Pros: GREAT looking bat, even better when I saw it in person. I think all BBCORs will be pretty much the same this year, as the few that I've tried have been pretty similar distance-wise. Bought this because it feels good and looks good.

Cons: Not quite as much pop as my old bat, but that was to be expected with BBCOR.

Pros: Bought this bat for my 14yr old son. Its his first drop 3. So far he has nothing but good things to say. Balance is good and contrary to what i have read about bbcor bats this bat still has good pop!! Right out the wrapper. He says he loves it just as much if not more than his exo(drop 5)! It is well made and looks good. When you hit it well it makes a loud ping. Kinda sounds cool to me tho..

Cons: Although the paint colors are good and the bat is set off by them the bright shiney red shows scratches easily. Overall its good so far.

Pros: Balanced, nice feel at the plate, cushiony grip. Don't want to say good pop because all BBCOR's are the same in that category. Recomend to contact hitters.

Cons: If you hit the ball anywhere below the "5" in "5150" you will get some sting, grip will start to wear down after about 1.5 months. Marks easy but so what.

Pros: One of the cheapest bats on the market, yet it hits straight bombs. Expected average pop, but it has excellent pop, especially for a BBCOR. Was hitting the ball 400+ ft. Highly recommended.

Pros: Has OK "pop". Easton are still better. Hits like a BBCOR. Looks good but that does not get hits.

Cons: After 20-25 hits by my 18U kid the bat started making noise. Loud vibration near head of bat. Sent back to Rawlings to have looked at. This is a real pain sending it back, costs us another $18 which makes cost nearing Easton. Not a happy customer.

23's Dad

Pros: We got our son this bat on the recommendation of a college coach, a high school coach, & a bird-dog scout who all coached teams with Rawlings contracts. They raved about the even balance, swing weight, & performance alloy. So, we took our son's Eastons & Louisville Sluggers to Play It Again Sports & used the money to invest in a 5150 for his birthday. He received it & used it at practice & hit seeds all over the place. He raved about the balance, no sting, awesome sweet spot, how light it was, & how it, along with his Rawlings Plasma, are the best bats he has EVER handled.

Cons: None! He reports that his Rawlings bats are awesome, & so far, he has hit the ball well with them.

Pros: Coached a player who had a good hard short quick swing, but was not displaying much power with the BBCOR bat he bought. Gave him the 5150 one day this fall and he started hitting deep fly balls and much harder line drives. The difference was amazing. He hit over .500 in our last 6 fall games after hitting .200 in the first 6. He was a dedicated player to start, but his confidence and enthusiasm shot up when he saw how he could hit the ball with this bat. Ground balls that couldn't get thru holes started shooting through. The OF had to play deeper and open up more room. I have since bought two more for next year.

Cons: Handle tape maybe, but no real problems.

BCBANDIT 17

Pros: Solid, great feel with an only sllightly end weight. Doesnt flex as much for a powerful hitter. OVerall my son, 14, loves this bat and he has owned demarini, easton, TPX, DAvy Jones Wood. I ordered him a second one to have "just in case" and at the price, you cannot beat it.For a BBCOR, ball does seem to jump a little quicker than what i have seen with some of the composite eastons. My son is also 6'2", 180 lbs and swings hard, so the stiffer bat here is translating to much more power.

Cons: First one came apart inside within 10 minutes hitting soft toss. Just bats overnighted a new one. The original one that blew up (sounded like graven inside) was just a defective bat.

Is this bat legal for play beyond 2011 because on this website it says it is BBCOR certified but only legal for 2011 play. Wondering
The Rawlings 5150 is BBCOR certified and legal for play in 2011, 2012 and beyond.
Brett
Why is this legal for only 2011? ed
The Rawlings 5150 is a BBCOR bat and is legal in 2011 and beyond. The 5150 is able to be used in high school and college play.
Brett
What bat performs better: this or the Easton Rival? baseball125
The Rawlings 5150 is one of the best bats in this price range. This bat is going to be more for a contact hitter. The 150 is a one-piece bat that is going to have a little more pop that is great for a contact hitter.
Brett
Will this bat be ok to use during the 2012 season ? Fitzy
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 is BBCOR certified and is 100% legal for 2012.
Brett
Can you use it in middle school play? a-ride
The Rawlings 5150 is a BBCOR bat. Most middle schools do not require BBCOR bats so I would check with your coach before making a purchase.
Brett
Will the 5150 be sold in a non-BBCOR -3 version with the USSSA mark for 2012? Rob
No, USSSA bats will not be in a -3. Only BBCOR bats will be -3
Kris
I am a contact hitter and I was wondering what the best bat for me is that is under $250. shawn
The Rawlings 5150 is going to be a great bat. This is going to be one of the best one-piece alloys under $200.
Todd
Do you make a 5150 in a -5. sugarbear
BBCOR bats are only available in a -3. If you are looking for a -5, look under senior league.
John
What is the best BBCOR bat? Z
The Rawlings 5150 has been a very popular BBCOR bat. The CAT 5 and Rip-it Prototype II have been good bats also.
Kris
Do you sell the RIP-IT BBCOR? Is the RIP-IT balanced or top heavy? klhmlh
Yes, we carry the RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR and it is a very balanced bat. http://www.justbats.com/product/2012-rip-it-prototype-ii-bbcor--prob2-adult/14498/
baseball lady
If I buy this bat off JustBats.com will I also receive a speed cap? Craig
No, unfortunately we do not carry the speed cap.
John
If there is a dent in my bat and I got it for Christmas last year could I get a new one? cardinalballer
There is a full 12 month manufacture's warranty with the Rawlings 5150, so just give Rawlings a call. The number is 1-877-225-1041.
John
What would you say is a better bat, this one or the Nike Aero M1? maddenirish5
I've hit with both the Rawlings 5150 and Nike Aero M1 and I liked the performance of each. The Nike felt great to hit with but I would give the Rawlings 5150 a slight edge in performance.
TJ
i have the 5150 but it is not the BBCOR. What is the diffrent between that one and the BBCOR 5150? browney
If the Rawlings 5150 you have is a -3 adult bat and not BBCOR, it is BESR certified, which will not be allowed in high school or college play in 2012.
lkh
can I use this in high school? luke
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 is BBCOR certified and is legal for High School play.
John
Is it better then the Marucci CAT 5? cmon son
It is really a personal preference between the two, both the Rawlings 5150 and Marucci CAT 5 are one- piece alloy, the Marucci Cat 5 is going to be a balanced bat, some people have expressed that the Rawlings 5150 has a slight end loaded feel.
Sean
Are the handles still or do they have flex? Gurf23
The Rawlings 5150 is a one-piece alloy with a stiffer handle compared to a two-piece comoposite/alloy bat which tend to have more flex.
Kathy
Is this the 2011 model or 2012 travelman
The Rawlings 5150 is the 2011 model.
field runner
Which has less sting, the Omen or this bat the 5150? MattyK
I'd recommend the Easton Omen because it is a two-piece composite.
elroy
Is it better than the Easton XL2 and the Easton XL3? Marcus
It's difficult to compare, they are all 3 made differently and offer different things. The Rawlings 5150 is a one-piece alloy with nice pop. The Easton XL2 is a two-piece hybrid with composite handle and alloy barrel. The Easton XL3 is a one-piece aluminum. The 5150 is balanced and the XL's are end loaded.
lkh
I am really heart broken. which bat should I get, and I need an honest opinion, 5150 or the Plasma? catchers questions
The Rawlings 5150 and Rawlings Plasma are similar in performance. The 5150 may have a little bit more pop.
Sean
Are BBCOR bats needed for middle school baseball in Georgia? BASEBALLFREAK:)
Most BBCOR leagues are only high school and college leagues, I have not heard that middle schools need BBCOR but I would check with the league.
Sean
When will the 2012 model be released? Floridabaseball
The 2012 Rawlings 5150 VELO is currently available at JustBats.Com.
lkh
What bat is better this one or the 2012 Nike Aero M1 BBCOR? nike
Both the Rawlings 5150 and Nike Aero M1 are of similar design. The 5150 is a one-piece alloy with a nice balance. The M1 is also a one-piece alloy with a nice balance. The M1 has the Aero end cap for maximum bat speed.
lkh
Which is better the 5150 or the plasma? catchers questions
Both the Rawlings 5150 and Rawlings Plasma are one-piece alloy bats. The main difference is the 5150 has a speed cap end plug for faster bat speed. Both have a nice balance to them.
lkh
Would you recommend this bat or the Voodoo Black? aiden
I would recommend them both, just depends on the type of hitter you are. The Rawlings 5150 is a one-piece alloy and will be a little stiffer and better suited for power hitters. The Voodoo is a two-piece hybrid and will have a little more flex and is better suited for contact/gap hitters.
TJ
Is this bat well balanced? I have heard it is top heavy and it is balanced. Robthepitcher19
The Rawlings 5150 is a well balanced bat that swings great.
John
What is meant by "adult"? My son will be playing 13U travel ball in USSSA tournaments and middle school ball. Is this the right bat for him? Thanks. Andy
Adult means that the bat is BBCOR and going to be for high school and college players that have to use a -3 size. Most middle school leagues will not need adult bats
Sean
Is it going be able to be used in 2012? xy
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 will still be BBCOR certified in 2012.
John
I like very balanced bats. I also have a sort of inside out swing so I tend to hit a few near the handle every once in a while. So I bat with a little bit of an extended sweet spot is good for me. Which bat best fits my swing. CAT 5, 5150, or EXO? Baseball Player
All of those bats are good choices. I would recommend checking out the Rawlings 5150 or the CAT 5. Both of those bats have very nice sweet spots and have been very popular BBCOR bats. The 5150 and CAT 5 are also a well balanced bat and will not be end loaded.
Kris
We are looking to buy our son his first BBCOR- just starting highschool. The 5150 comes highly recommended, however, we were told that he shouldn't practice with the BBCOR, something about it not being able to take the number of swings and that he should practice with a wood bat. Any thoughts on this advice? Scott
We have not heard any issues with BBCOR bats having a limited amount of hits available, that being said it would not be a bad idea to use a wood bat for practice to keep the bat from getting extended use.
Sean
Is this a big barrel bat? .....
Yes. All adult bats are 2 5/8" barrels.
Kara
How does this bat compare to the 2012 Worth Toxic? Thanks Jeff
I would give the Rawlings 5150 an edge in terms of performance. Based on personal experience and customer feedback, I feel the 5150 is the hotter of the two.
Ryan
How does this compare to the Plasma? Looking for a high school legal bat for a line drive up the middle hitter with solid short to the ball stroke. lisa
Both the Rawlings 5150 and the Rawlings Plasma are one-piece alloy designs. The 5150 has the speed cap end plug for a faster bat speed. The 5150 is a different alloy, great pop and durability.
Linda
Is this a good bat for for a 13 year old who is 130 pounds and 5' 3" plays travel baseball all year round? Dan
Normally BBCOR bats are used for players in high school and college. If your team requires a BBCOR bat the Rawlings 5150 would be a good balanced bat. If the league doesn't require BBCOR bats I would look at the Senior League model of the 5150.
Kara
Is this bat the best bat on the market? Be honest. bombdropper23456789
The Rawlings 5150 is an excellent one-piece alloy with tremendous pop. It's difficult to compare alloys to composites, but as alloys go, this is definitely an awesome bat!
Linda
How big is the sweet spot compared to the Marucci CAT 5? BL777
The Rawlings 5150 and Marucci CAT 5 are two of the hottest alloy bats on the market. Both have large sweet spots and it's hard to put one above the other. However, based on what I've heard from customers, many players believe the 5150 actually has a hotter sweet spot, but the CAT 5 has a larger sweet spot.
TJ
Is this bat for a contact hitter or a power hitter. Also what is the difference between a 1 piece and 2 piece bat? ian
A one-piece bat is going to be stiffer than a two-piece bat. As a general rule of thumb, power hitters prefer one-piece bats and contact hitter prefer two-piece bats. Therefore, the Rawlings 5150 would be best for a power hitter but still a solid option for a contact hitter.
Sean
How durable is this bat compared to the CAT 5or Exogrid? b7
The Rawlings 5150, CAT 5 and Louisville Slugger EXOGRID2 are all one-piece alloys and will be very durable bats.
Sean
Is this bat for contact hitters or power hitters? dfd
The Rawlings 5150 is a very good option for contact hitters. It is a one-piece alloy with good pop and a very balanced feel.
Sean
Is the XL2 more end loaded then the 5150? bdubb
Yes, the Easton XL2 is end loaded and the Rawlings 5150 is balanced.
Kara
What is the difference between this bat and the new 5150 velo and is the velo available right now? zane
The Rawlings 5150 and Rawlings 5150 VELO are very similar in design, but there are a few differences. The VELO has an extended barrel and is designed to increase swing velocity.
Todd
Why do you not sell the 32/29 bat? Are you jsut out of them? Jetsticks
As of 4-20-12, the 32" 29oz. Rawlings 5150 is in stock.
Derek
Will you be getting in any 32/29 sizes soon on this bat? Shags
Yes, the 32" 29oz. Rawlings 5150 is in stock.
John
Is it eligible for high school play in 2012? awesome
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 is BBCOR certified, which makes it legal for High School play.
TJ
What is better, this or the XL3? pbgthunder12
Both the Rawlings 5150 and Easton XL3 are great bats. They are both one-piece alloys that are durable, balanced and provide great pop.
Sean
I want to know the key differences between the rawlings 5150 alloy vs. the 5150 velo. Thanks! michelle
The Rawlings 5150 Velo has a lighter MOI which equals a lighter swing weight compared to the original 5150. If you have a player who's more of a contact/gap hitter or looking to increase their swing speed, then the Velo may be a better choice.
TJ
Rawlings 5150 or Marucci Black? I'm leaning towards 5150 because I already have the BESR version. What edge does the 5150 have over the Black? Lags002
The Rawlings 5150 is a one-piece alloy and more for a power hitter. The Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid bat, better designed for contact hitters. If you are comfortable with the 5150 I would stick with it.
Kara
I'm 5'6 and 135 pounds. I have a 31 inch 26 ounce BESR 5150. Now that I need BBCOR I don't know what size to get. A 32/29 or 31/28?based off my size,what do you think size bat I should get? Lags002
For your specs, according to our Bat Coach tool, the recommended size is a 33" 30oz.
Kara
I'm needing a new BBCOR bat, I'm 14 and swinging a 32" wood Marucci and getting around well. I've read reviews of this and the 5150 VELO bat and they both sound outstanding! But what is your personal preference? smashin boots
I personally like the Rawlings 5150, it has a little more pop. The Rawlings 5150 VELO is designed to generate more bat speed for the player, if you are already getting around on the ball well, the 5150 should perform better for you
Sean
Would you reccommend this to anyone looking for a BBCOR, and do you think it's the best? lou
The Rawlings 5150 is one of the best one-piece alloy BBCOR bats under $200.00.
K.B.
Is the Rawlings 5150 or the 5150 VELO a better bat? bob
The Rawlings 5150 and Rawlings 5150 VELO are very similar in design. The only difference is that the VELO has an extended barrel.
Linda
Is it possible to shave the knob of an aluminum bat to make it smaller? mike honcho
I have never heard of someone doing that. I'm sure you could but that will void the one-year manufacturer warranty.
KG
Does this bat come in 32" 29oz.? Ms Hamp
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 is available in 32" 29oz.
KG
Would you recommend this bat or the Marucci CAT 5? I've read about both of them, and I'm not sure which one is better. Ian
Both the Rawlings 5150 and Marucci CAT 5 are one-piece alloys with great pop and durability, so it comes down to your personal preference.
Sean
This is our first year to hit with a -3 my son is 13 and is not a power hitter. Would this bat be a good choice Junior
The Rawlings 5150 is a good bat, so is the Easton S3 BBCOR: BB11S3, since your son is new to the -3, this one has a low MOI which helps with bat speed. Many times bat speed struggles when you jump them up so much in weight.
Linda
Would you recomend this bat over the EXO? Im 6' tall at 165 lbs and bench press 275 lbs so you could say I'm a power hitter. Trojan17
Both the Rawlings 5150 and the Louiseville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 are one-piece alloys and suited for power hitters.
K.B.
Would this bat be good for a contact/line drive hitter? I'm comparing this bat with the DeMarini Voodoo and DeMarini M2M mostly. el pollo loco
Two-piece bats like the DeMarini Voodoo and DeMarini M2M are better suited for contact hitters. The Rawlings 5150 is a one-piece alloy and better for power hitters.
K.B.
If to say I ordered this bat on a Tuesday, when would the bat get to me? eaglesplayer12
Guaranteed within 5 business days with our free shipping.
John
Just got a 2011 rawlings 5150 and I was just wondering if cage balls(yellow with dimples) ruin it? Diego1996
Those yellow, dimpled cage balls are exceptionally hard on bats. Generally, they are harder on composite bats. To be safe, if the 5150 is your game bat, I would limit the amount of cage time you do with it.
Linda
Well for one, I'm interested to know when the 2012 model will come out,and my second question is if i have a bat budget of $250 dollars or less for a contact type hitter who needs a bat with a decent amount of pop would you recommend this bat, the cat 5, or something else? Justin
The 2012 Rawlings 5150 VELO is now available on JustBats.Com. The 5150 and Marucci CAT 5 are both one-piece alloys. If you are a contact hitter, you may want to check out a two-piece bat because contact hitters tend to prefer two-piece bats.
Linda
Better than the CAT 5? jj
Both the Rawlings 5150 and Marucci CAT 5 are great options. Both have a balanced weight and will have very good pop for a BBCOR bat. You can't go wrong with either choice here.
KG
How does this bat compare to the 5150 Velo are they the same? Do they have the same length of sweet spot? Which is better? Justin
The Rawlings 5150 and Rawlings 5150 Velo are very similar. The biggest difference is that the VELO has an extended barrel.
K.B.
What is the difference between the 5150 alloy and 5150 VELO? toon
The Rawlings 5150 and Rawlings 5150 are very similar in design. The major difference is that the VELO has an extended barrel.
Sean
Is this bat top heavy at all? I tend to not hit well or like any top heavy, unbalanced bats. ALan
No, the Rawlings 5150 is a very balanced bat.
Sean
I am a contact hitter, which would be more beneficial the 5150 or the CAT 5? alan
Both the Rawlings 5150 and Marucci CAT 5 are one-piece alloys with a stiff feel and are great options for a power hitter.
John
Does a 5150 or S3 have a larger sweet spot? Paul
Both the Rawlings 5150 and Easton S2 are one-piece alloys, have a similar size sweet spot, and provide great pop.
K.B.
Is this a bat you would recommend for a power hitter or contact hitter? jake
The Rawlings 5150 is a one-piece alloy with a stiff feel and is better suited for power hitters.
Kara
Do you know if you could use this bat for Pony League? H-FoRcE
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 can be used in Pony League.
Kara
Is this bat legal for high school play? It has BESR stamp on it also? jay
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 is a BBCOR bat and legal for high school play.
KG
Does this bat have the USSSA stamp for 2012? joe
The Rawlings 5150 does not have a USSSA stamp, it is a BBCOR bat.
Sean
Is it certified for use in USSSA and does it have the USSSA stamp on it? dad
No, the Rawlings 5150 does not have the USSSA stamp, it is BBCOR certified for high school and collegiate play. However, BBCOR bats are legal to use in USSSA leagues, so the 5150 would work for you.
Nick
I have a 12 yr old that is 5'6 146lbs. What do you recommend for a good bat, length and weight? Dad
For those specs, I would recommend the Rawlings 5150 in a 32" 29oz. You can also check out our Bat Coach for more information. http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Ryan
I'm trying to decide between the RIP-IT and the 5150. Any suggestions? Parker
The Rawlings 5150 has more of a balanced weight if you like that feel. They both have great pop and are very good BBCOR bats.
KG
I want to now why I should pick the 5150 or the CF5? The big dog
It depends on they type of hitter you are and your personal preference. The DeMarini CF5 is a two-piece composite bat typically preferred by contact hitters and the Rawlings 5150 is a one-piece alloy and preferred by power hitters.
KG
Ok I'm looking at the 5150, RIP-IT, and Anderson Ignite, which looks like a good bat to me but is not very popular. Honest opinion from an expert, which would you go with? Sam
If you are looking for a balanced bat, the Rawlings 5150is going to be the best. The RIP-IT and Anderson are slightly end loaded.
Kara
Should I get this or the Easton Omen? Which one is more balenced and which one has morer pop? d man
The Rawlings 5150 is going to be more balanced than the Omen. Both have good pop.
KB
Is this bat legal for my sons team? He is in 8th grade. He is playing for is school league, not town league. Just not sure what the new rules for bats this year. Thank you. Chad
The Rawlings 5150 is BBCOR approved for high school and college play. I would check with your league to determine the bat specs that they require.
Jennifer
What is the bat performance rating of the 5150 alloy CP5150A 2 3/4 inch coach pitch? Paul
The BBCA BBCOR model has a BPF (ball performance factor) of 1.15.
Jennifer
Should I get the Easton XL2 or the 5150? I'm 5"10 150 and in the 8th grade. zc
The Rawlings 5150 and Easton XL2 are completely different bat styles so it depends on your personal preference and the type of hitter you are. The 5150 is a one-piece alloy preferred by power hitters and the XL2 is a two-piece hybrid that is end weighted and typically preferred by contact hitters.
John
I coach a 13U team in the State of Georgia. I am leaning towards the 5150 -3 as team bats. Problem is we play USSSA and OPEN Basball sanctioned tourneys. Our bats must have the USSSA stamp on them. Does this 5150 -3 have that stamp? Danny Manis
BBCOR bats will not have the USSSA stamp. Only -5 to -12 bats will have the USSSA mark. However, USSSA does allow BBCOR bats so you could use the Rawlings 5150 BBCOR for league and tourney games..
Kara
Is the 2012 Velo as good or better than the 2011 5150? hits
The 2012 Rawlings 5150 VELO is an updated model but features similar design as the 2011 model. The main difference is that the VELO has an extended barrel. Check out the BBCOR search filter on the Justbats.com for additional BBCOR options.
Shelbe
Are BBCOR Bats required for Middle School Baseball ages 11-13 year olds? Also what about youth baseball ages 7-9 year olds? Hustle
Leagues for these ages will require that they have a USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp located on the bat. The BBCOR certification is only required for high school and college play.
Derek
I am wondering if there is a warranty on this bat? casey
This bat does come with a full 12-month manufacturer's warranty. If you use the bat and something happens within the year, you would just need to have a copy of your receipt and call the manufacturer (in this case that is Rawlings) and they will be able to replace the bat for you if you need it.
Jennifer
The BBCA has a full year warranty with purchase from us. For more bat information you can contact our customer service at 1-866-321-2287.
Shelbe
My son is big and leads his team in homeruns. We are looking for a new BBCOR bat and need the best one for a power hitter. Is a two piece composite/alloy bat better than a 1 piece alloy for a power hitter? jh
A one-piece bat is stiffer and often preferred by stronger power hitters. A bat like the RIP-IT Prototype II, Rawlings 5150, Easton S3, or Easton XL3 would be some good options for power hitters.
Tyler
Need a bat that has .5 certified, is this one correct? juliel
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 is BBCOR certified.
Kara
Honest opinion from a pro, what bat is better the 5150 or S3? Which do you think performs better? Marc
I talk to customers all day...and the jury is out between the Easton S3 and Rawlings 5150. I've heard a few customers say that the 5150 is one of the best alloy bats they've hit with, and I've heard an equal amount of customers say the S3 is the best alloy bat they've hit with. Both sell great and it's next to impossible to say one is better than the other.
Tyler
Is this bat 100% alloy? Max
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 is 100% alloy.
Tyler
My son is trying to choose between the Rawlings 5150 and the Easton Surge. We are looking at 32/29? Tammie
If he is a stronger power hitter, I would lean towards the Rawlings 5150 since it is a stiff one-piece bat. If he is more of a contact/gap hitter, I would lean towards the Surge as it is a two-piece bat with more flex
Tyler
Would you recommend the Rawlings 5150, or the Easton Surge (both BBCOR) for more of a contact hitter? B Rose
The Easton Surge is a two-piece bat, which is usually preferred most by contact hitters. A one-piece bat, like the Rawlings 5150 is typically better suited for power hitters because they don't offer flex like the two-piece models. With that being said, a contact hitter could still use the Rawlings 5150, the decision just comes down to whatever you feel most comfortable hitting.
Jennifer
Which feels lighter, Rawlings 5150, or Easton S3? BB
The Easton S3 will have a slightly lower swing weight compared to the Rawlings 5150. If you like the 5150, but want a lighter swing weight, take a look at the 5150 Velo BB51V.
Tyler
Is there a new 5150 version out in 2012 or is it the same as the 5150 released in 2011? dave
Rawlings came out with the 5150 Velo for the 2012 season. This is a one-piece alloy construction with a balanced swing weight and extended barrel. Here is the link to view more features of this bat. http://www.justbats.com/product/2012-rawlings-5150-velo-bbcor--bb51v-adult/14823/
Derek
I'm 5'0" 110 pounds what size should I use? rich
Based off of your height and weight, I would suggest going with a 29" bat. If you need any further assistance in selecting the right size for you, feel free to use our bat coach feature located at the top of the webpage or give us a call at 1-866-321-2287!
Jennifer
Is the 5150 from 2011 still usuable for High School in 2012? Panthers
The Rawlings 5150 is BBCOR certified and legal for use in high school and collegiate level play. As long as the bat has the BBCOR certification, it is good to use.
Jennifer
Is this bat legal for high school play in 2012? Why is the more expensive model for $249.99 not available in 32/29?? andy
This bat is BBCOR certified and is legal for play in 2012 and beyond. The Rawlings 5150 Velo is offered in a 32" 29oz., we are just temporarily out of stock on that size. We are expecting to receive more and once we do that size option will be listed on our website as an option for you to choose.
Jennifer
Would you say that the regular 5150 is better then the Velo 5150 or that the Velo is better then the regular? Big Down Low
Both the Rawlings 5150 and Rawlings 5150 Velo are one-piece alloy bats with great pop. The main difference between the two is the Velo has a more balanced swing weight and extended barrel. The Velo was designed to increase swing velocity, thus creating more power for you.
Jennifer
Does this bat have a fast swing weight? BigSkinny23
The Rawlings 5150 is pretty balanced and does have a light swing weight. Another bat similar to this one that has a very light swing weight would be the Rawlings 5150 Velo.
Jennifer
Does the 5150 alloy come chipped because when I bought it, it was chipped. luke
The bats we send out of our facility are brand new and should not have any flaws. If your Rawlings 5150 BBCOR is chipped you can use the free merchandise return label we shipped with our bat to return it to us. Make sure to state on the packing slip what is wrong with the bat, and whether you want to exchange for another 5150 or a different bat.
Derek
Is the 5150 BBCA, Demarini Voodoo, or Easton S1 better for a power hitter??? kyle
If you are looking for a bat for a power hitter, I would suggest the Rawlings 5150. This bat is a one-piece alloy bat that is very stiff and will help generate power. The DeMarini Voodoo and the Easton S1 are great bats, but the two-piece design is typically suited for contact/gap hitters.
Jennifer
Is the 5150 BBCA or TPX Z-1000 better for a power hitter? Mr.Baseball
Since both the Rawlings 5150 and the Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000 are one-piece bats, they are both great options for power hitters.
Jennifer
Does this bat need to be broken-in? CubanCatcher6
The Rawlings 5150 is an all alloy bat and does not require a break-in. Only composite barrel bats will require a break-in.
Jennifer
What's the difference between this bat and the 2012 Rawlings Plasma? Hunter
The 5150 is made from a higher grade alloy and will have a little more pop.
Tyler
Why doesn't my 5150 have the BESR stamp on it? Danny
The BESR stamp is not the required stamp for adult bats. All adult bats must be BBCOR certified to be legal in high school and college in 2012 and beyond.
Kara
Does this bat have the traditional "ping" sound to it? Mr. Marucci
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 will have the traditional "ping" sound to it.

Nick
Which bat would be better for power hitters, the Rawlings 5150 or the RIP-IT Prototype 2? Kyle
Since both the Rawlings 5150 and the RIP-IT Prototype 2 are one piece full alloy bats, they will work well for power hitters.
Nick K.
I have heard both is this better for contact hitters or power hitters? charri5066
The 5150 is a one piece alloy bat with a balanced swing weight. This makes is a great option for an all-around type of hitter.
Tyler
I'm just starting to use BBCOR bats. I can't decide if I should go with the Easton S3 or the Rawlings 5150 alloy. I'm a contact hitter. alloy4life
The Rawlings 5150 uses high performing 5150 alloy and the Easton S3 uses great THT100 alloy. Both will be excellent options for you as a contact hitter. Here is a link to further compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom

Kara

Yes the Rawlings 5150 Alloy is great for power hitters. It is a one-piece design that features Rawlings high performing 5150 alloy.
Tom
Would you recommend this or a Marucci for contact hitters? Pearc3
One piece bats like the Rawlings 5150 are best suited for power hitters. The Marucci Black is a two-piece bat, better for a contact hitter.
Kara
Is this bat banned in some High School leagues? Jake
We have heard no reports of the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR being banned in high school.
Tom
What is the difference between this bat and the Rawlings 5150 Velo? ralph
The Rawlings 5150 Velo will be more balanced than the Rawlings 5150 Alloy for increased swing speed.
Damon
my son ,a sophmore in highschool, had purchased and played and practiced with the 5150 all season. towards the midlle to end of summer, there was a noticeable significant less pop to the bat resulting in much less power. I believe south carolina university players said they had to change bats in the middle of the season because of the deadness of the bat. Is this happening and should bats be changed through the season if they are used alot in practice and games? I need your advice because I guess I need to purchace a practice bat and a separate game bat for the 5150 rawlings. frank
Alloy bats that see heavy usage during the off-season and regular season, can result in a drop-off in performance. This is mostly seen with bats used by players who play over 80 games a season. If you play more than 80 or so games a season, it may be a good idea to have a back-up bat just in case.
Tyler
What is the difference between the 2013 5150 and previous years? Bigstick
The 2013 5150 is the same as the 2012 5150. Just a different paint job.
Tyler
Will this bat be more balanced than the rip it prototype? DCDCDCDC
Yes. The Rawlings 5150 has just a slightly more balanced feel compared to the Prototype.
Tyler
I am looking at the Rawlings 5150 and the Rawlings 5150 VELO. Which is a better bat for my son. He is a singles type hitter. I believe he needs a bat that will provide bat speed. Between these 2 bats which would you recommend? Baseball Dad
The 5150 Velo has a lighter swing weight than the regular 5150. If your son doesn't have above average strength and swing speed, the Velo would be recommended.
Tyler
Will this bat be available in the Bat Packs in the near future? Tim
Unfortunately, we cannot determine that the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR bat will be in a bat pack or not yet.
Noah
what is a better bat in general, this bat or the 5150 velo? sam
That depends on the player. The 5150 Velo is better for a player with average or below average swing speed. The regular 5150 is best for a player with slightly above average to well above average swing speed.
Tyler
Which 5150 is better, the 2013 model or this one? Brandon
Rawlings has made some small improvements on the 2013 Rawlings 5150. The 2013 is more durable and has a more balanced swing weight compared the the 2012 5150.
Cooper
Is the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult baseball bat or the Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BB51V Adult baseball bat more balanced? cocky
Both of these baseball bats are balanced bats so the difference in balance between them will be minimal.

The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult and the Rawlings 5150 are both great bats. They perform about the same.
Zach
Is Rawlings going to make a 2013 version of the Machine? The 2013 Velo & 5150 are one piece design--does Rawlings plan to have a hybrid design for 2013? cane
According to the information available to us, Rawlings will not be producing a 2013 Machine Adult BBCOR bat, and they will not have a two-piece hybrid design in their 2013 line.
Tyler

Tyler
What is the difference between this bat and the Easton S3? BOBBY
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA is produced by Rawlings and uses their 5150 Alloy. The Easton S3 BBCOR is produced by Easton with their THT100 Scandium Alloy and will be a little more balanced than the 5150.

Rawlings 5150 2013 Velo BBVELO. I am considering buying this bat for my son for High School this week. Is there any rule changes coming out before the season regarding bats Money
All bats used in official high school play must meet the new BBCOR requirements. Bats that meet these requirements will possess an approval stamp on the barrel. The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult bat is BBCOR certified and will meet the requirements set for 2013 high school competition.
Robert
Is this a better bat than the Rawlings Plasma that we purchased last year? russ
Yes the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult will be a better overall bat than the Rawlings Plasma.
Noah
I am 5' 9" and 150 or so lbs. Should I get a 32/29 or a 33/30? baseball16
I suggest the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult in a 32" 29 oz. bat for a player your size.
Katie
I am 15 years old, 6'5" 180 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? Nick
Given your size, I would recommend going with the 34" 31 oz. model of the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult bat.
Marcus
I am 6'2" 210lbs and am trying to decide between the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR and the Easton XL3 BBCOR. Which one do you think will work best for me? nathan
Both the Rawlings 5150 and the Easton XL3 are great bats. The Rawlings would fit your hitting style if you are more of a contact hitter and the Easton XL3 would be better for you if you are more of a power hitter.
Noah
My son is 5'4 142 lbs and has an inside out swing. He is a notorious left handed hitter who goes to the gap between left field and center field. What is the best bat for an inside out swing? ryan
Any balanced bat with a light swing weight would be just fine for your son. If you go with something that has a heavy swing weight he will just drag it through the zone. Try taking a look at the Easton S1 or 2013 DeMarini CF5.
Noah
I am 6'1" 175 lbs and I was wondering which 5150 I should get. It is between the 2013 and 2012 models. Also, which size bat should I get? Txstixplaya111
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult does not have the Composite-Lite end cap that the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult has to eliminate minor cracking issues and vibration. We recommend a 33" bat for a player your size.
Katie
Does this bat perform as well as the DeMarini M2M? smg
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult bat will be a one-piece design. It will feel more stiff. A power hitter would prefer this bat over a two-piece design. The DeMarini M2M will be a two-piece design. This bat will help cut down on hand sting and vibration. Also, neither bat will require any period of break-in. I like both bats.
Brandon
Does this model have the same pOp technology that the 2013 model has? edward
Both the 2012 ad 2013 Rawlings 5150 use the same alloy in the bat and will be manufactured the same way.
Noah
Do these bats come with a warranty? Dustin
Yes, the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult will have a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty from the day of the purchase.
John H
Does this bat come in a 33"? Harris Avant
Due to this bat being a 2012, we only offer the 31" and the 34".
Justin R.
How can you tell if the bat has died? I've had mine for a year and have noticed a drop off in performance lately. Can it just be the cold weather? Huskies baseball
Alloy bats do decline in performance over time as you use them. If you feel the bat is dead you can send it into Rawlings for your warranty replacement.
Noah
Do you sell replacement ends caps? Jn
We don't sell any end caps, you could check with the manufacture. Rawling's number is 877-225-1041.
Chad M.
Would you recommend this bat or any other? If not, what would go for a 5'8" 160 lbs high school player? beastmode24
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult bat would be an excellent choice for a high school hitter. The 5150 Alloy is very high performing!
Brandon
Is this bat more for power or contact hitters? JOshii
The one-piece design of the Rawlings REVO 950 Series: 9SC127FD is best suited for a power hitter.
Kara

Mac
I am a contact hitter and I really like having a one piece design. Would you recommend the Rawlings 5150 or the Marucci Team bat? Thomas
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA) Adult is a good one-piece bat for contact hitters. Personally I would go with the Marucci team bat but that is a personal preference. You could not go wrong with either model.
Jackson
Is there an option for this bat to come in a 34"? Jake
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy (BBCA) does come in a 34" 31 oz. but we are out of stock currently in that bat size. We do have a 34" 31 oz. in 2014 Rawlings 5150 Alloy (BB513).
Zach
I am 5'9" 175 lbs and a power hitter. Is 33.5 inches a good length for me? billy
Based on your approximate height and weight, the suggested size we would recommend would be 32 inches, however, 33 inches would also work as well. The 33.5 is the only size we have available in the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: (BBCA) and it might a little too big based on your approximate size, however, it will ultimately come down to your personal judgement and comfort level.
Merritt
What's the difference between this the 2013 and 2014 model of this bat. Is there any big difference in performance or balance? tanner
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA) will have the same swing feel as the newer versions of the 5150. The materials will also be the same featuring Rawlings 5150 Alloy.

Kara
How long does it take to break-in the 5150? ian
There will be no break-in required for the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA).
Brandon
What the difference between this bat and the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2? diamond life
There would be minimal differences between the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA) and the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2). For the most part, the main difference would be that there was a slight adjustment to the end-cap and the color scheme. Other than that it is made out of the same high quality 5150 alloy.
Patrick
I need this bat in a 32 29oz. Can I still get it? J-rod
Unfortunately, we no longer have this Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBCA) in the 32" 29 oz. model. We do still have the 2013 model in that size, however: http://goo.gl/6VurTD.
Mac
Do you have one in 32" 29 oz.? baseball
Unfortunately, we are sold out of the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBCA) in the 32" size. This is a close out model, so we do not anticipate getting any additional sizes in.
Tessa
Do you have one in a 31"? big papi
No, we only have the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA) in a 33.5" and a 34" as of 8/14/2014.
John
Will you have any 33" models in stock anytime soon? gmoney
Unfortunately, the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBCA) is a discontinued model and we will not be getting any more 33" bats.
Jason
Would you say this bat is better or worse than newer models? g$
The newer versions of the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBCA) have changed only slightly over the years and still use a very similar design and material. Therefore, the performance of the bats will be very similar from year to year.
Patrick
Will you be getting any more 34" or is this bat done for good? Jackson
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBCA) has been discontinued, so we won't be getting a 34" bat in this model.
Chinyere
What year model is this? Book
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBCA) is listed as a 2012 model but was released in late 2011.
John
Would this bat be a good choice as a cheaper replacement for the new 2017 Rawlings 5150, or will the 2017 bat have a much higher performance? swrhoads34
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBCA) and the 2017 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB75) are going to be very similar bats. The 2017 Rawlings 5150 is built with the traditional 5150 alloy that has been used on these bats since they were first made. So both of these two bats are going to use the same aluminum. This one would definately be a good choice for a cheaper replacement if you could find it somewhere for cheaper. With this bat being a 2012 model it could be relatively hard to find it anywhere. But if you did know where one was it would be a great option.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
