great bat only difference is the alloy barrel. looking back probably should have gotten it.

Pros: Tons of Pop for a USA bat. My 12 year old....who is big for his age. (5'10 165 lbs) has hit a few that we estimate to be 260 feet. Over the fence at 205, across a 2 lane road and off the top of a building. He has tried a few different USA bats but this was his favorite.

Would this bat be eligible for USSSA league as well? The new bat rules of proper stamping of a 1.15 BPF or USSSA? Steve
The Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 would be allowed in USSSA play. However, this bat's performance will meet a different standard than USSSA certified bats. We anticipate the USSSA version of this bat to be released the first of October by Louisville Slugger.
Daveron
How much heavier is the actual vs advertised weight on average for this bat, specifically for a 29"/19 oz? Brian W
Unfortunately I'm not really able to provide an average as we haven't gone and weighed hundreds of models for each USA bat out there. Most USA bats weight about .5-1.5 oz heavier than the listed weight. I did weigh a 30"/20 oz model that we have here in our customer service center, and it weighed in at 21.2 oz, or +1.2 oz heavier than listed.
Kyle J.
How does the Louisville 919 Prime USA compare to the DeMarini CF Zen USA in terms of pop? Ryan
At this time there is nothing concrete that would show significant performance comparisons between the Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 versus the DeMarini CF Zen USA model. Based on the design of all USA bats, with regards to barrel thickness and performance restrictions, we would venture to say that the "pop" of these two bats would be very similar.
Cameron
You have this bat in a USSSA? Rob
The Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 counterpart in a USSSA model is the Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP919X10.
Cameron
Is the 919 Prime end loaded? Cj
The Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 features a balanced swing weight. At this time LS is not making a USA -10 model with an end loaded design.
Cameron
My son is 8.5 years old, weighs 55 lbs, is 4'5". I am curious of the three Prime 919 models (-10 USSSA, -10 USA, and -12 USSSA) what would be the best bat for him and recommended size? Is there much of a difference in pop between the USSSA Model and the USA model? Jim
The correct bat will depend on if his league requires a USA or USSSA stmap. The Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 would be required by Little League and some others. If he can use a USSSA, I would recommend going with one of those since it will have a better performance. For his age, I would recommend going with the -10 USSSA.
Tori
What bat drop should I use? I’m 155 lbs and 5 foot three. Ben
If you are seeking the Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10, per your height and weight we would recommend a 32 inch.
Cameron

Is this a balanced bat or end loaded? My son will be playing 11U League ball this spring and he needs a light swing weight balanced bat. He is 4'2" and weight 65 pounds Grant
The Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA is considered a balanced bat.
Kyle
Trying to decide between the Prime 919, Select 719 or the Ghost X Evolution USA in a 29/19. My son is 9 and currently using a 29/18 Solo 618. I’m a bit confused as to whether or not the 718 is a end loaded bat or not. I don’t want it to be too heavy for him. What’s the difference in barrel size between these 3. I know they’re all 2 5/8 but looking for overall barrel size? I know it’s a tough question but which bat would you recommend of these 3? He is 4’6 and 75 pounds. Thanks Jay
All of these bats in the -10 size will be a balanced design and feel. In my opinion the Prime and Evolution will feel slightly more balanced however than the Select, but the select has an alloy barrel which is generally a bit more durable than the composite barrels of the Prime and Evolution. However, composite barrels generally allow the manufacturer to create a slightly larger sweet spot, so the Prime and Evolution have a slight edge there. The customer reviews are good on all 3 models, so I don't really think you can go wrong with any of the choices. I would lean towards the Select myself just due to the durability of alloy barrels, but if you want a slightly larger sweet spot, the Ghost or Prime would be the way to go.
Kyle
I am about to purchase this - just read a review that this bat broke within a few uses. What can my son expect from this bat? We use a DeMarini now but am open to change brand. Erik Yost
The Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 is an excellent USA bat to consider. Although not everyone will share a "positive" experience with the bat, overall it has been rated well in terms of performance and durability.
Cameron
My 12 yr old son is 5’3” and 95 lbs. What bat size do you recommend? Cathy
Based on the height and weight you listed, I would recommend a 31inch bat. This Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 is a great option!
Ryan
Is this a composite bat? Nick
Yes, the Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 is a two-piece composite bat.
Cameron
I was leaning toward this bat for my son but would like to know the difference between this bat and the Louisville Slugger Select 719 -10 USA baseball bat. Shawn Furtah
The Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 is a two-piece all composite bat with a balanced swing weight while the Select 719 is a two-piece hybrid bat (alloy barrel and composite handle) with a balanced swing weight. The Prime will feature a more balanced design overall while the Select is likely to be more durable; there would not be a discernable difference in performance between the two bats.
Cameron
What is the barrel diameter of the Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Bat, 30”? David Fox
All sizes of the Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 will feature a barrel diameter of 2 5/8".
Cameron
Son wants 29/19 Prime. Loves the Meta, isn’t a fan of the Zen. Need a USA bat for fall ball, how do feel about the USA Prime versus the CF Zen USA? Is the 919 hotter than the 2020 or doesn’t matter? Jeffrey Quasha
The Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 is very similar to the DeMarini CF Zen -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUFX19 and both bats were rated very highly by consumers. Nitpicking between the two, the LS Prime 919 has a longer lasting connection point design. As for comparing across model years, the changes are very minimal, with the main change being cosmetic.
Cameron
Temperature rating? We play on some chilly temps Amber
For any composite barreled bat like this Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 we would not recommend using them in temps 50 degrees and below.

My 10 yr old son is 4’8’’and 85 lbs. What bat size do you recommend? Matthew
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 at 29 inches.
Cameron
Comparing 30/20 Prime 919 to Select 719 USA my son is 10 5’ 115. Hits for power a lot of fly balls and line drives. He likes more end loaded feel. Which bat do you recommend? Patrick Cunneen
The Louisville Slugger Select will have the more end loaded feel.
Ryan
I just bought a Louisville Prime 919 31 -10, WLUBP919B10. This will be our first year in Cal Ripken U12 and I believe CR requires bats be marked with USSSA. Does this but have that stamp? Pat Hammell
The Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 does not feature the USSSA stamp but is a bat that can be used at the Cal Ripken level.
Cameron
Does this bat need to be broken in? Cecil McClellan
Since the Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBP919B10 features a composite barrel, we recommend about 50 swings either off of a tee or by soft toss with a rotation of the barrel after each swing.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
