Pros: Looking for a great bat thats hot out of the wrapper and you don't want to spend $400. you will not be disapointed. great bat to transition to full size field, end loaded, good grip, very little vibration. great pop of the bat.

Cons: none to date. with all the new bats we all need a season to play on them. only used in batting practice.

Pros: My son absolutely loves this bat. He said it has a great feel, as if you're not holding a heavy bat. He barely swung the bat and the ball hit the back fence (almost a homerun). It's not as heavy as we thought and very smooth swing for a power hitter like my son. We liked the price also.

Cons: The bat does have a bit of a sting, but nothing too crazy. My son used a two-piece bat before this one and says he does feel the sting more with this one-piece bat.

Pros: This bat has a ton of pop if your kid is on the more powerful side this is a great bat, and the price is amazing. I recently bought this bat fir my don and he hit a homerun with this bat in the first game of his tournament!!

Cons: it has a little but of vibration if you hit the ball of the end cap but overall great bat!!!

Great bat for the Price Richard Bortz, Father and Coach coach

Pros: This year's new standard put us in a quandary. We tried 2 other bats , but they just seemed to be less than expected. Low pop, small sweet spot, lots of vibration. And my son put dents and even bent on bat. So we tried the Beast. My son has used this bat for 3 weeks now in competition. It has more pop and he is really driving the ball. He is 12, stands 5'7", weighs 140, swings a 32 inch Drop 5. He has hit 4 over the fence in the last 6 games along with 3 doubles that traveled over 190 feet on the fly. His confidence with this bat has changed his whole attitude at the plate. The bat has a generous sweet spot and and is very forgiving.

Cons: A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for when it comes to a good quality bat that meets the new standards.

Pros: I waited to hear about the new bats before buying one. I heard this one outperformed many of the composite bats. It lived up to the hype! My son hit 6 balls over the fence...unfortunately 1 was in team practice, 4 were practicing with me, and 1 was a rocket in a game that was foul over LF. Aside from that, the weight helped the balls fly off the bat and he had a great season.

Cons: Occasionally had a little vibration, but the pros outweighed that.

The 2018 Easton Beast X -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BX5, much like the S300 that your son has been using previously, is a one-piece all alloy model. How this bat will stack up is hard to say. The 2018 Easton Beast X -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BX5 will be end-loaded whereas the S300 was a balanced bat. This could make the bat tougher to swing but that will really come down to the player and how comfortable they are with the weight distribution of an end-loaded bat.

Based off your player's height and weight, I would recommend the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BX5 or the 2018 Easton Beast X -8 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BX8 in a 31 inch length. Typically, I recommend a 7th grade player to swing a drop 8 and a 8th grade player to swing a drop 5. This will allow for a smooth transition into the BBCOR drop 3 bat weight at the high school level.

Generally, I would only recommend a 32" length for a 13 year old player (especially if a 33" size of bat has been used and it was a little large). The 32" size would probably be best if he can handle 27 oz weight.

This bat is a one-piece design, so it will have more sting than a two-piece composite design that some bats have. This bat compares very similarly to the Louisville Slugger 718 when it comes to pop and performance. The 718 does have a three-piece design however, so it will provide better vibration dampening.

I think both would be great options, and both are considered balanced bats. The Ghost X is a two-piece composite design that provides better vibration dampening and better flex and whip during the swing, while the Beast X is a one-piece alloy model that provides a bit more of a stiff swing feel and less vibration dampening, can but allow for a bit more power transfer to the ball because of that stiff swing. If one of those bats provides more of what you want out of a bat, then that's what I would go with.

Which bat is better: the USA Certified Easton Beast X -5 baseball bat or the USA Certified Easton S650 -5 baseball bat? The 2018 Easton Beast X -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BX5 is made with a higher quality alloy material to provide a more consistent and durable performance than the S650 models. The reason it may appear to have more defects is that the Beast X is a more popular model and therefore there have been more opportunities for possible defections. All in all though, the Beast X is going to be a higher quality model.
