Baseball Bat Care Tips

An often-asked customer question is “How long will this bat last me?”

While the answer varies from case to case, there are steps you can take to increase the life expectancy of your bat. The following list of tips will help you keep your bat in the best condition possible for the longest time possible:

• Although, the idea of a “team bat” sounds like a way to “keep the line moving” and the rally going, bats are best suited for individual use.
  
  
• Do not use in temperatures below 60 degrees fahrenheit. We understand that the Fall Classic is played in temperatures below 60 degrees and playing in these temperatures is inevitable. However, we just recommend limiting the use of your bat in those temperatures, as much as possible.

• Do not store in extremely hot or cold temperatures.

• Do not clean metal cleats with the bat. You will get better results using a metal grill brush to clean your metal cleats, rather than your baseball bat. (We recommend a wire grill brush with scraper and plastic handle.)

• Use leather covered baseball and softballs, NOT the rubber cage balls. These balls are more dense than a baseball or softball and substantially increase the chances of your bat becoming defective.

• Do not hit waterlogged baseballs (i.e. density of rubber cage balls in the above bullet point).

• Check your bat often for any potential damage (dents, cracks, etc.).

• To prevent one side of the bat from becoming worn down prematurely, try rotating your bat ¼ turn after each swing.
