Description

Introducing the classiest bat to ever hit the field, the Marucci Black. Combining a longer barrel with big league balance and a sleek design, the Black offers everything players could want in a top of the line bat. Constructed using Marucci's patented new two-piece design, the Black fuses an AZ3000 Alloy barrel with a composite handle. The composite handle on the Black is made extra stiff so that players can hit for maximum power, while Marucci's AZ3000 Alloy is ultra-responsive and provides the industry's best combination of performance and durability. The barrel on the black is made extra-long which results in a larger sweet spot and increased trampoline effect. The Black also features unprecedented big league balance, which means that players don't have to sacrifice swing speed for a bigger barrel. A reduced M.O.I. gives the bat a lighter swing weight for increased swing velocity, and ultimately more power. Marucci also brings their popular anti-vibration knob to the Black which, combined with the bat's two-piece construction, effectively eliminates negative vibration to give players maximum confidence and comfort at the plate. Marucci: Taking Baseball By Storm! The Black is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Pros: Very balanced bat, just like the Combat B1. Amazing pop, it sounds incredible. Bought the 30/19 for my 10yr old son. Love that he could use it in cold weather. I would highly recommend this bat for anyone looking for a hybrid bat. The vibration dampening is awesome, no sting at all after hitting 100+ balls.

Cons: Wish it came in a -10

Pros: Incredibly balanced. Been using end-loaded Demarini bats since shattering 2 Combats with no assistance from that manufacturer. So much more control that it is ridiculous. Son loves it.

Cons: Not quite as forgiving as full composite. Came with a small paint chip.

Pros: Average bat at best! The composite handle adds value to the hitter swing (Speed and Acceleration).

Cons: The manfacturing team at Marucci should have made this bat "Marucci Black" in a -10. This bat is only available in the drop -11 for little league use.

Pros: Bat is awesome, my son has the Easton S2 which just is too light at a -13 for kids with fast hands, but don't have the power for the Easton XL series. This bat is so balanced my son actually commented that the bat seems lighted (18 oz Black vs. 16 oz S2). It took some getting used to and hit initially hit drop in base hits until it was broken in. Now the pop is insane, jumped on a fast ball accross the plate for a stand up tripled! Once broken in 200-300 hits, wow the ball jumps!

Cons: Paint chips very easy....

BAB

Pros: Used for 7 year old this spring season....he is 4'2" and weighs 46 lbs. He is tall and skinny, excellent contact hitter with control. He uses the 29-18 which is a bit large for him but handles the weight fine because of the even weight distribution and actually hit a few hard line drives up the middle this season. This is a fast and powerful bat even for smaller players that have a bit more experience and control.

Cons: Only complaint is that it seems that the sweet spot is smaller. Players with better control and hand-eye coordination should not have much issue - still excellent bat.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Marucci Black Youth Baseball Bat: MYB11? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Which bat is more durable: Marucci Black youth or Easton Power Brigade XL1 youth? Slugging
These are two different kinds of bats, so they are not easy to compare. The Marucci Black is a two piece bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The XL1 is an all composite end loaded bat. Alloy bats tend to have more durability than composite bats.
Kara
Would it be better to invest in a composite barrell instead of alloy? Which will have more pop? My son wants this bat after he was using CF4 last year. Deibs
The Marucci barrel is alloy which offers a more immediate pop. The composite just takes a bit to break in. Composite barrel bats have a light feel and become hotter with more usage.
Linda
Which bat has more pop and a bigger sweet spot: Marucci Black youth or the Easton Power Brigade XL1 youth? ShufflinHomeRunHitter
Both of these bats are good choices. They each have great pop and large sweet spots. The most balanced of the two will be the Black MYB11. The XL1 will have a slight end load feel. You can't go wrong with either one.
Kris
I dont see the Black listed on the Little League approved bat list is there a chance they wont approve it? Tanner
This bat has an alloy barrel making it legal for Little League. Not all legal bats will be listed on the approved list. Please check with your league official for more details.
Kris
Which bat is better overall, the Marucci Black or the Demarini Voodoo? jswartz
The basic design is actually very similar. Both are 2 piece hybrids. Composite handle/alloy barrel. You would be happy with either.
Linda
Do you still have to worry about using in colder weather due to the composite handle? Brian
The MYB11 has an alloy barrel and colder temperatures will not be an issue with this bat.
Sean
This bat from the photo's looks like it has a long handle and short barrel length..Can you measure the barrel length compared to a Demarini Vodoo. Thanks! Coach Frank
The barrel of the Marucci is longer than it appears in the pictures. The barrel length of the Voodoo is almost the same.
Linda
Can you compare the Marucci Black versus the Cat 5? barry
The Cat 5 is all alloy. The new Black is a hybrid with an alloy barrel and composite handle. Both will perform great and display similar pop. From my experience and feedback we've gotten from customers, the Black has a little less vibration than the Cat 5.
TJ
How does the Marucci Black compare to the 2012 Anderson bat? Rocco
The Anderson is a one piece alloy, the Marucci Black is a two piece bat, composite handle, alloy barrel. The MYB11 Black features anti-vibration knob which eliminates the negative sting.
Linda
What composite and hybrid bats are good in cold weather? snowstorm
Composite barrel bats are the one's you would need to worry about in cold weather. We do not recommend using a composite barrel bat in weather colder than 55 degrees.
John
It looks like a bat with a 2 1/4" alloy barrel is 2012 Little League approved, does this bat meet those standards? elaine
This Marucci Black MYB11 is approved for Little League in 2012
Robb
How does this compare to the Voodoo? Sean
Both are two piece bats with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The Marucci Black MYB11 has a slightly longer barrel than the Voodoo.
Kara
If I have a warranty and I get the warranty bat can I get it in a different weight and length? benji.h
That would be determined by Marucci, since they provide the warranty replacement bats. Marucci's phone number is 1-888-627-8224.
Tyler
Are you guys not carrying the regular CAT 5 model anymore- Little League model for $149? jackscoach
We did have this model, but we have sold out of all of them. We are not expecting to receive anymore, as this line has been discontinued.
Jennifer
Is it approved by Little League? mark
As of today, the Marucci Black is approved by Little League.
Kara
Is this BBCOR or Non BBCOR? JCarter21
The MYB11 is a youth bat that is not BBCOR certified. Only adult baseball bats are eligible for BBCOR certification.
Tyler
What would you recommend for a 4'11, 75 lb, 12 yr old. More of a contact hitter but has a little bit of power. I was thinking of a Marucci Black, or a Marucci Cat 5?? ???
Actually, both the Cat 5 and Black are great bats for an all-around hitter. It all comes down to what type of bat you've used in the past with the most success. If you've used a two piece bat with more success in the past, get the Marucci Black. If you've used a one piece bat in the past with more success, get the Cat 5.
Tyler
I'm 10 and dont know if I should get the Marucci Black MYB11 or the COMbat B1 alloy. J
The main difference is the Marucci Black is a hybrid design (composite handle/ aluminum barrel) and the COMBAT B1 is a one-piece fully aluminum bat. Here is a link to further compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
Would this be a good bat for my 11 yr old? He is 105lbs. Marc
Yes, the Marucci Black is a great two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and aluminum barrel that would be a great option for your 11 year old son.
Tom
Is this legal in Little League Juniors play? tman
Yes. The Marucci Black: MYB11 Youth bat is approved for the Junior Division in Little League.
Tyler
Is this an approved USSSA bat? Ole DAD
The Marucci Black MYB11 does have the USSSA stamp of BPF 1.15.
Aubrey
Can you compare the Black to the Black 2.0? What are the differences? Also, how would the Black compare to the 2013 youth Team? dlc
The 2013 Marucci Black 2: MYBB20 has an extended barrel for a larger sweet spot. The Marucci Black will have more flex than the 2013 Marucci Team because it is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The Marucci Team is a one-piece all alloy bat.
Kara
My son currently uses Easton Stealth Speed 30 -11 which is composite. He is 12, 5-2, 94 lbs. What size Marucci Black should he use and what feel difference would he expect going to the Black? OVLL Majors
Based on that information, a 31" model of the Marucci Black is recommended. The Marucci Black is a well balanced bat that feels just a little more balanced than the Stealth Speed.
Tyler
Is the black 2 approved for little league play? glenn
Yes, the Marucci Black: MYB11 Youth bat is approved for little league play.
Frank
Is the Marucci Black -8 legal for youth Little League? Ty
Yes, the Marucci Black: MYB11 Youth bat is approved for little league play.
Marcus
Is this bat approved for Dixie youth baseball? I see it says Dixie on it but does Dixie youth acknowledge that because rule book states must say Dixie youth baseball. Thanks Greg
As far as I know a bat with the Dixie stamp, such as the Marucci Black: MYB11 Youth, is approved for play in all Dixie leagues.

Is this bat recommended for weather around 55 degrees or under for the spring? PK
The Marucci Black: MYB11 Youth bat is a two-piece hybrid bat. With both composite and alloy material bats, they are susceptible to damage in temps below 55 degrees.

I'm trying to decide between the Marucci Black Youth and the 2013 DeMarini CF5 Youth, I'm 95 pounds and 12 years old with mostly contact and some power. nick
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 would be an upgrade. It is great for contact hitters and is one of the easiest swinging bats on the market.

Last year my son used a 30" 18 oz. Easton Omen. We are looking to go a size up this year. He's 12 and 100 lbs., what could you recommend that might be on the cheaper side? Coach R
The Marucci Black Youth is an great bat for a great price. If you need to go a bit cheaper the COMBAT B2 Alloy Youth is another good one.
Chad M.
My son hits a 31'' 18 oz bat right now. Good contact hitter but not a lot of power. He likes the the Black at in the 31"/20. Is the 2 oz too much of a jump or do you recommend dropping an inch and going with the 30/19? Tim
It's always recommended and 100% natural for a player to move up 1-3 oz. with each new bat. Thus, we would recommend the 20 oz. model of the Marucci Black: MYB11.
Tyler
How do you recommend breaking in the Marucci Black? tommy
The Marucci Black: MYB11 Youth bat does not require a break-in period as it has an alloy barrel.
Aubrey
My 7 year old son is currently 49 inches tall and weighs 53 lbs. His current bat is 29 inches, 16.5 ounces. Would the Marucci black 29 inches and 18 ounces be too big of jump for him. Pat
That all depends on his strength, swing speed and bat control with his current bat. For players who have good strength, swing speed and bat control, it's common and recommended that they move up at least 1-3 oz. in weight with their new bat. If he has below average strength and swing speed with a lack of bat control, then I would say moving up to an 18 oz. Marucci Black: MYB11 would be a little too much.
Tyler
I am 12 year old, weigh 96 pounds, and I'm 61 inches tall. Which bat would be better for me? A Marucci Black or DeMarini Vexxum? Are either end loaded? Or is there another bat you would recommend? Judah
With the height and weight given, we suggest a 31" bat. Neither the Marucci Black: MYB11 Youth or the DeMarini Vexxum are end loaded. If you are a power hitter and looking for a end load, I would suggest the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo Youth.
Chad M.
My son is 9 years old an weighs 75 pounds. He has great strength, great bat speed with good bat control. Would you recommend the Black in 30" 19 oz. or 31" 20 oz. What is end loaded? And would you recommend an end loaded bat? And is a heavier or lighter bat better for him if he has fast bat speed? Thanks. tee
Based on his age we recommend a 30" 19 oz. Marucci Black: MYB11 Youth. An end loaded bat has more weight at the end of the barrel. They are typically best for a player who has good bat speed and power. The Marucci Black: MYB11 is a balanced bat.

Is there a real difference as far as power is concerned between a quality youth big barrel bat and a quality 2 1/4'' barrel? Nick
Power is going to be dependent on the weight of the bat. The heavier the bat, the more power you will get. Both the youth big barrel bats and the 2 1/4'' barrels have the same 1.15 BPF rating, so they will have the same pop.
