Dixie Baseball: Youth Bat Rules - JustBats.com Buying Guide
Watch to ensure your youth bat is approved for play in Dixie Youth Baseball!
Transcript
If you play in a Dixie Youth league, there are a few things you need to know before you buy your next bat. The first and most important thing to note is that whether you play in the Single A, Double A, Triple A, or Majors Division, your bat needs to have a 2 ¼ inch barrel diameter. The Single A division is the tee ball division. It’s for kids ages 4-5 and is the only division where tee ball bats can be used. It’s also the only division where a BPF 1.15 stamp isn’t required. If you play Double A, which is ages 8 & under, Triple A, which is ages 10 & under, or Majors, which is ages 12 & under, your bat will need to be BPF 1.15 certified, whether its the old stamp or the new one. Most alloy and composite bats that are approved for Dixie Youth will say so on the barrel, so you can always look for that. Wood bats with a 2 ¼ inch barrel are also OK to use. If you’re looking at or have an older model alloy or composite bat, you may want to check the approved bats list at www.dixie.org to be on the safe side. It’s also good to keep in mind that the umpire may declare your bat illegal for use if it is heavily damaged or if he suspects that it might have been altered to improve its performance. Hope that answers all of your questions. If you’re still unsure about what you need, feel free to give our customer service team a call and we’ll be happy to help!
