2018 Drop 10 XENO Pete parent

Pros: Balanced. Essentially no break in period. No complaints of sting in the hands after about 10 games. Batting over .300 with 4 home runs. This thing is a beast. Add to cart... you won't regret it.

Cons: Zero. Zip. Nada. Zilch. Nothing.

2018 Xeno Whit player

Pros: Bat feels good and is weighted very well. Sweet spot is very big and the bat is very forgiving when you miss the sweet spot.

Cons: It took about 100+ hits to break it in where it felt like it had as much pop as the 2017 model.

Good stick Bryan parent

Pros: My daughter hit this bat and the Easton Ghost in hittrax at a demo. Her average exit velo was the same with both bats. She said the sweet spot felt bigger on the Xeno and overall it had a better feel. We went in with intentions of buying the Ghost and walked out with the Xeno instead. Great pop, great feel and when you square a ball up, the sound turns heads.

Cons: None so far

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My granddaughter wonders if there is one side of the bat to hit on or can she hit the ball all around the bat? The girls on her travel team were wondering. We have had 3 XENO bats just got the 2018. jim
With the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 there isn't a specific side to hit on. Focus on hitting on the barrel and rotate the handle to even out the hits on the barrel.
Max
I was wondering why LS changed the end cap on the XENO 2018. I've owned several XENO bats (2014 - 2017 versions). I had to get a replacement bat because my 2017 broke and the only one available was the 2018 in the 33"/23 oz size. The past XENOs have a distinct sound when you hit. I noticed the 2018 does not sound the same. Is this because of the change in the end cap? Jules14
Louisville decided to update the end-cap on this 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPXN18A10) because the new X-Cap is lighter and allows the swing speed to be increased. Unfortunately, I am not sure of the exact reason that the sound has changed on the bat. Since the end-cap is the newest thing to be added to the bat, I think there is a chance that updated X-Cap could possibly be the reason for the change in sound.
Ben
Between the 2018 XENO (-10) and DeMarini CFX (-10), which is better? DG
Essentially, both this 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPXN18A10) and the DeMarini CFX are two-piece, all-composite bats with balanced swing weights. Both bats have rated well with JustBats customers in past seasons. However, since both bats are pretty new, it would be hard to rate one model over the other in regard to reviews.
Ben
In your opinion which bat is better for someone that can hit for power and is a contact hitter, the XENO or the LXT? lindz
I would suggest the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 for a contact and power hitter,
Max
What is the break in period for the new Xeno? lulu
The 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 requires virtually no break in period, but 50-100 swings off a tee or soft toss would ensure maximum performance out of the bat.
Logan
My daughter's hitting coach told us to pick up a 34" 24 oz. bat. Shes 5'-9" tall and is only 12 years old. Does that sound right for her height and age? softball dad
Based on her height, that size wouldn't be out of the question. We would recommend right around a 33-34" bat. If you were worried about the weight of the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10, you could drop down to a -11 such as the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A11 in a 33" 22 oz. size.
Logan
Does this bat come in a drop 11? Shanti
The 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 is a -10 model. If seeking the -11 model you are looking for the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A11.
Cameron
My girl is 125 lbs 5"2' age 10. What bat is the right fit for her (softball fastpitch)? mikey
Based on her height and weight, we suggest a 32" bat. The 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 is a great option consider for her.
Jason
What is the major difference between the Xeno and the LXT? Alex Solomon
The LXT will have a slightly larger sweet spot than the Xeno, along with a slightly different barrel technology. The Xeno will be a bit more balanced and better for a contact hitter, while the LXT is catered more toward stronger, older players or those with more power.
Kyle J.
Do all XENO bats come end loaded? Todd
No, all Louisville Slugger XENO bats do not come end loaded. This 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPXN18A10) actually features a balanced swing weight.
JP
My daughter is 5'8" and 190 lbs and is 14 years old. I heard different things on how to get the right size bat. Is the 33" or 34" -10 the proper bat for her? jack
Based off the information you have provided, I would recommend the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 in a 34 inch bat length. I wouldn't swing anything lighter than a -10 and under 33 inches.
Dan
I have an 8u and a 10u here and looking for new bats for both. 8u is 5'1 115llbs and 10u is 5'5 120 lbs. What sizes am I looking for, also PXT or Xeno? Oldest is contact hitter and youngest is power. Notch7
For the younger player I would recommend the 2018 Louisville Slugger PXT -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPPX18A10 in a 32 inch if she is more of a power hitter. For the older player I would recommend the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 in a 33 inch bat length.
Dan
My daughter is a freshman in high school. She is 5'2" about 140 lbs. She is currently swinging the 2014 XENO which has lost its pop. I am looking to see if the XENO would be a good option for her (she is swinging a 32 now)? Should I get her a 33? Tony
Based upon her height and weight, our general suggestion would be for a 32" length of bat. However, if she handled the 32" bat fine in the past, I think moving to a 33" length would be fine for moving forward. I think this 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPXN18A10) would be a fine bat to get if she enjoyed the 2014 XENO in the past.
Ben
Is this the 2018 version if the 2017 Xeno Plus? coach
Yes, the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 is the newer model of the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170.
Logan
My daughter is a senior, 5'6" & about 135 lbs. Would the 34" be the best option for her? Missy
Based on your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 in a 33 inch model.
Cameron
I am 5'10" and about 140 lbs. Would the 33" be the best option for me? Kaylynn
Based on your height and weight, I would agree that the 33" 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 would be the best size for you.
Logan
My daughter is 5'5" & about 115 pounds. Would a 33" be the best size for her? Angie
We would recommend a 32" length for her height and weight, but these are always plus or minus 1", so a 33" could work as well.
Kyle J.
If my daughter is 4"11", weighs 125 lbs and plays in a 10U softball league, what size of bat should she be swinging? #99
We would suggest a 31" or 32" length for her height and weight.
Kyle J.
My daughter is 5'3" and 100 lbs. She packs alot into her small frame. What size is recommended for her? Tammy Bradshaw
Based on your player's height and weight, I would recommend a 32" length bat. As long as your player can handle a 22 oz weight, I would recommend a 32" length version of this 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPXN18A10).
Ben
What is the difference between the 2018 Louisville Slugger LXT -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPLX18A10) and the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPXN18A10)? Ashleey
The 2018 Louisville Slugger LXT -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPLX18A10) will be more balanced and a bigger sweet spot than the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPXN18A10).
Damon
What is the difference between the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat and the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTLFPXN18A10)? Markus
They made some minor improvements to the end cap and composite material the bat is made out of for the 2018 model. However, I would honestly look for a 2017 model if you can still find one in the size you need, as it will still be a great performer and should be much cheaper than a new 2018 model.
Kyle J.
What is the difference between the 2018 Xeno and the 2018 Xeno Platinum limited edition? BB
The only difference between the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 and the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO Platinum -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXNW8A10 is the limited edition Platinum design featured on the Platinum model.
Logan

My daughter is 12 years old, 5'7 and weighs 150 lbs. She currently is swinging a 34/24 Easton. What size would you recommend for her in the Xeno? Recruiter
Based on your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend getting the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 in a 34'' as long as she is comfortable with that length currently.
Tori
My granddaughter has been using a Xeno 33 -11 for a couple of years with good success. What do you think about moving to a Xeno 33 -10 or a LXT 33-10, she is a freshman, 5'1" about 140 lbs? Her current bat has a dead spot, can this bat be refurbished? Cindy
I would recommend going with the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 in a 33'', because she has had success with the XENO. If your granddaughter prefers a more flex feel at the point of contact I would recommend going with the LXT. Unfortunately, her current bat can not be refurbished unless purchased within a year you can have it replaced.
Max
My Xeno paint is cheap. Will that have any effect to my bat? Muhammad aminuddin bin izhar
I cannot speak to the quality of the paint used on the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10, however the paint will not have any impact on the performance or durability of a bat.
Tyler
My 13 daughter currently has the 2017 LXT 32” -10 but has had a growth spurt. She is 5’6” and 158 lbs. We are looking at 33” -10. She is a contact power hitter, but just inches from clearing the fence. Should we get her another LXT or consider the Xeno? Can we stick with 2018? Kerrie
The 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10 will still be very balanced and a great bat. She may find she is able to get a little more power behind the Xeno. The 2018 model is a great choice.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
