Description

Last season, Louisville Slugger revolutionized the game by introducing the HOTTEST bat ever to hit fastpitch softball, the TPS XENO! The XENO received glowing reviews from players that used it, however it remained somewhat of a well-kept secret. Not anymore. Louisville Slugger has revamped the XENO with the expectation that this will be THE bat to own this season. The reason the XENO is so hot lies in what Louisville Slugger calls S1 iD Technology. This technology actually allows the barrel to be tuned to exceed the legal ball exit speed ratio. The catch is that a governor is placed inside that allows the barrel to flex to its MAXIMUM allowable performance from SWING 1. The XENO is made from Louisville Slugger's innovative new LS 2X Composite, yet due to the S1 iD technology, it needs ABSOLUTELY ZERO BREAK-IN! The XENO features an iST design that gives this bat a solid connection between the barrel and handle. iST provides players a bat with a solid feel and HUGE sweetspot, while absorbing vibrations from mis-hit balls before they reach the hands. With a tacky synthetic grip and a 7/8 inch handle, the XENO will give players absolute control at the plate. If you are a fastpitch player looking for THE top-of-the-line bat this season, look no furthur than the TPS XENO! Louisville Slugger: Feel The Power! The XENO is approved by ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and ISF. This bat comes with a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Excellent responsiveness with contact on any part of the barrell. no break in needed. The softball popped off the bat in the first hit. continues to outperform the DeMarini CF4.

Cons: sound may intimidate the average hitter. When ball comes off the bat it sounds like you are breaking fine china. Really. Very unique sound to the bat! Don't let it scare you though.

Pros: Awesome! I will not compare this bat with batting averages as we all know that has a lot to do with technique and hours and hours of hard work. My daughter is a good hitter at 12U but I will say she had her first grand slam with this bat the first weekend she used it. The ball comes off the bat with such pop it is scary. Just be careful with bunts, they could turn out to be line drives:)

Cons: Feels a little end-loaded, a little heavy on the barrel and has taken a little away from her snapping the bat head through. Just needs a little getting used to.

Pros: Awesome Sweet spot and probably the best money I've ever spent on a bat. Beats the CF4 by miles! Will continue to stick with Louisville slugger from now on. This bat is HOT out of the wrapper! Ball flies off of it!

Cons: Sounds a little different when you hit a ball, but when you see it work: It's worth it!

Pros: LOVE IT!!!! We bought our daughter the 2011 one and she adored it then we won the 2012 one. And OMG it is awesome!! She LOVES this bat. Love the sound, everyone knows what that crack means. Definitely worth paying the money.

Cons: Everyone wants to use it, but that would be a plus.

Pros: Ball just fly's off the bat. I have never seen a ball come off a bat like this. It is scary how the ball reacts to this bat.

Cons: Seems slightly top heavy, my daughter went from a 32/20 DeMarini Vendetta to the 33/23 Xeno. Would have liked it more if it was a -11 33/22 bat. It is taking a while for her to get use to the added 3oz's. But it was definetely worth the jump.

Cons: Would like to see this bat in a -11, but with an adjustment it works!!!

Pros: Bat is very hot! I created a 9 year old beast when I bought this one. Went from a Combat to the Xeno - not comparable. My daughter ate up a pitcher and a 3rd baseman her first game with it not to mention the shots to the outfield. Very Hot! Worth the money.

Cons: White handle gets dirty quickly. The whole team wants to now use it.

Pros: Hot bat from day one. My daughter plays 10u and we went from a combat to the Xeno. Well worth the money. It has raised her confidence at the plate when she sees the rockets that comes off it. I didn't think a bat could make that much difference in confidence or swings but I am a believer now. I would buy this bat even if it was 400+ bucks knowing what I know now. No sting - no matter where you hit ir or how cold it is. Those complaints from my daughter have stopped. Even when you know it should sting - nothing.

Cons: The defensive players need to be awake as the balls that come off this bat will hurt you. The sound, I wouldn't say is con. It is different but with the hit that comes off it and the sound - it makes people notice it and say wow! If you want your invest held low key and think only your kid will use it - don't fool yourself. The team will want to hit it - period.

Pros: Awesome bat, with extreme pop. Compared to the easton stealth or demarini bats the xeno is basically a trampoline , and the bat itself isnt as "dense" as the stealth or CF4. The xeno's sound makes coaches turn their heads and really is an attention grabber. It also doesnt break at all. Ive had 4 2011 easton stealths which all cracked within 50 pitches... the xeno hasnt cracked with 1,000 pitches yet. highly recommend this bat.

Pros: There isn't any sting when you hit with this bat, no matter where you hit it. That much is true. If you can manage to hit one just right you get a good hit with good distance, and I'm 5'4" and about 130lbs.

Cons: The warranty requires that you KEEP YOUR RECEIPT, as well as keeping that little warranty paper that you get your bat with. Also, if you don't get the ball EXACTLY right on the sweet spot, the ball dies. Many times I have switched to my CF4 -9 during tournaments because it is more reliable if I don't get a great hold on the ball.

Cons: My daughter snapped two of these in half within two weeks of purchase, but were replaced under warranty. So far the one is holding up. We just got the other back from LS two days ago, so no review yet. Also this bat requires near perfect hitting technique, because it only has a small room for error. If your technique is average, this is not the bat for you. Demarini is more forgiving for hitters that have average hitting techniques.

Pros: I was torn with buying such an expensive bat until my girls used it. Worth every penny for the feeling i get from watching my daughters succeed. This bat has awesome pop and the sound is killer. I've had other parents want me to let their daughters try it out during batting practice and I've had other coaches come up to me to check it out. I bought this bat mainly for my 9 yr old who is in her first year of 10u and she loves it. My younger girl is in her first year of 8u and begged me to let her swing it in a game... she now refers to it as the "magic" bat. I've had a lot of fun this year watching them.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP12X? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Daughter is 17 yrs old, 5'4" and 125 lbs. She currently swings a 33"/23oz. bat. Will she need the same size in the Xeno? MamaC
If she is swinging a 33" 23 ounce bat now and she is swinging the bat well, then it would probably benefit her to stick with the same size that she is currently using. If she is struggling with her current bat or she doesn't like the feel of it, then she may want to go with a different size.
Brett
What is different besides the color for the 2012? keith
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat uses Louisville's new LS-2X Composite material. This new composite uses thinner, and higher strength graphite fibers to help increase the handle stiffness, which in turn helps create more barrel flex for increased performance.
Brett
What are the major differences between this bat and the Easton Synergy Speed? Pgp
The major difference is the S1 iD technology used in the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat. The Xeno has a governor placed inside the barrel to ensure that the bat achieves the maximum allowable performance from your first swing. Without the governor, the bat would actually exceed the performance limits set in place. The Xeno is also a two-piece bat with more flex, the Synergy Speed is a stiffer one-piece bat. Both are great bats.
Brett
My daughter has been using a 33 inch, 23 oz. bat for a few years but of course has grown quite a bit since using. She is 5'5 and weighs 140 lbs. Should we go to a 34" 24oz. size? Pretty clueless on bat buying here. Jenae
Based off of her height and weight, I would recommend her sticking with a 33 inch bat. A 33 inch bat will be the best size for her according to what she has been swinging. As far as the weight goes, it is really going to depend on her personal preference and also how well her bat speed is now. If she is completely satisfied and hitting the ball well, I would stay where she is at.
Todd
Daughter uses a Easton Rampage 31 inch 19.5 oz. 2 1/4 inch barrel. Plays 12u first season. What size would she need for this bat? Cha Cha
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat is a great bat. The lightest the XENO comes in is a -10 ounce drop. You may use our Bat Coach online to see what size bat she would need based off of her height and weight. http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
LKH
I've used a 33" 23 oz in the TPS Catalyst. Should I use the same size in this bat? I'm about 5'3-5'4 and about 150lbs B
If you currently swing a 33" 23 oz. bat and you like the feel of it and feel that your bat speed is fine with these dimensions, then I would probably stick with the same size. If you want a little change in your swing, then it won't hurt to change sizes either based off of what you think would feel better for you. The following is a great link that will help you decide what is going to be the perfect length and weight to get; http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Todd
My daughter is 5'5'' and 190lbs. What size should she get in this bat? KB893
Based off of your daughter's height and weight, the recommended length is a 34" bat. This is a great link that we have on our site that helps pick out the perfect bat based on height, weight, and other preferences; http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Todd
Just need 34" 28oz. to the wall
The largest size available in the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat is the 34" 24 oz. The FP12X9 is available in a 34" 25 oz. bat. The heaviest fastpitch bat that we have available is a 34" 26.5 oz. bat. Slow pitch bats are available in a 34" 28 oz.
K.B.
My daughter is almost 18 and will be playing in college next year. She has an older 33" 23 oz. Easton Synergy now. We are considering buying this bat in a 34" 24 oz. She is 5'6 and 155 solid lbs. Trying to decide if she should stay with 33" 23 oz. or move up to 34" 24 oz.? Softball dad
That is going to really come down to personal preference. The average size used in her height and weight range is going to be a 33", but that does not mean that she cannot swing a 34" bat.
Sean
11 year daughter that is 4'6", 75 lbs. Swings the Miken Rain 30/18 very well. Is this bat too heavy for her? greg11
Based off of your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend that she keeps swinging a 30" bat. If she is currently swinging the 30" 18 oz. very well and you feel like she can swing a bat that weighs 2 more ounces, the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat may not be too heavy for her. The weight of the bat is really going to depend on her current bat speed and strength. A 2 ounce jump will require an adjustment, but if she has a great bat speed already, the adjustment to a heavier bat will provide her with more momentum when hitting the ball.
K.B.
At what temperature is this bat limited in use? We live in Chicago. John
It is recommended that composite bats like this one not be used in temperatures colder than 55 degrees. Cold weather causes the core of the softball or baseball to become harder which can make the bat more susceptible to denting or cracking. In colder weather, I would make every effort to keep the balls warm rather than worring about keeping the bat warm.
John
Any differnce with the XENO 11X model? gucci
Louisville did upgrade the composite material in the FP12X. Their new LS-2X Composite is supposed to be stronger and just as high-performing as the iST composite used in the FP11X. Other than that, there are no major differences.
Brett
My daughter is 12 yrs old, 5'4' and 140 lbs. Which size bat should she be using? sonia
Based off of your daughter's height and weight, I would suggest a 32 inch bat. The weight of the bat depends on the strength and bat speed of your daughter and what she is currently swinging. You may use the Bat Coach on our web site to help you determine the correct bat size at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
K.B.
What do you suggest in breaking in this bat? I know it says no break-in time. Rambin
Typical composite bats require a break-in period of about 150 to 200 swings off of a hitting tee or by hitting soft toss while rotating the bat 1/4" each swing. However, the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat features S1 iD Technology, which allows for maximum performance from swing one without requiring a break-in period.
Linda
It says that the XENO is for high school and college players . . does that mean if I am in 7th grade playing JV that I do not need to get this bat? Holly
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENOs are popular among high school and college aged players, but it also makes a great bat for middle school age players.
Derek
If I am a 112 lb. 7th grader playing Junior Varsity what size bat would I need? Holly
A lot of factors go into choosing the right size bat. Without knowing what size bat you are currently using, your height, and how strong you are, I can only give a general recommendation. Most 7th graders will use a 31 or 32 inch bat with a weight between 19 and 23 ounces. To get a more specific recommendation, visit our Bat Coach online at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Derek
My daughter plays 12U but is very strong, 5'5 130 lbs. She hits home runs but is typically a line drive hitter. Is the XENO the right bat for her? Blazedad
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat is a very high performing, durable fastpitch bat. The XENO is a two-piece composite model that features an iST design that gives this bat a solid connection between the barrel and handle. iST provides players a bat with a solid feel and HUGE sweetspot.
Linda
My daughter is a 10u player, what is the lightest weight you can get the XENO in? AL
The lightest weight that we offer the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite Fastpitch bat in is a -10 oz. length to weight ratio. This particular model (FP12X) is the lightest TPS XENO that we offer.
Derek
i currently use an Easton Triple 7 31", 21.5 oz. bat. What is the differnce in my bat and the XENO? mhs softball
We don't carry the Easton Triple 7, but I did some research and from what I found the difference is the Triple 7 is a one-piece all Scandium alloy bat and the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat is a two-piece all composite bat. They will have a slightly different feel upon contact. Even though the XENO is fully composite, the TPS XENO does not require a break-in period.
Linda
My girl is 5'2" 110lbs and is a dead pull hitter, no matter how fast the pitcher is. We tried the 32" XENO and loved it! She is a strong girl with fast hands. Would you see her in a 33" or stay at 32"? Thanks for your time. Crusher
Based off of your girl's height and weight, the recommended length is a 32" bat. However, if she is hitting the 32" perfectly fine and would be more comfortable with a longer bat, she could go up to a 33" bat. If she is performing well with the 32" bat and is comfortable with the size, I would probably keep her in a 32" bat.
Sean
The XENO FP12X does not appear to have the 2012 USSSA 1.20 BPF new stamp on it. Will this bat be legal for use in 2013 per the new USSSA rule change? JJ
In 2013 USSSA sanctioned events, the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat will need the new USSSA 1.20 BPF stamp and as of 04/16/2011 this bat does not have the required stamp. For 2012, the XENO is legal for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF.
KG
Which bat is hotter, the 2011 XENO or the new 2012 XENO? Bee
There is not a big difference between the 2011 XENO and the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat. The 2012 model will have more up to date research and development put towards technology in the bat.
Kara
What does -12, -10, -9 mean on the bats? Daughter is 17 yrs. old 5'9" and 175 lbs. What size bat can she use? cat
The -12, -10, and -9 numbers are the length to weight ratio for each model. The length to weight ratio tells you how much each bat weighs. You take the length of the bat and subtract the -12, -10, or -9 and that totals the weight of the bat in ounces. For example, a 30" bat with a -10 oz. drop weighs 20 ounces. Based off of your daughter's height and weight, the recommended bat length for her is a 34" bat.
Kara
Is there any break-in suggestions or does it need to be broke it ? twosteprr
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat is constructed of Louisville Slugger's LS 2X Composite and features S1 iD technology that allows the bat to have maximum performance from swing one and does not require a break-in period.
Linda
Daughter is 14yrs old 5' 7'' 120lb. She is using a 32/22 bat. Between the XENO and the Catalyst, which would you recommend and why? mark
The Catalyst and the XENO are both great bats. The biggest difference between the two bats is that the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat is a two-piece bat and the TPS Catalyst is a one-piece design. If your daughter is a contact hitter, I would go with the XENO, but if she is a power hitter, I would go with the Catalyst.
Linda
Is this a two-piece bat or is it one-piece? bigmama
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat is a two-piece iST Composite design.
Sean
Just found out about new bat rules for 2013, so if I understand correctly this bat would only be legal for the 2012 year and then I would have to buy another bat? If so, do you offer a 2013 bat so I do not have to buy another bat after this season? Thanks darren
As of right now, we do not have the 2013 models in from Louisville Slugger. In 2013, many leagues will require the new USSSA 1.20 BPF stamp. The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat does not feature the new stamp, but is still legal for play in 2012 sanctioned events by ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF.
Ryan
What does -8,-9, and-10 mean? My daughter is 5'2" 128lbs. ozzy
The -8, -9, and -10 numbers stand for the length to weight ratio of the bat. To find the weight of a bat by using the length to weight ratio, you simply subtract the -8, -9, or -10 from the length of the bat to find the weight of the bat. For example, a 30" bat with a -10 oz. drop weighs 20 ounces.
KG
Is it NSA and ASA approved? Dale
Yes, the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and ISF sanctioned events.
John
Will there be a new model of this bat coming out anytime soon? Shannon Mac
Not at this time. Louisville Slugger has yet to release their 2013 fastpitch models. As soon as they do and we get them in stock, we will post them on our web site.
Ryan
My Daughter is 12 and she has been swinging 30/18 bat. She is 5ft and about 1-lbs. I want the best bat possible for her going into her 2nd year 12's, any suggestions? Misty
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch would be a great option. The XENO is available in a -10 oz. length to weight ratio and is a two-piece composite design that does not require a break-in period. Unlike many other composite bats, the XENO features S1 iD technology allowing maximum performance from the first swing.
KG
Can this bat be rolled? Coach Mac
Rolling any bat is illegal and will void the manufacturer's warranty.
KB
Have there been any other changes besides a new paint job from the 2011 model? Maxxdad
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat is nearly the same bat as the 2011 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite FP11X Fastpitch bat. The biggest difference between the two bats is going to be cosmetics.
Shelbe
Is this XENO bat end loaded or balanced? Aloha
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat has a balanced feel. The TPS XENO is a two-piece fully composite bat with good pop and a large sweet spot.
KG
I have a 16u DD that is small for her age but very athletic and spunky. She has very fast bat speed. Mostly a base hitter with very good batting average. She has been using a 2010 Rocketech. WE were looking to change to the Xeno. What do you think. Ken
The Xeno is a top tier bat from Louisville and would be a good choice for any hitter. For bat suggestions feel free to contact our customer service at 1-866-321--2287.
Shelbe
Will this bat be legal to use in USSSA events in 2013 and when will this bat get the new USSSA logo? cac
The Xeno does have the new 2013 USSSA stamp. At this time,we have these bats in stock and will have the new stamp. The XENO is legal for play in 2013.
KB
Is this bat okay for slapping? I've had my eye on it for a long time and then was put on the left side to slap. Will I be able to use it for slapping? amanda
Yes, you would be able to use the Xeno for slapping.
KB
Would this bat be good in cold weather? Rob
The FP12X can be used in any temperature. However, we recommend not using bats in temperatures below 45 degrees.
Kara
Does this bat have the new USSSA 1.20 stamp? ed
Yes, the Louisville Slugger XENO does have the USSSA 1.20 stamp on it.
Sean
Is it okay to use this back in the batting cages hitting those hard plastic balls? MD
We would advise not hitting the yellow dimple balls, they seem to reduce the lifespan on a bat
Sean
My daughter is 15yrs old 5'4 150lbs. She swings 33/23 -10 Rocket Tech and Speed Stealth. Would you recommmend same size for her in xeno? Sherri
The 33/23 would work well in the Xeno.
Kara
Is this bat end loaded? Does it swing a little heavy like a RockeTech? I am considering a Xeno or a Nanotech. Which do you recommend for a girl that is not a power hitter? She does not like the feel of an end loaded bat. Bob
The FP12X and the NANOFP10 are two very well balanced bats, either one of these two will be a good choice. The NANOFP10 has an alloy barrel and the FP12X has a composite barrel. Picking one over the other will be based on what the player is comfortable swinging.
Kris
What is the difference between a contact hitter and a power hitter? Missy
Contact hitters tend to concentrate on placement of the ball into the field of play. Power hitters tend to swing for distance on their hits, whether it be a homerun or deep ball hit.
Derek
Do you not offer this bat in a size 30/20? j
The TPS Xeno is produced in a 30" and 20oz. As of April 9th, 2012 we are currently out of stock but the bat is still shown as an inline product. Once we have that size available then it will be listed on the website.
John
What are the differences between the 2012 and 2013 Xeno bat. My daughter is 15 currently uses RockeTech - she is 5'7" and 129 lbs. Great bat speed...we are thinking 33" bat - yes? FishHook
Unfortunately, Louisville hasn't released the specs yet for their 2013 Xeno. Louisville's 2013 fastpitch line should be on the market this Fall, but an exact date has not been established yet. Based on her size,a 33 inch model would be a great option.
Tyler
I have a 10 year old with good hand speed. She has been swinging a Easton Synge 29" -11.5 drop for 2 years. She is now 54" and 88 lbs. Is going up to a 31/21 going to be too big of an adjustment for her? JonA
In my opinion, that's a pretty big jump. However, it is hard for me to say whether it is too much without being able to see and analyze her swing with different size bats. Based on her height, weight, and the size bat she's been using, I would recommend a 30 inch bat with a weight between 18 and 20 ounces.
Tyler
MY 14 OLD NEEDS A BAT. SHE'S 5'2" 130lbs. WHAT SIZE WOULD SHE NEED? She likes the new Xeno 2012 JP
Based on her height and weight a 32 inch model would be recommended. The Xeno is a great bat with tons of pop. A 32 inch 22 ounce model should be a good size for her.
Tyler
Is the Xeno an endloaded bat or a balanced bat? ktb68
The weight is distributed evenly in the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO. This gives the bat a balanced feel.
Jennifer
My daughter is 5'5" and 170 14 year old. What size bat does she need? poodle
Based on her height and weight, a 34 inch bat with a weight between 24 and 26 ounces would be recommended.

Kara
Our coach has bought the TCB Total Control ORIGINAL Weighted Batting Balls. Is it alright to hit these with the Xeno? sberry1
I really wouldn't recommend using any bat with a any weighted baseball or softball. Weighted balls have been known to cause damage to bats. If you do use them, I wouldn't go over 15-20 hits via tee work or soft toss.
Tyler
Does the disc inside the bat limit it from getting any hotter ? Can it be taken out ? vince
The governor disc inside the bat does not prevent the bat from getting hotter. The governor actually allows the bat to flex to its maximum performance. The disc cannot be taken out.
Kara
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth play? Johh
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO is not approved for Babe Ruth.
Kara
Should the Xeno be rolled or not? belue
No. We never recommend you roll any bat.
Tyler
Is the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite FP12X fastpitch a double or triple or multi wall bat? We are having an issue and need a direct answer to this Mar
Confusion is very abundant when it comes to single-wall and double-wall bats. The terms single-wall and double-wall traditionally referred to aluminum bats only, not composite bats. All composite bats (like the Xeno) are comprised of multiple layers of composite material, but are deemed by most organizations as single wall bats. Also, the terms double-wall, triple-wall and multi-wall are really one in the same.
Tyler
Can you use this bat in pitching practice hitting of a pitching machine using dimpled balls or will it kill this bat? I have been told by some coaches not to use a composite bat on a pitching machine with dimpled balls. Will it ruin this bat? Supersport396
Composite bats like the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite should not be used in a batting cage that uses yellow dimpled balls. The dimpled balls are too dense and can damage the composite material.
Kara
Will this bat be USSSA certified in 2013? pop
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS Xeno does have the new USSSA thumbprint. This model would be approved for USSSA play in 2013.
John

Tom
Will this bat be legal for ASA in 2013? Whit
Yes. The Xeno FP12X is an ASA approved bat that will be legal next year.

Damon
Is this bat approved by the ASA? pete g
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite is ASA approved.
Kara
Is it safe to use this bat on dimpled balls in the batting cage? hailey
We would not recommend the Louisville Slugger Xeno FP12X be used with those dimpled batting cage balls. These can be very dense and are known to cause damage to any bat. It's always recommended to use real softballs in batting practice.
Tyler
My 11 yr old daughter swings this bat. 32/22. Virtually the rest of her team swings the 2012 cf5. she is lead off hitter, 5'0 95#,4th on team in batting avg, 1st in home runs. she's very fast (primaraly why she's 4th in avg). she hits a alot of ground balls off of handle or end. The girls swinging the cf5 seem to hit alot more fly balls. Is this anythiong to do with the bats or primarily my daughters swing? Sometimes I feel like I chose wrong bat. Any ideas. Thinking about trying a 2013 cf5 cjmac
The bat a player uses has nothing to do with hitting pop flys, grounders, line-drives, etc... That is based on the player's swing. The Xeno and CF5 are both top of the line bats that sell great.
Tyler
Does it come 33" 23 oz? Alli
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite is only available in a 30" 20 oz and a 32" 22 oz. The XENO is discontinued and we will not be receiving more stock of the 33" 23 oz.

Kara

Tom

Based on her height and weight, a 32" bat is recommended with a weight between 21 and 24 ounces. The Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X has just a slight endloaded feel.
Tyler

John
What is it made out of (elements or type of materials)? ?
The Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite: FP12X Fastpitch bat will be a two-piece fully composite design made from different carbon fibers, and resins that will help this bat be super high performing.
Brandon
My daughter used this bat once and now it rattles. Why is it broken? cp21
Bats such as the Louisville Slugger TPS XENO Composite Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP12X feature a composite barrel as well as a plastic end cap. Most composite barrel bats are injected with a resin material to make the bats weigh the required amount to pass the testing parameters. As well, the plastic end caps are sealed to the barrel using an adhesive that is typically over applied to ensure the end cap stays on the barrel during use. What typically happens, is the excess adhesive or some of the resin will chip away from the inner walls after drying and during first usage. Often times it will sound like pebbles or grains of sand. This will not affect performance but may draw the attention of the umpire.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
