Description

DeMarini is not slowing down with developing some of the hottest bats on the market. DeMarini leads the industry, this time, a bat to combine their most advanced composite handle with their most advanced aluminum barrel. DeMarini has battle-proven technology that is combined with a new composite handle and taper. The Half & Half system redistributes weight for optimal balance, allowing players to swing faster with less effort. For the player, Half & Half means more power. The new Pitch Black Plus Composite Handle is 22% stronger than competitors materials. The Pitch Black Plus handle is the tightest and strongest composite combined with Silver Trace bonding agents adds strength to maximize the power transfer to the barrel for added performance. Coupled with the improved, 12% stronger, SC-4 alloy, the DeMarini Voodoo has greater durability and strength than ever before. The SC4 alloy barrel is strength tested, high grade alloy thickness tuned for the ultimate structurally controlled forming capabilities to provide the largest aluminum sweet spot. This is ideal for the "Power Hitter." The barrel of the new Voodoo is Thickness Tuned to exact physical properties to match bat and ball collision with different thickness ratios to increase the sweet spot. The kick-point in the handle has been moved up to produce a more powerful response. The improved end cap helps dampen the vibration, producing a better feel and easier swing. The DeMarini Variegated grip gives you the most comfortable feel, allowing you to have the most control possible over the bat. DeMarini: Join the Uprising! Free Shipping.

Big 8's Dad

Pros: My son had the 2007 composite Voodoo and it cracked after a year. DeMarini sent him this bat. He loves it! He hit the fence the other night and basically just held the bat over the plate. The ball comes off of the bat so fast, it's almost impossible to keep it in the infield. He has not complained about any sting. He swings the 32/19. I'll review again after a few more games.

Cons: None

Pros: Good balance, great sweet spot, great feel. This is my sons' second Voodoo in 3 seasons (he grew out of the first one). The bat is durable if you use it in plus 60 degree weather and rotate the barrel. The Voodoo Black placed in a Batters hands with good fundamentals is a sight to see.

Cons: Can be fragile is not taken care of. When finished the bat needs to be placed in a rack or equipment bag. Do not leave it laying on the dugout floor. Do not use it in temps below 60 degrees.

Pros: Cool graphics...

Cons: If you want a bat with pop, don't get this bat, cuz I got this bat online for $90, but it would have cost $300 anywhere else. Definitely not worth the price. I couldn't hit the ball 200 feet with this bat when I was 11, but I got an Omaha, and all the sudden, I'm hitting 300 foot bombs. To sum it up, don't waist your money on this bat, cuz you can get an Omaha for half the price.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Voodoo Black/Gold Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does this bat have a bbcor? Barb
This bat does not come in a BBCOR bat. We do have Voodoo"s that come in BBCOR, but this certain one will not have a BBCOR partner. We have the 2011 and 2012 Voodoo"s that come in a BBCOR.
Brett
How well would it do for a travel team Grand Slam 29
DeMarini makes a very good youth bat. I would recommend this bat for any youth player.
Kris
Is this bat a true composite bat? Jordan
This is not a composite bat. This bat has an alloy barrel. The handle is going to be composite. This bat is under the alloy barrel bats.
Todd
What do the initials mean on the bat's model alan
That is just the model number DeMarini assigns to each bat.
Kara
Is this bat available in a 30 inch length? I'm looking for a 2 1/4 inch barrel that is 30 inches long? What is the return policy? Kathy
This is only available in a 32" model, the return policy is that you can return it if it is not hit, once it gets hit with there is a one year manufacturers warranty on the bat
Sean
I understand that this is a closeout model, but does it have a BPF 1.15 stamp/or do you know if this bat is approved for use in PONY for 2012? Ray
This bat does not have the stamp on the barrel. I suggest checking with your league or coach before buying bats just to make sure the bat is legal.
KG
Is this bat USSSA approved for 2012? Money Mike's Mom
This bat does not have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on it.
Linda
I am trying to verify that this bat is approved for Little League use. I don't see this particular model on the list that League league puts out as approved Rick
Little League is requiring bats to have a 1.15 BPF stamp, which this doesn't have. It would not be legal in Little League play in 2012.
K.B.
would it be a good bat for travel ball for an eleven year old player renegades 41
Honestly, with all of the new restrictions, to be on the safe side,I would go for a bat that has all the new stamps required. Would be horrible for a batter to have his bat disqualified as he stepped up to the plate, this bat does not have the newest USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp.
Linda
I just looked it up online, it says it is legal for Little League. Is this true? nylittleleaguekid
This is true. It has an alloy barrel and is legal for Little League play.
Tyler
Is this bat composite or metal? jon
The DXVDL is a two piece bat with both composite and alloy. This bat has a composite handle and alloy barrel.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
