Rip-It corrected the endcap issue on the Prototype midway through their production process last year. The latter half of the 2012 line and the 2013 line do not have the same endcap issues.

The recommended bat length would be 29 inches long. As far as weight is concerned it would depend upon what the league you play in allows. Any BBCOR approved bat for high school would be a drop 3 which would make the weight 26 ounces.

I had the RIP-IT Prototype 2 and many of my teammates and I had problems with durability. When the bat was fresh it was amazing but pretty early in the season the pop started to decrease and nearly all of us got dents in the same place, right where the barrel starts transitioning to the handle. All are balanced bats. However, I feel the original Marucci Black was a little more well balanced than the Black 2. To me, the Rip-It Prototype Air is somewhere between the original Marucci Black and the Marucci Black 2 in terms of balance. Again though, all are balanced.

Likes look & feel of Rip It but we're confused by different models/model year. Or should he stay Easton or go Voodoo? Doesn't have to go bbcor for another year if drop 5 makes more sense. Help! The RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR bat is a one piece alloy design. Where as the 2014 RIP-IT BBCOR AIR Elite is a two piece bat with a Composite Handle and Alloy Barrel.
