Description

The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its second season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Scandium Alloy hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Personalize Your Power! The XL3 features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 12 Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Great bat Baseball observer coach

Pros: -9 end weighted, great transition bat for a larger power hitting kid as they mature. The bat is end weighted but not like swinging the sledge hammer that is the XL1. Great pop. Very stiff, no flex. Aluminum in my opinion is better than composite for a full season of travel baseball. Hot right out of the wrapper. Allows kids to swing a bat with more momentum at the moment of impact and to swing with intent.

Cons: A stiff aluminum bat produces some vibration if jammed, hardly a surprise. One of the trade offs. Aluminum can also dent. Also one of the trade offs.

good pop but dents Lamorinda knights #5 player

Pros: This bat has a big sweet spot with a lot of pop. If you think the s3 is to light for you get this bat. Thats what I did.

Cons: It can be dented. And is a little top heavy but you can get used to that easily so no problem

Pros: Great pop, the feel is great, nice look on the bat.. My nephew barely touched the ball and would hit it towards the fence every time..

Cons: If your playing 12U-14U expect this bat to dent. Good thing it has warranty, had to get it replaced twice..

WOW Pafromla coach

Pros: I normally don't review bats or any product for that matter. However my 11 year old has been through a few bats before this one. Last year we purchased the Marucci Black and Easton S3. The Marucci busted in one week and was returned for another one that busted as well. We ended up using the 2013 easton S3 last year for most of the season and he loved it. The we purchased to the 2014 Attack (red camo one) this year and had really below average results. The balance of the bat just didnt seem to be a good fit and it defintely didnt have the same pop as the S3 even after the break in period. We just purchased this bat and have 2 tournaments and about 12 games thus far with it. The bat is very evenly balanced compared to Easton XL bats we have had in the past. He already has 2 homeruns and has hit just about every ball hard. The 2 5/8 barrel seems to have a much bigger sweetspot than the 2 3/4 versions as well.

Cons: Really have none yet. We have never had a bad experience with Easton.

Easton XL3 Reviews Warriors37 player

Pros: Came fresh right when I got it. Lots of pop. Not much vibration. It feels really good when you hit it on the sweet spot.

Cons: I have used it for 2/3 of a season and it got a small flat spot on the barrel. Nothing else is bad about the bat.

Not a bad bat Tate Lee player

Pros: This bat is ok. Its not great and its not bad. I think the pop, unless hit absolutley perfect is sub-par. In my opinion, my -3 bbcor 2013 velo has sooooooo much more pop than this bat. That bat is hotter than hell, but thats my opinion. The feel is perfect to me. Also this bat dents very easily. Overall not a bad bat, i have had better. I would recomend the 2013 rawlings 5150 velo -9.

Cons: All said up top

Wow Grant coach

Pros: Best bat I've ever had. Unbelievable pop, huge barrel, ball absolutely gets destroyed off the barrel. Even if it's not a home run, you'll hit the hardest linedrives ever by hitting in on the sweet spot.

Cons: Chipped off a little at some parts, never affected anything though.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL14X39? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does this bat have the same ping sound like the Youth XL3? And would the -9 weight be too much of a change for my kid after using the Youth -11 XL3 in the same length? big bat
The exact sound is likely not the same between the 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X39 Senior League and XL3 Youth because of the barrel diameters. However, this XL3 is a one-piece alloy and does produce a "ping" sound on contact. As far as the increase in weight, going up 2 ounces is a season is manageable for many players and is the max of our recommendation for weight increase in a season.
Mac
Is there a 29" 21 oz. size available? Mitch
Unfortunately, the 30" 22 oz. model of the 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X39 Senior League is the smallest size being produced.
Mac
I am unsure how this bat relates to the 2013 XL3 -10. My 11 year old used that bat last year in a 29" 19 oz. What is the difference in the 2 different 2014 XL3 versions (-11 and -9) besides the obvious? cpudawg2k9
The 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X39 Senior League and the 2014 Easton XL3: YB14X3 Youth both use the same alloy materials. The barrel diameter and the drop are the only differences. Both bats have an end loaded feel, designed for a power hitter.
Kara
Very interested in this bat.but how can i tell if my kid can handle the -9 drop in 6 months after swinging a -10 drop big bat
Really only going to be able to tell once he gets to that point, but really shouldn't be a problem after swinging the drop 10 for 6 months. You could always purchase and keep plastic on the barrel until he gets to that point. Once he does get there, have him take some swings without any contact to get a feel for the weight. If he isn't ready for it yet or you just want to return it, you can print a return label off our site. Just make sure to keep the wrapper on the bat through that whole process until you decide on what your doing.
Derek
Is this bat legal in Little League Junior League? CB
The 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X39) Senior League is legal for play in Little League Junior division because it is a one-piece alloy and features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp.
Jason
My son is 10 years old, 4'6 and 67lbs. He's on the the stronger side for his size. If he got a 29'' -9 Xl3 big barrel would it be to heavy for him? Person
I think that the 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X39) Senior League would be an awesome choice for him in that size.
Aaron
Is this bat BBCOR? LTR
The 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X39) is not BBCOR certified. The 2014 Easton XL3 BBCOR (BB14X3) is BBCOR certified.
Kara
Is this bat okay to use in 13 and 14 year old leagues? cody baseball
The 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X39) would be legal in most leagues, as long as they only require the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. If your league requires a BBCOR certification, this would not be legal.
Justin R.

What is the difference between XL3 SL14X39 and the XL3 SL14X39B? John
The only difference betwwen the 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X39) and the 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X39B) is the barrel diameter. The SL14X39B is a 2 3/4" barrel and the SL14X339 is a 2 5/8" barrel.
Kara
Is this bat legal for Cal Ripken Juniors league? Bob
In order to to qualify for legal purposes in the Cal Ripken Jr division, the bat may not exceed 33", and the barrel may not exceed 2 1/4" in diameter. Therefore, the 2014 Easton XL3: (SL14X39) incorporates a 2 5/8" barrel diameter and will not qualify for the regulations.
Merritt
What is the difference between XL1 and XL3 bats? pepe0126
The Easton XL3 (SL14X39) is a one-piece all alloy design. The Easton XL1 (SL14X15) is a two-piece full composite design. The XL3 will be game ready right out of the wrapper while the XL1 will require a break-in period. We recommend around 150 swings off the tee or soft toss. Make sure you rotate the barrel a quarter of an inch every 15-20 swings to fully break-in the composite fibers.
John
How easily will it dent? Also, under what conditions will it dent? yeaidunno
The 2014 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: (SL14X39) will incorporate a very strong THT Scadium Alloy design. This material will not dent very easily, however, certain conditions will increase the risk. Therefore, I would recommend not using the bat in temperatures lower than 55 degrees. Colder temperature increases the risk of the bat denting and becoming defective.
Merritt
I am 5 foot 2" and weigh 100 pounds. What size XL3 -9 S3 should I get? . Jegan
Based on your height and weight, we would suggest that you get a 31 inch bat like the 2014 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X39).
Patrick
Does this bat come in at a 29 inch size? nick
The 2014 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X39) was made in a 29 inch size but is currently sold out in that length.
Patrick
Is the 2014 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X39) approved for play in the Little League 50/70 Division? Steve
The 2014 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X39) will be approved for play in the 50/70 Division of Little League baseball because it has an alloy barrel that does not exceed 2 5/8" in diameter.
Mac
Is this bat legal in high school play? a
The 2014 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X39) is not approved for play in high school. NFHS requires that all bats be BBCOR certified. Along with a specific BBCOR stamp, these bats must have barrel diameters that do not exceed 2 5/8" and have length to weight ratios that are no lighter than -3. This (SL14X39) has a -9 length to weight ratio, so it is too light to meet those requirements. We no longer carry it, but you would need the (BB14X3) - http://goo.gl/Y8CdDQ.
Mac
Is this bat designed for giving people more power in their swing? What is the difference between the XL3 and XL2? Awesome
The 2014 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X39) is end-loaded which can give the bat a heavier swing weight but if you are able to maintain bat speed you can gain power from the location of the weight of the bat. The Easton XL2 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL13X28) is similarly end-loaded. The main different is that the XL3 is a one-piece alloy and the XL2 is a two-piece hybrid with a composite handle and an alloy barrel.
