Great bat Rob W coach

Pros: I bought this bat for my son playing 12U travel. We played in a wood bat tournament and had a blast! My son loves the look and feel of the bat and he prefers to swing this in bp vs. his Ghost!

Cons: None so far

Surprised Dennis player

Pros: Great looking bat, has more pop than I expected, bought it for my son to use to develop strength as it is several ounces heavier than his usual bats. He has been hitting better overall with this than I thought possible. We may use it for tournament play if this keeps up.

Cons: None yet. Always concerned with breaking a wood bat, but sos far so good.

Great Bat for BP Eddy Parent

Pros: Great bat for batting practice. Helps the kids learn to hit the ball on the sweet spot of the bat. It also is a bit heavier that alloy or composites of the same length, so helps build strength and bat speed.

Cons: It is wood so it can get scuffed up. Just treat it right. Overall it is a great stick.

Ice bat! Mark Coach

Pros: Consistent weight from bat to bat. Nice pop, consistent sweet spot. My son (12) decided to use this bat in LL over a USABat. It was MUCH better than those. Swings a Mako in tournament ball as the composite is crazy. Changed to red/white/blue lizard skins, sweet looking bat.

Cons: It is wood, so the bat can break, namely if the ball is hit on the handle.

65 lb 8 year old cracks bat in first week Matt Graves Parent

Pros: Great sweet spot, great finish. Good looking bat. Was excited to have it, son turned down an $80 bat for this one

Cons: Second use w hitting coach, all was going well of tee. Went to overhand toss and the bat after 1/4 bucket was gone. Very disappointed. Then to read “no warranty” from the Rawlings website. $50 bucks down the drain in a week.

Broke on the very first live at bat Billy Parent

Pros: Nice looking bat.

Cons: Durability non existent, no warranty. Literally on hit wiffle balls prior to game action. Bat broke during the very first at bat during wood bat tournament. Bat logo was in the correct position. Contacted JustBats to see if the bat had any warranty, was told Rawlings does not warranty this bat. VERY DISSAPOINTED!

Broke 2 in 2 days Brian Colvin Coach

Pros: Bat has comparable pop measured with radar to the maple bats we use. Price is good considering it has a grip already installed.

Cons: Bat is supposed to be -7.5. Both bats we received measured 30” 19oz making them -11. One bat broke after <30 swings in bp. Next one broke during a game and had fewer than 20 swings. One hit was off the end of the bat and one off the handle (happens to kids). Both broke in the same spot a couple inches above the wrap.

My son and his team love this bat Garrett Dye Parent

Pros: Good looking bat, very well weighted and for a wood bat it has lots of pop. My son hits it all the time and I honestly think he would in games if I let him

Cons: Cracked just above wrap but below ring first night in the cage a kid got jammed and it happened. I wrapped it as tight as I could with athletic tape two rounds and it's still smacking a couple buckets a day

Son loved it...until it cracked. James Simpach Coach

Pros: My son loved the feel of this bat and balance of this bat, he even bought it with his own money. Was hitting great with it, better than his DeMarini Voodoo Balanced.

Cons: Crack in the handle after hitting approx. 15 pitches. Based on the scuff marks, he was holding it correctly and the bat was making contact with the balls on the grain edge. No 30 day manufacturer's warranty from Rawlings, unlike most other manufacturers. Maybe he just got a defective one, he's had Louisville and Easton wood bats and never had a crack in one before.

Pros: I have 2 kids. 11 and 15. 15 yr old has had a wood bat for years but the 11 yr old wanted one. This one was perfect, it's light enough, and a great price for BP etc.

Cons: nothing

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
