Pros: Just purchased the salvo.Played twice since received. Can't keep team mates hands off of it. Performance good and gettintg better with every hit. Still cold in MD. Can't wait for 70+ degree weather.I pitty 3rd base and pitchers. They better start wearing armor.I was a double wall fenatic, but it looks like I could be won over to the composite side.

Pros: Great feel. Good cushion hand grip. Really good 'pop' off the bat on the sweet spot. Many guys on the team tried it and have switched to using it over their own bats!

Cons: The painted logo seems pretty thick and is easily scratched as the bat hits the ground.The price ($200.00)also seems a bit high, but I guess that's just the going rate for a good bat.

Pros: This bat feels nicely weighted, and right out of the wrapper balls hit off the sweet spot jump.

Cons: So far (2 weeks) balls that are slightly mis-hit, where I don't quite catch the sweet spot, go nowhere and those hits sting a little. Hopefully as the bat gets broken in those slight mis-hits will become a little better.

Pros: very comfortable bat .it feels great on contact.the grip is great but was filthy as soon as it came out of box I have not had it rolled yet but it wasn't bad out of wrapper,but much better after only one game.The girls were ripping base hits where it would have been ground outs before.Cant wait for it to open up.Arrived on west coast ahead of schedule with free shipping!!!!

Pros: Hottest bat i've EVER used out of the wrapper. First at bat 300ft plus in a cross wind approx 10mph(i honestly mean first at bat, no warm up swings). Fifth and Sixth at bat 2 more 300 ft plus bombs with wet, semi-soggy balls. Undoubtedly a bargain for $240, you won't go wrong.I chose a 26oz, maybe should have went with the 27oz.

Cons: Maybe the color? Who really cares with this kind of performance.Some cats were making fun of the orange and white

Pros: This bat is a homerun waiting to happen. In the 4 games its been used in, it has seen 7 homeruns. I mishit a ball yesterday and swore as I jogged to first thinking it was an easy flyout, then I realized it carried out of the park. Bottom line is: get this bat while you can.

Cons: Everyone complains about the grip. All you need to do is be smart about it. I use football gloves w. this bat and the grip is great. For my teamates who dont use gloves, I got black athletic tape and spiraled it on the grip (it looks and feels much better - - no slip at all)

Pros: A teamate in my last tourny had just purchased about 3 weeks before and I swung that against my 3 MONTH old Freak DST and the difference was INCREDABLE!!! before i swung the salvo i was strictly miken..... and the Salvo has opened my eyes.... by far the best bat i have ever and i mean EVER hit!!!! sweet spot was huge and the sound it makes is just music!

Pros: The Salvo was hot right out of the wrapper and provided some very good thump. It shipped quickly and arrived ahead of schedule. The grip has a nice feel to it and the bat is weighted perfectly.

Cons: Obviously the price, but if you want a legit bat nowadays it's $200+ or bust. Overall I've got no complaints. I've read about it wearing out with too much use, but nothing bothersome for us yet.

Pros: Great bat for the price! I used one several times, before I bought my own. Hits very hard and has a good size sweet spot

Cons: Takes some time to break in. I wouldn't go right to a game right out of the wrapper. Use it for BP and beat the heck out of it with a rubber mallet and she tunes just fine. The grip is horrible if you don't wear gloves. It will get sweaty and slippery, then it'll slip and go flying into the infield.

Pros: just bought today fresh out of the plastic, and i crank my first 2 times at bat to just about the fence at the 300ft mark. if thats not impressive i dont know what is. this bat has a great feel, great pop @ connection, and strait crushes the ball. i can only imagine what this bat will do when its broken in. its a HR beast..better yet they should have named it " the HULK" dont make it angry..lol

Cons: Its like a dorito...once you pop...it wont stop..seriously first day ..brand new...and half my team was using it. over mikens and various other choices.

Pros: The bat took a couple of rounds of batting practice and a few games to get hot but when it did it felt very good. For the price of the bat you can't go wrong. This is one of the best easton bats i have ever owned and easton really never seemed to thrill me. But this bat seems to be so far so good.

Pros: this bat for $199 is going to be one of the hottest bats out for 2011, it has a very generous sweet spot slight end load. I'm not a real big guy only about 170 but was hitting 300's + easy fresh out of the wrapper it's going to be one of my best bat's at a much cheaper price than any of my other bat's highly recommend to any type of hitter.

Cons: The white grip was dirty the first few rounds of bp but it's an easy fix.

Pros: Bought 3 bats for a lower league tourney and the guy's loved them. They were the only bats allowed they were allowed to play with. After 8 games and 60 hits per game they held up great. The winning team got one, I sold the other (could have sold 5 if I had had them) and I kept the other for myself. Paint on the handle knob could be better, but overall very satisfied.

Pros: Needed a new ASA approved bat after my synergy finally shot craps. The salvo is awesome. Fairly decent pop out of the wrapper (averaging anywhere between 275'-290'); but after a few dozen off the tee, the bat's performing unbelievably well. First 3 hits were over a 300' fence. Definitely a great bat. That's not even considering all the compliments i'm getting on how great the bat looks.

Cons: First dozen off the tee made me realize batting gloves are a necessity for the grip it comes with. The grip also needs a good wipe down after each use just to keep it clean.

Pros: OH wow.. this bat is wayy hot. I'm not a big power hitter so no bombs for me yet but had a teammate use it last night. he hit an absolute missle over the fence (300 ft). If you dont have one, get one. If you dont you are missing out.

Pros: Hottest bad out of the wrapper that I have ever swung.Three balls off the fence at 300 ft and then the bat seemed to really come to life after about 20 swings.I am not a power hitter but with this bat you really can't help but put it over the fence. I am going to buy another one in a few weeks because you are not going to be able to find these come the spring time.

Cons: not really a complaint just a heads up if you are thinking of buying one. if you get a 27ounce you are going to swear you are swining a 26.It swings alot lighter than the weight indicates.

Pros: Power. I have always had pull power out of the park. First at bat, right out of the wrapper I hit the opposite field fence. Second at bat went yard opposite field. Two team mates also raved about the pop right out of the wrapper and are going to add this bat to there collection.

Cons: I am not a big fan of the grip. The white padded tape doesn't feel durable. i will probably re-tape this bat before next season.

Pros: the bat is absolutly a beast. we got one of these midway thru the season and several teams from our league challenged our bats. we had them banned for one game until we could prove to the league the salvo was legit. the other squad we mercied 18 to 3 couldnt belive we had that power all of a suden. that should tell ya something rite there. our whole league thought we were cheating. the bat is sick

Pros: Last year playing fall ball,bunch of guys using the Salvo 27 oz., crushing homerun after homerun.finally tried the bat and could not believe the pop and distance on this bat. even the mis-hits were great line drives,went out and bought 2 of them right away. this bat feels like a usssa bat , no question, one of the best bats ever swung. not sure about the salvo's without the orange dot.the one the team was using had the orange.worth Mayham 98 and the NRG 98 have nothing on this bat ....

Pros: We used this bat as a replacement for the Freak 98 which finally gave out on us. Only thing to say is my whole team digs this bat. Great feel, great pop and great all around bat by Easton. I have some MONSTER HR's come off this bat. Well worth the $199

Pros: I told my team that I was the first to swing with this bat because I paid for it. First at bat, first swing, going, going gone. Fresh out of the wrapper and I hit a bomb. 6 more home runs from my team with this bat. If you are going to buy a bat, this should be it. Guys on the team are going to buy this bat. Pros: This sure doesn't hit like a 200 dollar bat....I bought one last week and finally took it out to hit off a tee....first 20 or so hits were decent but after another 20 the bat woke up.....never used easton I've always hit demarini....not anymore....oh and I'm buying two more of these before they disappear

Pros: Of all the composite bats I have used this one is a beast. I never hit home runs and I did a few times with this one . Line drives have too much zip for infielders to handle...

Cons: Like a lot of power bats ur asking for long out when you use this bat cause everyone see it and backs up . Also I tend to pop up a lot u have to really find its spot. It's a do or die bat. It's still my top choice tho

Pros: Straight out of the wrapper-1st at bat line shot to left field, 2nd at bat-its outta here, DEAD CENTER field (and im no where near a home run hitter!!)...2 more shots out the park, one a rope down left field, another OVER the trees- quickly became the TEAM bat- even over MIKEN FREAK!! Pros: HOT BAT! I know there are over 100 reviews on here saying the same thing, but I'm telling you folks this will be the best $200.00 you've ever spent on a bat. After the 1st two games using "team" Walmart bats I decided to get this baby and last night drove the first pitch I saw to the fence and didn't even really connect with it all that great! The ball literally JUMPS off this thing! 10 STARS!!!!!

Pros: As others said, it has pop out of the wrapper. My FIRST swing put the ball off the fence at 277ft. I can't wait for it to break in. EVERYONE in my coed team started using it since at 34/27oz it swings light. Everyone was getting solid hits with it. Definitely delivers. I can't wait until we get more swings in to loosen it up some more.

Pros: This bat warmed up quick and definitely has a balanced swing feel to it and moves effortlessly through the ball. Added about 25' from a junky walmart easton cyclone without breaking it in.

Cons: Well, the FIRST day I used it I broke it. Something came loose inside and is making a rattling sound. Maybe 50 hits in before this happened in an ASA game.

Pros: everything about this bats a pro. the paint looks great, its got a great sweetspot im not even a hundred hits into the bat and hitting the warning track(275ft) (im not a power hitter, i put it in play shallow outfield so its great being able to put it over people when they move in on you) its end loaded for the extra power.

Pros: Great from the get go. Bought this as a Mothers day gift from my kids. Have had nothing but good luck with it. Harder and father line drives. I play on a Coed team and have converted many of my teammates from Miken and Demarini to EASTON. I was actually surfing for a Demarini after my EASTON ZCORE finally broke and just stumpled on this one. I have the Stealth Speed XL SSR2 as well and they are the bats fought over. Great sweet spot, balanced well. Has a good grip. I saw some Cons on the white grip, your playing in the dirt, what do you expect. Great bat for the price!

Pros: Bought it last weekend. First game was Monday, and played with it straight out of the wrapper, as did most of my team. No HR's, but a few close calls. Took it to BP last night, and wow, we were tearing it up. Line drives hitting the fence, some for HR's. Hit a few planes (sarcasm) on some HR's. Put one about 300+. And it's not even really broken it yet! Great pop.

Cons: Grip is somewhat sticky, but who cares? Wear a batting glove. Only problem I've seen is that everyone else will drop their bats and start using this one.

Cons: All the bats are 34 in therefore the wall on the 30 oz. seems a lil thicker and harder to hit with and to break in than the lighter salvo's. So make sure you have the right weight. I suggest estimating down rather than up because of the end load.

Pros: The bat arrived the afternoon of our 1st game, and I didn't have a chance to hit bp with it. I hit hard grounders the first 2 a.b.s and then a couple of liners up the middle. I wasn't expecting much with a new bat, but by the second game we started hitting 310'-315' hr's. Even unbroken in, this is easily the best bat we have.

Pros: Great pop but needs a little break in. The third sway was a huge 375 ft. homer.After about 200 hits the team is absolutely crushing the ball. Worth every penny. I also used a bat mallet for most of the break in.

Pros: I did a lot of research before deciding on the salvo as the bat for my team. It might be the smartest thing I've done. I'm a line drive hitter and while I haven't hit a homerun, I have noticed some extra distance. The Salvo is highly recommended. The hype is justified.

Cons: Not neccessarily a con, the bat took a bit of breaking in but not as much as other bats I've used.

Pros: Bat is unbelievable .. Bat feels solid right out of the wrapper. Took about 50 - 100 hits at a practice and then the ball started flying over the fence. For the price, this bat is a must buy!

Pros: great out of the wrapper..even better when broken in...graphics are awesome. one recommendation is if your not sure what weight you like, i would suggest a 26oz..i have a 28oz and its amazing how different 2oz's makes that much of a difference. but my whole team toggles between that bat and a mike

Pros: Love this bat. For the price you can't beat the salvo. It is hot out of the wrapper but it definitely gets hotter with more swings. First bp I put 3 out with it, and quite a few pop ups. Last week we had our 5th and final bp and out of 35 pitches i put 15 out and 6 screamers off the fence. This bat will hit bombs, but if you are a hard line drive hitter, you will fall in love with this bat.

Pros: This is a nice bat. Im killing it with this bat. Never hit this many out. This is a sweet hitting bat. Now even the guys that have paid big money on other bats are using my bat. This has become a team bat and its still holding up after 2 years and alot of hits on it.

Cons: some people say hot out of wrapper but after couple hundred this bat really started taking off.

Pros: Im only gonna leave a short review right now as I only got to use it for about 6 games so far and it only has about 300 hits on it. About half my team prefers it. It has good pop, ground usually fly by the infielders before they ever get a chance to react. It's getting hotter as it gets more use and the weather warms up. I will leave a more accurate review half way through the summer league as I know its only gonna get better over time.

Cons: My only complaint is that I have heard rumors that this bat will no longer be legal in ASA governed leagues and thats what I play in. If I would have known this before I bought the bat I would have probably gone a different route.

Pros: This is an awesome bat. The sound and the feel are perfect. I am not a HR hitter but i have some pop maybe 5 Hr's a season but this bat really opens the field up for me. It gives me the ability to use the whole field. It is just as good hitting line drives as it is for power. Most of the team uses this bat now. (the others use the Red Miken II) It really opened up after 300 hits and the temp the better. I have well over 500 hits and it still looks and feels good.

Cons: Not as hot as people say out of the wrapper, with that said, don't give up on it because it gets much better after 50 to 100 hits.

Pros: i have a 28oz and its very light and easy to swing. awesome awesome pop out of wrapper.

Cons: white tape not smart was dirty before i could get it out of the store. got about 100 swings on it before it started to make a rattle sound about halfway up the bat sending it back for a new one.

Pros: Great bat that was pretty hot out of the wrapper, but does need to be broke in. When I first took it out I hit a couple that went 300+ and a lot of great line drive base hits. I've been hitting balls off a tee with it to get it broke in and in our game last night I kept them on the ground for base hits so I haven't tried for distance since I've hit more with it, but the grounders were hot and squeeze through the infield with eeze. This is a great hybrid bat that will get you base hits or take it out if you need it.

Cons: None so far.

Pros: I used the 28oz and it was absolutely awesome. 1st at bat I hit a line drive homerun and 2nd ab a liner that nearly killed a poor 3rdbaseman. Thank god he had quick reflexes. This bat wear is name : it hits like a canon shot. It was used for 3 games before I used it. So if it was not broke in.... wow when it does. Great feel, great sound.

Cons: It was a friend's bat, not mine so now I need to find one !!

Pros: Great bat for a great price. Has great pop even before breaking it in. I'm a line drive hitter and this bat fits me perfectly.

Cons: I wouldn't use this as a team bat. Our team bought one and it's already on its last leg in a half of a season. If you use it as your personal bat you will really enjoy it.

The Easton Salvo: SRV5 is fairly hot right out of the wrapper. To ensure that you get the maxiumum lifespan out of the bat, it is recommended that you take about 20-30 half swings while rotating the bat in your hands to maximize the performance of the carbon fibers in the barrel.

Easton has not actually come out and said that there is a difference in performance between the Salvo with the black cap as opposed to the orange cap. However, the orange cap does provide the bat with a little more durability, since it is made of more rubbery material for flexibility in the composition of the barrel at impact with the ball.

We have heard no such rumors, especially from some of the larger governing bodies (ASA, USSSA, NSA, etc.) There's always a possibility that the governing bodies will update their bat standards, requiring all bats to meet a new set of performance standards.

What is the best way of breaking in this bat? I may be protective of it's use, limiting the break in period. I heard batting cages are bad. Would a tee be good, or is there some other method outside of using machines or rollers? L-Zoron

Slow pitch composite bats typically don't require an as extensive break in period as baseball bats. I've always just broken my slow pitch bats in by taking them to the field and taking about 25 hits at about 50% power. Then another 25-50 hits around 75% power. After that, I take full swings. You can use a tee if you want, but I've always just taken live pitches (albeit at a slower than average pitch speed). Also, make sure you rotate the bat about a quarter of an inch in your hands between every hit. This will ensure the entire surface of the barrel is broken in evenly.

Follow up question - I heard batting cages are bad, and void manufacturers warranties. Is this true, both being bad on the bat and voiding waranty? Could you do 50-75% swings in the cage? Or should I just avoid it completely? L-Zoron

The only thing to stay away from are those yellow dimpled balls often used in batting cages. These are very dense and are known to cause damage to the bat. The dimpled pitching machine balls often leave distinct marks on the bat and I've heard of some (not all) manufacturers voiding the warranty because of this. If your batting cage uses real, leather softballs then it is okay. However, I always recommend limiting the usage of your game bat in the batting cages.

This is something that happens sometimes with the bats. This is why each bat comes with a one-year warranty through the manufacture. The Easton Salvo has had a history of being a very durable bat.

i play mens fast pitch softball and we use clincher f12 gold which is harder than the regular clincher. I've been unlucky with bats so far. I'm about $400 in the hole this bat was my original choice but it was on back order so i didnt wait is this bat good for this kind of ball. please help. Batless Batter

If you're using Clincher F12 softballs, I would recommend a single-wall alloy bat like the DeMarini Ultimate Weapon, Easton Rival or Anderson KSP. With these type of softballs, you're not going to see any advantage using a mid to high-end composite bat compared to a solid single-wall alloy bat. The Salvo may work just fine, but from my experience, single-wall alloy bats have always performed just as well and have displayed more durability when using balls like the F12 Clincher.

You should be okay with the Easton Salvo SRV5, but I would double check your league rules before making a purchase. From feedback I've gotten, single wall alloy bats are great in leagues that use F12 Clincher softballs, but I'm sure the SRV5 would also work well.

With any composite bat there is a chance of paint chipping. Because as the composite fibers expand with use, they sometimes expand to the point of spider cracks and chips. I wouldn't warranty just a paint issue, as it does not affect the performance of the bat. Save the warranty for cracks and breaks in the bat itself, that do affect the performance and safety.

The Easton Salvo is a bit end loaded for your stronger hitters when the scx3 was designed with a very balanced swing weight. Otherwise they are both one-piece composite bats with great pop.

I finally used my Easton Salvo in during one of my softball games this past sunday and after only about 10-15 swings of the bat people were telling me that the bat was done. I guess it had a rattling sound coming from inside the barrel after you would tap the end of the barrel on the cement. It wasnt any sound I have ever heard with a bat, but this is my first bat I have purchased since buying my Easton Stealth back in 2007. Is this normal for the bat? Some are saying this is part of the bat being broken in and it only gets better as I hit with it. Mo

Yes, both bits of info you've been given are accurate. What happens as a bat gets broken in, the carbon fibers spread and expand, which is what makes the ball pop off the bat faster. Now that said, there are occasions when a piece of the carbon material may come loose, which is what the rattle is. It will not affect the integrity of the bat. If you believe the bat is done, you are covered by an Easton warranty, just give us a call and our rep will go through the warranty info with you.

The sound is normal. Composite bats, as they break in, the composite fibers expand. As they expand the sound changes. If they have only been used in 4 games, they aren't broken in all the way yet.

It is hard to say which is better. The Easton Salvo has a composite hitting surface, whereas the Easton CV12 has an aluminum hitting surface. The composite material on the Salvo might have more "pop" due to the trampoline effect it creates, but both are slightly end loaded and are great bats.

The Easton Salvo will have a slightly more end loaded feel than the DeMarini Vexxum. However, it's not that much more end loaded in my opinion. I honestly think you'll be fine sticking with a 30 oz. Salvo, especially if you have above average swing speed with your 30 oz. Vexxum. I feel if you go down to a 28 oz. Salvo, you may not reap the full benefits of it's slightly endloaded design.

If you are playing in ASA, then the Easton Salvo will still be legal next year. Only USSSA is requiring a new certification stamp for next year.

The 2015 Miken DC-41 SuperMax (BTGDCU) will be very similar. This model will be a two-piece composite, and will also incorporate a slight end-load design as well. It will be very durable and high performing. Therefore, I would recommend taking a closer look at it.
