Great bat for the money - 30/27 BBCOR Brad Coach

Pros: swings super light compared to a 2015 voodoo overlord bbcor (hand-me-down) my 12 year old son had. Has a good sound to it and mishits off the end and handle don't sting like I thought a 1-piece would. Wanted the best bat available but had durability concerns with a composite in cold weather. Also couldn't find 1 person that used a bbcor composite in my area, so I went with this bat after talking to several people that use them. A composite ?might? be a better bat, but the price is twice as more and they definitely aren't close to twice the pop....

Cons: none really, maybe I wish I had bought a longer bat since it swings so easy.

Just Smash the Baseball Jim Simmons Coach

Pros: Bat speed, durability, and pop! Players choose this bat over more expensive models because the ball just flies off the barrell.

Cons: Don't miss the barrell.

Great bat at a low cost Sup-Jjor2 Player

Pros: Great balance and a lot of pop. Since I’ve been using this my power has increased but of course I have good technique and spend tons of time in the cage and on the tee. I’ve had it for 3 weeks and not only have I been hitting HR but my high school team uses my Vodoo and they hitting HR out too. My dad always say that good tools make your job easier..this tool is doing the job!!

Nice Chris Player

Pros: Great feel to the bat, little to none sting, and great swing weight.

Cons: Not very durable. Took a couple swings soft toss and I can already hear metal bits shaking in the bat. Not sure if it has any effect on performance though.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Any changes between the 2018 and the 2019 models? Dennis
The 2019 DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 offers a more durable end cap, but beyond that, it would be very similar to the 2018 version.
Logan
Is there a difference between this bat and the Louisville Slugger Omaha 519? matt
The 2019 DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 and the 2019 Louisville Slugger Omaha 519 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBO519B3 are both balanced, one piece alloy bats. While they are made by different manufacturers, they would be very similar.
Logan
Is this balanced and BBCOR? ab
Yes, the 2019 DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 is both balanced and BBCOR certified.
Tyler
My son is in 7th grade and will be playing middle school ball in the spring. He's 5'7", 140 lbs now. He is a power hitter that also hit for a high average. He swings pretty hard. He's currently using an Easton S40 or S140 (not entirely sure of model name) drop 3. He tends to have a little trouble right now with the very fast pitches. I'm looking for a bat that suits his power yet can generate the speed that he would need when he faces fast pitching in Middle School. Of all the different brands, and all the different models within the brands, which bat do you think is the best suited for him? I'm looking to spend $250 or less. What size bat would you recommend as well? joe
Per your son's height, weight and age we would recommend getting a 31 inch BBCOR bat. To help generate slightly better bat speed a balanced model would be your best option. The 2019 DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 will feature a balanced swing weight and thus may help with barrel control when facing pitchers that throw harder than the league average.
Cameron
My son is 5' 5'' tall, 110 pounds, and playing his first year with a -3. He hits mainly for average. Would this be a good first -3 bat? BC
The 2019 DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 would be a good option for your son. The balanced swing weight will make the transition to a -3 more smooth and give him a lightweight feel.
Max
What is the biggest difference between the voodo one and the voodoo balanced? Joe
The DeMarini Voodooo One BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTDXVOC19) is a one-piece all alloy design. The DeMarini Voodoo Balanced BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTDXVBC19) will feature an alloy barrel and a composite barrel. Both models will feature a balanced swing weight.
John
The end cap on the handle came off. Will it effect performance and durability? Robert
If the jewel knob has come off the DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19, this is the piece indicating the length and weight of the bat, it will not affect performance. The DeMarini jewel knobs are notorious for falling off in short order.
Cameron
How does this bat compare to the Cat 8 Andrew Cole
The DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR (WTDXVOC19) is a very solid one-piece, all alloy option for high schools players. The Marucci Cat 8 is also one of our best reviewed and better selling models. I would look at customer reviews and see what they are saying.
Kyle
When do the next year models typically become available for purchase? Sean Kerr
We would imagine the newer release of the DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 to become available around August 2019.
Cameron
Is the DeMarini Voodoo One USSSA certified or just USA certified? Shane
This DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR (WTDXVOC19) is BBCOR certified for high school and college play. This means it will not have the USSSA or the USA stamp on it. Most 14U age divisions also allow BBCOR models however.
Kyle
Do you have to break this bat in? Or is it hot out of the wrapper? Chris
The DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 features an alloy barrel and is thus hot out of the wrapper. No break-in is needed.
Cameron
I can hear bits of metal shaking inside my barrel. Is that normal? By the way, I just got this bat. Chris
The rattling you are experiencing in the DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 is due to the resin/glue that is used to seal the end cap to the barrel. This will not affect either the performance or durability of the bat.
Cameron
Does this bat have a large sweet spot compared to the CF Zen? KG
Unfortunately DeMarini does not advertise the sweet spot length of the DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 or the CF Zen. With that being said, we would imagine the performance of these two BBCOR bats to be very similar. The main difference is the feel between the two bats as one is a one-piece alloy (Voodoo ONE) and the other a two-piece composite (Zen).
Cameron
Does the length of the bat include the end cap that sticks out, or just to the end of the barrel Playerr
Generally speaking, the length of the DeMarini Voodoo One BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVOC19 would be measured from the knob to the end of barrel. This would not include the end cap, to our knowledge.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
