My grandson is 9 years old, 4' 10", and 85 lbs. He plays ball at a high level and I would like to get him a new bat. The league has a 2 1/4" diameter limit. No other limit that I am aware of for bats. Can you suggest a bat?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFL Youth in a 30" 19 oz. would be perfect for your grandson. The balanced feel and light weight of the bat will allow him to get it around faster, making it easier to stand up to faster pitching.
What size of bat do I get for my son? He is 11 years old, 4' 7" and 115 lbs.
We recommend the DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth in a 30", based on his size and age.
Can you please tell me if this bat is legal in Little League and how long to ship to the 10984 area? Also what size is good for a 10 year old?
The DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth is legal in Little League. Typical shipping time to 10984 area code is three business days with free shipping. For correct sizing check out our bat coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
I am 4' 7" and 100 lbs. I have an old bat from a garage sale, so I usually hit grounders to the infield. I am a contact hitter, but I am not sure if I would be considered a power hitter. Would this be a good bat for me?
The DeMarini Vexxum Youth bat would be a great choice for you. It will certainly help add power a average to your game.
What does 1.15 BPF mean and how is it calculated?
The 1.15 BPF rating stands for the Bat Performance Factor, and measures a non-wood bat's performance. It measures how fast the ball exits the bat when hit. In relation to a wood bat which measures a 1.00 BPF. A very good wood bat will measure a 1.15 BPF.
I am 5' 2" and 110 pounds. I am 12 years old too.
Based on your height and weight we recommend a 31" 20 oz DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth.
I am 5' 2" and I am using an 18 ounce bat which I can swing very fast. Should I get the 20 oz. or 21 oz. model of this?
The DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth bat is a great choice. I would like to know your age, and weight also, to be able to recommend the correct size. If the bat seems too light, and you need to add power, I would definitely add to the bat's weight.
For a batter that is 5 ft tall, 82 pounds, which bat would be better: DeMarini Vexxum DXVNL or the Easton XL3?
The DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth is a two-piece bat that is slightly end loaded. The Easton XL3 is a one-piece alloy bat that is also end loaded. The DeMarini Vexxum will have more flex, better for a contact hitter. The Easton XL3 is stiffer, better for a power hitter.
I just got this bat and now we have a week of cold weather, 40 and 50 degree temperatures. Do I need to worry about using a half-composite bat in those temperatures?
We recommend the DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth, along with all composite and alloy bats to be used in temperatures above 50 degrees. Baseballs becomes very dense in cold weather and will increase the chance to damage the bat.
I know not to hit composite bats in cages with dimpled balls, but I thought you could hit half-half bats like the Vexxum in cages. But I see recommendations to not use this bat in cages. Why not?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth can be used in a batting cage. Only bats with a composite barrel should not be used in a batting cage. We have updated our website to reflect the correct answer.
On my bat right by the drop there is these letters VNL12. Is this the model and is this model approved for play in Little League?
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL is 100% approved for play in Little League.
Do you recommend this 2012 Demarini Vexxum 31" 20 oz. or the 2012 Demarini CF5 31" 21 oz. What are the differences in the bat?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth is a two-piece alloy barrel and composite handle bat. The 2012 DeMarini CF5 will have a composite handle and barrel. The DeMarini is known to have more pop then the DeMarini Vexxum.
The barrel of the bat says "2011 Approved for play in ..." Is this a 2011 bat and is it approved for Cal Ripken play in 2013?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth is legal in Cal Ripken for 2013.
Is this bat legal for 2013 Little League play?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth is approved and legal for Little League play in 2013.
I have heard that the composite bats break easy if used in temperatures below 65 degrees. Is that a problem for this bat?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth bat will have an alloy barrel not a composite barrel. You will not need to worry about any break-in period. Composite bats are also not recommended for use in under 55 degrees.
My son needs a BBCOR .50 baseball bat for his majors league. Does this bat qualify?
Only adult -3 bats are eligible for BBCOR certification. The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL is a youth bat that is not BBCOR certified and would not be legal if he needs a BBCOR bat.
I'm getting this bat for my son. Can you recommend a bat that would be similar in feel/weight that would be good for the batting cage?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth bat is a great choice. As for a cage bat, you could check out this 2012 DeMarini Black Coyote: DXBCL Youth bat. The size will be the same. This bat will be a one-piece all alloy at $39.99.
One response says the bat is "end-loaded" and another says it has a balanced swing weight, which is correct?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL is one of those bats that some players will say feels endloaded (mostly players with below average strength), while some players say it feels balanced (players with slightly above average to well above average strength). The Vexxum is classified by DeMarini as a balanced bat, but it's on the "heavier" end of the balance spectrum.
My son is 11, good contact, but not much power due to relatively slow bat speed/mechanics. Would you recommend this bat and if not what would you suggest? Can a bat like this be used in the batting cage and or practice?
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth is a great bat for a contact hitter because it has a balanced swing weight. This bat can be used in the cage as long as you hit real baseballs. The dimple balls are not recommended because they are very dense and may damage the bat.
My son is 12 about 5' 2" and around 90 lbs. Will this be a good bat for him? Also, will my son be able to go hit with this right away or does it need some breaking in first?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth will be legal for play and will not to be broken in.
My son just turned 8, he is 60 lbs. and 52.5" tall. When he connects he usually hits the ball pretty hard. My concern is the 29" length, I know what the charts say but is this the right bat for someone his age and size. Would a 28" bat may be more appropriate, just do not want to sacrifice bat speed even though I am a huge fan of DeMarini.
A 28" 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth should work fine for your son.
Is this bat Little League approved for 2013?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth is approved and legal for Little League play in 2013.
My son is playing minors this year and we are working on bat speed and swinging through the ball. His confidence is not there yet. He is 9 years old and 4'11" and 90 lbs. His current bat is an old hand me down Easton Black Magic 29" -10 drop. I'm looking at this bat or the Easton Reflex. What would you recommend? Trying to increase his bat speed through the ball as well as the sweet spot. Thanks.
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL is an end loaded bat and would be better for a player with power. The Easton Reflex is a very balanced bat, perfect for a player who needs to increase their bat speed.
Why are the Demarini bats numbered around the top of the barrel at the cap?
This is called the rotation index and is helpful when breaking-in DeMarini's composite bats. These just act as a reminder to the player to rotate the bat between each hit to ensure an even break-in. For instance, if you're looking at the "5" on the index, the next hit you should rotate it so you're looking at the "6".
My son will play minors this year. He is 9, 4' 8", and weighs 75lbs. He currently uses a 29" 17oz. bat. Which would you recommend between the Easton XL1 and DeMarini Vexxum?
Since your son was using a -12 before it will be best to stick with a lighter bat. The DeMarini Vexxum is going to be best for your son because of the two-piece balanced feel of the bat.
Which one is better the 2012 Rawlings 5150 Alloy Youth Bat:YB51B or this bat?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth bat will be a two-piece bat. This bat will provide less vibration and more bat speed through the zone. The 2012 Rawlings 5150 Alloy Youth bat will be a one-piece bat that will have a stiffer feel than the Vexxum. Power hitters like this bat. Both are great bats and require no period of break-in.
Which one is better the 2012 M2M, Vendetta, or the Vexxum?
All of those bats are very similar. All the bats are two-piece bats. The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum is the only one with a composite handle. The DeMarini M2M might sting a little more. I love the DeMarini Vexxum. It has a huge sweet spot and has little or no sting to it.
How long does it take to break in this bat?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth does not require a break-in period due to its alloy barrel. The bat will be hot right out of the wrapper.
Is this a BBCOR approved bat? If not, is it approved by Little League and Babe Ruth?
The DeMarini Vexxum Youth model is not a BBCOR approved bat. BBCOR is a standard used for High School and College baseball. This DeMarini Vexxum is approved for Little League and Babe Ruth play. The Vexxum comes with an approved Little League and Babe Ruth stamp on the barrel. On the handle, the bat carries the USSSA 1.15 bpf stamp.
Is this bat suitable for 10 year olds playing in 11/12?
Yes. The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL is a popular model for 11 or 12 year old players who use a small barrel bat.
Does the DeMarini Vexxum need to be broken in? Also, how does the Vexxum compare to the Miken RZR bat that it is being sold with?
The DeMarini Vexxum has an alloy barrel so it does not need to be broken in. The Vexxum and the Miken RZR are both balanced. However, the Vexxum is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel while the Miken is a one-piece alloy.
How long does it take to break in to get the best results?
Generally composite baseball bats are going to need around 150 to 200 hits on them to start performing up to their potential. When breaking in a composite baseball bat, it is important to start off at about 50% power and gradually increase as your swing count rises. It is also important to rotate the bat about a 1/4 inch on every swing. This ensures that your bat gets evenly broken in.
Is the current model of this bat bat approved for 2013 Little League & the USSSA?
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth baseball bat is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA.
Is this bat suitable for 13 soon to be 14?
Typically, 13 and 14 year olds will not be using a -11 youth bat. If he has to use a small barrel youth bat, then I would recommend something around a -9 or -10.
How will the performance of this bat compare with composite bats like the Easton XL1 or Demarini CF5?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth bat will be a Two-Piece Hybrid model bat. The barrel will be Alloy while the handle will be Composite. This bat will be very balanced in swing weight. It will also have the long barrel design. The 2012 CF5 will also be a Two-Piece bat. This model will be 100% Composite in material. It will require a break-in period of 100-200 swings before you will see the best results. This bat will have a double wall barrel. Both DeMarini bats will help eliminate the vibrations that may reach the hitters hands because they are Two-Piece bats instead of one. The Easton XL1 will be like the CF5. It will be a Two-Piece all Composite design. This bat will have a slight end load barrel heavy feel. That is the one big difference compared to the Vexxum and CF5 being balanced. The XL1 will feature Easton's vibration reduction technology as well. All three bats will come with Full 12 month warranties through their manufacturers.
What size bat should I get for my son who is 11 and weighs 95-100lbs? He's looking at this bat, but I'm not sure what size to get him.

My grandson is on a select team using his "old" bat but hitting as well as others. Some have bought $300 bats, is it worth it, or is this $90 Vexxum OK?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth bat would be a great model for a youth hitter. This bat is a Two-Piece deign will an all Alloy barrel and composite handle. The Two-Piece design will help eliminate vibrations traveling from the barrel down to his hands to eliminate the sting. This bat will have a great swing balance on it. It will not feel barrel heavy at all. It will also come with a 12 month manufacturer's warranty.
You had listed "The VNL-11 and the DXVNL are the same bat". So this is approved for Little League World Series? I can not afford to buy a bat that my son can't use.
The 2012 and 2013 Demarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth models are legal for use in Little League play. They both have the updated USSSA stamp.
Does the 2011 and 2012 Vexxum youth have the stamp?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum has the new USSSA stamp. The 2011 DeMarini Vexxum does not have the new USSSA stamp.
Would this be a good choice for someone who does not consistently hit off the sweet spot yet? My son often hits off the handle.
Yes, the 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth bat would be a great choice. This Two-Piece Hybrid designed bat will have an Alloy Barrel and a Composite handle. Being a Two-Piece will help him get more consistent bat speed when swinging through the hitting zone. This in turn, should help him make better sweet spot contact with the baseball. This bat also features a Long Barrel Design that will give him a better hitting surface to swing with.

What's the difference between the 2012 version and the 2013 version?
The 2013 Vexxum features DeMarini's new X10 Alloy barrel. X10 features a proprietary blend of alloy agents and is finely tuned to give the 2013 Vexxum slightly thinner and lighter weight barrel walls.
My son is 5' and 85 pounds and has good contact, but no power at all. His mechanics look good and his bat speed looks average, but the ball just dies off his bat. His current bat is the 30" 17 oz version of the Easton Impact SC900 Scandium and he doesn't like the bat. Would the Vexxum be a good choice for him?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum would be a perfect choice. Since the Vexxum is a two-piece bat, the flex will help him with bat speed and bat whip.
I'm 5 foot 4 155 lbs, I'm a power hitter but I can hit for contact too. Is this the bat for me?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum is a two-piece bat that is slightly end loaded. Perfect for a contact hitter with some power.
Does the Demarini Vexxum have a similar swing weight to the 2011 CF4? My son uses a 31/20 CF4 as his primary bat, and am interested in picking up an aluminum or half and half bat as a cold weather/practice bat. I don't want a bat that swings much different than the CF4. Thanks for any suggestions
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum is slightly end loaded like the 2011 CF4. It will have a similar swing weight and feel.
Need to know the bat size for my 9 yr. old son. Height 4'7" and 122lbs. Your suggestions?
We would recommend around a 30" bat for your son. See our sizing chart for more detail. http://www.justbats.com/bat-resource-guide/selecting-a-baseballbat/
Is this bat approved for Dixie Youth Baseball. I see a VNL -11 listed but no DXVNL.
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum is approved for Dixie Youth Baseball. The VNL-11 and the DXVNL are the same bat.
I am 4'10" 13 years and 98 lbs. Would this bat be good for me or what would be better?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum is a great bat. However, it is slightly end loaded, best suited for a contact hitter with power.
Which bat tends to be more endloaded : 2012 vexxum or 2012 voodoo?
The 2012 Voodoo will have just a slightly more end loaded feel.
Can this bat be used in batting cages without damaging the barrel since it's an alloy barrel and not composite? If not, is there a -11 bat you would recommend for batting cage swings in the winter that swings similar to the Demarini CF5 and is under $100? Thank you for your reply.
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum can be used in a batting cage that uses yellow dimpled balls. Only composite barrel bats should not be used in a bating cage.
Is the bat a full composite or half and half?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth is a hybrid design so it is half and half.
Is this bat half and half. Is this bat little league approved.
The Vexxum is a hybrid bat with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. It is also approved for Little League play and features the USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp. Here is the link to view more details about this model. http://www.justbats.com/product/2012-demarini-vexxum--dxvnl-youth/14268/
When is the discount for this bat over?
We do not have an exact date as a lot of it depends on inventory levels. It should be for at least another couple weeks or so.
is it approved in 2012 little league
Yes the DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL youth is little league approved.
I'm trying to decide betweem the 2012 DeMarini Vexxum and the 2012 DeMaini Vendetta. Any recommendations?
Both are two piece ts with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum will be more end loaded than the 2012 DeMarini Vendetta. The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum will be better for a power hitter.
I am trying to decide between the DeMarini Vexxum: DXVNL Youth or the Easton Convert XL:LT460 Youth. My son is 9 years old, 88lbs. and 4'11". He is a strong kid. From the charts it looks like a 30' bat is the recommendation. He probably is more of a power hitter and generally makes good contact with the ball. Which bat would you recommend? Thanks.
Both are great bats, but I would give an advantage to the Vexxum in terms of overall performance. Both are well suited for contact and power hitters alike, but I feel he'll get more pop with the Vexxum in his hands.
Looking for a bat for my 9yr old son. He's 54" tall - 66lbs. Trying to decide between DeMarini Vexxum and the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst and stuck on which one to choose. Any advantages to one over the other?
Both are great bats. The Catalyst is a one-piece bat that will be pretty stiff. If your son is a stronger hitter with good swing speed, the Catalyst may be the better option due to it's one piece, stiff design. The Vexxum is a two-piece bat with more flex. If he's more of a contact hitter or has below average to average swing speed, the Vexxum may be the better option.
Is this Little League approved for 2012?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum is in fact Little League approved for 2012. This bat also has the new USSSA stamp, so it will be legal for use beyond 2012 as well.
What is the difference between the Vexxum and the Easton Surge? Which one is considered a better bat? Does it need to be broken in? Thanks!
The DeMarini Vexxum and the Easton Surge are very similar bats. There really isn't one that is better than the other. Neither one of these bats will need to be broken-in.
Is this bat composite or aluminum?
The 2012 DeMarini Vexxum contains both materials. This bat has a composite handle and an alloy barrel.
I did not see this bat on the list of approved bats for little league. Do you know if Little League approved this bat?
Yes. The DXVNL has an alloy barrel and is 100% legal for Little League. Even if it's not on Little League's approved bat list, they have a disclaimer that says if a bat meets the specifications of Rule 1.10, then it is still legal for use.
I know no one has a crystal ball, but will this bat with the correct stamps be legal in Cal Ripken in 2013?
As of today, the 2012 DeMarini will be legal in 2013 in Cal Ripkin.
When it says the bat is approved for Little League and Babe Ruth because I am in Little League and its my last year. Would I be able to use it in Babe Ruth?
Absolutely. This bat is approved by both Little League and Babe Ruth. This bat has the new USSSA stamp being required and it is also stamped approved for Little League and Babe Ruth.
Looking for a good -11 32/21 bat for my boy. Avoiding Composite barrel due to cold. Boy is a strong power hitter. Can someone help me between the Vexxum and the Easton XL2 and XL3?
While all three of these bats are great choices, I would suggest going with the XL3 if your son is a strong power hitter. This bat was designed more for power hitters and is a one piece design, unlike the XL2 or the Vexxum. The one piece design of the XL3, along with the end loaded feel of this bat, will help your son generate even more power.
Hi, is this bat marked as a BPF 1.15 bat? Per our Cal Ripken league, all non-wooden bats have to be marked as BFP 1.15. Thanks.
This bat is marked as such. It features the new USSSA stamp that is required, so this bat is legal for use in 2012 and beyond.
Do you need to break this bat in?
This bat has an alloy barrel and doesn't need a full break as a full composite would. However, it does have a composite handle, and I would recommend about 100 hits off a tee starting at about 40% power and gradually increasing. Also, be sure to rotate the bat a quarter of an inch in your hands between each hit
Does the Vexxum have great pop to it?
Yes, the Vexxum has excellent pop.
I've seen this bat sold in two color schemes, the black barrel, and the other has a yellow barrel. Any fundamental differences between the two such as weight, year, etc?
The youth Vexxum bats with a yellow barrel are the 2011 model and the youth Vexxum bats with the black barrel are the 2012 model. Both bats will be the same, except for the difference in color and the model year.
My son is playing ball and his bat has to have a stamp on the bat that says usssa bpf 1.15 on it. Do all your bats have this on them?
Yes, it has the USSSA stamp on the bat. The newer models will have the stamp.
