The 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GX10 is USSSA certified. The new Little League rules require the new USABat Standard, so this would not be legal. The barrel on this bat is 2 3/4".

Since the 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GX10 has not been fully released yet, there isn't any feedback on the bat. It will be similar to the Mako Beast from 2017 with improved feel and vibration reduction, and an overall top-of-the-line bat.

Based on your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting a bat in the 28" length. Your old S3 was a one-piece, all-alloy bat. This 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL18GX10) will be a two-piece, all-composite bat. If you have interest in a two-piece, all-composite bat; I would recommend this bat highly. If you felt more comfortable jumping to a 29"/19 oz size to give more room for growth for your player, that should be okay (even though it may be a bit large to start out).

At 10 years old, I would feel more comfortable suggesting this 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL18GX10) even though it will be more balanced feeling. Unfortunately, I just think the -8 Ghost X Bat will be much too heavy at 10 years old. I would only recommend a -8 bat if you felt especially certain he could handle that weight.

The Ghost X Hyperlite is a good choice for someone who struggles with bat speed and barrel control but this size of bat he will quickly outgrow. Based upon your sons height and weight I would recommend moving up to 32'' and a -8 or -5. Our sizing has him at a 32'' and if he is strong enough I would recommend a -5, but if he used to a -10 I would go with the -5. There are many advantages to having a two piece composite such as the Easton Ghost X -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GX10. The largest difference between a one piece and a two piece will be the flex feel at the point of contact that you receive with the two piece, as well as redistributes the vibration through the hands of the player. The one piece alloy's, such as the Omaha will have more vibration on miss hits and will have more of a loud ping sound than two piece composite. As far as durability and maintenance they will both be very similar, the biggest thing is the two piece composites will require a small break in period.

Our recommendation would be to use only certified standard baseballs with the Easton Ghost X -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GX10 and all bats. The weighted and/or dimple balls can cause damage to composite and alloy bats alike.

Both the Easton Ghost X -10 (SL18GX10) and the Marucci Cat 8 are excellent bats that have gotten great reviews from our customers, so you can't really go wrong with either selection. I personally prefer the Marucci Cat 8, simply because I prefer one-piece alloy models and the stiffer feel more than the more flex that a two-piece design like the Ghost X offers.
