Description
The next generation of Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRV3! The VELO has earned a reputation for being one of the lightest swinging BBCOR bats on the market, and the new version completely backs it up. Thanks to the VELO's Comp-Lite Composite End Cap, unnecessary weight is removed from the barrel of the bat, shifting the MOI towards the players hands. If the swing speed you generate with this bat doesn't turn heads at the park, the maximum pop and resonating "ping" created by the bat's stiff flex, fully alloy construction, and AP (Acoustic Performance) Technology surely will. Like many of you already know, some bats that focus on maximizing swing speed fall short in other performance categories. But not the VELO. Not only is this an extremely well-balanced design, but its barrel offers Precision-Optimized Performance (pOp 2.0) Technology for an extended barrel and sweet spot. Explosive swing speed and a massive barrel: a game-winning combination! This bat is BBCOR Certified for High School and Collegiate play, and it is backed by a full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Pros: light weight amazing pop great sound I had the mako and so far this bat seems to have way more pop off the barrel
Cons: vibration when hit off the end
Pros: Very well balanced. Weight is distributed very evenly. Ball flies off of the barrel and travels for great distance. The grip is awesome and best bat on the market.
Cons: none
Pros: As usual the new 2015 does not disappoint, great pop!
Cons: Just takes a minute to get use to the lighter feel
Pros: Just got my 2016 Velo, and i can already tell that im gonna love it. When you put this bat in your hands you feel like with every swing you'll be able to hit one over. Feels great in your hand, extremely light feeling, and amazing pop off the bat. Overall my favorite bat and i will get the 2017 Version.
Cons: none
Pros: Great pop out if the box . Well balanced bat . HR hitting as well as hard line drive pop. My son has always swung a velo . Says he will contuine to swing one as he transtions to BBCOR
Cons: no cons ....
Pros: EVERYTHING
Cons: NONE
Pros: Well balanced with lots of pop! The best on the market by far
Cons: No improvements needed
Pros: My son had immediate success with this bat. Very nice pop and the ball does travel further than his other bats he has used. His bat speed is also quicker.
Cons: none yet, except the price.
Pros: This bat feels like it is 5oz lighter then it is. Has great pop and I would well refer to it for first year bbcor bat users. Overall this bat is $300, but is worth every single penny!!!
Cons: Everyone wants to use it!!
Pros: The pop and feel this bat has when hit in the sweet spot (very big sweet spot) is like no other and is better than the MAKO.
Cons: A little sting off the end but it just encoraged me to hut the sweet spot even more.
Pros: this bat is amazing i used it for 3 games and i was just dropping bombs. it has a super loud ping g that does hurt your ears when hitting but i like it. a little bit of sting when hitting it to close down the barrel, just wear batting gloves. lay down some pine tar on the barrel and watch it fly, dont use in cages with those yeloow rubber fake balls. overall great bat. also has a grip similar to lizard skin works the same.
Cons: a little sting
Pros: crazy pop, cool graphics, super light, and i used for my first game and got 2 dingers this bat is amazing
Cons: i used to have the 2015 voodoo, and it had a very thin handle that i like but this bat has a thicker handle but it doesnt matter
Pros: Handle and grip are excellent, sweet spot is big, pop is phenomenal, weight is very evenly distributed, very loud ping sound at point of contact.
Cons: None
Pros: I made the switch from swinging two-piece Easton bats to swinging a Velo. The ball Flys off of the bat and the loud "ping" is extremely intimidating
Cons: None
Pros: My son loved the bat right out of the box. he said it had great feel, balance and pop. he had the demarini voodoo and his exit speed is higher with the velo. its a good bat. love the loud ping noise it makes coming off the bat.
Cons: none yet
Pros: Pulled it out of the shipping box and started hitting some batting practice....had a great feel to the bat, and even better POP!!!
Cons: Once the team saw the Velo in action and how the ball jumped off the bat, EVERYONE now wants to use it.
Pros: It is awesome
Cons: nothing
Pros: This bat launches balls miles and I know a lot about bats. I have played in the SEC and have to say this bat destroys pitches. Half size is good but 34 is the size you want for extreme mass to ball flight
Cons: color is off this year
Pros: - very nice feel - light weight (you can get your hands fast through the zone) - great pop - you get feedback from sound - takes 1 or 2 swings to get used to
Cons: - everyone wants to use it
Pros: -Bigger sweet spot compared to last year -Lightest bat on market(my 34" feels like a 32" it's amazing) -No break in time -Comfortable, thin grip -Tons of pop, ball flies(feels like old BESR bats)
Cons: -Vibration(not a big deal though) -Loses pop faster than composite bats in my opinion
Pros: solid
Cons: just doesnt have wow factor for $250-$300 bucks,, easton xl1/mako is better.
Pros: Great Balance Feels Solid at contact and you feel something behind the ball when you make contact
Cons: Nothing Yet, all feels great
Pros: Best bat I have ever had. Sweet spot is huge and not much vibration off the handle or end. Ball flies off barrell. Great bat!
Cons: None
Pros: Usually very pleased with Rawings products. EXCELLENT Balance solid pop.
Cons: It's too early to determine durability for this bat. We had a Raleigh Trio last season. A few months after the warranty expired, the bat went kurplunk and was worthless. HENCE, we shall see.
Pros: Nicely balanced , lets u get through the zone quicker and everyone will stop when they hear the awesome PING!!!
Cons: No cons
Pros: Solid feel and decent pop, so far
Cons: Will hold of on the durability issue until I have a full season out of it. Had a Rawlings Trio and it died a quick death just after warrantee expired. A great bat otherwise. Any bat should last a full high school season, post season, summer and then Fall before going flat
Pros: Balance is amazing. So much pop
Cons: cant find any cons
Pros: Amazing pop, so balanced, flies off the bat
Cons: When you hit off the composite end it rings a little bit
Pros: This bat has great pop from the first swing! Feels great in my hands and required little- no break in time. Best velo on the market
Cons: The paint chipps easily if you spike your bat, but that is just a cosmetic issue
Pros: This bat is an awesome bat. It well exceeded my expectations. It comes hot right of the box and is game ready. So far it has been the "Team Bat" and it wuld be a great purchase!! Great bat!!
Cons: noting
Pros: son likes it
Cons: bat cracked after about 10 practices and into 5th game. sending it back, Rawlings told me to be ready to wait around 3 weeks. will post back later and give update on replacement . i would not buy again if this is the case.
Pros: After using the Velo for three weeks, my 15U player likes it a lot. He prefers a balanced bat, and the balance of this Velo is as good as advertised. The bat has exceptional pop -- the extended barrel seems to make a positive difference. The grip is also outstanding.
Cons: The only con is the amount of feedback when he hits off the end of the barrel. The vibration can be painful. It's hard to avoid this with an aluminum bat, so I can't say this flaw is particular to the Velo.
Pros: Great weight balance. Great pop.
Cons: Rawlings "ping" is very loud indoors
Pros: Balanced and Good pop, Love this bat!!
Cons: None
Pros: Has great pop and is really balanced. You can hit the ball hard almost anywhere on the bat. I have always swung a VELO and I will continue to use this for awhile.
Cons: Stings your hands
Pros: This bat is well balanced & has great pop. My son is a singles & doubles hitter. This bat is perfect for a kid trying to bat for average. The ball gets through the infield in a hurry. My son is a sophomore & is not a power hitter yet. This bat is perfect for him, because it fits his body style. The bat has a huge sweet spot & therefore he hits the ball hard 95% of the time. This is our first Rawlings & we love the bat.
Cons: It has a thicker handle than most bats. It takes a while to get used too. I think that's why the bat is very balanced & not top heavy at all.
Pros: SON LIKES IT
Cons: CRACKED BAT, GOT REPLACEMENT 3-10-16, SENT BACK ON 2-29-16. DID NOT TAKE 3 WEEKS AS THEY SAID, HOPE REPLACEMENT LASTS LONGER THAT THE ORIGINAL, WILL POST LATER IN SEASON, IM A ? ON VALUE OF BAT
Pros: Decent pop, well balanced, very little vibration.
Cons: Used in the batting cage, after two rounds of hitting the grip completely came off. If you buy this bat be ready to buy another grip soon. This also happened to two other players on my team. Expected better quality from Rawlings.
Pros: Balanced bat
Cons: The ping can get loud and annoying indoors. This bat is not as good as i thought it would be. I wouldn't suggest it. Don't really feel the pop.
Pros: This bat has great pop and a big sweetspot! If you hit it right it will go far! My first game I used had used it i went 3-4 with a double single and a walkoff homerun! But the overall feel is great and it feels nice right out of the box
Cons: none so far
Pros: Amazing pops. Doubles and triples are regular occurrences now. My son didn't like the sound it makes at first but now he loves the big sound because it's usually a deep shot. A couple of his teammates are using the Marucci Cat 6 and the Easton Z-Core but this Velo outshines both those bats easily.
Cons: Extremely loud noise with contacts. Be prepared because it's a lot louder than other aluminum bats!!! Much louder than the Cat 6 and the Z-Core.
Pros: This bat is by far the best alloy bat on the market. Great pop, great grip, and the weight is balanced the best with any bat i have swung....very well recommend this bat. If you want a alloy bat i highly recommend this one, if not get the MAKO.
Cons: Not really a con, but if you hit it off the cap or handle it stings a little, just as all the other bats.
Pros: It has pop if you hit it on the sweet spot
Cons: not a large sweet spot and the barrel seems smaller than the MAKO
Pros: The bat is very light and balanced. Just bought the bat. I am a high school baseball player and am 6'1 and weigh 165. The bats pop is insane. Love the bat recommend to anyone
Cons: If you hit the ball on the inside the vibration hurts a little. Also, indoor bp its very loud. The bat js great recommened to anyone in high school baseball
Pros: very very balanced i love this bat it hot right out the rapper and has a amazing feel and sound the sound almost reminds me of the 2009 plasma i love it...??????
Cons: i had really had any bad things happen so far maybe a little sting after a jam shot off the handle
Pros: I bought this for the HS baseball team this year as the high end bat for the team. The boys have really taken to this bat, they like the balance and pop, but they all like the ping when the ball is hit well. We played our 8th game of the season on Friday and the first really warm day up here in NH for the season, I had my 4 hitter a SR hit a 2 run HR what I would estimate to be around 410' over our right field bleachers and football press tower.
Cons: The finish has some nicks in it and the boys have handled it pretty well so far I think. The ball marks are hard to come off and when they do the paint is definitely affected.
Pros: Good pop, well balanced, some vibration.
Cons: Tape came off after about 3 weeks, end cap broke 1 week later. For a Rawlings product and price, very disappointed .
Pros: amazing feel, pop is INSANE. you take one good swing and yoir in love , grip is thick and user friendly. undoubtedly the best bat i've ever owned . sweet spot just has amazing feel to it . rawlings did an amazing jon on this bat. will stidk woth rawlings from now on. if you are on edge about this bat, get it. you will not regret it .
Cons: if you have white batting gloves and you sweat it will tirn the hands blue, and the noise is REALLY loud. but after a few swings its totally manageable. obly real problem is that everyone loves useing it!
Pros: Crazy pop. Nice loud ping
Cons: not sure if i hit my cleat on the after-swing, but paint chips fairly easy
Pros: it has alright amount of pop, nice grip tape
Cons: i have bought three of these bats for my high school team and already two dented, it has an alright amount of pop but an annoying sound to it, dont buy this
Pros: Balanced feel Kid loves holding it, team mates want to use it Quality built product Love the .5" length & weight values as he grows Distinctive sound on contact
Cons: As a spectator, if sitting close, a well hit ball can 'ring' your ears
Pros: has good pop large sweet spot
Cons: inside pitches are extremely hard to hit solidly and the bat has very bad vibrations
Pros: lots of pop and balenced
Cons: Much more sting than other bbcor bats. very loud
Pros: balanced weight excellent report of the ball off the bat durable so far My Son loves this bat
Cons: none, other than a lot of use by other team members
Pros: Best feel Good Pop
Cons: I hit the end of the bat, and my hand could not stop stinging, it hurt alot
Pros: so far so good, this bat is very balanced a lot of pop
Cons: none
Pros: As a junior in college this is so far the best bat that I've used (previously used an Easton Mako and Louisville Prime). I normally use a 32" but 33" is the way to go for this bat. It's extremely balanced and easy to drive through the zone.
Cons: Grip will wear out easily... highly suggest a lizard skin.
Pros: Super balanced and actually has a huge sweet spot. So loud and you can feel the ball fly off the barrel. It is extremely satisfying.
Cons: Wish it had better grip
Pros: great bat! especially for the price
Cons: nothing wrong with it!
Pros: My son hit with someones 2015 and was in top 3 on team with batting average. Decided to get him the 2016 model. He is a bit smaller than other kids but with this bat he is smashing ropes. I hit with it a couple times and you do feel little vibration if not on sweet spot but when you do hit sweet spot feels like swinging at air, and will send ball screaming. Personally like the bat cause all size players can swing it and has good pop. very well balanced bat. And priced well compared to others that ain't as good. Highly recommended
Cons: a little vibration if not on sweet spot
Pros: Great Pop, Ball explodes off the barrel, very well balanced, like the grip a lot better than the 2017 Velo, Good overall bat
Cons: Grip comes off pretty easily so you might need to invest in some lizardskin, paint chips easily
Pros: great balance
Cons: would love more pop. comparing it to the S1. I understand the difference between the two bats. Balanced and end loaded. But still if it had more pop, wow.
Pros: Everything - especially love the sound when you hit the ball solid
Cons: Nothing
Pros: I'm 4'10 and weigh 98, first time I used this bat I shockingly hit 330 when I usually hit about 270, if you hit the ball with the sweet spot, expect a shot out of the gates because this bat does it all!
Cons: No cons at all, just very little vibration.
Pros: great pop and feel. get thru the zone fast
Cons: none
Pros: great pop and feel
Cons: none
Pros: The bat is great. Awesome pop, feels great in the batters' hands, and barely vibrates (Unless you hit it on the cap).
Cons: none
Pros: Frist at bat grand slam
Cons: none
Pros: great pop
Cons: none
Pros: Its a very nice bat with above average pop, very loud and intimidating, and extremely light
Cons: Its too light and feels awkward for a power guy, the grip may need to get replaced by some lizard skin which isnt a hard fix but still is a neccessity, wouldnt reccomend it for a power guy
Pros: GREAT POP
Cons: TAPE COMES OFF EASY

About the Brand
Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.
The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.
In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.
In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.
The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.
Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
