Pros: Fantastic bat! Been searching to find a bat that son loved as much as his Marucci Cat5. That search is over. Very easy to swing, no sting, and GIANT sweet spot. The ball explodes off this bat. Cons: The bat seems very end weighted to me. Used a Marrucci CAT 5 last season which felt way more evenly balanced than this bat. I'm not buying into the AIR technology giving more evenly balanced bat. Does anyone else feel this way about the bat's weight distribution?

Pros: Much improved from last years model. With the reduction in head weight the balance is much better. Bat speed has increased substantially with this new design. Ball comes off very hot for a BBCOR bat. Highly recommend this one!! You can't go wrong with Rip-it. If you don't like it they will take it back inside the first 30 days.

Cons: Change the color of the grip to something other than white, red would be a good option on this color scheme.

Pros: While the videos are a joke, the quality of the bat is remarkable. I have the Rip It RED recertified Prototype, the White Prototype II and now the AIR. The RED (no longer available) is a GREAT bat but does not have the balance this one has. My swing speed is an amazing 6 MPH faster with this bat which translates to more line drives. I had to choke up 1 1/2 inches (size 32) to achieve the same swing speed and did not have near the consistency in hitting the ball on a line. The White Prototype II did not have the "pop" the RED displayed but was still an above average bat. More about Rip It, my grips were damaged on two of my bats and they were promptly replaced without question. Great bats, great service, what more would you want.

Pros: Decent, but bad for the money.

Pros: That rip it prototype air is a great bat with great balance and feel. My son who is in High school has hit with it the past 2 days and it has lots of pop and delivers sold contact hits,it is just a all around great bat to have. We have had them all Easton S1 ,XL1 ,5150, the Velo 5150,Voodoo, Louisville Omaha, Marucci black and cat bat, etc etc. The rip it air bat is way better in pop balance and hitting performance.Try it out like they say 30 day buy it back it you don't like it but, if you try it you will keep it.

Cons: Non at all 100% great hitting bat

Pros: The bat was very good and the bat had more pop than any other BBCOR. It does feel a little heavy but I can still get it around. The paint does not chip at all and the grip is very nice.

Cons: In my seventh game I had a single off the end which sounded weird. Two games later I took another one off the end and the end cap went flying. The bat would have gotten 5 stars but it broke in our tenth game. But it is under warranty. The grip does get very black and dirty the first time you use it.

This is his 1st BBCOR bat and the power and pop are still there. He loves the bat and those that were hassling him for buying it are now wanting to use it in the games...sorry, that wont happen! The bat is everything we were hoping it would be....rock on Rip-It!!

Pros: bought this (32/29) for my 13 yr old for his U-13 travel team to start getting him ready for HS BBCOR .50 bat weight and performance, and he started crushing the ball on first day of tournament. the balance of this bat allowed him to turn his hips and drive the barrel through the zone aggressively and sent the longest hit of the tourney. buying another one in 33.5/30.5 to put away until next spring for 1st year HS baseball.

Cons: none yet

Pros: Very well balanced, swings great. Comes in 1/2 inch increment sizes. You might need a slightly bigger bat than you think because it swings fast and light. The performance was nothing special when the weather was cool but when the weather heated up, so did this bat. Very good performance for a BBCOR. We exchanged the original one for one a 1/2 inch longer because of the lightness mentioned above, the company complied with no objections.

Cons: You may need a slightly larger size bat than with other models. My experience is that it did not perform well in cool weather.

Pros: It has a very cool look to it, and has good pop. But..if your looking for a balanced bat, this bat is NOT what you want. Even though reviews and descriptions say that it is balanced, it's not. If you want balance, go for the 2012 Voodoo, Easton S1 or 2, or Demarini VXM NVS, and CF5.

Tom

Kara
How is this bat compared to the original red BBCOR Prototype? Is this bat good for a power hitter? Walter
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype AIR BBCOR will be more balanced and a little lighter swinging compared to the original red Prototype. The Prototype AIR would be a great choice for a power hitter.
Nick
Which would you recommend, the new Rip It Prototype Air or the Easton S1? Rek0104
Both bats are top of the line. You should base your decision on whether you prefer a one-piece fully aluminum design like the RIP-IT Prototype AIR or a two-piece fully composite bat like the Easton S1.
Tom
Is the regular red RIP-IT Prototype or the RIP-IT Prototype Air better for the price? rich5123
Both bats are made from the same high performing alloy so the pop off the bat will be similar. The RIP-IT Prototype AIR will have better weight distribution and feel lighter to swing.
Tom
Which bat is more balanced the this bat or the Rawlings 5150? Kyle
Both bats are going to be about equal in balance.
Kara
Would you recommend this bat for a slow-swinging power hitter? Alexja2008
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR is a very balanced one-piece bat. Perfect for a power hitter who needs some bat speed.
Kara
Does the Rip-it bbcor air have a lighter swing weight than the Easton S series? patrick
The Rip-It Prototype Air is a balanced bat, but the Easton S Series will still have a lighter swing weight.
Tyler
I noticed in the bat reviews, there was a complaint about the end cap coming off of the Prototype. I assume these may have been the 2012 models. Do you know if the end cap issue has been fixed? Have you heard of anymore complaints about the end cap dropping off, cracking, etc? Thank you. Kangaru
Rip-It corrected the endcap issue on the Prototype midway through their production process last year. The latter half of the 2012 line and the 2013 line do not have the same endcap issues.
Tyler
How is this bat compared to a Demarini Voodoo? I'm curious because i've been looking into buying a Rip It TJine12
Both the Rip-It Prototype Air and the Demarini Voodoo have been very popular BBCOR models. The main difference is that the Rip-It Air model is a one-piece all alloy that is very well balanced. The Demarini Voodoo is going to be a hybrid design with a slight endloaded feel.
John
Is it true that BBCOR bats hit better after they have been hit with a lot as in they hit better once they've been "broken in"? hunter
Composite barrel bats will require a "break in period" while the alloy barrel bats will be game ready right out of the wrapper. The Rip-It Prototype Air will not require any type of break in since its a one-piece all alloy.
John
Are all sizes legal in college play? moose
Yes. All sizes of the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A are BBCOR certified and legal for Collegiate play.
Tyler
Is this bat good for power hitters? Allen
For a stronger hitter with above average swing speed, the regular Rip-It Prototype may be a better option. The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A is a more balanced version geared towards players who may not hit with as much power or swing speed.
Tyler
Is this bat good for people with a fast swing? Reggie
Yes, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is made for an increased and faster bat speed.
Jeff
I'm 13 and I'm 5'5" and 120 pounds. I'm more of a balanced bat swinger. I was either going to get this bat or the DeMarini Voodoo. Which would be the better choice? Jared
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult would be a great choice for a player like you trying to hit those exact specifications. It will have an AIR Balanced Swing Weight to go along with the Rifle Barrel for 7.2% better weight distribution and accelerated bat speed. Being a One-Piece Alloy model you will be ready for game action as soon as you receive it. RIP-IT also has a 30 Day Love It or Return It Program. So you can swing it in games and practice and decide if it is the bat for you. The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR: DXVDC Adult is a great bat but it will have an end loaded feel in the barrel's swing weight.
Brandon
okay so I use an easton s1 and I'm wondering if switching to the prototype air would be better. I'm 6'2 and 250 lds boots
Both are very balanced, However, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR Air is a one-piece alloy bat that will be stiffer, better for a power hitter.
Kara
Is the the 31 and the 31.5 inch a big difference in length and weight? Antonio
A 31.5" bat will be .5" longer and .5 oz. heavier than a 31" model.
Tyler
I'm not a power hitter, is this a good bat for me? Bob
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A is a one-piece alloy bat that is generally better suited for a power hitter.
Aubrey
Does this bat easily break? Anton
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR is made of top of the line alloy for high performance and durability.
Kara
How long is the sweet spot of this bat? renzo
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat will have an extended sweet spot similar to any other 2013 BBCOR model. The Prototype BBCOR AIR features a power balanced swing weight that allows players to generate additional power while still staying in control of their swing. Expect this new Prototype to be one of the best alloy bats you've ever swung.
Brandon
Is there any difference in pop between this and normal 2013 model? Ben
That depends on the player, their swing speed and strength. The Prototype Air is more balanced and a player with average or below average strength and swing speed would probably see more pop with it. The regular Prototype has a slighlty endloaded feel and a player with above average strength and swing speed will probably see more pop with that one.
Tyler
What length and weight baseball bat do I need? I'm 14 years old, 35 kg. and 4'9" tall. jacob
The recommended bat length would be 29 inches long. As far as weight is concerned it would depend upon what the league you play in allows. Any BBCOR approved bat for high school would be a drop 3 which would make the weight 26 ounces.
Jeff
Can the rip it air be used in cold weather games Iam4nu
The barrel of the RIP-IT Prototype Air is constructed of alloy material which can be used in the colder weather. The bats made of the composite material is what you shouldn't use in the colder temps.
Derek
What is the sound of this bat when it hits a ball? Is it a "ting" sound or a crack like a wood bat? Chel
Here is a link to the videos on the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat from our website: http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-rip-it-prototype-bbcor-air--b1303a-adult/16012/ It will help you hear the sound of this product in game type action.
Brandon

John H
I am 6'0" 240 pounds. I am a power hitter, would this bat be a good suggestion for me? Zack BIG EASY Johnson
Yes, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult baseball bat would be a good suggestion for you. Many power hitters prefer a one-piece alloy bat like the RIP-IT Prototype.
Jeff
Will this bat's cap come off very quickly like last years model did? Big Nick
No. Rip-It fixed all endcap issues halfway through production of their 2012 model.
Tyler
I am a smaller player. I am 15 years old about 130 lbs and a contact hitter. Is this ok for me? Clarse
Absolutely! The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR is a balanced bat that would be great for a contact hitter.
Damon
Does this bat have more pop and better weight distribution than the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo? theGrizz
The 2013 Rip-It Prototype BBCOR Air will be more balanced than the DeMarini Voodoo and have alot of pop.
Damon
What is the difference between 2013 Marucci Black 2 and the 2013 Rip-It Prototype? Chris
The Marucci Black 2 is a hybrid bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The Rip-It Prototype Air is a one-piece, full alloy bat.
Tyler
Is this bat one of the lightest on the market? G$
If you are referring to balance and swing weight, there are many BBCOR bats on the market, and there really isn't just one or two that stand out as obvious choices as "most balanced" or "lightest swing weight". However, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A is a balanced bat with a lighter than average swing weight.
Tyler
Which bat has a lighter swing weight and bigger sweet spot, this bat or the 2013 5150? Bob
Both the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR and the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR have a balanced swing weight and similar sweet spots. RIP-IT offers a 30 Day Love It or Return It Program. So you can swing it in games and practice and decide if it is the bat for you.
John
Can you hit with this bat and still have the "Love it or return it" guarantee apply? DCDCDCDCDCDCDCDCDC
Yes. The 30 Day "Love It or Return It" Program is covered by Rip-It and they allow you to use the bat and return it to them if you don't like it.
Tyler
Which has more pop? The 2013 Marucci Black 2 or the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR? Cal
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR and the Marucci Black 2 are both very high quality bats with a ton of pop. Their performance is going to be about the same. The Black 2 is a two-piece hybrid bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The RIP-IT is a one-piece bat that is full alloy. The Black 2 will have some flex to it and the AIR will be stiffer swinging.
Nick
Is rip-it planning to make a composite bat? Colin
Rip-It will not be producing any composite models in their current line of bats.
Tyler
Does this bat have a lighter swing weight than the 5150 velo? #10
The Rawlings 5150 Velo has a slightly lighter swing weight than the Prototype Air.
Tyler
With "Air" bats I have purchased in the past the performance is best when it is a certain temp outside bc the air pocket insert needs to be expanded to its fullest. Does this bat have that insert? I have researched and cannot figure out what the "Air" means. AL
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A does not have the air pocket you are referring to. "Air" just refers to the fact that this bat is a more balanced bat with a lighter swing weight.
Tyler
I had a RIP-IT Prototype II and it dented twice. Once even in the sweet spot. Will this bat do the same, or has RIP-IT improved the bat? Eric
I have not heard any stories of denting on the Sweet Spot of this 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult. This bat will be a One-Piece R1 Alloy Design. It will provide an AIR Balanced Swing Weight and an Acoustic Barrel Tuned for Speed. The AIR Technology will help the player with a lighter swing weight and better performance. If you are looking to improve your bat speed this BBCOR bat is going to be the popular pick. This bat will come with the 30 day "Love It or Return It" Program from RIP-IT. Also comes with a 400 Day warranty through RIP-IT as well.
Brandon
I am 5'10' and 140 lbs., should I get a 32" or 32.5" bat? T
The recommended size for your weight and height would be a 32". If you have a really fast swing speed you should be fine moving up to a 32.5".
Jeff
Do you think this bat is more balanced than the DeMarini CF5 2013 -3 BBCOR? Rams
The 2013 CF5 is even more balanced this year than it was last year, therefor it is going to be a little more balanced than the 2012 RIP-It Prototype BBCOR Air.
Noah
Which bat is more balanced and which bat has a larger sweet spot, the 2013 Rip-It Prototype BBCOR Air, or the 2013 Easton S1? Connor
The Easton S1 will be a little more balanced than the Rip-It Prototype Air. Both have similar size sweetspots.
Tyler
Is there a breakin process for this bat? Shah
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A is an alloy bat and will not require a break-in period.
Kara
I am strictly a contact hitter and am looking for a bat with good balance that I can get good swing speed out of. Should i pick this bat? Cameron

Damon
Which bat has better pop, this or the Omaha Balanced? Ingle
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat and the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha Balanced BBCOR: BB136 Adult bat will have very similar pop. Both bats will be very balanced in swing weight. Both bats will be made up of One-Piece all Alloy construction. Power Hitters tend to love the stiffer feel of the One-Piece models. The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat does come with the 30 Day "Love It or Return It" Program From RIP-IT. You have 30 days to hit it as much as you want to see if you approve. If not, send it back to RIP-IT for a full refund or exchange.
Brandon
If you purchase a Rip-It for a Christmas present, can the 30-day "Love It" trial begin on December 26th or will it run from date of purchase? PharmFrog
The 30-day "Love It" trial will begin on date of purchase in Rip-It bats.
Damon
I bought my son the orignal red RIP-IT Prototype, and he is still using it and hitting bombs with it. He is ready for a new bat, and my concern is what to get him now. He has hit the 5150 and liked it, but what about the new black RIP-IT compared to the original one, is it as hot as the first one? Walter
Yes, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is going to perform just as well as the 2012 model. It is going to be more balanced than last years model but performance wise you will see no difference.
Noah
I had the RIP-IT Prototype 2 and many of my teammates and I had problems with durability. When the bat was fresh it was amazing but pretty early in the season the pop started to decrease and nearly all of us got dents in the same place, right where the barrel starts transitioning to the handle. So overall I was pretty disappointed. I was just wondering if this bat was better built to retain pop and protect against denting. Howey
Yes, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is said to be more durable than the 2012 model was.
Zach
Which bat is better for a contact hitter, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A baseball bat or the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 3 BBCOR: BB13EX Adult baseball bat? dirtylid
Both bats are made to have a light and balanced swing weight that contact hitters want. Both bats are well suited for contact hitters.
Jeff
Haven't hit one ball yet and something is ratteling around inside the bat. What should i do? Kevin

Tyler
I am turning 14 soon. I am 5 ft 5in. What size bat should i get? Most people tell me to use a 31 in, but i am going to buy an expensive bat like this one or one of the Easton S series bats so will a 32 in bat be okay so it'll last longer? It's for the new AAU season. I'm just want to make this bat last so will 32 in be too awkward? Also, is this bat end-loaded?? i hate end-loaded bats. That's why I prefer the cf5 over the voodoo. Thanks very much. I really appreciate it. Cool Kid
For sizing, I recommend our Bat Coach. It's a great tool: http://www.batwarehouse.com/bat-coach/. The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A is a balanced bat.
John
How does the balance of this bat compare to the Marucci Black or Black 2? Jim
All are balanced bats. However, I feel the original Marucci Black was a little more well balanced than the Black 2. To me, the Rip-It Prototype Air is somewhere between the original Marucci Black and the Marucci Black 2 in terms of balance. Again though, all are balanced.
Tyler
What bat would be better the Easton S3 or RIP-IT prototype Air? I'm going to high school next season I'm 5'5 13 years old, and weigh 140 pounds. Baseball_kid
Both the 2013 Easton S3 and the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR are very high performing bats. They both have a balanced feel, and a lot of pop. RIP-IT does have a 30 Day "Love It or Return It" Program , and they extended this for the holiday season until 01/25/13, so it might be the better option.
Noah
Which bat has a larger sweet spot and more overall balance, the RIP-IT BBCOR AIR or the Marucci Black 2? MattD
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat is a one-piece all alloy design. It will provide AIR Technology for a lighter swing weight and better performance. It will have a Rifle Barrel for 7.2% better weight distribution and accelerated bat speed. This bat is very balanced. The 2013 Marucci Black 2 BBCOR: MCBB20 Adult bat will have a Seamless two-piece hybrid design. This bat will also be very balanced in swing weight. It is constructed with an extended barrel for a larger sweet spot. Both bats will be great models for good sweet spots and overall balance.
Brandon
Is this bat a stiff handle bat. mike
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult has a stiff handle.
Kara
What's the most balanced BBCOR bat? dave
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is one of the most balanced BBCOR bats on the market.
Kara
I am wondering if this is a contact hitters bat or a power hitters bat? I am 6' 2" 220 lbs. Chas
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat will work for all types of hitters. I typically, see it preferred by contact, gap hitters though. The balanced swing weight makes for a truly easy swing. Power hitters tend to prefer the barrel heavy, end loaded feel. This bat will be very balanced. At your size I would recommend a 34" bat length.
Brandon
Is the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult approved for high school play in the 2013 season? keith
Yes, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR Air: B1303A Adult features the BBCOR certified stamp needed for high school play.

Both the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult, and the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha Balanced BBCOR: BB136 Adult are going to be balanced bats for contact hitters, but the Omaha balanced will have a little more balance making it the better bat for a contact hitter.
Noah
What bat is overall better? The new Rip-It Air or the Marucci Black 2? bk
Based on customer reviews both bats are very high performing bats, but the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR has been more popular than the Marucci Black 2.
Noah
What is the difference between the 2013 Rip-It air and the 2013 red Rip-It besides the color and price? Dan
The Prototype Air is more evenly balanced. The regular Prototype will have a slight endload to it.
Tyler
I am 6 foot, 170lbs. I'm unsure wether to get 33 inch or 33.5 inch. Any suggestions? Matt
I would recommend a 33" for your size and weight.
Jeff
Does this barrel have a bigger sweet spot then the 2013 Omaha Balanced and the 2013 S1? dave
All three bats should have the same sweet spot. None of the bats advertise an extend barrel or larger that average sweet spot so they should all be the same size.
Jeff
I am 6'0", about 171. 33/30 or 33.5/30.5? Gus
A 33" 30 oz. RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR is recommended based on your size.
Tyler

Kara
What is the difference in the first Prototype red bat that came out in 2010 when the BBCOR bats hit the market and the black 2013 Air bat now? My son has and is still killing the ball with the first one but is ready for a new one. Is this bat as good for a power hitter as the original Prototype? Slim
The new 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A is designed with a lighter swing weight and is more balanced than the original Prototype making it a better choice for hitters with average to below average strength and swing speed. In terms of overall feel and performance, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR: B1303 will be more similar to the original Prototype.
Tyler
Can this bat be returned? Jake
Your complete satisfaction is our goal. There is no time frame that unused items in their original condition may be returned for exchange or refund.
Jeff
How solid is the new Rip-It Air end cap? Brandon12
The end cap issue was resolved in the 2012 version so the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat should not have an issue. This bat features a full 400 Day Manufacturer's warranty if the bat does become defective.
Aubrey
Should I go with this bat or the Louisville Slugger Exogrid 3? Ao student
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat is a one-piece all alloy model. It has an extremely light swing weight. The Louisville Slugger Exogrid 3 is a two-piece bat. The handle is a composite and the barrel is an alloy material. Neither bat will require a period of break-in period. The Exogrid 3 will have a balanced swing weight as well. The Prototype BBCOR AIR will come with a 30 Day love it or return it policy from RIP-IT.
Brandon
I noticed that this bat is available as a 32.5" and was wondering what physical dimension range (weight/height), this length is suitable for as most sizing charts do not include .5" lengths? gapper22
RIP-IT produced the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR in whole and half sizes and weights to offer the user the most customized bat options available.
Kara
From what I understand all BBCOR bats are the same. It all matters what feels best to you and what you hit best with. Will the rifling of the barrel make this bat have any more pop? Ao student
The rifle barrel on the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat will give it better weight distribution, not pop. The swing weight on this bat is very balanced and will feel very light while the hitter is swinging through the zone.
Brandon
The year earlier model of this bat (white one) was horrible it went dead in a week and a half, is this one better is it going to last? Dallin
It seems that RIP-IT has made some drastic changes between the old model and the B1303A. We have received little to no complaints on this bat breaking or losing pop prematurely. Plus, RIP-IT offers a 30-Day Love It or Return It policy. If you are not completely happy with your RIP-IT within the first 30 days, you can return it for a full refund or exchange.
Derek
What are the actual differences in the way these bats hit other than the balance? Do they hook them up to a machine to test it or is it all feel? Ago student
Here is some helpful information straight from Rip-It that does a good job of explaining the performance and design of the Rip-It Prototype Air. http://www.ripitsportinggoods.com/bats/baseball/bbcor/air/
Tyler
Is this bat end loaded or balanced? Brandon
The 2013 Rip-It Prototype BBCOR Air is a balanced bat.

Tyler
What are the differences from the Prototype II from last year and is the bat more durable? Also is this bat more for contact hitters or power hitters? Pitching Nightmare
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult uses new rifle technology for a more balanced bat and faster swing speed. The new technology has increased the durability as well. Normally one-piece bats like the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult are best suited for power hitters, but the balanced feel would be great for contact hitters as well.
Kara
What is the difference between the Rip-It Prototype Air and the Rip-It Prototype II? I have decided to go with Rip-It but I am finding it very hard to decide between those two bats. Which one should I go with? Aaron
The 2013 Rip-It Prototype Air will be more balanced than the Rip-It Prototype II. If you are more of a line drive/contact hitter you would want to go with the Rip-It Prototype Air. If you are more of a power hitter you would want to go with Rip-It Prototype II.
Damon
Why is the Prototype Air more for line drive hitters, and the Prototype II more for power hitters, could you explain your answer. Rooster
The Air is more balanced, meaning a hitter with average to below average strength and swing speed will do better with it. The regular Prototype is not as well balanced making it better for a stronger hitter.
Tyler
Is this a good bat? Brett
Yes, the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is a good bat.
Zach
Since this bat is both a stiff one piece bat and a lightweight bat, will it be better suited for a power or contact hitter? matt
Weight distribution is more important. The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A is a well balanced bat that is great for hitters with average to below average swing speed and power.
Tyler
My son is 14 yrs old - 5'10" - 170lbs - line drive hitter - any suggestions on bat and size? ohiodad
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 32" 29 oz. model in the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat. For further sizing information, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
My son is 14 years old, 5 foot 6, and 130 pounds. I just got him a Marucci Black 2 (32-27oz) for tournaments. We are going to play league and use BBCOR so we can be used to it when June requirements go into effect for their age. What size Rip-it Prototype BBCOR AIR would fit him? I am thinking 32-29oz. He hits the ball with power. jeff
The recommended size for his height and weight is a 31" 28 oz. However, if he will not be using the BBCOR bat until later in the season, the 32" 29 oz 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult would work for him. It is a very balanced bat.
Kara
I am 5'4", weigh 120 lbs. and I am 13. Would you recommend this bat so I can get ready for High School? Plus I am a contact hitter. Rocco G
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR is a great bat and will have a very balanced swing weight so it will help make the transition to High School easier. You might look at a -5 USSSA bat as well if you don't think you're ready to transition to BBCOR yet.
John H
I'm 6'3" and I weigh 250 pounds at age 16. I'm pretty strong and consider myself a power hitter. I am strongly considering this bat and the Marucci Black 2. What are the main differences between these two bats? szabs
Both are great bats. The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is a one-piece alloy bat, and features RIP-IT's rifle barrel technology which gives the bat a lighter swing weight. The 2013 Marucci Black 2 BBCOR: MCBB20 Adult will be a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. It also features an extended barrel with a larger sweet spot. Both are very balanced bats. Generally a power hitter prefers a one-piece bat.
Robert C
Even though this bat is balanced, is it good for power hitters as well? Nick
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A is great for any hitter who prefers a balanced bat.
Tyler
Which bat would be better for me? I am 13 and I'm 6'3 175 and a power hitter. I have used my friends 2012 Easton XL1 and I liked it a lot but this bat has better reviews. Which one do you think is best for me? BIG T DAWG
It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
Tyler
I am 5'9" and 220lbs. What size should I swing and I am also a power hitter and love to crush the ball so which bat is best suited for me, this 2013 RIP-IT Prototype Air or the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype? NB'sFinest25
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is will perform similar to the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR: B1303 Adult. The AIR has the Rifle Barrel for better weight distribution and faster bat speeds. I would suggest a length of 33" but you could go up to a 34".
Frank
My son is age 18 5'8" 170llb. His swing speed has been measured @ 85. He has good power for his size. Which Rip-It do you reccommend and what size? Or would another brand of bat better suit him? KMS
If he has above average swing speed and power the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR: B1303 is recommended. The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A has a lighter swing weight and is better suited for players with average to below average strength and swing speed. A 32" model is recommended based on his size.
Tyler
Which bat has a better weight distribution, that will result in faster bat speed, the 2013 Rip-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR, or the DeMarini CF5? Tigers
Both the Rip-It Prototype Air and DeMarini CF5 bats are balanced. Based on our stats, neither is known to be more balanced than the other.
Tyler
I'm 6'4 250 and I have the Prototype II in a 33-30 , but with the more balanced swing weight, do you recommend me going to a 34-31 or staying the same? Baker
Based on your size, a 34" models is recommended. If you are considering a more balanced bat like the Prototype Air, then a move to a 34" 31 oz. bat would be recommended.
Tyler
Overall with all the reviews, specs, and price, which bat would you say is better, the Marucci Black 2, or the Rip It Prototype Air? What are the makers and breakers of buying these bats? Andrew
Both the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR and the Marucci Black 2 are very comparable in swing weight, performance, and durability. Some differences would be the Marucci Black 2 comes with a composite handle and alloy barrel and the Rip-It is a one-piece full alloy. Another difference is the "Love It or Return It" guarantee that Rip It offers on their bats. You have 30-days to use the bat and decide if you want to keep it, or return it for a full refund.
Justin R.
I'm 15, freshman, played baseball 11 years, 5'9.5 and 173. I'm a hard line-drive hitter and a pull hitter. Any length/weight suggestions or maybe a different bat? justmeLOL
Based on your size, a 33" model of the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A is recommended.
Noah
What are the differences between this the Demarini CF5 and the Marucci Elite? Eli

Frank
Whats the difference between Prototype Air and the XL1? Beast
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR is a balanced, one-piece constructed, alloy bat. The 2013 Easton XL1 BBCOR: BB13X1 is an end loaded, two-piece constructed, composite bat.
Kevin
Is the "Love it or Return it" money back guarantee something where if you return the bat, you have to buy another product of theirs, or can you buy a different brand? Also, if I am about 5 ft 8.5 in., 125 lbs. What is the best drop ratio for a BBCOR? linedrive16
The 30-Day "Love It or Return It" program offered by RIP-IT allows you to send the bat to them for a full refund without having to buy another one of their products. All Adult BBCOR bats have a -3 length to weight ratio. For help with bat sizing, our Bat Coach is a great tool: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Derek H.
I see several comments on the bat is that it is losing the paint easily. What is the cause of this? And with excessive paint chips quicker than normal wear/tear, what is the return policy for a new one? JB
We are not sure why the paint would chip quickly on the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat. However, paint chips would not alter the bat's performance. RIP-IT has a 30-Day Love It or Return It policy, so you can return it for a full refund if you don't like it. The Prototype also comes with a 400-day manufacturer's warranty against defects.
Derek H.

Tyler
I am a power hitter. Do you think I should buy the RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR or the DeMarini Voodoo? Are end loaded bats better for power hitters? Michael
Yes, end loaded bats are preferred by power hitters. The DeMarini Voodoo will have a slight end load, while the RIP-IT Prototype Air will be more balanced.
Damon
Last season I used the Marucci Black and the black paint chipped off so badly you couldn't read the barrel. Does the black finish of the Air chip off like it did on the Marucci? I understand chipping doesnt affect performance but can affect playability. Are chipped bats covered under warranty? baseballjunkie
We haven't had any reports of paint chipping in the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A. Paint chipping is covered under the manufacturer's warranty, however you only get to use the warranty once.
Kevin

The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is a great one-piece bat preferred by both power hitters and contact hitters.
Marcus
I'm going to buy either the 5150 Velo or the Prototype Air. I don't have a lot of power, I'm just good at hitting line drives. Which would you recommend? Brett
Both the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat and the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat are one-piece alloy designs with very balanced swing weights. Both models are great options for a contact hitter. Here is a link for further comparison http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Aubrey
What bat is more balanced? The DeMarini CF5 or the RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR? tl
Both bats are very balanced, but the DeMarini CF5 will feel a little more balanced than the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult.
Frank
My son is 13, 5'10" tall and 155 lbs. He used a Marucci Black 32/29 last season. Would you recommend another BBCOR bat or a -5 or -8 bat? He plays most games in a league that BBCOR is not required. He likes the Rip It and Easton S3. Drew
It's never recommended that a player move down in weight from their previous bat. And it's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. I would strongly recommend the Marucci Black 2 since he has previously use the Marucci Black.
Tyler
Please I need a definite answer. I am between this bat and the Rawlings VELO. I have already done the bat comparison and I am not sure what to do. For a contact hitter with occasional power, which is the better bat? Zach
Both are great alloy bats. The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult and 2013 Rawlings VELO will have very similar swing weights. The Rawlings VELO claims to have a lower M.O.I. than any competitor, making it a more balanced bat. Other than that, you can not go wrong with either bat.
Frank
What is the "Love It or Return It" program and what has to be done if one were to want to return it? Zach
If for any reason within 30 days, you don't like the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat, you can return your bat to RIP-IT for a refund or exchange. Just make sure to save your receipt.
Kevin
Is this bat legal for use in junior division, 13 and 14 year olds? Rey
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR is legal for use in the Junior Division. Keep in mind that because of the BBCOR rating you will lose pop but a heavier bat will get him used to swinging a heavier bat for High School.
Chad M.
If my son doesn't like the bat does he send it back to Just Bats or the manufacturer? Who pays the shipping for returns? Dr Swing

Mac
Does the Rawlings 5150 have more pop? People
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A and the Rawlings 5150 BBCOR will have similar pop, as they are both BBCOR certified. Both are very balanced, one-piece alloy bats.
Mac
Would this bat be good for a just moved up to JR Little League level, 5'7", 125 lbs. He is a whack-the-ball-and-get-on-first type hitter. Not sure if it is "contact" or just effective. What length should I get? Mom_obviously
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is a great bat for contact hitting and should augment your son's swing nicely. Since he is in JR Little League, he is not required to have a BBCOR bat if said bat doesn't have a composite barrel.

It seems reading all the Q&As that the two-piece Marucci Black or Black 2 would be more suited to contact/line-drive hitters vs. Rip-It one-piece (more for power hitters). What advantage does the two-piece technology bring? My son is 5'10" 135lb and is a spray line-drive hitter. He uses the 2012 Rip-it Prototype II but it seems to end loaded. What would be a better choice for a spray line-drive hitter? Eric
A two-piece bat will offer more flex through the hitting zone, that translates in to more "whipping" action which will benefit a hitter with average to below average swing speed. Twp-piece bats often do a better job of reducing sting and vibration as well. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. However, since your son is more of a contact hitter and felt the Prototype II was too endloaded, then a more balanced two-piece bat like the Marucci Black or Black 2 would be a great option.
Tyler

Noah
Should I invest in the new 2014 Air or get this with the lower price point? What are the main differences between them? weballin
They did not change the design of the 2014 RIP-IT BBCOR AIR much at all. They put a new R2 Alloy in the 2014, which is supposed to be more responsive, but it will still be very similar in performance.
Noah
How would you compare Rawlings VELO (gray-ish color) to RIP-IT Prototype AIR BBCOR (either 2013 or 2014) for swing weight and performance? I think I read 2014 Air is slightly more end loaded than 2013. Rod

My 14 yr old son is 5'2" 115 lbs. This will be his last year to use no lighter than a -8 bat. He tried a 31" -3 in cage and seemed to swing it fine driving ball well. I hate to buy a new bat for 15 games. What do you recommend? Thanks, JW. JW

Likes look & feel of Rip It but we're confused by different models/model year. Or should he stay Easton or go Voodoo? Doesn't have to go bbcor for another year if drop 5 makes more sense. Help! Phatdaddy
If the coaches want him hitter for more power I would stick with the Easton XL1 or the DeMarini Voodoo Overlord as they are end loaded and better designed for power hitters.
Damon

Kyle
Would you recommend the 2014 RIP-IT bats or the 2014 Easton bats? glassman18
The 2014 RIP-IT bat line offers great bats like the RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR (B1303A). RIP-IT features a 30 Day Love It or Return It performance guarantee. If you don't love your new BBCOR AIR, simply send it back to RIP-IT within 30 days for a full refund. With 2014 Easton bat line up they feature bats for every type of hitter out there. The Easton "S" series works well with contact hitters and the Easton "XL" series has an end-loaded design that suits power hitters. Or if you want something that has the best of bother worlds they have the Easton Mako (BB14MK). RIP-IT and Easton brand both make terrific bats, the decision really comes down to personal preference.
Zach
I swung my Rip It BBCOR Air during my last game and the end cap broke and flew off. My bat is still under warranty and their website says they replace all end cap issues. I submitted for a replacement and have shipped it. Will I get the 2013 model or the 2014 model of the bat? leppant15
Whether you get the 2013 or 2014 model of the RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR Baseball Bat (B1303A) (B1403A) would be based on the inventory Rip-It has in stock. Most times, if they do not have a 2013 model left, they will send a newer one.
