Pros: This bat is great. Lightweight improves bat speed. Balanced weight keeps my daughters swing level. She hit two off the wall last night in a 14u indoor tournament.

Cons: Trying to keep the other girls from using my daughter's new bat.

Pros: Ordered this bat with free shipping and received it in less than 24 hours! My 11 year old hasn't hit with it yet, but says it looks/feels much better than the Worth bat we swapped it for. I may bump the rating up to a 5 if she likes the bat.

Softball Girl

Pros: My daughter has been playing for 8 yrs now & has used many bats. This is the best bat she has ever used, at a great price. The more expensive bats are not necessary. This bat is lightweight for a faster, more controlled swing. It helps your daughter keep the bat level for a more powerful swing. If needed, the bat also shows where your daughter where the sweet spot is, to help maximize her hit. The lightweight helps to control bunting too. Buy this bat, she won't regret it. Make sure you get the right size for your daughter though... that makes a difference too! My daughter is 12 & bought 32", but she's built up the arm muscles to handle the size.

Cons: Aside from many girls liking the bat too, there are no cons at this time.

Easton Alpha fastpitch travel ball player

Pros: The length and lightness of the bat are great for making contact with the ball. It is also great for hitting the gaps in the outfiekd for base hits.

Cons: The ball just doesnt jump off the bat even close to how the ball comes off a composite bat. Have had other alloy bats with better action but still like the bat. Not for distance.

Great for my 7 year old!! Mick Dundee parent

Pros: Bat is definately for my small daughter. She is 7 and maybe 50 pounds. She was having trouble using the cheaper bats because of the small hitting areas and they were also not balanced and a little heavy. I got her the 28/15 and she swings HARD! She has used it in 2 games now and is 4/6 and the ball comes off with pop for such a little thing. The other 6-7 year olds are using it now and they all got around better and made solid contact with this bat as well. If I could give it 6 stars I certainly would

Cons: That I didnt get it last season

Pros: im a 14u asa player and i love this bat. i initially bought it as a second bat, but i ended up loving it more, because of its pop. as soon as you make contact you can be garenteed that its going somewhere. its very lightwieght which is good for when you face faster pitchers, but because of its massive sweetspot even if you hit it early it wont be a bad hit

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton Alpha Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP13AL? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My daughter is playing U8 and want to get her a good bat for the upcoming season. She is a solid hitter but not a power hitter. I'm debating between this bat and the rip it prototype. She is about 51" and 51 lbs (will be getting the 29") Any thoughts on which would be a bat to get more power from? dawn
Based on her size and age, a -13 balanced bat would be a better choice. Thus, I would recommend the 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL.
Tyler
Would this bat be good for a high school player who is a tall big girl. She's a power hitter. Also will this meet all high school regulations for 2013. Janet
With a -13 length to weight ratio, the 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL is a little too light in my opinion for a power hitter at the High School level. It's legal for High School play, but I would recommend something around a -10.
Tyler
My daughter is a 5'1" junior in High School and I want to get her a bat as a surprise. She is a solid double/triple hitter, I think with the right bat she could be smashing homeruns :) would you recommend the 31 inch 18 oz with a -12 drop? Peanu
That's hard to say without knowing her weight, the length and weight of her current bat, as well as her swing speed and bat control with her current bat.
Tyler
What other bats does this compare too? I am looking for a new bat for my 9yo that is a contact hitter not a power hitter. I am also looking at bats like the Miken Halo Light and the Rip-IT -12 bat. hogdiggity
Two-piece bats are normally best suited for a contact hitter. The 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch, the 2013 Miken Halo Light: HALO12 Fastpitch and the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype: F1312 Fastpitch are one piece bats. However, the are all very balanced and would be a good fit for a young player.
Kara
Will this 2013 bat still be approved for use in USSSA and ASA after September 2013? We are looking for a good cold weather bat to use for the next few years. KJ
Yes. The FP13AL has the new USSSA stamp and will be legal in both USSSA and ASA for the entire 2013 calendar year.
Tyler
How does this bat compare to the (-13) Bustos? My daughter liked the Bustos and did well with it. Her league changed the required stamp so where looking for something similar. ch
The 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch bat is also a one-piece fully alloy bat. It is a balanced, lightweight design similar to the 2012 DeMarini Bustos: DXBFP Fastpitch bat.
Robert
I am looking for a bat for my daughter who is 11 and 4ft 7 and 80 lbs. When do you decide that bat speed is more important than weight. She has a 30 in drop 10 now, just does not seem to hit as well. She used to hit line drives at pitcher now just never seems to consistently hit hard. jph
The goal for a player is to swing the heaviest bat possible without sacrificing swing speed and bat control. When in doubt, it is recommended a player swing a variety of different size bats to get an idea of what length and weight are best. This is best done in local sporting goods stores, or trying out the bats of teammates.
Tyler
My daughter is a slapper, she currently has a RockeTech but it is too heavy. She would prefer one solid barrel, do you have any suggestions? cindy
The 2013 Easton Alpha Fastpitch would be perfect for a slap hitter. I would suggest going down in weight to the 31" bat.
Chad M.
My daughter is 5.5 feet 3 inches tall. I want get her either this bat or the 2012 Easton Synge. But, I'm sure because some of the reviews for the 2012 Easton Synge are not too good about the paint chipping. Do you have any suggestions? softballbat
The Easton Alpha Fastpitch is a one-piece alloy bat. I would go with the Easton Synge because of it is a composite bat. It will have more pop then the alloy. It has more reviews then the Easton Alpha because it is one of the most popular Fastpitch bat we have.
Chad M.
I'm 5 feet tall, 12 years old and 115 pounds. I'm currently playing on 4 different travel teams. Do you think that this bat could handle all of that playing time and not fall apart? And based on my description, do you think that this would be a good bat for me? If not, what would you recommend? I had just bought the Worth FPX and was extremely disappointed and had to return it. I really need a good bat that can hold up. Kelsey
For a good bat at a good price I would go with the 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch. It has a low M.O.I. which gives you a lighter feel when swinging the bat. It should last for many seasons.
Chad M.
Is this bat composite? Shan
The 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch is going to be a one-piece alloy bat.
Noah
I ended a summer league today, and I am going into a fall-ball. I have a Bustos -13 bat, but it is too top heavy for me, I am going into 8th grade, 13 yrs old and am roughly 5 foot and 85 lbs. I am starting to bunt more and might start to slap. I need a bat that is light because I am having trouble with getting down the right bat speed. I am in 16U and so I need to have the bat speed, would this bat work for me? maddie
The 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch is a nicely balanced bat. It would be a great choice for a player who needs to increase their bat speed.
Kara
My daughter is 8 and starting 10U fastpitch. She's 4'9" tall and 60 lbs. What size and weight do you recommend for her? Alex N.
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 30" 17 oz. 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch.

Aubrey
I am a 14 year old high school softball player in the slowpitch division. I weigh about 185 lbs. and I'm 5' 4". What size bat should I get? brat
Based on your height and weight, our Bat Coach tool suggests a 33" fastpitch model. If you are playing in a slow pitch softball league, where the pitch has a high arc, then most of those models have 34" lengths and much heavier weights. The weight of the bat you select is more dependent on strength than height and weight, so it is hard to make a recommendation. Typically, players who hit for contact or slap will use a very light bat like this 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch for increased bat control.
Mac
Is this bat composite? softballgal_129
No, the 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch bat will be made from 7050 Aircraft alloy.

Does this bat come in -9, 30" 21 oz. size? After trying several different bat weights and sizes my daughter feels she has great speed through the hitting zone with this size bat. Thanks. mike
The 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch bat will come in a much lighter feeling -13 length to weight ratio. If she likes the -9 try this fastpitch model: Anderson RockeTech FP: KRKTFP Fastpitch.
Brandon
Is this bat aluminum or composite? vicjaquez
The 2013 Easton Alpha is an aluminum model.
Justin R.
Will this bat be approved for the 2014 calendar year? My daughter plays in an ASA 10U league. Marlon
Yes, the 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch contains the newest stamps and is approved for ASA.
Tori
What is the weight in ounces of a -10 and -11 on this bat? Mike
This 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch is only available in the -13 length to weight ratio. Because it is a -13, a 30" model would weigh 17 ounces.
Mac
What ages would this bat be recommended for? BreMohr
The 2013 Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch is designed for younger players. Usually ages 7-10 use a -13 bat.

Based on her height and weight, we recommend a 33" model in the Easton Alpha (FP13AL) Fastpitch.
Jason
would this bat be recommended for a high school player? my daughter isn't a power hitter KateD
The Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch has all of the proper qualifications that make it approved for high school play such as the 1.20 BPF stamp. It is also approved for league play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, and ISA. This bat is going to be lighter and have a more balanced swing weight, which is ideal for contact and gap hitters.
Merritt
My daughter is 12 years old, 5'9" and 145 lbs. Strong and solid. A power hitter. We own the CF5 Demarini Insane bat 34"24 oz. It was too heavy for her. Do you think the Alpha Easton 34" 21 ounce bat is better than the Easton Typoon bats? Which is better? Thanks. Slick
The Easton Alpha (FP13AL) is too light for a player her size. The bat is likely to become damaged. The DeMarini CF5 Insane is an end loaded bat and is typically used by older players. We recommend a balanced 34" 24 oz. bat such as the 2014 Easton FS2 (FP14S2). The Easton Alpha, and Easton FS2 use higher grade of materials than the Easton Typhoon.
Kara
Is this a good bat for high school? mike
Fastpitch softball players could definitely use the Easton Alpha: FP13AL Fastpitch. It will be very balanced and have a light swing weight.
Brandon

Brandon
My daughter is 5'3", 115 lbs, and 15 years old. What size bat should I get for her? softballmom
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 32" bat. However, a -13 bat such as the Easton Alpha (FP13AL) is not typically recommended for a high school player. We recommend a heavier bat such as the 2014 Easton S300 (FP14S300).
Kara
My daughter is 4'8" and around 75 lbs. She is playing U 10 softball. Would this be a good bat for her? What length is recommended? Rookie

Jason
My daughter is 15 and playing high school softball. She is 5'9'' and 190 lbs. Would this be a good bat for her and what is the best size? softball mom 98
The Easton Alpha (FP13AL) has been a very popular bat and is a good choice. However, it might be a little light for your daughter depending on what she is used to. Based on her height and weight, we would recommend a 34'' bat.
Tori
My daughter is 13 and is playing softball. She is 5 foot 6 and weighs 105 pounds. Is this a good bat? What would be the best size? Roro
Based on the players height and weight; we would suggest the 32 inch size of the Easton Alpha (FP13AL). The Alpha would be a nice option for your player. It's one piece, lightweight alloy design helps the player maximize bat head speed to generate power. The 7050 Aircraft Alloy from Easton makes this bat one of the most durable alloy softball bats available.

The Easton Alpha (FP13AL) is a very good bat. It is a balanced one- piece alloy design with a cushion grip. With its 2 1/4" barrel diameter it has a Low M.O.I. for a lighter swing weight. This a perfect bat for 12 or 10 under.
Zach

Is this bat good for 16u? Also is it a composite bat? kerr

This is my daughter's first year playing fastpitch. She is 10 years old. She's a petite 4' 6" tall and 71 lbs. She is a good all around athlete and likes the sport. Is this a good bat for her, or is there another you would recommend? Thanks. Coach Russell
Yes, the Easton Alpha Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13AL) would be a great bat choice. It will feel very light and balanced. The alloy will not require any period of break-in and will be highest performing on day one.
Brandon
I'm trying to determine if this would be a good fit for my nine year old. She's a decent player and makes good contact, just not as powerful as I think she can be. We are looking to buy a more serious bat, but don't want to shell out a lot of money at this time. She plays rec ball now, but is considering travel ball in the next year. She currently hits with an inexpensive Easton FP13ER. She's 4'4" tall and about 73 lbs. MGS Mom
The Easton Alpha Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13AL) will feature a one-piece full alloy design as well as a balanced swing weight. Additionally, the FP13AL offers the ultra-thin 29/32 handle which is ideally suited for smaller hands. For a player of her size, our bat coach recommends the Alpha in a 29" 16 oz. pattern.
Joe
I'm 5'2" and 113 lbs. What size should I get? bethany
For a player of your size, our bat coach recommends the Easton Alpha Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13AL) in a 32" model. Unfortunately, we don't have that particular size in stock, so another similar bat that you could consider in that size would be the Easton FS3 Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP14S3).
Joe
Is the bat composite? mylissa
Easton Alpha Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13AL) is a one piece alloy bat.
Tom
My daughter is 15, 5' 7" and about 170 lbs. Her batting coach is on her about getting her hands forward to hit opposite field. She currently hits a Easton 34" bat and he suggests something shorter to add to bat speed. Any suggestions? Mike
The Easton Alpha Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13AL) would be a good option if we had a 33" in stock. I would instead suggest the Easton FS2 Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13S2).
Jake
Can these bats be used for slow pitch, or not? Colby
The Easton Alpha Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13AL) will be for women's fastpitch softball. It would not be certified for slow pitch use.

Patrick

The Easton Alpha Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13AL) would be a good option for an 8U softball player.
Patrick

my daughter is 7 years old approx 50 inches and 62 lbs what would be a good size including that - number? The higher the negative the lighter? amber
Based on your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend that she swing a 29" bat. You are correct, the higher the negative, the lighter the bat. The "drop weight" comes from subtracting the length from the weight. Typically, girls this age swing a fastpitch bat in the range from a -13 to a -10. I would base the weight on your daughter's current bat weight. If her bat speed is fast, then she could afford to go up in weight a little bit. If her bat speed is slower, then I would consider dropping the weight on the bat.
Nick
Daughter joined a competitive softball team. We are looking for a bat that is perfect for her, she weighs 110 pounds and is 5 foot one and a half inches tall. She has a 31 inch bat right now that is a Easton. Last year when she used it she put two dents in it so I'm not sure if that was the right size. Dawn
For your daughter's height and weight we recommend a 32" length bat.
Angelique
My daughter is 116 pounds and 4'11". Will this bat still work for her? Softball mom
The Easton Alpha Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP13AL is a -13 length to weight ration and would not be a good option for a player that is 4'11" and 116 lbs.
