My daughter loves this bat Dawn Riley Parent

Pros: This bat has been really good for my daughter’s swing.

Cons: My daughter says the grip is a little slick on the bat when she swings. I am going to put some wrap tape it and hopefully it will help my daughter.

Most Disappointing LXT to date Mark Struve Coach

Pros: LXT feel and look

Cons: -Not dead but little pop. - I tested hitting soft toss vs. my daughter's older, lighter, and cheaper AXE Element and there was no noticeable difference. After 3 daughters and waffling between LS and DeMarini I think we will go back to DeMarini.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger LXT -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX19A11? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I am a 14U fastpitch travel player and I need a new bat. I am more of a contact hitter and I was wondering if I should get the Louisville LXT or the DeMarini Zen. Do you have any recommendations? Olivia
Both the Louisville Slugger LXT -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX19A11 and the DeMarini CF Zen are going to be balanced bats and a a good choice for a contact hitter. I personally think the LXT is slightly more balanced.
Tori
Is the LXT made in China like the previous years? shane
The Louisville Slugger LXT -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX19A11 will be made in China

New LXT OR NEW XENO for 12U travel Fastpitch softball? Gary
Both the Louisville Slugger LXT -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX19A11 and the Xeno are great bats to consider. The LXT is better designed for your contact hitter while the Xeno is better served for the stronger players who can generate a more powerful swing.
Cameron
Does the new LXT have more pop than the new Xeno? Nick
It would be hard to say the new Louisville Slugger LXT -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX19A11 has more pop than the new Louisville Slugger XENO -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN19A11. Most players feel as though the LXT is lighter to swing and offers more barrel whip through the zone benefitting contact hitters, while the Xeno swings slightly heavier and remains more stiff through contact benefitting power hitters.

Hello My daughter is 11 years old and is 5’2" and 97 lbs. She is getting hitting lessons. I just bought her the 31”, -11 LXT. Do you think this is a good choice or should she get a Zen 32"/22 oz? Thank you. Brian Anderson
The Louisville Slugger LXT is an excellent model and has been one of our best selling and best reviewed models along with the Louisville Slugger Xeno and the DeMarini CF Zen. I don't think you can go wrong with either model, it just really depends on the size that you would prefer. Weight is rather hard for us to recommend because it mostly depends on the strength of the player and what they are most comfortable with.
Kyle J.
Is this bat ASA and USSA legal? Lisa
Yes, the Louisville Slugger LXT -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX19A11 is both ASA and USSSA approved.
Tyler
How long does this bat last (amount of hits)? JOSEPH
Unfortunately it would be hard to say how long the Louisville Slugger LXT -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX19A11 would last before breaking down.
Cameron
Do you recommend breaking it in? Nick
Yes, the Louisville Slugger LXT -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX19A11 is a composite bat, so we do recommend breaking it in. We recommend taking 150-220 swings either off a tee or soft toss, hitting at about 50% power and rotating the barrel 1/4'' with each swing.
Tori
My daughter is 9, 4’4” and 58lbs. She’s moving up to 10u this year so, to a real softball. She’s currently hitting a 28” 16oz aluminum bat. She swings it real well, but every hit hurts her hands. Looking to switch to a composite but unsure if I should move her up to a 29” or stay at 28”. Thoughts? Marci
If she has had success with the 28" and you think she won't outgrow it, then stick with that size. If you think she will outgrow a 28" and you want a bat for more than 1 season, you may want to consider a 29" length.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
