Description

New for What happens when science meets psychosis? A chaotic design, chaotic speed, chaotic power... nd total anarchy! The new CF5 uses all new technology to produce a finished product that can do some serious destruction on the diamond! Constructing the CF5 using their new TR3 F.L.O. Composite, DeMarini has successfully created their lightest swinging bat yet. TR3 F.L.O. (which stands for Fused Layer Optimized) is a cutting edge material that is the result of the random and naturally chaotic fusing of carbon fibers. This creates a more compact carbon that enables DeMarini to make the new CF5 lighter and stronger than ever before. The stronger design allows for more even weight distribution, which in turn produces faster bat speeds! This two-piece fully composite design uses Doublewall technology to give it maximum trampoline effect with the largest sweetspot possible! DeMarini's Half and Half two-piece technology makes YOU stronger by silencing feedback on off-center hits and creating the largest, most responsive sweetspot by flexing before impact and recoiling with a burst of ball-launching energy! The CF5 also features a Geo End Cap that's focus is on keeping the barrel stiff and not letting energy escape through the end of the bat. This gives each and every hit an extra blast of energy. DeMarini: Born Hardcore! The CF5 is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Pony, Dixie, AABC, and USSSA. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Great pop, best bat my son has hit since the Combat B1. He had been using the new Voodoo, which is a great bat but this bat has so much more pop. He hit a ball over 240 feet on the first day used.

Cons: Break in period. I hit about 350 balls off a tee at about a 40% to help break it in before he used it in a game.

Pros: Just bought a 31/20 2013 CF5 for my 11 year old son. He absolutely loves it. More pop than his 30/18 Easton S1, and built better too. His Easton S1 had the end label fall off repeatedly until I glued it on with epoxy. DeMarini = Made in America Easton = Made in China

Pros: Great bat. Little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Make sure you break the bat in for best results. I hit over 200 balls before bat starting hitting to it's full potential. I had the Easton S1 bat 28/16 oz and this bat has outperformed the Easton. Just don't think you can take bat out of box and start hitting homers. Breaking the bat in correctly is the key to getting the full potential out of this bat.

Cons: None! One of the best bats ever.

Pros: My 12 yo who has been a little-league all-star the past two years and also plays pony has used a few pricey bats over the past years. An Omen XL, a Voodoo, a techzilla and last year's CF5 hae all served well. This bat blows them all out of the water. The managers of both our current teams, plus the batting instructor at the local cages, not top mention everyone else on the team are amazed at the pop and the balance and easy swing of this bat. You will be as well.

Cons: Price! Weighs 21.2 ozs NOT 20 as advertised!!! We knew it weighed more than claimed ahead of time and wanted that weight. Heavier can be good, and we bought this on purpose. BUT DeMarini should not publish a -11 on a -10/-9.5 bat!!! For some this may matter...

Pros: Looks great. Paint job is nice. The grip is very sticky which improves slipping when swinging. The sound when you hit the ball on the sweet spot lets you know you got a hold of the ball. Ripped a 2 RBI double first time up at the plate.

Cons: You have to get used to the different sweet spot as it is with any bat. Barrel gets marked up very easily. Also, the end cap, as it is with being white, turned brown the first game with it. Paint also chipped on the lower barrel handle. But those are things that don't effect your hitting so overall it's an amazing bat. I highly recommend this from a serious baseball player in a serious league.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini CF5 Youth Baseball Bat: DXCFL? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does it have any pop? attractiver3x
Yes. The CF5 has very good pop.
Tyler
Is this one better than the gold CF5 because my friend is wondering what one he should get? dirtbag44
The main difference between the 2012 DeMarini CF5 and 2013 DeMarini CF5 is the switch from TR3 STRUT Composite to TR3 F.L.O Composite which allows the 2013 model to have a lighter swing weight and be a stronger material.
Nick
Is this bat more balanced than the 2012 CF5? baseballman
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 will feel more balanced than the 2012 CF5. The 2013 DeMarini CF5 will have an "insanely balanced swing weight".
Jennifer
I am interested in bat but have a concern. Though it states that this bat is approved for little league and has 1.15bpf stamp, why is it not included in the official Little League approved composite listing as of April 4,2012 and states that manufacturer must submit complete testing data before it is to be considered approved through its listings. The 2012 modelCF5 is on there but not the recent 2013 modelCF5??? Curious? certain
The 2013 CF5 will be on Little League's approved composite bat list shortly. This process does take some time though as a lot of paperwork has to be filed. Look for an updated list very soon!
Tyler
What is the break in time for this bat? bball1794
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 will require about a 150- 200 hits off of soft toss or a tee. I would start out at about 50% swing and work your way up to full swing. Make sure you rotate the bat in between each hit about a quarter inch to break in the bat evenly.
Nick
Does this bat require a break-in? if so how many hits? coach
Since the 2013 DeMarini CF5 is a full composite bat, it will require a break-in. We recommend taking between 150-200 hits either off of a tee or soft toss, starting at about 40% power and increasing the closer you get to the 200 hit mark. Also, make sure you rotate the barrel in between each hit and use the same balls you would normally use in a game.
Jennifer
My son wants this bat for his birthday, which is in May. I don't want to buy it if it is not approved to use. Any idea when the approval might go through? deb
According to the Little League website the 2013 DeMarini CF5 is legal for 2012. A complete list can be found at http://www.littleleague.org/Assets/forms_pubs/2012LicensedBatList.pdf.
Kara
My son is 4'8" and 68 lbs. Is the CF5 or the Combat Pure Gear one-piece design better? Matty Fire
Both bats are great bats. Determining which is better would depend on what type of hitter your son is. If he is more of a power hitter, then the COMBAT Pure Gear would probably be the better choice for him. However, if he is more of a contact hitter the two-piece design of the CF5 would probably better suit his needs.
Jennifer
I am a power hitter should I use this bat? If not do you have any recommendations. SON
This would be an excellent bat to use.
John
Does this bat need a break-in period? dad
Since the 2013 DeMarini CF5 is an all composite bat, it will require a break-in. All bats with composite barrels will require a break-in.
Jennifer
Hey Guys, Just needing to be sure that this bat is approved for Cal Ripken Majors. J
Yes. The DXCFL is approved for the Cal Ripken Division.
Tyler
I have heard that the higher end Demarini bats are actually 2-3 ounces heavier than advertised. Is this true? Xavier
Bats will sometimes be a little heavier than actually advertised. Manufacturers weigh bats before applying top coat, paint, etc, so these added layers can add a little extra weight.
Jennifer
My son is 9 and has been swinging the 30/17 2021 Voodoo for a year. He is 4"6 and 90 lbs and hits for power. Would like to try a composite bat, either the new CF5 or XL1 or XL2. Any thoughts? I would prefer not to go any higher than 19 ounces, especially if the bat weighs more than advertised... JW
If you want a composite bat, that rules out the XL2 as it has an alloy barrel. The biggest difference between the CF5 and XL1 is that the XL1 will have a slightly more end loaded feel. If your son has quick bat speed and above average strength, then the XL1 would be a great choice. If not, the the CF5 would be the way to go.
Tyler

John
What is the difference between the demarini 2013 cf5 youth bat, and the demarini 2012 cf5 youth bat? cam
The main differences between the 2012 and the 2013 CF5 bats is that the 2013 upgraded the composite material and the 2013 is going to be more of a balanced feeling bat where as the 2012 is going to have a slight end loaded feel
Sean
Is this one better than the regular CF5? I have the tan CF5 and its working good but it's not my favorite. How many hits does this bat need until its broken in? Does the tan CF5 and this one make a difference? cf5 king
Both the 2013 DeMarini CF5 and the DeMarini CF4 are excellent bats. The 2013 DeMarini CF5 uses new composite technology for better performance and a more balanced feel. Normal break in time is 100-200 swings.
Kara
Is the new CF5 more like the grey CF4 or the gold CF5? Mac
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is going to be very similar to both the DeMarini CF4 and 2012 DeMarini CF5. The 2013 CF5 uses an upgraded composite material to improve performance and durability.
Nick
How do you compare this bat to the Easton S1? David

The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is approved for Little League play. The CF5 also features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp.
Nick
Which is better Easton XL1 Youth or 2013 DeMarini CF5 Youth? t-man
It depends on what kind hitter you are. Both are two piece composites. The XL1 is designed more for a power hitter, whereas the CF5 is balanced and would benefit a contact/line drive hitter.
Damon
Is the 2013 DeMarini CF5 full composite or half and half? mattcardshark
The CF5 is a two piece, full composite bat.
Tyler
I just got this bat and I was wondering how many hits does it take to get the bat broken in? Also, is it okay to hit those yellow balls in batting cages? Jared
It will take around 150 hits to break in the CF5. We do not recommend you use the CF5 in the cages with yellow dimpled. Those balls can be very dense and are known to cause damage to all kinds of bats.
Tyler
Is this bat legal for 2013-2014? Lefty
The DeMarini CF5 is Little League approved for this year and the following years. The CF5 does feature the new USSSA thumbprint stamp on the taper which is going to be required for USSSA play in 2013-2014 play.
John
Is there any difference between the 2013 and 2012 CF5s besides the art designs? tatertot

Kara

What size do you reccommend for my 11 yr old son? He is 5'6" 120 pounds. I am looking towards his 12 year old year. He currently uses a 31 -9 and a 31 -11.5 and smashes balls, but he says he needs a longer bat. Is this available in a 32 -11? dnt
According to our Bat Coach, a 31" bat is recommended. If he feels he is strong enough to move up to a 32", then that size would work as well. The DeMarini CF5 is manufactured in a 32" -11, but we are currently out of stock. We will be getting more in a couple of weeks.
Nick K.
Is this bat single or double barrel? Sean
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL is a single barrel multi-layer composite bat.
Tom
What is the weight of the 32"? Lori
The 2013 Demarini CF5 has a length to weight ratio of -11. The DCXFL in a 32 inch will weigh 21 ounces.
Shelbe
How do you "break in" a composite bat? when
We recommend between 150-200 hits off a tee. Start at about 40% power and gradually increase. Be sure to rotate the bats a quarter of a turn between every few hits to ensure an even break-in.
Tyler
What bat is better 2013 CF5 or Easton S1? nick
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 and Easton S1 are both high quality and high performing bats. They both have a lot of pop. You can't go wrong with either one.
Nick K.
Are they Little League approved and 1.15? Izz
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is Little League approved and has a 1.15 BPF.
Kara
What size for an 11 yr old who weighs approx 90 lbs? Thanks. rbk35
The size of the bat depends on several factors. We recommend using our bat coach for correct sizing; http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Kara
How does the 2013 CF5 Fastpitch softball bat differ from the 2012 model? What are the differences? Which is a better bat for a line drive hitter? Remdawgs
Both models will be great for a line drive hitter. The 2013 DeMarini CF5 uses new TR3 F.L.O. Composite material, whereas the 2012 DeMarini CF5 uses TR3 Strut Composite. Here is a link to further compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
Would going down barrel size from 2 5/8 to 2 1/4 be a good or bad idea? And I'm 12, 5' and 85 lbs. I used to use a 30/20 Rawlings 5150. And want a 32/21. Kid
If you need to increase your bat speed, going to a 2 1/4" barrel would be a good idea.
Kara
Is the TR3 F.L.O. Composite a lot better than the TR3 Strut Composite or are they similar? Dawg
The TR3 F.L.O. Composite and the TR3 Strut Composite are going to be very similar. The TR3 F.L.O. will swing lighter than the Strut.
Nick K.
How does this bat compare to the Easton S1: YB11S1 Youth? E
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 and the Easton S1 are both two-piece composite bats. They are top of the line bats and both are similar in feel and performance.
Kara
Interested in this bat but I don't see the model number on Little League approved bat list. Is it approved or in the process? DD
Yes, the DeMarini CF5: DXCFL is stamped approved for Little League play on the barrel and also features the newest USSSA stamp. Here is a link to view those certifications. http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-demarini-cf5--dxcfl-youth/15462/

If you are a power hitter with good strength and swing speed, I would recommend the XL1. It has a more end-loaded feel for stronger hitters looking to even more power to their hits.
Tyler
what is best to clean bat marks with? chippy
I always use Windex and a rag to remove ball marks from my bat. This has always been an effective method for me.
Tyler
JUST TO BE COMPLETELY CLEAR...IS THIS A BASEBALL BAT OR FASTPITCH SOFTBALL BAT? AJ
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL is a youth baseball bat.
Tyler
Will I damage my bat using it in the batting cage with the yellow baseballs? E
We recommend not to use composite bats in batting cages that use yellow dimpled baseballs. The balls are very dense and can damage the composite material.
Kara
Can you use this bat in traveling baseball and is it used by 11 and 12 year olds? cool
Yes, 11 and 12 year olds do use this in certain leagues. It is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA.
Tom
HOW DOES NEW CF5 COMPARE TO OLD CF4 WHICH MY TEAM LOVES ? 2011 CF5 WASN'T A BIG HIT WITH THE KIDS. PUGS
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 will be more balanced and have upgraded materials than the old CF4 and 2011 CF5.
Damon
Can I use a half and half with the yellow dimpled balls? JP
Bats that have composite barrels like the 2013 DeMarini CF5 should not be used in batting cages that use yellow dimpled balls.
Kara
Why do you recommend not using the composite bats in the batting cage where they use dimpled balls? My son is not a power hitter and I am looking to buy him a new bat. He is 11 and 51 inches tall and 60 pounds, with an average build. He is not a power hitter. Right now he is using a Easton Speed bat that is 28" and 16 oz. He is not hitting the ball very far. Lynn
The yellow dimple balls are more dense than regular baseballs and they can do damage to alloy and composite bats. The 2013 DeMarini CF5 would be a great choice for a contact hitter. It is light swinging and has a lot of pop.
Nick
Are the CF4 models still legal for 2013 Little League 9/10 year old play? Rob
According to the Little League website the CF4 models are legal in 2013; http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/licensedcompositebats.htm
Kara
This bat and the Easton S1 use a two-pice composite design. In terms of durability, how does this compare to a single piece design used by Combat, Rawlings, and Worth ? So in general, what is more durable...a two-piece composite or a single piece composite? john
Unfortunately, the gap has closed between one and two-piece bats and neither type of bat is proven to be more durable than the other. However, one-piece bats used to have more of an advantage in durability.
Tyler
Is this bat legal for little league ages 9/10 for the 2013 season? Nikki
Yes. The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL is approved for Little League.
Tyler
When do you turn the barrel of a DeMarini CF5 2012? dmurr
Ideally you want to turn the barrel of any composite barreled bat a 1/4" after each swing to ensure you aren't just using one side of the bat.
Tom
Is this bat Little League approved for 2013? GTK
Yes, the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat will have the appropriate stamps and markings for 2013 Little League play.
Brandon

The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth is approved in Cal Ripken baseball.
Kara
Im leadoff/ contact hitter but have an above eaverage swing speed. What bat would be better easton s1, easton xl1, demarini cf5, or demarini voodoo? And if all these bats were 30inch models could you please order them from lightest to heaviest. thanks Peter
The XL1 is the most endloaded and will be a great option for a player with above average swing speed and strength. In order from lightest to heaviest in a 30" model, it goes: 1)Voodoo - 30" 17 oz. 2)S1 - 30" 18 oz. 3)CF5 - 30" 19 oz. 4)XL1 - 30" 20 oz.
Tyler
My son currently using a 2010 DeMarini Voodoo which he swings well. He is primarily a gap to gap line drive hitter with above average swing speed. We've been looking at the Easton S1, XL1 and the CF5. Any advice would be appreciated. I am a little concerned about him going from a 28 -13 to a 29 -10 in the XL1. He is 9 years old and 85 lbs. pupini
The Easton XL1 is slightly end loaded and is better suited for a player with good swing speed. We would recommend the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL. It is a very balanced two-piece bat.
Kara
My son has the F2 29"13.5oz. Thinking about moving to 30" CF5. I'm really thinking about 30" Voodoo because of the drop 13 instead of drop 11 how are these bats weighted differently or are they? derek
A 30" CF5 will weigh 19 oz. A 30" Voodoo will weigh 17 oz. In terms of balance, the Voodoo will have a slightly more enloaded feel compared to the more balanced CF5.
Tyler
My son is 12 and weighs 80lbs. He is a contact hitter. Good swing, but not very powerful. I am thinking of buying him the 2013 Vexxum, CF5, Combat Reloaded, or Anderson Nanotek. 30 19 or 30 20. I would appreciate a recommendation? jolie
First, you need to determine what bat he has had used successfully in the past. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. If you let us know, we can offer a better recommendation.
Tyler
My younger son used his older brother's Combat B1 30" 20 oz. in this summers tournament and had great success. We want to buy him a little league compliant bat, and we are looking at the CF5 and the Combat Reloaded, assuming he should stick with the 30" drop 10. Any recommendations between the two bats or another? James
Based off of customer reviews the DeMarini CF5 has been a much better bat than the Comabt Reloaded. The CF5 is going to be much more balanced, and a perfect bat for a contact hitter.
Noah
My son is 11 and plays AAU and Little League. He's 4'9" and 71 lbs, and has power for his size. Would this bat, or the Easton S1 be better? He has swung both and liked the DeMarini better. Mark
Both the 2013 DeMarini CF5, and the 2013 Easton S1 are very high performing bats. Neither bat will be noticeably different than the other, but if he likes the CF5 more then the S1 you should go with the DeMarini.
Noah
I just purchased this bat for my son and wanted to know if it can be used in cold weather. Does it become more brittle? And will it become more likely to break. Thanks pupini
You just need to exercise caution and limit the amount of hits on the bat when using the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL in temperatures below 60 or 55 degrees. Cold weather hardens the core of the baseball and does not actually make the bat more brittle.
Tyler
Is this bat legal for Cal Ripkin 11 yr. olds (Majors)? tic919
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA. It has the new updated USSSA 1.15 BPF markings on the barrel. The bat will be a two-piece composite design. I would make sure you ask your coach or league official and see if composites are allowed.
Brandon
I am 12 years old 140 lbs and a power hitter would this bat be good for me? Aiden
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL is a top of the line two-piece composite bat with tremendous pop, making it a great choice for any type of hitter.
Tyler
If you're a power hitter would you recommend this bat or the Easton XL1? aiden
Both the 2013 DeMarini CF5 and the Easton XL1 will be great bats but the XL1 will have a more end loaded swing weight and is usually better suited for power hitters.
John H
what are the differences between the 2012 and 2013 cf5 bomber
The 2013 Demarini CF5 features the TR3 F.L.O. composite while the 2012 CF5 contains the TR3 Strut composite. The TR3 F.L.O. composite is made up of randomly fused fibers that creates a stronger and lighter composite material.
Mac
How long does this bat last? your mom
If it is properly cared for and used appropriately. The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat will typically last for a full season or two.
Robert
Why is the grip different? Why didn't you keep it the same as the 2012 CF5? Krowzz
We do not actually manufacture the bats here so I am not sure why they decided to change the handle. If you would like to contact DeMarini at 800-937-2287 they should be able to answer that a little better.
Noah
Why is this bat heavier than non-composite Demarini 30" 19oz? BatBoy
A 30" 19 oz. 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth is going to weigh the same as any other 30" 19 oz. bat.
Marcus
How long does it take to break a CF5 in? game mommy
With all of our composite bats, I recommend 150-200 soft toss hits with the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth, giving it a quarter turn rotation with every hit for even break in.
Kevin
My son is 115 lbs. and 5'5" and is playing high school ball in Minnesota. Can you recommend a length and weight that would work within the Minnesota state bat regulations? Swanny

My son is 8, 4' 2", and 65lbs. He was using some cheap Wal-Mart bat that was a 15oz. He's a contact hitter with great bat speed. I was wondering what DeMarini model and size would best suit his size? toby'sdad
You should get your son the DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth in a 28" 17oz. It will be a little jump for him, but not too much.
Noah
Would this bat work in cold weather? thue
We recommend you use the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth in temperatures above 55 degrees. If you use it in cold temperatures, it increases the chances on cracking.
Frank

I got this bat last year and have gotten about 500-600 hits in with it. My cousins like to play tennis baseball a lot and we do not have a lot of good bats to hit with. They wanted me to find out if I could hit tennis balls with the CF5 so I was just wondering if with this bat being composite, could I hit tennis balls with it? mikeymike
Yes, it is safe to hit tennis balls with the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL.
Tyler
My bat hurts every time I hit the ball, what do I do ? isaiahbaseball
If batting gloves aren't helping then it could have a manufacture defect. You could send it back to DeMarini. Let us know if you need your receipt and there number is 800-937-2287.

I'm 12 yrs old, 5"1", a power hitter, and my weight is 105 lbs. Would a 31 inch 20 oz. bat be good? littleleagueplayer

Aubrey
Is having the bat rolled better than breaking in the bat myself with 150-200 hits? mudcatt
For the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat and all other bats, we do not recommend rolling bats. We suggest going through the break-in process.
Robert
I'm 5'4" 120 pounds. Which would you recommend? The Demarini CF5 or Easton XL1? Baller
With the height and weight given we suggest a 31" bat. The DeMarini CF5 is a very balanced, light swinging bat which is more for a line drive, contact hitter. The Easton XL1 end-loaded, which is more for the power hitter. It will slow down your bat speed but add pop to your game.
Chad M.
Can I use this bat for softball ? becca .
I would not recommend using the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth for softball play.
Marcus
When will the 2014 model be available? Tony
The 2014 DeMarini CF6 will be released in the Fall of 2013.
Noah
My is using the 31/19 S1 Easton and it has helped him increase his bat speed. I feel comfortable now getting him into a power bat. What bat would you recommend 32/21 Comabt B4 or the CF5 DXCFL 32/21? Speed
I would recommend getting a two-piece fully composite design like the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat, as it is most comparable to the Easton S1.
Aubrey
Any word on how different the 2014 Demarini CF6 DXCFL is to the 2013 model? B4

Tyler
Can the 2013 DeMarini CF5 be used at batting cages that uses the green ball? nick
We recommend the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat only be used in batting cages that use real, leather covered baseballs.
Tyler
My son is currently swinging a Combat B3 Retro 29" 17 oz. He is a contact hitter with extremely fast hands. I wanted to add a little pop. He is 4'5" and 70 lbs. I just ordered the 2013 CF5 in 29" 18 oz. Did I make a wise choice or should I have bumped up to the 30" 19 oz.? JHo
Based on this height and weight we recommend a 29" 18 oz. 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth.
Kara
About how many hits will it take to break in the CF5 and what would be the best way to break it in? B pitts
I'd recommend about 150-200 soft toss hits giving the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth a 1/4 turn rotation every couple of hits for even break in.
Kevin
We are trying to choose a bat, 31" 20-21 oz., for our 11 year old Little League player who is a good line-drive hitter with power. Our top 3 priorities are, pop/power, longest sweet spot/barrel, and durable/long lasting. What do you recommend between the DeMarini Vexxum, Demarini CF5, Easton XL1, and Easton XL2? Drewski
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat is a very good bat for a player with these skill sets. The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat is very comparable to the DeMarini and may be a little more suited for a contact hitter with occasional power. This Easton XL1 or XL2 may be best suited for you, just depending on if you like a full composite bat or a hybrid bat with alloy barrel.
Robert
What is the BPF? Mayo
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat features a BPF of 1.15.
Aubrey
My son is 4'11 and weighs 65 lbs. Yes, he is a tall skinny kid! He is a great contact hitter, I'm just looking for something that will give him a a little more pop in his bat. What bat and size would you recommend? I feel he needs something around the 18 oz mark if possible. kcroyalsfan76
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" 19 oz. 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth.
Kara
What do you mean by flex and stiffness? Adian alvarado
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat will be a two-piece fully composite bat. The two-pieces during the swing will actually flex to provide you with better whipping action and helping you achieve better bat speed. Some power hitter's prefer a bat to be stiff. This bat will not be as stiff as some one-piece bat designs, but will provide a more stiff feel to the barrel piece.
Brandon
I'm deciding between the 2013 CF5 and 2014 Voodoo, which should I get? antonio
If you are more of a contact hitter get the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth and if you are more of a power hitter get the DeMarini Voodoo.

The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth features a 2 1/4" barrel diameter. It also has a standard length barrel which attributes to its very balanced swing weight.

A 29" in the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth bat is recommended for your size. So choosing between the 30" or 31," I would definitely go 30" 19 oz..

Mac

We have the 2013 DeMarini CF5 LE: DXCFL-LE Youth available in a 29" 18 oz. bat.
Noah
I'm 11, 4' 6", and 95 pounds. I'm a contact hitter and want more power on my hits. Which bat is better the 2014 Voodoo or the 2013 Voodoo? nick
The 2013 and 2014 Voodoo will both be very high performing bats, but the 2014 has a more stiffer feel, so if you want more flex you should try the 2013 Voodoo.

My son is 5 ft. tall and 130 lbs. I ordered him the 32 inch but am now starting to second guess myself. Do you think that will be ok? baseballmomwv
For someone the size of your son we would recommend a 31" bat in general, although you can certainly go up or down 1" depending on things like if he likes to choke up on the bat, how far he stands from the plate, how strong he is for his size, etc. There are many outside factors to consider when choosing a length, but in general we would recommend a 31" bat.
Kyle J.

Im 5 foot 3 and weigh 115 pounds. I am a power hitter. Would the Mako be a better bat for me than the CF5? lkoz_101
Both the DeMarini CF5 (DXCFL) and the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK) would be nice options for a hitter of your style. They will be very similar in that they are both two-piece composite designs that are high performing and both are -11 length to weight ratios. The main difference would be a slightly longer barrel and a more advanced connection point in the Mako.
Patrick

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
