Pros: Amazing pop!!!! Took it out of the wrapper before my tourney, hit a couple good base hits(first game). Second game leadoff 330ft line drive, second at bat line drive double, and third at bat 310ft shot. Im 5'10" 160lbs.

Cons: None

Pros: Absolutely amazing, bought this bat because Miken claimed better durability then the old Ultra 2 and I can vouch, at least for mine that it sure does. Have about 400 hits on it now and it's crazy hot, never swung a bat that compares to it, will literally smash liners out of the park, let a buddy use it who is used to swinging ASA bats and his exact words after he parked 2 of 3 of his first 3 hits were "wow you don't even have to try" Great Job Miken!

Cons: Has so much composite loose inside of the barrel it's starting to sound like a salt shaker but after 400 hits on a bat with this kind of performance what can you expect, I'm extremely happy with the performance I've got out of it.

Trainwreck

Pros: I'm just an old fart in 50+ "Senior Slowpitch", I just turned 57. I've had only "Miken's" for a game bat, been through 4 Black Ultra II's and just cracked My Red Ultra II Wednesday night! just bought a brand new black and its been dead, even after 200 hits at least? Everybody seems to be going to the Rebock End-Load? So I've been wondering when my hot Red went dead! Freaking out on how I'm gonna have a new game bat, so put my trust back in "Miken" and picked up a new "Ultra II Max-load 2-piece, White" . Took it in the wrapper to practice and had "Rockets" from the jump!! I'm on the verge of saying I got more "Pop" than my "Red" had at its "Hottest"!?? Can't wait to see what happens when it breaks in?

Cons: after 400 to 500 swings it shattered so it did last longer than one piece ultra

Super HOT & illegal in ASA & USSSA for a reason... 4xtra player

Pros: This is a great bat to use in Outlaw, unofficial Tournaments and HR derby's. If you use a 400+ compression or higher ball this ball will come off this bat like a rocket. My furthest hit EVER is with this bat... **I wont say how long the ball went because you wouldn't believe me but the game was video recorded**

Cons: There are durability issues but not to the point in which I could say that the bat is bad. This bat is strictly short term, high performance gear.

They will BREAK!!! Jon LaBeau player

Pros: Loved the pop, obviously because I have owned 3 of them in 2 years. No trouble with first one, however that changed this year. I am driving the ball well over 300 feet, not bad for a 155 pound shortstop. Ball jumps off the bat.

Cons: Well.. I now have broken 2 of these bats in one softball season. They cracked almost 3/4 of the way across- a DEEP crevice in the bat right on the sweet spot of the barrel. Obviously, something is amiss here. To have 2 of the same bats shatter in one season- just bought both this year!! Not happy at all about this.

Bam Rover player

Pros: I was using an old aluminum bat generally hitting hard line drives. It took about 100-150 hits to break it in and get the feel of it. The line drives increased in height and travels 50-75' farther and faster. My best shots were about 300'. Works best in warm weather 70 degrees and rising.

Cons: Cracked it after 2 seasons. Probably 700-800 hits after breaking it in

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SPU2M? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Which is hotter, for distance, the Miken Ultra II Maxload or the Miken Ultra II two- piece Maxload Senior bat? Randy
The 2014 Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2M Slow Pitch would have the same distance then the Miken II Maxload one-piece. It would be a preference between a one-piece being more of a stiffer feel and a two-piece would add bat speed.
Chad M.
I am 5' 7" and weigh 180. What weight should I use? What is the drop point of bat? Stinger
Finding the best weight in a slow pitch softball bat comes down to your personal preference, strength and swing speed as there are no accurate size charts for slow pitch softball bats. Based on your general size, I would recommend a 26 oz. or 27 oz. model as the 2014 Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2M is an endloaded bat best suited for stronger hitters with high swing speeds. The 34" 26 oz. is a -8, the 34" 27 oz. is a -7, the 34" 28 oz. is a -6, and the 34" 30 oz. is a -4.
Tyler
Is it ASA approved? johnbeav
The 2014 Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2M is only approved for play in SSUSA and other Senior Softball Associations.
Mac
What's the BPF rating? Atrover
The BPF rating on the 2014 Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2M Slow Pitch model is 1.21. This will be the bat performance factor.
Brandon
How is this bat improved over the 2013 model? Stid
The 2014 Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2M Slow Pitch bat has a two-piece composite design versus the one-piece design of the previous model of Ultra II Maxload. The two-piece design of the 2014 model will provide a little more trampoline effect for the player, but both bats contain the same composite and are BPF 1.21 certified for Senior Softball.
Mac
Our league only permits bats with the 2000 or 2004 ASA stamp, not the 2013 ASA stamp. Does this bat, or any others of yours, carry the older ASA stamp? Greg
The 2014 Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Softball (SPU2M) Slow Pitch bat will not feature an ASA stamp of any kind. We do carry the DeMarini F5 (DXSF5) Slow Pitch, the Easton Cyclone (SP13CY) Slow Pitch, and the Anderson NanoTek SP Omega (NANOSPO)Slow Pitch which would all feature the 2004 ASA stamp.
Patrick
Which bat is better for distance, this bat or the older Miken Ultra II bats? I'm on the fence about weight either 27 or 28 oz. Since this is a Maxload, should I definitely go for a 27 oz., or even a 26 oz.? Mordo
The 2014 Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Softball (SPU2M) uses newer technology for better performance and durability. The SPU2M has a 1/2 oz. end load. If you typically use a 28 oz. balanced bat, we recommend moving to a 27 oz. SPU2M.
Kara
What is the minimum temperature this bat can be safely used at without damaging the bat? JustMe
When using the 2014 Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Softball (SPU2M), Miken recommends not using a composite bat under temperatures of 55 degrees.
Kyle
Which is hotter: this bat or the Miken Big Cat Macenko Ultra II bat? Also, is one more durable than the other? Rick
The Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat (SPU2M) and the 2015 Miken Ultra II Big Cat Mike Macenko Endload SSUSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MMULT2) Senior are very comparable to each other. The main difference is that the Mike Macenko model will feature closer to a full ounce end load compared to the half ounce end load in the SPU2M. Both bats are measure to the same 1.21 BPF performance standard, so one will not outperform the other. Both bats have about the same durability as well.
Tessa
Was this bat designed for balls with COR of .44 or .52? Mike
The Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat (SPU2M) is not ASA certified so it was not designed specifically for either of those style of balls. It is designed to work with the balls used for SSUSA play which are regulated like this: A 12-inch ball with a COR of .44 and a compression rating of no more than 375 psi shall be used in men"s play. An 11-inch ball with a COR of .47 and a compression rating of no more than 525 psi shall be used in women"s play. It is important to note that these bats are made more for performance than durability so the harder the ball you use, the more likely it is to break.
Patrick
What is the break-in requirement for this bat? T-Man
With the Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SPU2M we suggest around 150 to 200 hits, starting off at about 50% power and gradually increase as your swing count rises. It is also important to rotate the bat about a 1/4 inch on every swing. This ensures that your bat gets evenly broken in.
Marcus
Miken discontined this bat (the white Ultra II maxload two-piece) a few years ago and I have been in mourning ever since. Where, besides on eBay, can I find any? Brian
Unfortunately with the Miken Ultra II Maxload Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SPU2M being discontinued, you would not be able to find one at a retailer and thus your best bet would be a used model listed on eBay.

About the Brand

During the past few years, serious softball players have looked to Miken Sports for bats that provide the highest levels of performance and durability. Our relentless focus on both technology and the demands of players has made Miken the most demanded line of softball bats today.

Although composites are the latest trend in softball bats, the technology has been the core of Miken's success since the company's inception. Miken pioneered the modern high-performance composite softball bat in 1998 and has pushed the limits with every model since. No other bat company has driven innovation as hard, and the results are indisputable. Look around. If a player is serious about softball, they are most likely swinging a Miken bat.

The success of Miken Sports has been driven by two forces - innovation and a passion for delivering what players demand. The results are obvious. Players have decided that composites are the future for bats, and no one does composite like Miken.
