Description

Easton truly believes that every player should have the opportunity to hit for power. However, the road to power hitting is different for every player. Some players need extra bat speed to reach their full power potential, while others need more weight and a bigger barrel. That's why Easton is changing the game this season and taking an approach to bats that no other manufacturer has ever tried before. Introducing the POWER Brigade; Two series, one distinct result. Whether you prefer the fast swinging Speed Series or the heavier extended barrel XL Series, POWER will be your outcome. Forget flashy designs and gimmicky names, these bats produce RESULTS. The Speed Series (S1, S2, S3) features the lowest Moment of Inertia (M.O.I.) on the market to create light swing weights and generate more power. On the other side of the spectrum, the XL Series (XL1, XL2, XL3) features extra long barrels designed to give players expanded hitting zones and more mass in the barrel, generating more power in every swing. Easton really does strive to fulfill the preferences of any type of player as both series come in two-piece IMX Composite designs (S1 and XL1), two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Aluminum hybrid designs (S2 and XL2), and one-piece THT100 Aluminum designs (S3 and XL3). As for the materials, Easton's patented IMX Composite has proven to be one of the highest performing materials in the game year after year, while THT100 Aluminum provides superior dent and crack resistance. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology and you have a new line of bats that is second to none. Easton: We Believe In Power! This bat features the USSSA 1.15 stamp. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Looks great and has nice pop once you get it broken in. Between myself and my two boys we hit over 200 balls with it yesterday and it started to loosen up and wow.

Cons: It takes a couple hundred hits before the ball starts to jump.

Cons: Have to break it in but that is standard with a composite bat.

Pros: Blows my sons prodigy out of the water. He just turned 7 so the drop 12 has really helped his bat speed.

Cons: Have to go hit a bunch in the cage to break in

Pros: Increased bat speed

Cons: We play 8U coach pitch with real baseballs. 2 kids have used this bat every day over the last week so it's broken in. Sweet spot is very small and hand vibration on anything outside the sweet spot is bad. After the first day in the cage, excess glue inside the bat had broken off as you can hear fragment pieces slide inside the bat when you turn it from end to end. The bat description is like the original white Stealth that started all the bat ban but is no where close to the performance. This bat should be labeled for knee coach pitch or tee ball. Stand up 8 yr olds should avoid this bat.

Pros: Great design and excellent pop! I bought the 26 in 14oz for my son who plays 7u CP travel ball.

Cons: The bat cracked the first day of practice after about 30 cuts. Hopefully my replacement bat holds up because it really hits good.

Pros: This is a very Hot Bat! The first game my son went two for two hitting to hard shots that ended up in the out field.I recommend this bat not bad for a 5 yr old that weighs 50 lbs.

Cons: Very expensive bat. And the break in time that a composite bat requires. We hit a few hundred balls .

Pros: bought this bat two weeks ago for my travel 8u team. It has a nice pop and is light weight so some of my smaller kids can swing it with some force. I am so pleased with it I am going to buy the next size up for my bigger kids.

Cons: Better start using it as soon as you get it so you can break it in. It is just like any composite bat you have to break it in before you get the full potential.

Pros: Looks great. Junior Drop 12 and balanced weighting is easier to swing for my son than the Senior end load weighted S1 counterpart. He swings this 28" faster and more controlled than his 27" Worth Senior Lithium Prodigy.

Cons: It does take a lot of breaking in and does have a small sweet spot. It does have a lot of vibration if not hit in the sweet spot even after regripping it with the Easton VRS tape. The S3 and other metal bats have more generous sweet spots.

Pros: This bat is awesome. My son is cranking the ball with this bat and it's not broken in yet. Several kids on our team hit the ball to the fence (200') this weekend. The bat is Hot. We have been using the 2012 Louisville Slugger for the past year. This bat has a much larger sweet spot and is a hotter bat.

Cons: none so far. It is worth the extra $.

Pros: My six year old son has had this bat for a few days, so it's pretty much fresh out of the plastic, and I have noticed a complete difference in his hitting performance due to the -12oz drop and the balance of the bat. Pros: The bat has a huge sweet spot, with a lot of pop. The bat is indeed balanced & equal. The bat really improves bat speed. I only wish since it is lighter than my little guys old bat that I would of went up in length. I guess it will just make me have to move up and start breaking in a 28 inch sooner!!!

Cons: It was hot out of the wrapper, but as mentioned/recommended I noticed an improvement after 200-300 swings.

Pros: This Bat is great. When it arrived we went to the batting cages and I threw my son roughly 400 pitches. He especially likes the light weight. He is about 4' 50 lbs, 7 years old and thought most say get a 27", he has the 26". His first pitch at practice he sent the ball to deep center field and the first baseman's Grand parents bought him one and he is hitting like crazy. My son also has the 26" drop 10 Xl1 junior Big Barrel, he uses both but, definetly loves the S1 Junior Big Barrel best. Right length, Right Weight, swings great and hits the long ones.

Cons: None

Pros: This bat is amazing. My son is a first year coach pitch player, and the adjustment from t-ball to coach pitch was pretty rough at the plate. I saw that his confidence was a bit low, so we tried the Easton S1: JBB11S1 Junior Big Barrel. Once he received the bat, his first at bat he hit the ball further than he had ever. After that his confidence grew. Now the bat is a team favorite and everybody use it.

Cons: I WISH I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE 26'/14oz bat!

Tball Coach

Pros: I bought the 25" 13 oz. because I'm a big time believer in bat speed. It is a good Tball bat, that warms up after being broken-in. Half of the team uses the bat, and I have even allowed the opposition to use it. Durability in a Tball setting is not an issue.

Cons: The sweet spot is small. The end of the bat is more dead than most bats, so I constantly have to tell my hitters to get closer to the Tee and hit the ball with the "T" on the barrel. I've thrown some balls to my boys to get ready for coach pitch and it is too short. Gonna order the 26" 14 oz.

Cons: My dad and I took some reps with the bat and I started to hit the ball far. You should get the bat from my prospective.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB11S1? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son (7 years old)will move up and down between 8u and 9u both kid pitch. He is on the small size and uses his speed to get on base. Would you recomend this bat (28/16) or the S1 in the 2 5/8 (27/17)? Thatdude30
The JBB11S1 should only be used in coach pitch because of the thinner walls. The Easton S1: SL11S110 Senior League would be a better choice for kid pitch.
Kara
Is this bat good for coach pitch? bigwil
This bat would be perfect for coach pitch! Bats labeled as "coach pitch" and "junior big barrel" are essentially the same thing.
Jennifer
Is this a one piece composite bat ? waw1246
Yes. This is a one piece composite bat.
Tyler
If composite bats were ruled illegal according to Alabama Dizzy Dean, will this bat be legal for 2012? Is the stamp all thatis required? Michael
As of March 25, 2012 composite bats have not been banned according to the Dizzy Dean website http://dizzydeanbbinc.org/state_contacts.htm. The S1 has the required BPF stamp. As of today, the Easton S1: JBB11S1 is legal.
Sean
Can this bat be used for kid pitch with regular baseballs? Chris
This is designed for Coach Pitch. If you need a bat for a kid pitch league that uses real baseballs, look at the "Youth Big Barrel" section
Tyler
Are all the Junior Big Barrels considered "coach pitch" bats? I'm looking for a -12 28" big barrel for my son. Kai's dad
Yes, all Junior Big Barrels are considered "coach pitch" bats. There are two -12 big barrel bats that are suited for machine and kid pitch; 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II: SL12T Senior League and the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000: SL12Z Senior League.
Kara
Our coach pitch league uses real baseballs will this be ok with this bat. If it is ok will this have more pop than the aluminum big barrel Easton bat? tee
Junior Big Barrel bats are designed for Coach Pitch baseball, and can be used with real baseballs. As long as the coaches aren't hurling the ball in there at speeds greater than 40 mph or so, this will be a great bat. Junior Big Barrel bats should not be used in kid pitch leagues though.
Tyler
If the bat has the USSSA 1.15 stamp, it can be used in kid-pitch USSSA travel tournaments, right? Why does JustBats suggest this bat is for coach pitch only play? BatCrazy
This is a coach pitch bat. This bat is not built or designed to withstand high velocity pitches and hits. The walls are thinner and not as durable as they need to be to withstand kid and/or machine pitch. You could use it for kid pitch, but you will more than likely run into durability issues with the bat since is not designed for that kind of play.
Jennifer
Is the Easton S1 JBB11S1 balanced or end loaded? dAVID
The JBB11S1 is a 100% composite bat with a balanced feel. This bat features a 2 3/4" barrel giving it a huge sweet spot and great pop.
Kris
Looking for a bat for my son in machine pitch. I like the drop on this to go with the big barrel. Will this work ok for machine pitch? the jep
Junior Big Barrel bats really aren't meant to withstand live pitching at speeds greater than 40 mph. If the machines in your machine pitch league are under 40mph, then you should be good with the JBB11S1. If greater, you'll have to look at a Youth Big Barrel bat.
Tyler
What IMX means in a bat? Is this bat composite? Cathy
IMX Composite is a technology that strengthens the composite materials for maximum performance. The composite fibers are angled and layered to maximize the hitting area of the barrel and eliminate vibration.
Kara
Do you make this in BBCOR 32in./20oz.? Mike
The Easton S1 does come in a BBCOR model. BBCOR models only come in a -3. So a 32 in. BBCOR would be 29 oz.
Nick K.
What size bat should my 8 yr old use? 48 inches tall and 60 lbs. Six
Based on his height and weight, a 27" 15 oz bat would be recommended.
Tyler
Is there any 31 in.? Any drop is fine, other than -3 and -5. Gorilla
Unfortunately, the largest size the Easton JBB11S1 is produced in is a 28" 16 oz model.
Tyler
Are 2 3/4 legal anymore? bdk
A lot will depend on your local league rules, but if it is governed by USSSA is has the BPF 1.15 stamp.
Damon
What's the difference between Easton S1: JBB11S1 Junior Big Barrel and the Easton JBB11X3 XL3 Power Brigade XL Series? obviouslly price is one difference but which bat has more pop? Benny
The Easton S1: JBB11S1 is a two piece full composite bat. The Easton JBB11X3 XL3 is a one piece full alloy bat. Traditionally, full composite bats are known to out perform alloy bats, but at the Coach Pitch level (which these bats are designed for), the difference won't be as noticeable.
Tyler
My son is 45 inches and weights 45 pounds. Is a 26-14 or a 27-15 a better choice? He just turned 7. Steve L
We recommend a 27" for his height and weight.
Kara
Can these bats be used in first year kid pitch? RILO
No. Junior Big Barrel bats are only meant for use in coach pitch. For kid pitch, you will need to look at a Youth Big Barrel (Senior League) bat.
Tyler
What is the difference in a junior big barrel and a regular big barrel? Why can't these bats be used in kid pitch? yoyo
Junior Big Barrel bats are made with thinner barrel walls and can only withstand pitches at the max of 45 mph. Regular Youth Big Barrel bats have thicker barrel walls and will hold up much better in kid pitch.
Tyler
Is there a minimum temperature for use? WP
Yes, the minimum temperature recommended for use on the Easton S1: JBB11S1 Junior Big Barrel is 50 degrees. If used in lower temperatures you could run the risk of cracking or breaking the composite material used on the bat.
Brandon
What is the major difference between the 2012 and 2013 model of this bat? Matt
The 2013 Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel will be offered in the same sizes and same barrel diameter as the 2012 model. The new 2013 will be a One-Piece IMX Composite Design with the new Pro Tack Grip. This bat will be even more balanced than last years version with a lower MOI. The warranty on this bat will be better than last year as well. It will feature a Full 400 Day warranty through Easton. This bat is recommended for Players ages 8 and under.

Tyler
Can the S1:JBB11S1 Jr. Big Barrel be used in a machine pitch league where the speed of the machine is 36 mph? CH
Yes. As long as pitching speeds don't exceed 44 or 45 mph, the Easton S1: JBB11S1 would be a good choice.
Tyler
What's the difference with -10 and -12? Henry
The Easton S1: JBB11S1 Junior Big Barrel is a balanced two-piece composite bat that has a drop ratio of -12. The Easton XL3: JBB11X3 Junior Big Barrel is a one-piece alloy bat that is end loaded.
Kevin S.
Are there any major differences between this bat and the JBB13S1 big barrell, and does this bat say Dixie Youth approved on it? Ben
No there is really no differences between the 2012 Easton S1 and the 2013 Easton S1 and the junior big barrel bats will not be approved for Dixie Youth you will have to use a youth 2 1/4 bat.
Noah
What is the difference between Easton JBB11S1 and Easton JBB13S1? You know
Easton S1: JBB11S1 Junior Big Barrel happens to be last years model. That and graphics would be the only difference.
Chad M.
Is this available 30" 18 oz.? yuksoftball
Unfortunately, the Easton S1: JBB11S1 Junior Big Barrel bat is not produced in a 30" 18 oz. model. The largest size it is made in is 28" 16 oz.
Tyler
My son is 50 inches and 75 lbs. What size do you recommend? Chad

Kevin
I just ordered this bat. My son just turned 6 and we got the 25" 13 oz. Is that to light in weight for him? Should I of gotten a 26" 15 oz? chad
