All junior big barrel bats are made for coach pitch only. A lot of leagues banned coach pitch bats in their league, so they changed the name of them to junior big barrel bats. These bats should only be used in coach pitch leagues as they will most likely crack used in any other league based on how thin junior big barrel bats are made.

This bat is made up to a 28/18 because it is a coach pitch bat. This bat is meant for players in coach pitch baseball only.

No, this bat does not have "cp" or "coach pitch" anywhere on the bat. The name has changed to "junior big barrel" bats.

We have not, this bat is designed for coach pitch use and not kid pitch. We have heard the junior big barrels cracking or denting if people trying to use them in kid pitch. Junior big barrels will have thinner walls unlike the "senior league" models which are designed to hold up in kid pitch.

This specific model (MJBB2) is not. This is a youth, Junior Big Barrel bat. Only Adult baseball bats are required to meet the new BBCOR standard. If you need an Adult BBCOR model, look at model MCB2.

Most people have said that the Marucci has the most pop because of the alloy that is used. The MJBB2 has thinner walls and is meant for coach pitch leagues. The Z-1000's are better for player pitch leagues and are more durable.

Coach Pitch bats and Junior Big Barrel bats, like the Marucci CAT 5: MJBB@ Junior Big Barrel bat, are designed to be used against pitches under 40 mph. As long as the CAT 5 is used against pitches less than 40 mph and not used in temperatures less than 55 degrees, you should be fine.

Using the Bat Coach Feature on justbats.com I was able to determine that your son should be using a bat length. 29"-30". If he is making the jump from Coach Pitch to Kid Pitch make sure that a 2 3/4" barrel is legal in his league. Sometimes you will see only 2 5/8" barrel diameter being legal in Kid Pitch. The Marucci CAT 5: MJBB2 Junior Big Barrel will have the big 2 3/4" barrel diameter. This bat being a One-Piece all Alloy design will not require a period of break-in and will perform its best right out of the wrapper. The CAT 5 will come with a 12 month warranty from Marucci.

The Marucci CAT 5: MJBB2 Junior Big Barrel is intended for use in Coach Pitch only. The thinner walls will dent in velocities exceeding 40 MPH. The CAT 5 is on sale because it is a 2012 model.

The warranty replacement for the Marucci CAT 5 is the Marucci Team bat. For Junior Big Barrel this is the only bat Marucci makes, but there other brands that will be just as comparable.
