Transcript
If you play in Little League, and want to swing a big barrel bat, listen up! I’m going to give you the low down on what you should be looking for when buying your next bat. There are 3 divisions in Little League that allow big barrel bats: Junior, Senior, and Big League. All 3 allow only 2 ? inch barrels, but there are some big differences. In Junior League, which is ages 12-14, players are allowed to use big barrel bats that DO NOT have a composite barrel. Composite barreled bats MUST be BBCOR Certified. In Senior League, age 13-16, and Big League, age 15-18, players MUST use a BBCOR Certified bat. This means that it must have a -3 drop weight and a BBCOR stamp on the barrel. If you plan to use a wood bat in any of these leagues, the barrel cannot exceed 2 ? inches in diameter, and the handle cannot be less than 15/16 inches, or ? inch for bats under 30 inches. Little League does not allow bats with 2 ¾ inch barrels. Also, if your bat is heavily damaged or appears to have been altered to improve performance, it may be deemed illegal to use. If you’re still not sure what kind of bat you need, feel free to give our customer service team a call and we’ll be happy to help!
