Pros: It is a very well-balanced bat and almost corrects your mechanics for you when you swing it. It is modeled after the CU 26 wood bat, so it has a different look to it than most metal bats. It has decent pop and is right there with most other BBCOR bats. I have been hitting somewhere around .350 with this bat.

Cons: Mine dented in two places near in between the TEAM and M of Marucci. I got it to replace my Cat 5^2 and I don't know if the bat was weakened from trying to mass produce them so quickly or not. I know its my own fault for not hitting it on the barrel, but I still don't think it should've dented with less than a month of use. It does not have the loud "PING" sound the Cat 5^2 had which I miss, but others might not.

Pros: Got this as an upgrade from CAT5 for my 13yr old. Opened the box on Sunday AM hit the cage before double header. First pitch first hit 330' Left Center. Marucci you have done it again. Nicely balanced bat with good pop. No ping like the CAT5. The ball moves off this bat. It really feels like a wood bat.

Cons: Don't know what to do with all these DeMarini's sitting around the house.

Pros: Good looking bat with a lot of power

Cons: Poor construction. The bat dented the first time I used it in a game. Tried to get a full refund from Marucci and they sent me a new bat after my regular season was already done. No need for metal now it's all wood this summer so trying to sell the new bat they sent me. This is after they replaced my Cat 5 with this one. They need to go back to the drawing board. Will see how it goes after a full season.

Pros: Great balanced, I was skeptical when I bought this because I was thinking it wasn't gonna be as good as the cat 5 but I was wrong. They are essentially the same bat, only difference is it doesn't have the same loud PING! as the cat 5 but still you can hit just as great with this bat as you guys probably did with the cat 5.

Pros: Great Balance has good pop for a BBCOR bat, and a good size sweet spot. Even when you don't hit the ball in the sweet spot the ball still goes flying. Almost no vibration/sting. Great BBCOR bat, it is the best I have used. My rankings from the ones I have used 1. Marucci Team 2. Easton XL3 3. TPX Exogrid 4. TPX Z1000 5. Rip-it Protoype 2 (TERRIBLE BAT, those are just the only bat's I've tried, I'm sure if I tried more they would be higher on the list.

Its Ok Beto Perez player

Pros: Great pop, no vibration, and the bat is somewhat top heavy so if you get it through the zone it helps finish your swing and launches the ball.

Cons: Since the bat is top heavy, if you dont get it through the zone quick enough (which is very easy to do with this bat) you will definitely get jammed. Also because of the white paint job balls will leave a mark on this bat and the grip is very easy to get dirty.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Marucci Team BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBT Black? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I'm and 8th grader and about 5'4'' and 125 lbs. and wanting to upgrade from a 31 in. 28 oz. Easton Hammer. Would this be a good upgrade? Q7mustard
The Marucci Team would definitely be a great bat to upgrade to. The Team is a full alloy bat like the Hammer and you shouldn't have any problems switching to this bat!
Jennifer
Would it be too heavy, in your opinion, for a 13 year old who is 5'3 and 100 pounds? pcbaseball5
Based on that height and weight, a 29" bat is recommended. Since the smallest size we currently have available is a 31" 28oz, these sizes will probably be too large for you. However, if you feel like you can swing a 31" bat, then I say go for it! It shouldn't hurt anything.
Jennifer
Where is it made? Tim
Marucci's headquarters is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. However, the Marucci Team model is made overseas.
John
Is there a break-in period? If so, how long? Dat dude
Since the Marucci Team BBCOR bat is an all alloy bat, there will not be a break-in period required. Only composite barrel bats will require a break-in.
Jennifer
Is this bat BBCOR certified? Skipper
The Marucci Team BBCOR is BBCOR certified and legal for use in high school and collegiate level play.
Jennifer
Is this approved for high school play? BO
Absolutely! The Marucci Team is BBCOR certified and is legal for play in high school and collegiate levels.
Jennifer
Is this bat approved for NCAA play? Austin Hillbilly
Yes it is. This Marucci Team bat is BBCOR certified and legal for NCAA play.
Tyler
Does this have a -3 drop weight? The Question Asker
The Marucci Team does in fact have a -3 drop. All adult BBCOR bats will have a -3 drop.
Jennifer
Do you think this bat will get banned like the Cat 5? Royals Fan
I do not think the Marucci Team BBCOR bat will get banned like the 33" Marucci CAT 5. The 33" 30 oz. CAT 5 was the only size that was decertified. Marucci has since done a great job of testing their bats to make sure they are legal for play at the different levels. If the Marucci Team does lose its BBCOR certification, the NCAA and NFHS will be the governing bodies that make this ruling.
Austin
How does this bat differ from the Cat 5 Squared BBCOR? Is it better? c chop
The Marucci Team is very comparable to the Marucci CAT 5 and designed with the same high end alloy as the Cat 5. Both have excellent pop and performance.
Kara
Is this a BBCOR bat? Hondo
The Marucci Team BBCOR does meet the BBCOR certifications and is approved for play at the high school and collegiate level.
Jennifer
Is this a one-piece or two-piece bat? Jeremy
The Marucci Team is a one-piece all alloy bat. A bat like the Marucci Team is great for power hitters.
Jennifer
Is this bat alloy or composite? Bradley
The Marucci Team is a one-piece fully alloy design. There is no composite material anywhere in the bat.
Jennifer
Does this bat have the USSSA stamp on the bat? Derek
The Marucci Team BBCOR does not have the USSSA stamp. Adult bats are not stamped with the USSSA approval as they are BBCOR certified and do not have to feature the USSSA stamp. The Marucci Team is offered in a Senior League model that does feature the USSSA stamp.
Jennifer
Is this bat college approved? Stonum
The Marucci Team is BBCOR certified and is legal for high school or collegiate level play.
Jennifer
Does this bat have a balanced or end loaded feel? A.J.
The weight in the Marucci Team is evenly distributed. This gives the bat a very balanced feel.
Jennifer
What is the drop of this bat? Patrick
Since the Marucci Team is an adult BBCOR bat, it will have a -3 drop. All adult bats have a -3 drop.
Jennifer
Does this bat come in a 33/30? Collins
The Marucci Team is available in a 33/30. Our website shows all sizes we have available and that are ready to ship.
Jennifer
How long is the break-in period for this bat? Tony
Since the Marucci Team does not have a composite barrel, there is no break-in period required. This bat will be hot right out of the wrapper!
Jennifer
What is the difference between the colors of the bats? Ryan
The Marucci Team bats are the same design and construction, except one is blue, one is red, one is orange, one is green, and one is black.
Tyler
For the money, is the Marucci Team series just as good as the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo? Jo
That depends on who you ask. The Marucci Team bats are stiff, one-piece bats. The DeMarini Voodoo is a two-piece bat with more flex. Both are high performing bats, just depends on whether you prefer a two-piece or one-piece bat.
Tyler
Would you recommend the CAT 5, Marucci Black, or Marucci Team based on pop? I am a power hitter. Jacob
All are great bats with very good pop. The CAT 5 and Team models are one-piece bats that often benefit power hitters. The CAT 5 was one of the highest performing BBCOR bats on the market, but it has been discontinued and we no longer have any in stock. I think the Team bat is comparable to the CAT 5, but it will be hard to match the CAT 5's performance. If you prefer a one-piece bat, go with the Team, if you have traditionally used two-piece bats with success, go with the Marucci Black.
Jennifer
How does this compare to the Marucci Black? Aaron Foxie
The Marucci Team BBCOR will be stiffer than the Marucci Black because it is a one-piece bat. Both are very high performing.
Kara
For an average on base hitter with good power, would this or the Marucci Black be a better bat for me to use? BaseballGuy
The Marucci Team bats are a one-piece alloy design made more for power hitters. The Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid design that has more flex when swung; designed more for a contact hitter.
Derek
How does the Marucci Team compare to the Marucci CAT 5? Andy
The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT-B Adult bat is Marucci's 2013 one-piece alloy model that replaced the Marucci CAT 5. The Marucci Team bat is BBCOR certified and legal for play in NCAA and NFHS sanctioned events.
Kara
Is this Team bat BBCOR certified? Baseball Mom
Yes, the Marucci Team is BBCOR certified and legal for high school or collegiate level play.
Jennifer
Do you have the Marucci Team bats in stock? Trevor
Yes, we currently have the Marucci Team bats available in the colors available on our website. We run a live inventory on our site, so if we sell out of a certain size, we will remove that item from our site.
K.B.
Is this a one-piece bat? Dave
Yes, the Marucci Team is a one-piece all alloy bat. A bat like the Team would be a great option for a power hitter!
Jennifer
What is better, the Marucci Team or the Marucci Black? Rick
Both, the Marucci Black and the Marucci Team are great bats. Determining which one is better is difficult and is really dependent on the type of hitter you are. If you are more of a power hitter, the Team would probably be the best option for you because it is a one-piece ally. However, if you are more of a contact hitter, then the two-piece hybrid design of the Black would probably better suit your needs.
Jennifer
What is the drop weight on this bat? Eric
The Marucci Team BBCOR is an adult BBCOR bat with a -3 drop. All adult bats will have a -3 drop.
Jennifer
Is this bat legal for high school and college ball? Alberto
The Marucci Team is BBCOR approved and is legal for use in high school and collegiate level play.
Jennifer
Is the Team end loaded or balanced? Casey
The weight in the Marucci Team is evenly distributed. This gives the bat a balanced feel.
Jennifer
What is the difference between the red, black, blue, orange, and green Team bats? Ryan
There are not any differences among the red, black, blue, orange, or green Marucci Team bats. They are just different colors to help give players a variety of colors to choose from.
Jennifer
I am a sophomore in high school who hits for power. What should I get, the Marucci Team or the Marucci Black? Zach
If you are a power hitter then the Marucci Team would be a great choice for you! The Marucci Black is a great bat, but the two-piece design of this bat is usually better suited for contact hitters.
Jennifer
Why is the Marucci Team $100 less than the Marucci Black? Zac
The Marucci Team and Marucci Black are two completely different bat designs, hence the price difference. The Team is a one-piece alloy and the Black is a two-piece hybrid with an alloy barrel and composite handle.
Derek H.
Which bat is more even weight, the CAT 5 or the Team? Sarge
The CAT5 and the Marucci Team both have balanced swing weights and have a very similar feel.
Ryan
Why are one piece bats for power hitter and why are two piece bats for contact hitters? jo
Power hitters typically like the more stiff feel that a one piece bat designs possible due to their strength level. Contact hitters sometimes prefer bats that have a more flexible feel on contact.
Shelbe
is this bat the same as the cat 5 bbcor joey
The Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT is the bat that has replaced the Cat 5. It is a one-piece alloy just like the Cat 5, but it has some updated features.

I am a power hitter who gets his power from strength and bat speed i have used the rival in the past and love it would u recommend the marrucci team? nickel
In terms of construction the Rival and the Team series are similar, so if you liked the Rival the Team Series should fit your needs. You can contact our customer service at 1-866-321-2287 for any suggestions on other one piece aluminum bats.
Shelbe
How much pop does this bat have and is it good for a contact hitter? robster
The Marucci Team BBCOR would work great for a contact hitter. It is made of high performing AZ3000 alloy which gives the bat great pop.
Tom
Which bat would you recommend for a contact hitter? The Marucci Team 2012 or the DeMarini Voodoo 2011? robster
The Marucci Team 2012 is going to be more balanced than the DeMarini Voodoo for a contact hitter, so I would recommend the Marucci.
Damon
Would you recommend this to a power hitter? Awesome
The Marucci Team BBCOR would be an excellent choice for a power hitter.
Kara
I am a 5'7" 13 year old who is a power hitter. I am 150 pounds and was wondering if I should get -5 cat 5 or a -3 marucci team? Baseball playa
That all depends on what size bat you are currently using and if you have ever swung a -3 bat before. Both are great bats, but I would recommend swinging both a -5 and -3 bat side by side to get a better idea of your swing speed and bat control with each size.
Tyler
Does this bat have a good sweet spot? Would you recommend it to a more contact or power hitter? Cooliest
Yes, the Marucci Team BBCOR has a large sweet spot and features Marucci's high performing AZ3000 alloy. This bat would be a great fit for both a contact and power hitter.
Tom
Is this bat good for getting around fast on the ball? A.J.
That really depends on the strength and swing speed of the player, but the Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Black/White Adult bat is balanced with an average swing weight.
Tyler

It is not recommended to use the yellow dimpled balls that are used in some batting cages with any bat we sell. Structural damage, decreased performance, and decreased lifespan can occur if the bat is used with unintended products. Also, damage caused by these balls could void the manufacturers warranty in some cases.

The hybrid design in the Marucci Black 2 will be very fitting for your style of play. The balanced swing weight will also make it very easy to generate good bat speed. This particular model will incorporate an extended barrel, and will produce a larger sweet spot. This bat is perfect for hitters who are contact, but can also produce some good pop.

The performance of the Marucci Team BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBT) and the Louisville Slugger Assault BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBAS14-RR) are both regulated by BBCOR standards so one will not simply outperform the other. They are also similarly balanced so preference between the two would come down to brand preference ultimately.

How does this model compare to the RIP-IT Prototype? T
The Marucci Team BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBT Black) will feature a one piece full alloy design with a balanced swing weight. The RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR Baseball Bat (B1403) will feature a one piece full alloy with an end loaded swing weight. Typically, we would recommend the Prototype for more of a power oriented hitter. However, since it does come with a 30 day trial period, you could try the RIP-IT and then return it for another model.
