Description

Introducing the DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVDR! DeMarini isn't satisfied just having one of the top selling bats in the game. They want to give players the most DOMINANT bat in the game. With this season's Voodoo, they've done just that. The two-piece DeMarini Voodoo Paradox draws its name from its new Paradox Composite handle. This fresh new technology creates an even stiffer handle than in years past. When combined with the Voodoo's X10 Alloy thickness-tuned barrel, this bat becomes ultra-responsive. The X10 Alloy used on the barrel is finely tuned and shaped to provide the thinnest walls, allowing the barrel to be lighter and have a larger than sweet spot than ever before! The Voodoo also includes the technology that put DeMarini on the map - Half + Half - and it's going to make your swing stronger! At the end of the barrel, DeMarini's ION V End Cap eliminates vibration by pushing energy back into the barrel for maximum power leading to great pop of the bat. On the other end, DeMarini introduces their new RCK (Really Cool Knob). This anatomically correct knob may be a small addition, but makes a huge impact by letting the bat rest comfortably in your bottom hand so that you don't feel a thing. Better feel, stiffer construction, more power - that's the Voodoo Paradox! DeMarini: Born Hardcore! The DeMarini Voodoo: WTDXVDR features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: I just got this bat(32in 23oz.)a few days ago. It has great pop and went above and beyond my expectations. I recomend this bat to anyone looking for a bat with great pop, balanced feel, and half-half technology.

Cons: Hard to hit inside pitches but one down the middle is long gone.

Pros: If your kid is a slugger, this is the bat he needs. I have a big 10 almost 11 year old who used the Combat B2 DaBomb for for three years. That bat was fantastic, but it was time for him to graduate to the next level of batting technology. I learned that end loaded bats are better for sluggers so I took my chances on the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo. That was the best decision. The first time using the bat my son hit two 185 foot line drives and his third hit was 190 foot grounder. Our youth umpires like to call outside strike one or two balls out of the zone, but that was no problem for my son. The bat is 32" 23 oz. which gives him plenty of reach for outside pitches. Anecdotally, the sound off this bat is a beautiful aluminum ping when used properly by the batter. If I had three thumbs, they would all be up for this bat.

Cons: This bat is definitely on the pricey side, but if you are wanting to put the best hardware in your sons hands, you're going to have to put down the extra bucks. What is interesting is the number of other players who are borrowing my son's bat after seeing what he can do with it.

Tony Mann #55

Pros: Just received this bat yesterday for my 11 year old. He wanted the 32/23 and he is 5'3" 125 lbs. We just went to the park and he hit 3 HR's and multiple shots to the fence. He is a power hitter but this bat just put him over the top! I usually do not get excited and believe hype on products but this bat is unreal! He was swinging the DeMarini Distance which was a cheap bat and no pop. He is extremely excited to put it in play during a game! DeMarini has definitely gone over the top with this bat! I highly recommend it if your son is a power hitter as the end load is perfect!

Cons: Not a one!

Pros: My son used the Voodoo last year and hit line drives everywhere. He moved to a -10 balanced bat this season and struggled. I bought him this 2014 Voodoo and he started raking again. Had the July of his life and moved from contact hitting to hitting line drives and even clearing the fence. My son is 12u and says it is the best bat he's used...and we buy lots of bats. This year he started with the 2013 CF5, moved to the Black2, went back to the 2014 CF5, and finished the season with this 2014 Voodoo. Wish we could have just started with this and his season would have been epic. Bat he used to have a fantastic Cooperstown tournament (we won our week). Only reason I will change now is to get the same bat only bigger next year. Get it!

2014 Demarini Voodoo Bryan coach

Pros: I am a coach of a 13u select team. This bat has more pop than any other bat we have on our team. It is definitely an end loaded bat, not a balanced bat. A good bat for a power hitter more than it is for a contact hitter that is looking to increase bat speed. The sweet spot on this bat is massive. The ball explodes off the bat. It has a nice grip and the RCK knob is really comfortable. I would definitely recommend this bat.

Cons: Good bat for a player looking for more power but not for a contact hitter looking for more bat speed.

My boy is LOVING this Bat! NobodyImportant coach

Pros: Great pop and sound off the sweet spot. My son is swinging this bat better than any other bat he has owned. The end loaded Voodoo is providing more power through his impact zone. Unwrapped it on a Friday…Played his first tournament starting the next day. He went 3/5 (and 4 walks) with 3 hard doubles to the wall. Could have been a fourth double if not for a great catch by the center fielder. Great pop and feel from the first swing. I don't know if it is just a mental advantage because of a new bat, or the balance of the bat is making the difference…all I can tell you is that the ball flies off the sweet spot of this bat. My contact / base hitter has become a power hitter with the Voodoo in his hands.

Cons: Everyone on his team was begging to swing his new bat

Wow! Jon coach

Pros: I just got a 31" 2014 DeMarini Voodoo DXVDR -9 for my 12 year old son, who is 5'4", 130 lbs. Wow! The ball comes off the bat so much faster than any of his previous composite bats. It is beautiful and feels solid and well made. Coming from a -11, I was a little concerned about the -9, but he swings this bat at least as fast as his -11. He says it is the "best improvement in a new bat I've ever had!"

Great Bat Paul coach

Pros: Balance and overall feel. Grip tape. Improved knob. This bat has worked out great for my son. He is 5' 4" and about 130 lbs. He has very good power, but swing speed has been an issue. He plays 12U travel and was having trouble catching up to some of the faster pitchers. The 30/21 has helped a lot. I know it is a matter of technique and not merely the bat, but he has really come around with this one. He loves the more rounded knob and says it is the most comfortable bat he has swung.

Best bat ever!!! JB User player

Pros: I was having trouble with my swing for a while, but I got this bat one day before my tournament at BLD. I was the first in the order and first up of the game, I got 2 singles, 1 double 1 triple and 1 homerun I was never a power hitter but now I'm one of the best hitters on my team, this is the best bat I have ever had. very Satisfied! Ethan's Dad parent

Pros: My son has had the VooDoo for almost 6 months now and he has played in 3 travel tournaments and is finishing regular PARD season. I can say this bat has exceeded our expectations. The bat has a great feel to it as well as looks cool but more than anything, rarely, rarely do you ever get any vibrations. It has very good pop with a hood size sweet spot. We enjoyed the Vexxum we bought last year very much and it may have a slight more pop than the VooDoo but i would highly recommend the VooDoo by far over it. I wish I had more experience with other bats, but i do not. I am familiar with the S3 but they seem to dent after a little use. If you are looking for a good bat for your son and you dont want to spend $300+ then get the VooDoo and will not be disappointed!

Tons of pop Coach Art coach

Pros: Bought the youth 29 / -13 model for my 10 yr old (70 lbs )... No lie, he hit a Homerun with this bat the 1st game he used it... The other kids on the team have been trying it out and now most of them want to use this bat in the game too. My son says the bat feels great to swing and it has awesome pop... My son loves this bat so much he says he has a "special bond" with his bat... LOL!!!!

Cons: The only con is this bat is so GOOD that now all the other kids on the team love using my son's bat too and I am worried it is going to lose it's pop faster now... But, we got a Little League Tournament of Champions to win ( I am a coach) so I can live with it getting used up faster by the other kids.... Go Silverado LL Minors Braves!!!

Pros: Solid bat all around, great pop, no sting

Cons: End loaded, so you need a bit more strength or size to get it around. I bought a 29" for my son who plays 10u travel that is 4'4" and weighs 60 lbs but is very fit and strong for his size. It slowed his swing down a bit so we retired this bat til next year. He absolutly loves this bat and was crushing it in BP but in game situations it was just a bit too big.

VOODOO Harrah parent

Pros: Simply an amazing bat! Supposedly end loaded, can barely tell. My son uses the 2 5/8, 30/21 and this has been the best bat he has ever used. Give your son a test run with this one, and he will most likely not want to try another. Graphics are very eye catching. Ideal for a #4 hitter in the lineup, although contact hitters would love it too. Give this BEAST a try, i doubt you will regret it.

Twashington Twashington coach

Pros: Purchased this bat for my 12 year old who I thought was a power hitter, but I am certain he is now. It was a crazy transformation. The ball didn't have a chance. Down the middle or even a little outside he drove it further than he had ever before. It sounds great coming of the bat. Don't second guess it, this is the perfect bat. He hit home run after home run with this bat. 5 in Cooperstown.

Cons: Tough with inside pitches, but unless the player opens up and adjusts to the pitch, what bat is good with inside pitches.

Whether or not you should use an end loaded bat can really only be determined through experience. It's more dependent on your strength than height and weight. End loaded bats, like the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDR Senior League, are best used by players with higher swing speeds ie Power Hitters.
Mac

My son is 9 years old, about 5' and 90 lbs. He is a power hitter with good bat speed and power to spare. Last year he shattered a Marucci Team bat and the ball still cleared the fence. He plays for a USSSA travel tournament team. Is there a better bat on the market than this one for him? What size would you recommend? IrishBaseball
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDR Senior League would be a good choice for a power hitter because it is slightly end loaded. The 2014 Easton XL series and the 2014 Rawlings TRIO End-Load would also both be good choices for power hitters. Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend using a 30'' bat. For more information on sizing please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/

Can my son use it Pinto League? mark
Pinto League is 4-8 years old. Pinto League allows 2 1/4" to 2 5/8" barrels. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDR Senior League would be legal but would probably be to heavy of a bat for that age group.
Damon
Can this bat be used under 55 degrees? PK

John
How does this bat compare to the Louisville Slugger Exogrid3? veegster

Tessa L.

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) and the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD (DXVDR) use the same alloy and composite materials. They are both end loaded as well. The only difference it the OVERLORD features new d-fusion technology to reduce vibration.
Kara

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDR Senior League will compare very similarly to the Easton XL-Series of bats. They both will feature a barrel heavy end loaded deign, typically loved by power guys.
Brandon

If the bat has an alloy barrel, like the Voodoo, it can be any length to weight ratio.

Kara
What would you prefer for a power hitter? The DeMarini Voodoo or the Easton XL1? sluggers
The DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) and the Easton XL1 (SL14X18) are both great options for power hitters. Both bats feature an end loaded design that power hitters tend to prefer. The difference between the two would be in their construction. The XL1 is a two piece fully composite design with a composite barrel and handle. The Voodoo is a hybrid design with an alloy barrel and a composite handle. The Voodoo will be hotter out of the wrapper whereas the XL1 will require some break in time to reach its full potential. It is a matter of personal preference which barrel material you prefer but both will be high performing options.
Patrick
About how long will this bat take to ship? loweball

Patrick
My son is 8, 51" tall and 56 lbs. He swings the Easton 28" 18 oz. -10 well. Do you think there is a big difference in the Voodoo 28" 19 oz. -9? Both of these bats are the big barrel senior league bats. chris
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) is an end loaded bat. We typically don't recommend an end loaded bat for his age. The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVXR) would be a better option for his age.
Kara
My son hits for power with great contact because of his swing speed. What bat should I buy, this 2014 Voodoo or the Easton S3? He previously owned the Rival, CF5, and the old Easton Stealth. He is 5'1". and 104 lbs, 11U player. Coach Rock
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) is an end loaded bat and designed for a power hitter. The Easton S3 can also used by a power hitter because of the one-piece design. The S3 replaced the Easton Rival in will be similar in feel and performance.
Kara
Are there any -9 aluminum bats? Pierce
This 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) Senior League bat features an alloy/aluminum barrel and composite handle. But if you were looking for a -9 model that was fully alloy/aluminum, we do carry a few models: http://goo.gl/Qv3zxQ

My son is 12 and in Little League's 50/70 division. He is 5'4" and weighs 135. He hits both for average and power. I am considering this 2014 Voodoo -9 or the 2014 Vexxum -10. Which is the better bat? Jon
Both the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR Senior League) and the DeMarini Vexxum would be great options. The Voodoo is a an end loaded model made for power hitters. The Vexxum is a more balanced model designed for contact hitters. Based on your son being both a contact and power hitter, I would go with the Vexxum.
Justin R.
My son is 13 years old, weighs 130 and is 5'6". This is his second year playing and is more of a contact hitter, but has flashes of power every now and again. Would a 30/21 be to small of a bat for him or should I get him a 31/22. He'll be going into high school next year and was told they use drop 3. Alberto
I would probably recommend having him swing a 31" model. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDR Senior League is a -9 model, which may be too light, since he will have to transition to a -3 next year. I would recommend going with at least a -8 model, probably more like a -5 to get him ready for next year. To help with the heavier bats, I would recommend going with a balanced bat, especially since he is more of a contact hitter.
Justin R.
Does this bat require a break-in period or not? Jon
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDR Senior League does not require a break-in period. The aluminum design on the barrel makes it hot right of the wrapper and ready to use in the game.
Justin R.
I am 13 and in 7th grade. I have this bat in a 32 inch and drop 3. Since I have never played before, is this going to be too heavy? camron Decker
Generally, most -3 BBCOR certified bats are going to be for high school and collegiate play. However, depending on your size, and build, a -3 could work out, it just depends. The Bat Coach link on our website will be able to give you a good idea of what bat size would be good for you based on your height and weight.
Merritt
Which is the better of the two bats: the 2013 version for the same price or this 2014 version? Jeff
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) uses newer paradox composite material. This provides a stiffer feel than the 2013 model. It also has a new knob for a more comfortable feel.
Kara
How come you guys got rid of the 32" 20? johny
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDR Senior League model is only available in a -9 length to weight ratio, so the 32" model weighs 23 oz. Unfortunately, we have sold out of the 32" model in this particular size and the bat has since been discontinued for the 2014 model year. We also offer the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD: DXVDR Senior League bat in a 32" 23 oz. If you are looking for a 32" 20 oz., please feel free to contact us via phone, email, or live chat and we will be happy to find a few options for you!
Austin
Is this bat a big barrel? cdavis
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) Senior League features a 2 5/8" barrel. Both 2 5/8" and 2 3/4" barrels are considered "big barrel" bats.
John H
Why did they change the 2014 design so soon? What's the main difference in this bat and the Overlord? Is this bat end loaded? Thanks FrackAbat
The main difference between the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) and the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD is that the OVERLORD will have the new D-Fusion handle. The D-Fusion handle is an upgrade that eliminates the vibration to the handle and redirects it back into the barrel for added power. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) will be an end loaded bat.
Kelby
My son is 4'10" and he weighs 87 pounds. He is both a power and contact hitter. What size should I get him? 3636

Bobby
My son is 9 and he's 5 ft. and weighs 86lbs. He swings a 29" 19 oz. Worth now. What size Voodoo would suit him? Does the Voodoo swing heavy? wonderboy
Based on the information you gave me I would suggest a 30" 21 oz. in the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR). If you compare what he uses now to the DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) it will swing heavier.
Zach
My son is 5'3", weighs 115 lbs. and is almost 11. What size Voodoo would be best? He used a CF5 31/20 last year. Mr.B
Based on the players approximate height and weight, the size we would suggest in the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) would be 31 inches. However, since he used a 31 inch last year, it might be best to move up to a 32" because the player will continue to increase in size.
Merritt
My son is 9, 5' and weights 125 lbs. He is very strong and solid. Would the 30" 20 oz. be okay for him? Foxy
The 30" 21 oz. is the correct size for his height and weight. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) is a great option for a stronger player.

Is this bat legal for Babe Ruth? All of my friends say it is legal, but I am just wondering. If it is not legal, what is your opinion on a bat I should get? I am 5'7" 150 lbs. jhonny appleseed

Jason

Kelby
Is there a major difference between the 2014 Voodoo and the Voodoo OVERLORD besides the no vibration handle? seanyt
The only difference between the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) and the Voodoo Paradox will be the D-Fusion handle on the Overlord that helps to eliminate hand sting and vibration.
Tessa L.
My son is 13 years old but on the small side. He is about 4'8 and weighs about 90 pounds. He is contact hitter and currently swings a 30-20 allow bat. I am looking for a half and half bat and was wondering what size and model would be best? How about this Voodoo model? Curtis
This would be a good bump up in drop for your son going from a drop 10 to a drop 9. I would recommend a 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) in a 30 in. 21 oz. based on the information.
Zach
My son is 54" and about 85 lbs., 11 yrs old. He swings a 30", 19 oz. bat right now. I'm interested in this bat. I want him to swing the same length but wondering if the extra 2 oz. will affect him or not. What do you recommend? Dom
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) is an end loaded bat. We typically do not recommend moving up two ounces. We recommend a more balanced bat such as the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVXR) in a 30" 20 oz.
Kara
I am 13 years old, 5'1" tall and weigh 95 pounds. What size bat should I be swinging? luke
For someone of your size we would recommend a 31" bat, although you can go up or down 1" depending on other factors such as your strength, whether you choke up on the bat or not, how far you stand from the plate, etc.
Kyle J.
I'm 5'1", 85 lbs. I use a CF5, 30" 20 oz. I'm not a real power hitter. Should I buy the 30" 21 oz. Paradox or the CF5 Limited Edition? Would going up an ounce up be too heavy? Is the Paradox end loaded? How long does it last? the great one
The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) is an end loaded bat and designed for a power hitter. The DeMarini CF5 LE (DXCFX-LE) is a balanced bat and is best for a contact hitter. Both bats are very durable. We recommend a 30" 20 oz. bat for your height and weight.
Kara

Kara
I'm 5 foot 1 and weigh 120 pounds. Should I swing a Paradox or CF5? gavin
The preference for the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDR) or the DeMarini CF5 (DXCFX) would be based on whether you like a balanced or end-loaded feel and what barrel material you like. Both bats are great designs and perform extremely well. The CF5 is balanced and made of composite material and the Voodoo Paradox is and alloy barrel that will be end-loaded.

Bobby

If a 12U can use a drop 10 by rule, is there a benefit in using a drop 9, 8, or 7? steve
If the player is still able to control and swing a heavier bat (ie -9, -8, ect.), more momentum is created in their swing which increases their potential for power. However, if the player's swing speed is slowed down by the heavier model, then a -9 model like this 2014 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) would not benefit the player.
Mac

How is the vibration on this bat? Does it require a break in period? How does it compare to composite models? little o
The DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) features a two piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. It also offers a slightly end-loaded swing weight. The alloy barrel does not require any sort of a break in and will be game ready out of the wrapper. Composite models are constructed from layers of material and will require a break in period in order to achieve their optimum performance. Additionally, they tend to stay hot for a little longer than the alloy models.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
